I think Guida is going to be a hell of a test for Nate. Nate’s pretty slick with his submissions though, so Clay had better watch himself.

by BigRedOne on Jan 29, 2009 1:31 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

if clay wins it’s gonna be a replay of the danzing fight. if nate wins, it will be via: armbar or triangle choke!
mam i’m pumped.. f@#$ the superbowl

You’re telling me. I turn 19 Saturday, and thats like, the least of my excitement! On BetUS, I could win $660 if all of my bets go through. That includes 94, Superbowl, and then some horse races that were like, +3000, so I threw down $5 on em. If I lose all, I only lose $50. GREAT risk for reward there!

by Synyster [[2009 Year of Gegard Mousasi]] on Jan 29, 2009 8:37 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Great risk for your reward! Dana White is giving you one hell of a birthday gift! Enjoy it man!

Just yesterday I wrote a post asking for some coverage on this fight and here we are!

this is a classic match up between a fighter, who only wins via decision (Clay) vs. a guy that can end a fight at any moment in various different ways (Diaz). I ALWAYS go with the guy that can end the fight. Basically His opponent gives him 15 minutes to win a fight or he will lose via decision. I like Nate’s chances!

I like Nate, can’t wait to see the odds for this one. He may be a slight dog!

I knew mania was working on something.

As for the fight I see Nate taking shots from Clay and then taking him down. His best chance is LnP as I feel a UD is his best chance as he just cant finish anyone these days. The Diaz brothers are known for taking punishment and still coming forward and this will be no different. Nate is dangerous off his back and this will be the deciding factor.

Prediction: Nate via sub R2/3

by Ca$z on Jan 29, 2009 4:33 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

That’s what I’m hoping for. I don’t see any way Guida can finish Diaz, and Diaz is much better off his back than anyone Guida’s faced in the UFC (I think Diaz’s MMA BJJ is better than Aurelio’s). If Guida sticks to his usual gameplan of taking down his opponents I see Diaz catching a sub off his back or sweeping Guida and finishing him during a scramble.

by GregC on Jan 29, 2009 5:04 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Just because Guida dry humps and LnPs at a fast pace doesn’t mean he has anything more than his dry-humping LnP decision-style of fighting. Diaz will happily go to his back and give Captain Caveman the triangle choking of a lifetime.

by PW on Jan 29, 2009 1:46 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Wait, I changed my mind. Diaz will give Geico Guida the triangle choking of a lifetime.

No way dude, guida is gonna school him

Nate has this one!!!!!!!!!!

by CesarGracieJiuJitsu on Jan 29, 2009 1:34 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

guida likes to go to the ground where imo Nate’s best position is on his back. So will guida try to keep it standing and not give nate the chance for a sub, or will he play into Diaz’s best position

Guida is gonna run over Diaz!!!!

by Phat E on Jan 29, 2009 1:42 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

i see guida winning but running over diaz i doubt one thing them diaz brothers do is put up a fight

by randy murders on Jan 29, 2009 1:51 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Honestly I dont give guida much of a chance in this fight. Nate has shown some awkward albeit effective striking and guida has just kind of been all over the place, and usually ends up having to rely on his wrestling. Wrestling nate will completely backfire especially considering that guida hasnt shown any propensity for effective ground and pound against an opponent with game jits. I expect Diaz to win via sub either by triangle or catching guida with something in a scramble, maybe after he rocks guida on the feet and guida instincively shoots in.

YESS!! FINALLY some hype for this fight..

i called for this fight after Nate “won” by default over Manny!!

Finally my bpy Guida gets To SCHOOL nate!

hes gonna push the pace far above what Nate can handle, good sub defense, better striking, and great wrestling!

Hell “Batman” was kicking the sh*t outta nate before the Submission!

Guida by Total A$$ Whoop’n!

WAR GUIDA!!!!

Guida’s biggest problem is actually hurting people and endign fights. There is no way he finishes ANY Diaz brother. Nate takes this via……there is no way Guida can hurt him….and then a sub off the back.

by The Anomaly on Jan 29, 2009 2:08 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Honestly though I really did forget how good this whole card is. It really is an AWESOME card. Best main event ever, and then this fight is awesome which I have overlooked honestly, and then the 2 undefeated Brazilian LHW’s, and Karo, love ‘em or hate him. Then on the undercard there is Fitch, and OMG, Jake O Brian!!! haha jk’ing.

by The Anomaly on Jan 29, 2009 2:11 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Love the O’Brian finish on your comment. lol

And i predict Diaz by tranglechoke/flippin off the cameras too, end of round 2.

People also tend to forget that Nate’s boxing keeps improving!

by Choke_Him on Jan 29, 2009 9:12 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Both these guys are awesome. I like both of them and its hard to pick a winner. I think Nate has the edge with better Jitsu but its hard to bet against Guida since the guy is like a tasmanian devil. If it goes the distance I think Clay will win by split decision.

Nate sub in the 2ndR

by Laughey on Jan 29, 2009 5:58 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

by Gweedo on Jan 29, 2009 7:05 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Another great fight on the card and finally some hype for it. Rootin for Guida he needs to shut Diaz and his 2 fingers up!

by Randy for Couture on Jan 29, 2009 8:19 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

I can’t pick a winner; I think this is going to come down to who has the better stand up. Guida’s wrestling is better, so he can decide where the fight takes place, but he might avoid the ground because of Nate’s BJJ, if thats the case I give the nod to Nate. Besides, Guida’s a LW gate keeper, Nate could fight for the belt some day, so I’ll root for him to take this fight.

by O damn he got caught on Jan 29, 2009 9:13 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

I am more excited about Nate vs Clay
                         Machida vs Silva

by wand1 on Jan 29, 2009 9:32 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Diaz has not fought someone like Guida yet, it should be a good test for him. Im cool with either one of them winning.

by DZZ on Jan 29, 2009 9:33 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

I’ll take Nate via triangle in the 2nd.

by FukStyck on Jan 29, 2009 9:50 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

This is a lose/lose fight for Guida. He if gets submitted he loses, if he wins Nick beats his ass!

Clays style is full speed ahead and go for takedowns…better watch his neck!!! Diaz by submission.

by Couchchamp on Jan 29, 2009 5:03 PM EST reply actions   0 recs
