The field of 20 fighters set to compete tomorrow night (Sunday) at the San Diego Sports Arena in San Diego, Calif., on the WEC 38: "Varner vs. Cerrone" card today tipped the scales for the official weigh-ins.
All the athletes eventually made their respective weights with three minor hiccups.
Here are the official WEC 38 weigh-in results:
155 lbs.: WEC Lightweight Champion Jamie "C-4″ Varner (155) vs. Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone (154.5)
145 lbs.: Urijah "The California Kid" Faber (145.5) vs. Jens "Little Evil" Pulver (146)
170 lbs.: Mike Campbell (170.5) vs. Danillo Vilefort (170.5)
145 lbs.: Rolando Perez (145) vs Jose Aldo (145.5)
155 lbs.: Anthony Njokuani (156) vs. Ben Henderson (156)*
170 lbs.: Edgar Garcia (171)* vs. Hiromitsu Miura (170.5)
135 lbs.: Ian McCall (135.5) vs. Dominick Cruz (135)
135 lbs.: Frank Gomez (136) vs. Scott Jorgensen (135.5)
170 lbs.: Jesse Lennox (170.5) vs. Blas Avena (171)*
135 lbs.: Seth Dikun (136) vs Charlie Valencia (134)
*Henderson, Garcia and Avena all came in a half-pound over their respective division limits initially, but made weight on their seconds attempts.
**Fighters are allowed one extra pound in non-title bouts
WEC 38 will be the kickoff event of 2009 for the Zuffa-owned organization.
Company lightweight champion Jamie "C-4" Varner will defend his title against undefeated Muay Thai specialist Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone in the main event and Urijah "The California Kid" Faber and Jens "Little Evil" Pulver will square off in a rematch in the co-main event.
It's going to be rock-solid.
