Donald Trump Jr. talks MMA and Affliction on CNN with Larry King

This is interesting:

Keep in mind that King and Donald Sr. are very good friends, which is more than likely the reason Jr. landed and escaped a major mainstream media program without much resistance, as well as drove home all the key points. That's no small feat these days ... just check out the latest editorial in the New York Times. Just saying -- it's nice to have friends in high places, which is what the Trump organization and Golden Boy Promotions bring to the table.

so his kid might be an alien? he’s a douche that obviously knows very little about MMA other then it may make him some money later on down the road

by randy murders on Jan 24, 2009 1:26 AM EST reply actions

agreed, he only knows what his daddy spoon feeds him.

by c-one on Jan 24, 2009 1:39 AM EST up reply actions

i wouldnt say that, he’s a great real estate mogul and i doubt his dad knows any more about MMA he’s got an agent or “handlers” writing what he says regarding affliction.. if fedor loses affliction goes under plain and simple

by randy murders on Jan 24, 2009 1:45 AM EST up reply actions

they’re going under regardless. fedor cant save them. they are in a worse situation than the 1rst show and fedor has been on both.

by b.w. on Jan 24, 2009 2:31 AM EST up reply actions

no Fedor can’t save them or even do anything for them.. you can’t build a company on a fighter that isn’t marketable at all! being in the top doesn’t make you good for the sport or marketable.. the australian open tennis is what matters these days, sry mma!

by RoB on Jan 24, 2009 7:14 AM EST up reply actions

Amir Sadollah is pulling out of his fight AGAIN! broke his cavical!

by john on Jan 24, 2009 8:27 AM EST up reply actions

WTF! Amir is turning out to be a dissapointment.

by JV on Jan 24, 2009 8:39 AM EST up reply actions

The way he moved his hands all the time was kind of strange looking.

by RyanHobbs on Jan 24, 2009 2:17 AM EST up reply actions

Couldn’t get any worse for affliction… it’s even raining here in anaheim… still gonna go watch fedor, but that will keep lots of people away tonight… we’re not used to this weird water from the sky stuff in so.cal. ha

by rawbert on Jan 24, 2009 11:08 AM EST up reply actions

that’s because, as the song says, it never rains in southern california.

by JB on Jan 24, 2009 12:50 PM EST up reply actions

I thought he came off rather well. I didn’t think he was a douche at all. That Gary fag in the Fedor blogs is a douche. Question on that too, why is it called Fedor’s Road to Reckoning, but it centers around that fool?? Last time I checked, that fucker wasn’t Fedor. I only watched like, 2 of them, and I fucking hate that guy.

by Synyster [[2009 Year of Gegard Mousasi]] on Jan 24, 2009 1:44 AM EST reply actions

Gary was trying to act hella hard… Then they got that queer Jimmy Smith from Fight Quest doing the commentary, lol

Gary trys to call Dana “needles”.. fuck Tito vs Dana, lets get Gary VS Dana, i got Dana with a throat punch early 1st round.

by diamondsareforever on Jan 24, 2009 2:22 AM EST up reply actions

Synyster: as Fedor’s biggest NUthugger, I dont even watch those blogs cuz of that Douche Millen.

The day is here Fockers! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR!

by john on Jan 24, 2009 10:42 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah SYN I’m with ya’ on that one… Junior doesn’t know squat about MMA but he came across rather polished.. then again he wasn’t asked any difficult questions..Larry King throws the biggest softballs on TV; when OJ was on he got away with murder!

by DAVE on Jan 24, 2009 2:55 AM EST up reply actions

i just watched the banned show and i know affliction HAS to improve thier production quality if they want to be taken seriously, it was like a middle school news show

by sac165 on Jan 24, 2009 2:12 AM EST reply actions

What is up with the Trump’s and their hair? Donald has a dead animal laying on his head and Donald Jr. is rocking that lame ass mullet.
I give Affliction one or two more events then into the proverbial crapper, it just isn’t going to work!

Actually thought DJ wasn’t that bad. Hopefully they will get passed in New York, and the libs there wont kill it.

by Kung Foo on Jan 24, 2009 2:37 AM EST reply actions

I dont know if i wanna buy this PPV anybody know what the website is that streams PPVs live?

by SHOVE on Jan 24, 2009 2:59 AM EST reply actions

There are loads!! Just type it in on google on the night.

by Adam on Jan 24, 2009 5:02 AM EST up reply actions

Buy it dude, don’t watch it on a computer. Think of it as a charitable contribution to your future mma enjoyment.

by MrFyer on Jan 24, 2009 7:39 PM EST up reply actions

Showtime and Golden Boy are doing the production for the show. So the production will be improved immensley. I am so pumped for this fight.

by Jonny on Jan 24, 2009 5:27 AM EST reply actions

Honestly, 2 me, mma is MMA. Fights r fights. I understand the production quality isn’t that of the UFC’s. But I think these fights will be just as intriguing as any UFC card.

I refuse 2 buy the ppv also. Now that the UFC does almost 2 ppvs a month, I simply can’t afford every fight that comes on.

by gweedo on Jan 24, 2009 7:17 AM EST reply actions

This is the very first time the UFC has ever done 2 PPV’s in one month. And if you look at their schedule, there is no PPV in February, so UFC 94 can be viewed as the “February UFC PPV Event” in a way.

The only issue is how close the PPV’s are together. And looking towards their upcoming schedule, they will not be having two PPV’s in a month for at least the first half of 2009.

by 45 Huddle on Jan 24, 2009 8:21 AM EST up reply actions

Get some friends to chip in. It’s not so bad.

But UFC doesn’t do 2 ppv’s a month. This is just a method to sandwich lots of UFC ppv’s around the Affliction ppv so that you wouldn’t buy it. Looks like you’re doing just what Dana and the Fertittas want.

I’ll be sure to thank you when Affliction goes under and all we have is UFC….4 crappy fights on the ppv so that more commercials for PS3 games, the next UFC ppv, and motion pictures can be shown.

by Jason on Jan 24, 2009 9:18 AM EST up reply actions

interesting fact Back when Anderson Silva fought Okami at a ‘Rumble on the Rock’ event, which was eventually ruled a DQ with the win going to Okami, Troy “Rude Boy” Mandaloniz was the referee that night. Yes, the same “Rude Boy” from season 6 of TUF. Also*, Silva vs Okami was fought at a catch weight of 174lbs!!! Talk about some skinny fighters!!!

by gweedo on Jan 24, 2009 7:45 AM EST reply actions

He should be their spokesperson. He seems to know what he’s talking about and can discuss it intelligently. The T-shirt dude should never be in front of a camera! I however want Affliction to fail, because of their choice to use a ring over a cage.

by 8cott on Jan 24, 2009 8:08 AM EST reply actions

Larry King & Newspapers…. The people who read or watch either of these are not typically in the demographic of people who would purchase an MMA PPV.

Getting your name out there is one thing. Doing it properly is completely different.

by 45 Huddle on Jan 24, 2009 8:15 AM EST reply actions

I watched it.

by introvert on Jan 24, 2009 11:03 AM EST up reply actions

I hate how mma is compared to boxing all the time. MMA takes FAR more skill. It has all the moves of boxing plus all the moves of wrestling plus jiu jitsu plus judo plus kickboxing and so on. You have to learn a hell of a lot more than someone who just boxes. Boxing is one aspect of fighting. MMA is everything. The only way boxing will survive is to hang on mma’s curtails.

by hatteras on Jan 24, 2009 8:26 AM EST reply actions

You hate it, but you’re the only one doing it lol….ironic.

by introvert on Jan 24, 2009 11:04 AM EST up reply actions

Im not so sure about that one. For the first time ever I was driving to work and I heard an advertisement on the local rock radio station for Affliction Banned. That was the first time I have ever herd a radio station saying anything about a MMA fight card. So great for affliction.

by Freddie on Jan 24, 2009 9:07 AM EST reply actions

I also think most of you are wrong about Affliction going under. If they put on a couple of great shows…. look out. There are a lot of fighters in UFC who are only there because of ‘Job Security’ Dana should be careful… once he starts to loose a few fighters… they will all go. Then hes fucked. ITs really closer than most of you think. Just like the stock market… UFC can crash.

by Freddie on Jan 24, 2009 9:10 AM EST reply actions

Good point. UFC 93 was terrible. I’ve been ordering every single UFC ppv for some time now. I’ll get Affliction and UFC 94 too. But next time they give me a total crap POS card like 93 I’ll skip. That was just horrible.

by Jason on Jan 24, 2009 9:22 AM EST up reply actions

Affliction will go under if Fedor loses.

by MrFyer on Jan 24, 2009 7:41 PM EST up reply actions

DJ and Larry King reach a very Important Audiance for MMA. I think he did very well in planting a seed for the Haters. I say fighter Union with Bennies… These guys have families just like anyone else. Zuffa and Dana are lineing their pockets. We should Thank the Trumps for getting Involved..

by wand1 on Jan 24, 2009 10:11 AM EST reply actions

Trump thinks his boy can sell crap for gold!! I guess we will find out if the MMA fan’s are smarter than boxing fan’s tonight. Pay to watch a crap fight I don’t think so.

by Beaver on Jan 24, 2009 10:45 AM EST reply actions

Are you for real?

I suppose you’ll pass up on seeing Fedor fight to watch a replay of thw WWE champ beating up an overrated old man again?

I’m an MMA fan, I’m buying the event, I can’t wait to watch it, I’m happy to pay to see this “crap”.

I guess I’m not as smart as you, eh?….Ulimate Fighting Fan.

by introvert on Jan 24, 2009 11:07 AM EST up reply actions

Yor not a MMA fan if you were you wouldn’t pay to promote a fighter who picks crappy fights.

by Beaver on Jan 24, 2009 2:55 PM EST up reply actions

I think this fight is finally a worthy challenge for Fedor. Fedor will only keep his mystique if he keeps winning. I can’t wait to see if tonight’s the night and if AA is the fighter to stop Fedor. I want to watch it live on big screen. I love the under card too. I’ve been dying to see Barnett in action. The Sobral and soak-a-jew fight should be good. Finally I want to see local boy Dan Lauzon.

by MrFyer on Jan 24, 2009 7:48 PM EST up reply actions

Why all the hate for Jr.? What did he say in that interview that would classify him as a “douche”? He came off very well, I thought.

I must say, it’s getting a little old for this website to add a smear campaign to every Affliction article or vid. If it were Dana White on Larry King, mania would add below it “Dana is on Larry King. What a huge step for ’MMA”\’ (ahem UFC), etc, etc…."

Seriously though…when is the last time Affliction did anything that is added to this site, without some sort of negativity printed right below it?

by introvert on Jan 24, 2009 10:59 AM EST reply actions

Uh … no. Try, try and try again, introvert.

by MMAmania on Jan 24, 2009 11:15 AM EST up reply actions

Arlovski = Seth Petruzelli
Fedor = Kimbo
Affiction = Elite XC

not comparing them in talent and skill wise obviously, but you all know where im going with this………….. its all over tonight folks! AA will shock the world!!! (though i love Fedor and wouldn’t want him to ever lose, AA will shock everyone tonight and KO him with a nice left uppercut and then a straight right.)

by manalito on Jan 24, 2009 12:11 PM EST reply actions

I think the worse thing is that it seems like they’re going to end up with most of the same fighters on each card, because they don’t have a deep enough roster to make interesting fights. I think Arlovski can be even more marketable than Fedor if they go about it correctly. Especially because he speaks English. Fedor isn’t their Kimbo!

by Scott on Jan 24, 2009 12:15 PM EST up reply actions

i know that! and thats not what i meant. I jsut mean it is going to play out the way elite xc did, their biggest star loses for the first time and the company goes under!!!

by manalito on Jan 24, 2009 12:52 PM EST up reply actions

fedor is their kimbo. he’s a better kimbo but still a kimbo nonetheless.

by JB on Jan 24, 2009 12:57 PM EST up reply actions

I agree in that if Fedor loses Affliction dies a quick death.

by MrFyer on Jan 24, 2009 7:49 PM EST up reply actions

“They’re going to end up with most of the same fighters on each card.”

No doubt. They only have 1 more marketable fight left for Fedor at the moment. After that, what are they going to do for a main event? Arlovski vs. Sylvia 15? No thanks. Maybe Arlovski vs. Barnett could be marketable, but didn’t try that originally for Day of Reckoning and they couldn’t sell enough tickets?

by Joe Smith on Jan 25, 2009 10:06 AM EST up reply actions

Junior is a mouthpiece with a pink tie—-that about says it all. Affliction is not going to last.

by Fred on Jan 24, 2009 12:42 PM EST reply actions

A step in the right direction would be to replace Attencio with Donald Jr. Attencio would never get on LKL.
