Leonard Garcia: God is stacking the deck against Mike Brown at WEC 39

Props: Corpus Christi Caller Times
Quoteworthy:
"To get a title shot anywhere is a dream come true, but to get it in my home state is unreal. I have a lot of advantages fighting in Texas. I think God is stacking the deck against Mike. That's my take on it anyway."
World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) number one featherweight contender Leonard Garcia sees some spiritual intervention taking place prior to his fight against newly-crowned 145-pound champion Mike Brown at WEC 39 on March 1. The fight will be held at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, which is essentially a home game for the Lubbock-bred Garcia. He'll more than likely need a little more than home field advantage and the Lord's blessing to get through a five rounder against the tough-as-nails American Top Team (ATT)-trained fighter.

Some home field advantage. It’s 550 miles from Lubbock to Corpus. Well, you know what they say. Texas: You can’t drive through it in a day.

Should be a good scrap. Garcia always comes to brawl, and Brown knocked out one of the best P4P fighters in the world. I like Garcia in this fight, but I won’t count Brown out.

I am a hUGE Garcia fan! THis fight his his to win as long as he can keep it standing! His training camp for this fight should only consist of wrestling and takedown defense

Fact: In Texarkana, Texas you’re closer to Chicago than El Paso.

I am right here in Selenaville (Corpus). Are you coming to the fights?

I wish I could. I’m stuck at a crappy temp job right now and can’t afford to do much. A WEC event would be fun though. Maybe Cuban will actually get some fights at the AAC soon.

That too bad. Well hopefully they will finalize the UFC coming to S.A. this fall.

I really hope Brown wins now. I really find it stupid when fighters say things that imply that for some reason God favors them more than others. He must have got this one from Rampages “God is on my side” book of retardisms.

I’m not sure God cares about this right now, as He is too busy deciding who will win the Super Bowl.

Yeah right. Just like how rappers have to thank God when they win an utterly pointless MTV award that was bought for them by their label.
God’s giving Leonard Garcia homefield advantage in Texas while across the border in Mexico God is helping the drug cartels decapitate cops and throw grenades into wedding receptions.

At least W just levelled that playing field a little by commuting the sentences of those two border agents who shot that drug-running illegal who was trying to escape back into Mexico with more than 700 pounds of weed. Unfortuantely they only shot him in the ass and didn’t kill him.

I hope you guys are kidding and understand that statement is just a figure of speech. Leonard is a tough challenge for anyone but being in Texas makes is that much tougher, kind of like the Cavaliers they are a tough team that could beat anyone but when you go to their arena forget about it. Plus Garcia does not need anybodies intervention wasn’t he supposed to be a stepping stone for Takaya he rung his bell in the first and nobody gave him a chance against Jens and he KO’ed him in the first something Urijah couldnt even do in 5 round, and if he has s trong faith in religion to each is own, and who are we to judge him.

Well us Texans don’t need a voice….. and learn how to use the “Reply to this comment” button. That would be the one that is located on the bottom of the post (hint- its hilighted in blue). That way we know who you are talking to. You should also probably start using apostraphes and punctuation as it makes for a better read.Just Keeping it real.

Nothing against Garcia. But, why would God feel the need to stack the deck in his favor? He better win now, because if he loses God might be dissapointed, given that he is stacking the deck in Leonard’s favor. No pressure.
