Yea, hes going to make GSP faint with BJ after BJ and then k*ll him when hes out!

I hated when Georges said that about not coming from a wealthy family… like that has anythign to do with anything… BJ BJ BJ!!!!!!!

by 1-0 via Arm Triangle on Jan 18, 2009 6:48 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Georges wasn’t implying that lack of wealth had anything to do with the actual fighting. It was a direct response to BJ’s comment about him being a “quiter.” If you look at Georges’s perseverence to get to where he is, it’s obvious that he is not a quiter, that’s all he was saying. BJ, as usual, was being a disrespectful prick.

by justagirl on Jan 18, 2009 8:56 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

So what does being a quiter have to do with being wealthy. I dont know many rich kids that are quiters, they usually dont have to quit. Ive never seen a rich person quit on life and become homeless etc. Now the unwealthy is another story bro, they quit more often than the wealthy. Either way, what does being a quiter have to do with how much money you have or your upbrining. Rich or poor, some quit and some dont. Id say that BJ taking 46 to the face in a crucifix with Big J right there waiting for a verbal Tap and not getting one makes him not a quiter, just my opinion. GSP tapping 2 times . . . What is that again, oh yea, another form of saying “i give up” “uncle” or as BJ puts it “a quiter” right??? Or what dumb argument do you have to respond to this? Or is this “just like cards, you dont want to show your hand” LMAO! Ill bet George cant even spell poker.

I think everybody is getting a bit lost in the hype of these episodes. The real deal is, when on live camera, where people can see how they really are, both have utmost respect for each other and are class acts. We forget the whoooooole point of this thing is to hype it up. To get us all fired up about it to wanna see our good guy beat up the bad guy. Thing is im already very stoked for this, these episodes are entertaining, but will not change my opinion on either fighters thoughts, style, or work ethic.

Keep hearing BJ saying “talk is cheap”, though he’s the one doing all the cheap talk.

by brendan on Jan 18, 2009 2:50 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

BJ is exactly what I thought he was. A little rich kid who desperately wants to be looked at as tough. I guess what some people would call a (studio gangster) Talks as if hes had a rough life. Talks about how other fighters will give up. Thats why Im not a fan, and just want to see GSP crush him!!!!!!!!

by JV on Jan 18, 2009 3:16 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

especially for someone who has been wasting his talent for the past decade.

I get what BJ’s brother was saying about peaking and what not but there is definitely no sense of urgency at camp Penn. Confidence is great but over confidence and complacency will cost him.

by DSmith on Jan 18, 2009 3:53 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

A studio gangster! ok Easy-E . . . BJ would bitch slap your ass bro, whats studio about that? Actually fighting in the cage instead of writing about guys that do, to me, YOU are the wanna be, we all are, to call any of these guys phony is . … Not even a word for it. Especially a guy with 2 UFC belts, how many does George have? The one he got from Matt Serra LoL, a guy BJ beat in the 90’s. BJ fights at HVWT dude . . . you’re an idiot. Period. Im talking to your punk ass JV, YOU are studio. From the Bay Area to Sac Cailfornia, finding me is easy or at least ill make it easy for you, ill show you you’re studio myself chump. Let me know.

Yeah c’mon adam, your being viewed here as BJ’s biggest fan, your his representative, don’t let the GSP’ers get to you and make you make yourself look bad haha. There is a lot of MMA/blog politics that you must satisfy being a number one fan.

LoL. I admit that comment got to me. “studio” is the last thing BJ is. And as his #1 fan i will just say this “i was not impressed by your comments” = ) BJ BJ BJ!!!

by ( (Adam G) ) on Jan 19, 2009 11:31 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Glad to see you got your cool back Adam. Those were some pretty strange posts. In this context, I would take JVs ‘studio’ comment to mean that BJ talks tough, but isn’t tough. BJ is tough and talented, but you can’t ignore that what he says and how he says it is kinda weird. To me, he comes off immature and over-cocky. Anywho, GSP

by DH on Jan 19, 2009 1:07 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I think after this fight BJ will stay at 155. He can back up his big mouth in that weight class a lot better. Penn may have improved some what from there last fight but GSP has improved dramatically. Penn will not know what to do against such an improved GSP?

by Beaver on Jan 18, 2009 1:04 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

yes couldn’t agree more. BJ has improved but only in his cardio and thats at 155- now im not saying that at 170 he’s not a great fighter, but he hasn’t improved as much as GSP has improved in his stand up.. and also when they first fought GSP was a purple belt in BJJ now he is a Black belt… still i give the advantage of BJJ to BJ, but striking wrestling head movement, and strength goes to GSP.

I wanna know what club GSP was in If anyone can figure it out plz post it lol i will be their !!!!

And the drama is totally fake, that parts annoying the whole Dana white Bj phone thing.

by ricky on Jan 18, 2009 1:53 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I still don’t buy the BJ has cardio bit. We haven’t had the chance to see it get seriously tested at 155 because he ran over joe daddy and played a jabbing contest with sherk.

by NameNotRequired on Jan 18, 2009 3:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Totaly, BJ is a punk. He Reminds me of every stereotype I could think of when it comes to home town punk ass bullies who’s entire ego is based on their home towns and what a name they made for themselves there. He is a gifted fearless fighter, I’’l give him that, but he’s also cocky, shallow, and mentally immature, f#*! BJ Penn, I don’t like him. I hope GSP gives him the beating of his frekin life, it would be a real treat to see BJ broken internally too, and we all know GSP has the talent to absolutely blow BJ’s mind – I expect BJ to be overwhelmed, or to turtle and maybe slow the fight down to a boring decision. Talent vs talent, toe-to-toe, GSP DESTROYS BJ in every category, except maybe ju-jitzu and boxing where they are closely matched (BJ can’t hang with the kicks, elbows and knees of GSp tho). Anybody else despize BJ’s arrogence and want to see him get the beating of his life?

by brendan on Jan 18, 2009 10:42 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

He didnt make a name for himself elsewhere, like at the expence of Mat Hughes or Gomi, or the 2 Gracies he beat at 185 . . . That hometown crap is from the early 90’s dude, its been almost 15 years, still looks pretty bad ass to me, but yea i remember when he finally left Hilo for the big lights and was wasted faster than Kimbo Slice, i remember that. Was that before or after he broke GSP’s face?

Ufortunately for BJ, “to the death” isn’t one of the UFC optoins. There’s ref stoppage, tapout, Dr stoppage, TKO, and refusing to asnwer the bell. One of those is bound to happen before death.

Ever here of selling a fight? You’re here talking about his dumb comments arent you? Looks like whatever he is doing is working, fans are talking, love or hate it doenst matter, cause either youll buy the PPV to love to see him win or hate to see him win, but either way you buy the PPV. Dont buy it then, stop watching BJ all together, GSP is exciting enough for you guys, youll hear from him 2 times a year when its fight time and thats it, “cards this, im not Sean Sherk that” oooooo, how titilating!

I find the introduction hilarious, one stone cold champ from montreal , and one hot blooded hawaiian, both bitter rivals LOL. Gsp isn’t a bitter rival, penn is the only bitter one here, coming across as a drama queen. Technically its kind of hard to measure progress, ya penn has looked good against inferior fighters to him at 155 but how is he going to do against the best at 170.

Gsp we know for certain has improved at least in one department bjj, he was a purple belt in mar 2006, then went from a brown belt and is now a black belt. Those are measured areas of improvement. As far as if gsp has improved his wrestling or his striking is harder to tell, it sure looks like his wrestling is better though. Same with penn tecnically he looked just as good in earlier matches as he does now with his striking like gsp. But its all subjective, the bjj with gsp isn’t subjective, you have to tap out certain people to go up in belts to prove yourself.

Penns abilites on his back and his rediculous take down defense mixed with his great boxing IMO poses more threat to gsp than anyone at 170 including alves, the only advantage IMO alves has on gsp is his powerfull leg kicks, I think gsp is better than him in every way, other than muscle bulk if thats an advantage, alves is a tank.

Not sure what to expect on jan 31 I just hope gsp beats him convincingly though, someone mentioned penn has more ways of winning I disagree. Here’s how I see it.

gsp > penn decision 80% advantage gsp
gsp penn late tko 60 % advantage gsp
gsp < penn sub 80 % chance penn

I know I might be talking out of my ass(with the percentages) here but more or less thats how I kind of see things. I don’t care how hard penn trains I’m convinced he’ll never be able to outlast gsp and gspt will have more steam in the later rounds. We’ll just have to wait and see.

by nathan on Jan 18, 2009 2:15 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I agree with everything you say here.

The bottom line is we can speculate all we want, but, as you said, We’ll just have to wait and see.

by Brandon on Jan 18, 2009 3:48 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I agree with the talking out of your ass part, haha. The reason people say BJ has more ways to win is because no way GSP subs BJ, both have knock out power and obviously both can win a decision, so that means BJ has one mroe way to win!

by 1-0 via Arm Triangle on Jan 18, 2009 6:53 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yet you take for granted that Pen can sub GSP when he has NEVER shown he can submit someone as good as GSP, especially since he is now a BB himself. GSP has shown he can dominate EVERYONE on the ground, including BJ (apparently that is the only reason he won the last fight). I’d be more surprised if BJ subbed GSP rather than the other way around, because BJ isn’t going to see a tired GSP and until I see otherwise, everyone gasses against GSP. I can’t see either one subbing the other when they are fresh. They both have 5 subs each against guys who are no where as good at BJJ as they are, so neither has shown they are capable of subbing the other. Yet anything is possible against a gassed opponent.

by Gord on Jan 19, 2009 2:00 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I agree as well. “Bitter rivals”???? Like you said, BJ is the only bitter one. And what’s all this “I’m going to kill you” talk? How childish… The guy is an egomaniac.

by justagirl on Jan 18, 2009 8:51 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

There is NO bitter rivalry here at all. GSP is an awesome Champ who is proven arguably the best, therefore Penn wants to fight him, penn isnt about fightin chumps, just look at his resume. He has respect for GSP like no other, but who doesnt wanna avenge a loss? While at the same time making history, and moving your championship status to legendary?
The whole thing is HYPE machine you guys, ain’t no rivalry, and there doesnt need to be for everybody to wanna see what happens the 31st.

This is all hype, Bj hung out a ton with Sherk after their fight. BJ’s a hype man, and without him talking this fight wouldn’t have the same draw. He’s like Tito that way, except he can back it up. Another thing Bj will be ready to fight no matter what Dana says. He’s been training for this since July.

We can compare skills all day long… who has better jits, wrestling, striking, etc. The fact is, a COMPLETE MMA fighter does not come in any better package than GSP. This lad was born to do what he does and he does it better than anyone at 170…. anyone.

Hmmm if this is the biggest fight of your life you shouldnt be even thinking of a vaccation. Anyway GSP will win this fight, and I have stated along time ago that he would RNC bj and be the first to submit him. I know its a long shot prediction, but will see what happens

1-0 via arm triangle to say its impossible for gsp to sub penn isn’t facing reality. Gsp is a blackbelt in bjj, has superior wrestling and most likely will gain top control throughout the fight. If penn gets rocked badly or hurt or gassed, why is it impossible for a powerful blackbelt like gsp to submit him?? Penn is so cocky and isn’t even considering this even possible which could be his downfall, koscheck laughed at the idea of gsp even talking him down….what happened. Bj is a wizard on the ground and you can’t really have higher bjj than him. But this is an MMA match not a bjj match with a gi on, matt hughes completley out classed royce gracie I believe a 7th degree black belt in bjj, and gsp easily subbed hughes, never say never. I believe cockiness will be his downfall this time just like it was the first time.

I can see the enthusiasm and excitement in this loooooooonnnng string about GSP and PENN!!! This fight is truly one of the biggest fights between two of the greatest fighters of our generation and I personally can’t fcukin wait!!!

Both deserve credit and neither can be spoken of negatively (-that goes out to punk a$$es like JV, zike and even Adam G who sounds like he’s having a fcukin period!!!) because they are true sportsman and warriors and are already GREAT and UNIQUE individuals!!!

hOPE we see a five rounder and who ever wins – both are still nutters and will be legends when they gone – and peeps will look up at them as examples of how to live your life the right way!!! – ya get me!!! :)

ps – Reckon I would kick both their a$$es though – PENN got worse JIjitsu than me and GSP is less diverse than me – ya get me!!!
