lol, then why is he there getting the VIP treatment? use your head bro. Dana said id cro cop won against choi, he’d come back…who do you think he’s going to fight?!
by kevin on Jan 18, 2009 1:23 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Agree 100% Overeem wouldn’t be on the verge of signing with the UFC if he couldn’t pass a drug test. Also I remember rumors of Schilt in negotiations to return to the UFC at the start of last year. Maybe he’s reached an agreement. Both would be excellent additions to the heavyweight division.
by Tyler on Jan 18, 2009 2:03 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
can semmy schilt even make 265? he weighs 293 normally!
by brendan on Jan 18, 2009 2:45 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
He made the weight before in the UFC. I can’t imagine he couldn’t now. Also when Niel Grove who the UFC just signed fought James Thompson in Cage Rage I believe he weighed 300lbs. Now he has to make 265. I guess if the money’s right these guys we’ll just go ahead and cut down to make weight.

The dude has gotten so much bigger in the last couple of years it is ridiculous….. even his face has put on muscle!

The UFC will pay him more than he has been making that is as long as he win`s. If he loses then probally not.
by Beaver on Jan 18, 2009 1:32 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah the roid testing might be a problem… how long before he fights for the UFC would he have to stop juicing?
by BritishBulldog on Jan 18, 2009 1:38 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I also heard Barnett & Fedor suspected of using enhancement drugs and one of the reason`s they will not sign is because they refuse to take the drug test. I think they should test all MMA organization’s not just UFC it would put any doubt to rest. How many fighters would really want to fight in a event that doesn`t test. I think I know wich one lol.
by Beaver on Jan 18, 2009 2:02 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
They do test all the orginazations. After Affliction: Banned they tested Fedor and Tim, and a bunch of the other guys. It’s a matter of what country they’re in. Overeem gets away with it because he fights in Japan a bunch, but Thiago Alves is the perfect example of a UFC fighter that DOES do roids and still passes his tests.
by Mike on Jan 18, 2009 2:06 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
The athletic commission does the testing and as long as Fedor or anyone else for that matter fights in the U.S. they are probably going to be tested…. So Barnett and Fedor probably get tested while fighting in Affliction.
by Psyqo78®™ on Jan 18, 2009 2:07 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Fedor and Barnett are fighting in affliction and they are required by law to get tested by the CSAC. Barnett has used illegal performing enhancing drugs in the past so I’ll give you that. To say Fedor, on the other hand is a ridiculous claim and there is no strong evidence whatsoever to support that.
by Glenn on Jan 18, 2009 2:09 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
thanks Psyqo that`s something I never looked into. I just have been going off what some peaple state in their post. Some peaple are certain fighters do it and never get tested. I take it there are many places to fight that don`t testÉ
by Beaver on Jan 18, 2009 2:18 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
“Beaver” that’s ridiculous who besides you has mentioned performance enhancing drugs and Fedor in the same sentence he’s fought for Pride in Las Vegas and Affliction in California and tested clean both times.
Barnett is a different case he tested positive when he fought with the UFC after he beat Randy Couture for the heavyweight championship.

Hey guys I was asking I don’t follow the steroids scandals in MMA. I heard or should of stated I read this a number of times. I do realize most of the time it’s not true. Tyler if you type steroids and Fedor you will find many of times it has been questioned. Sorry I hurt your feelings Tyler by putting Fedors name in their I only put his in there because he has the biggest name outside the UFC. I wanted to put question marks after my statements but I kept getting some other symbol I did not mean to suggest either of them do it.
by Beaver on Jan 18, 2009 2:49 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Now that a know drug testing is based on were they fight and not who they fight for. What countries don’t test. Has Overeem never been tested? If so why all these remarks about him doing roids?
by Beaver on Jan 18, 2009 2:56 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Beaver, don’t mind them. You learn from making mistakes….Japan and Europe do not test but when in Europe the UFC does their own testing(now)… Just ask Chris Leben….
by Psyqo78®™ on Jan 18, 2009 3:53 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
the remarks about him doing steroids starts with just looking at him.. Maurice Greene never got caught in any roid test either, and he had definitely been juicing in his career, there are ways to get around it and pass the tests..
by RoB on Jan 18, 2009 3:55 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I know he was tested when he fought for Strikeforce in Nov. 2007 in California, and was clean.
Also do you really have to ask why all the steroid rumors for Overeem?
People like to assume the worst and spread rumors because the guy’s bigger and kicking ass right now.
Finally I don’t know why you called me out as the only one you set off with the Fedor steroid questions. Read some other posts others besides me pointed out that was ridiculous as well.
by Tyler on Jan 18, 2009 4:11 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Rob, yeah if you cylce on and off correctly there are ways around it. But now the NSAC is going to fighters camps while training and doing test in the midst of training to make it harder to fool a test.

He is juicing. I’m sure a lot of you on here saw this thread but for those who didn’t…
This isn’t a case of ‘oh he’s buff he must be on roids’ its a case of the amount of bulk he has put on.
If you look at the 2003 photo, he is still in fantastic shape, lean and cut. To get in that 2003 shape he was eating right and working out daily.
He has then exploded in size after being stagnant for a long time = roids.
The arguments on here for that he isn’t juicing are based around “oh well he has worked out loads and changed his diet”. No thats rubbish, he was doing those things before, then started juicing and boom, much bigger.
Another popular one on here is to shout down people by saying that you don’t know $hit about training or nutrition… well i do. I also know a fair amount about juicing and i can say with no bias or alterior motive that he is, the end.
I also think that a lot of top fighters cycle, im not going to name names because thats just dumb speculation. But what i will say is that if you cycle right and include the masking agents in that cycle you can beat the tests.
I work in a job where we get piss tested and i know for a fact that loads of my friends on average an average wage beat the tests on a 6 monthly basis (we get prior warning, stupid i know).
But my point is that professional athletes with a lot more money and a lot more to loose can juice carefully using the designer, more expensive options and never get caught.
by Nick J on Jan 19, 2009 8:50 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
It could happen. Just i don’t know about the whole roids thing… look at his face, now ppl might say he’s not juicing it, but this guy has put on MUSCLE weight not fat, and thats something very hard to do Natural.. u can eat right and work out as much as you want and you’ll get the results eventually.. but not as quick as this guy has.. and if he is natural thats some wicked gen’s he has to be able to do that.

off topic but just heard Coleman’s after fight comments regarding stoppage and his future in MMA…he is seriously dilusional!!!

I thought it was a tad early, but understand it at the same time!
by kevin on Jan 18, 2009 1:38 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
it was def. a tad bit early of a stoppage. Imo Coleman woulda prob got the take down, just cause of how he was getting all his other take downs.
by mmanutZ on Jan 18, 2009 2:37 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
yeah there was only 20 seconds left the ref shoulda given him a chance
by brendan on Jan 18, 2009 2:46 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
It could have continued, but the ref was on his way to stopping it as Coleman was dropping from the uppercut. He looked like he was out when he was going down so I understand the ref stepping in.
by GregC on Jan 18, 2009 4:02 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I also think that it was stopped to early and that there was a possibilty that he could have got the take down. I agree the ref did get in the way, and Colemans slow reaction was as much to do with being fatigued as it was from the punch he recived. It should definately have been left a bit longer. It sounded like Rogan was rooting for Coleman after a while. I was hoping he would win after watching this second shit performance by Shogun.

seriously Im not even an Overeem fan, I think he looks like a dick. But the whole roid thing is stupid. Yeah they will make you stronger and faster, but look and Bonner. he juiced and isnt dominant. Franca juiced not dominate Tim sylvia. I can go on for days. Most people who juice arent usually to top guys. Bottom line steroids wont make you great without being pretty fucking good to begin with
by LOKIE on Jan 18, 2009 1:42 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
are u saying sylvia wasnt dominant during the time he was using? and sherk wasnt peaking while using?
by gobrowns on Jan 18, 2009 2:08 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
that is ridiculous.. of course they gain ALOT from using perf-enhancing-drugs strentgh, speed/explosiveness, cardio.. they might not get better technique from it but it’s so much easier to perform when you know your not gonna get tired
by RoB on Jan 18, 2009 3:59 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
WTB steroids which makes me faster and stronger ! Seriously most people dont even know concept how most of pro athletes use steroids. Yes most of them use steroids difference is how good is your lab to make good enough cocktail/program to make it disappear in right time. Any back to concept I never used drugs but I was quite good in few sports where I reached competition level so Ive seen quite a lot stuff. Steroids are used mainly for their regeneration effects nobody except bodybuilders use them to make just muscles. Steroids allow your body work twice hard but still if you dont work extremly hard (yeah steroids dont give you some abilities for free) you wont get any advantage except some useless effects. I dont want to be advocate of steroids but we should accept the fact that its use widely no matter what we will do. In real life situation would you use some pills to make your wage 5x bigger ? I bet you would do and thats what all pro athletes do..
by dude on Jan 20, 2009 1:44 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
You are a retard, every top athlete uses steroids. How you think Randy Couture can still have such muscles at his age? IT IS IMPOSSIBLE without steroids since the natural testosterone and growth hormone levels start to drop after age of 40. Do you seriously think drug tests help anything these days, the steroid business is always 1 step ahead with undetectable steroids. Jesus people are stupid. And don’t even get me started with Brock Lesnar.
by Reaverr on Jan 18, 2009 10:47 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Alistair does not use roids.
He only trains hard and eats right. You will see he’ll be the same when he fights in the UFC.
by tmm on Jan 18, 2009 1:38 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
you are crazy look at how much muscle he has gained in the last couple of years
by Scott on Jan 18, 2009 2:25 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
that’s the point you retard. He gained muscle in the last YEARS, not in the last WEEKS.
A question Scott (if that is your real name): Do you know anything about sports and muscle gain? Because I know, and it is absolutely possible to become that big. Of course it comes down to genetics. And Alistair seems to have great genetics, and a great work ethic.
by tmm on Jan 18, 2009 3:59 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I’m glad you said it. When I read that post I was thinking the same thing Overeem is Six feet Five and over a couple YEARS has gotten bigger, but I said to myself someone that dumb wouldn’t understand anyway.
by Tyler on Jan 18, 2009 4:15 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Maybe he hasn’t but usually your face doesn’t get bigger from working out hard genetics or not…. He has gained 50 solid pounds, either he is a freak of nature or he is becoming one…..
by Psyqo78®™ on Jan 18, 2009 4:35 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t like making unfounded accusations against fighters, so I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt on the steroid stuff. He has gained a tremendous amount of muscle, but he’s also just coming into his prime and he could have done it naturally. I’m tired of hearing people say definitively that someone is on steroids, wait until they fail a drug test to crucify them.
by GregC on Jan 18, 2009 7:03 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
If it was that easy to gain muscles then everybody would be doing it..
by RoB on Jan 18, 2009 8:44 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
What are you talking about Rob? It’s not easy to get muscular and in shape and everyone in America doesn’t have a great work ethic to hit the gym lift weights, exercise and follow a healthy diet right. That’s why the obesity problem in this country keeps getting worse. Not to mention not many people are 6 ft. 5 inches with a huge frame.
I guess it’s just easier for some people to just assume someone’s cheating than giving them credit for working hard and improving.

MAN! I hope Overeem gets signed, I always liked him in PRIDE, but the roids thing bothers me, he wasn’t this big just a year or 2 ago when he won the Strikeforce belt. If he is juicing, he will have to stop to fight in the UFC, which will leave him looking like Popeye with no spinach.

Overeem do steroids, so does lesnar and Carwin, it’s possible to pass the tests while still doing the drugs, and many do.
