Ken Shamrock to taste 'Redrum' at 'Massacre' on February 13

Ken Shamrock will return to mixed martial arts competition on February 13 as part of the ‘Valentine’s Eve Massacre’ event at the Selland Arena in Fresno, California, co-promoted between Wargods and Ken Shamrock Productions, according to a recent interview with TheGarv.com.

Facing him will be heavyweight pitfighter and Gladiator Challenge veteran Bo Cantrell. "Redrum" was last seen eating canvas against Kimbo Slice back at EliteXC 'Renegade' in November of 2007, his fifth straight loss.

Expected to join them on the card are Wargods’ heavyweight champion Lavar "Big" Johnson, Buddy Roberts, Mike Moreno, Tonya Evinger, Jennifer Tate and Isaac De Jesus.

Also appearing is the world’s most dangerous offspring, Ryan Shamrock (1-1).

Ken (26-13-2) is a mixed martial arts pioneer who has not won a professional fight in more than four years. In fact, he has lost eight of his last 10 fights dating back to 2001 and he’s on a five-fight losing skid.

A UFC Hall of Fame inductee, Ken dropped his first and only bout under the ProElite banner, losing to Robert "Buzz" Berry via knockout at Cage Rage 25: "Bring it On" earlier this year.

It was supposed to be a warm-up for the "World’s Most Dangerous Man" to groom him for a big money match down the road against either Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson or Ken’s younger brother, Frank.

He didn’t deliver … and he rarely does these days.

Shammy was eventually matched up against Kimbo at EliteXC’s "Saturday Night Fights" on October 4 on CBS, but was forced to withdraw — literally hours before showtime — after an errant headbutt in sparring opened up a severe laceration above his eye.

UFC castaway and undercard fighter Seth Petruzelli took his place and the rest (as they say) is history.

Ken Shamrock apparently, is not.

Give me a break! Shamrock vs. Bo? Is this a joke? April fools?
Somebody pull shamrocks fighting license.

by john on Jan 16, 2009 12:36 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

LMAO, well, I guess some people don’t know when to quit. Little too early for April fools; maybe after he eats canvas this time, he’ll call it quits finally.

Shamrock is going to submit this guy so I highly doubt he’s going to retire. He’ll fight three times this year.

by Tyler on Jan 17, 2009 11:50 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Ken Shamrock should be on the AARP line..not fighting in any MMA event. Ken! LET IT GO.. pull his license for real.. he is a hazard to himself. Dude.. made his name.. got his fame.. now is turining in this.. since 2007 he is 8/10 on the losing side.. and lost 5 in a row.. last being to Robert Berry at Cage Rage 25 3:26 in the first round Ko’d by a " jab ".. he got dropped by a " jab ".. he is turning himself.. into a MMA reject.. where as he could of ..and still slighty can save some face.. by know when it’s your time.. Ken.. Your not a Randy Couture.. and even his time is nearing the end of his MMA career. Change is a part of life.

by PhilQNY on Jan 16, 2009 12:59 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I agree. Shamrock’s time i long gone. Now the athletic commissions and promoters need to do the responsible thing by Ken and protect him from himself.

by PW on Jan 16, 2009 1:26 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Pw and Phil are exactly correct. O damn, I dont think he will ever quit, thats why is license needs to be revoked. its the responsible thing to do. Its not so much the loses that make me think this way about him, but he hasnt even been competitive lately against The JOe shmoe’s of the world.

His son is fighting on the same card. that should tell u its time to hang it up!

I would prefer to see ken go back to the WWE then continue to performe worse and worse in a cage!

Has nothing to do with this story, but I just saw Dana’s video blog #5. Ehh. It’s ok. No fighters, no behind the scenes. Just dana in another bet. I thought it was supposed to be focused more on what Dana does to prepare for the actual UFC event.

What surprises me more is the people who actually wanna pay to go and see it!!!

I wouldn’t go if you paid me!

Just be glad he isn’t fighting Lavar Johnson as originally rumored. He would have died in the ring.

Good luck to Ken… a legend in tesport..well past his prime. But still a legend, and pioneer.

ken please stop! my god if he loses to bo how lower can he sink.i hope he gets the win so maybe he will retire but if he does win he is so delusional that he will think he is back in the mix and ready for the belt.

What if Shamrock had gotten to face Kimbo that night and beat him? It would have elevated Shamrock like a rocket and not been nearly as bad for Kimbo or elitexc. Even if Shamrocj had faught and lost it would have been better for elitexc. I loved watching this guy fight back in the day. He was good he beat bas rutten etc. I’d like to see him get a win and perhaps face mark coleman. Both are 44 years old. Two hall of famers…better than fighting Frank. Frank should fight Tito and probably will.

He fell and tapped against Kimbo , maybe somebody will throw another banana peel in there for Shamrock. Cause I seriously doubt they have the funds too ask Cantrell too lose on purpose like Elite did.

by dayzah on Jan 16, 2009 1:01 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

lol I thought that fight was a little fishy too. I wouldnt doubt it if Bo took the money.

by rctrue on Jan 16, 2009 3:57 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Have you ever seen any of Cantrell’s fights before the one with Kimbo?
It was no act he didn’t want to get hit and wanted outta there.

WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!!

by Spyder on Jan 16, 2009 12:45 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Besides the first question that comes to mind when I think of Ken Shamrock “Why are you still fighting?” The other one that really gets me is, “Why are you fighting Heavy weight?” This guy is double stupid.

by O damn he got caught on Jan 16, 2009 12:47 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Why dont they have Shammy fight Coleman and at UFC 100? They can call the fight “The Battle of the Has-Been, Delusional Morons”

GO HOME KEN SHAMROCK!!

by sac165 on Jan 16, 2009 1:33 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

This is a perfect example of why fighters need retirement plans and a plan b. Nobody wants to see Ken fight.

by DSmith on Jan 16, 2009 1:36 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

i think this is a good fight for ken…bo cantrell is a joke man….plus if shamrock can string two wins together maybe we can see shamrock vs shamrock finally

by greg on Jan 16, 2009 1:46 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I think you are the only person who actually wants to see that.

This gut is what you call it…….. a big douche bag

by jimmy on Jan 16, 2009 2:24 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Dawm u guys can be haters sure he sucks now but let him fight its what he enjoys to do he should be a able to do it as long as he can or wants just as long as there not putting him in big shows just let him fight in small shows if he wants its not like u people are being forced to watch him u forget many of these people started fighting becouse they enjoy it not so they can be the best and retire at the top. He oviously likes to fight would u rather him do what anderson silva is doing and try to retire before he ever loses

by The Philicutioner on Jan 16, 2009 2:48 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

It’s not that people don’t want to see him in the ring because he’s not anywhere close to the fighter he was in his prime; it is a huge health risk for him at this point. Getting punched in the head and knocked unconscious as often as he does will lead to severe medical consequences later in life, and for him that’s not too far off. Former WWE wrestler and Harvard grad Chris Nowinski is heading a huge comprehensive study on the long-term effects of multiple concussions, and he’s finding countless examples of depression, bi-polar swings and suicide. That’s why Ken needs to stop, whether he enjoys fighting or not.

by PW on Jan 16, 2009 3:18 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

personally i would like to see him retire for his own sake. that being said, im in the belief that your body is the only thing we truly own and should be allowed to whatever you want to it.

by Egads on Jan 17, 2009 1:55 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

He talks to much Shiiiiet and thats why people think he is a moron. IF he was humble and didnt say that “he started this” and “people need to respect me” then noone would care. I couldnt care less if he got his face broken, but i do care when he starts bitching and then pulls out of a main event card… I actually wanted to see kimbo vs him…

by What? on Jan 16, 2009 3:03 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Agreed. Let the guy fight. He is still tough he went three rounds with Tito even if he was getting dominated how many of us could do that? He is fighting some other dud who has lost 5 in a row. Anderson Silva by the way has lost 4 times. One was BS so 3 times. The 185 division is the worst one in the UFC. Could Silva beat some of the 170 guys like Thiago Alves or GSP? He already got worked for nearly 30 minutes by Ryo Chonan. He is not unbeatable. He was in trouble against Hendo and Nate and even Lindland had him down raining shots. He is not 28-1 like say Fedor.

by hatteras on Jan 16, 2009 3:14 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

as long as it’s not PPV. some people will still buy tickets to see shamrock fight live…for whatever reason.

by B_Hos on Jan 16, 2009 3:34 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Silva is def no fedor and can be beat. I think travis lutter almost beat him until he gasses out. If he didnt gass he could have submitted him. He had him MOUNTED!!

by What? on Jan 16, 2009 4:16 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

can anybody say…..“left field”

Cantrell 10-11-0, worse then Kens! Ken must have had to look far and wide for guy with a worse record then him!

shammy will lose probly in the first round, i dont see him beating anyone at this age

by dn99 on Jan 16, 2009 5:28 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I feel bad for the guy that ends up losing to Ken… Never know it could happen, right?

Ken will have to milk that win for all it is worth! That fighter might be called something cool when they announce him into the ring, but really he’ll always be “Joe – the man who lost to ken – Schmoe”

Kind of hope Ken makes it happen.
