UFC Quick Quote: Dana White is cool with The Ultimate Fighter house

"If you take any young guys, from a frat house, and put them alone and together you’re going to get that kind of stuff. Welcome to dealing with young guys. I’ve talked to the pro skaters and snowboarders and they helicopter guys up to a house and sometimes they get snowed in. They told me that some of the [expletive] that happens with those guys makes what happened on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ look like a joke."
-- Semen-laced sushi and numerous glass-throwing incidents be damned, UFC President Dana White tells Yahoo!Sports.com that mixed martial arts fans who watch The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) on Spike TV should not expect drastic changes -- if any at all -- when it comes to the questionable behavior of the up-and-coming fighters on the show. The "U.S. vs. U.K."-themed ninth installment will debut on April 1, featuring 16 American and 16 British fighters who will enter into international battle for the right to earn a "six figure" UFC contract in the 185 pound and 170 pound divisions.

Like anything reality, they get worse over time, not better! It’s like the video blogs, they’re becoming scripted! Last event was the shock pen, I’ve only seen 2 episodes this time, but I see a trend, the guitar hero! It’s getting too scripted! I’m reading a lot of posts lately and not posting as much, but have noticed a trend that is getting on my nerves. I’m planning on writing about this and putting it in the proper thread, look for it tomorrow!
lastly, this new guy Graham yesterday, I’m urging all maniacs to just ignore this troll! He gets off on all of us guys with a firm grasp of the sport, actually answering to his troll posts! have a good one guys!

the obvious marketing under the guise of a candid vlog….yeah…it’s a little annoying, but I still like these things. I just loved playing ping-pong with my Flexolite ping pong paddle. …

Rumble Johnson wants to kick matt Hughe’s ass. Here is a quote from Rumble:
“I’ll fight anybody the UFC puts in front of me but I’d like to fight Matt Hughes one day. People say his level of fighting is better than mine because he has a lot of experience. I don’t care. He’s a dick. Hopeufully I’ll get a chance to knock him out like Thiago Alves did…
When I fought Tommy [Speer] he was weird. Me and my friends were walking out of the locker room and he walked by. I said what’s up to him and nodded my head and he kept walking like I was invisible. I thought ok, you’re like that. I’m friendly. You only have one life to live. But if he’s like that I know why Matt Serra wants to beat his ass…

LOL, nice one John, who can blame Rumble for jumping on the Hughes hatewagon?? This isn’t a fight I would mind seeing but i don’t see it ever happening; I don’t think Hughes could take Johnson, Hughes would end up on the receiving end of another highlight reel KO. Though, I do wonder when he said this?? If its recently then, thats a long time to just sit on this without mentioning it up until now..

John, thats pretty funny; I can definatley see Hughes in that light. Can’t blame Rumble for callin him out, but why wait so long? The Speer fight was a long time ago.

Plus its no secret that Matt Hughes has about zero stand up. no disrespect to Matt Hughes, but rumble should be calling out fighters that are more relevant, like Thiago Alves or someone that will put him closer to a title shot. I guess Hughes still has a name, but there are more interesting match ups for Rumble.

Who is this sexicutioner guy??? Are you mexi’s perveted uncle or something?

Thanks guys. I never hold back. I find something interesting and I pass it along.
James S: I agree that beating hughes does little for Rumble’s career, but we are talking about fighters and sometimes fighters want to kick certain peoples ass. and I LOVE IT!
About a month ago BJ Penn was quoted as saying he wants to fight Hughes again. He was asked why, since hughes is irrelevant now a days. BJ responded: “U beat me up, so I want to beat his ass” or something to that effect.
Rampage wanted Forrest before a title shot…why? He wants to give Forrest a beating.
Shogun wanted to fight Coleman although Coleman isnt relevant…why? Simple, he wants to beat that ass!
Sometimes fighters just want to beat a certain person’s ass, and they put that in front of their careers. I have no problem with this. If you dont liuke someone that bad, what better way to deal with it then in the Octagon
For example: I hate Dustin Diamond “screech”…I would give my right nut to have him locked inside of an Octagon with me! lol….I would take that fight with NO TRAINING on 5 minutes notice! lol

actually Kevin I like reading your posts, and sometimes I scan through just to see your thoughts on some of the headlines, but I have to say Graham had some good input in a couple of his postings…..look forward to what you have to say tomorrow!

I would think that the reputation of the sport would be a factor, but I’m sure he’s weighed it and feels that any publicity is good publicity. I mean, I did some shit in college that would make these guys look tame, but I wouldn’t want it on cable and I certianly don’t think my university would use the footage to promote enrollment.

Skaters are normally the scum of society. But that’s besides the point. :)
I don’t mind the drama as much, I’d just rather see more training. They don’t have to completely stop showing the drunken antics, but it wouldn’t hurt to cut down a bit. We get it, they’re drunk and acting like idiots. Hillllllllllllarious.

I take it you’ve had your ass beat by skaters before. Thats cool man, it happens.
Anyway, when did the semen laced sushi occur? Maybe thats what happened to Joachim Hansen.

Wow, that was a really pathetic response. Are you still in high school? Haha.
And if any skater wants to come see me at my gym, they’re more than welcome!

That’s hilarious… yawn Something tells me that you don’t train. But that’s not surprising. You know, considering you actually think that skaters beat people up. lol.
You should have let the other guy’s post end it. You ruined it, kid.

At this point of the game.. I mcuh rather see the “Contender” format for the UFC reality show.. then the way TUF is set up now.. I think the production of the Contender is great.. I really get into that show.. The Contender Muay Thai was off the charts.. I really just love there set up.. they show the families behind the fighters.. the training..It really well scripted show.. and I would much rather see the Contender Format.. then the current TUF format for the UFC reality show.

TUF is a discusting show,if the next one is anything like the last one I will not be watching it, it made me fucking sick to be honest, why would Dana want to portray his athletes as a bunch of stupid idiots.
by the spyder on Jan 14, 2009 1:04 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I think I’ve figured it out. TUF is to pick up new fans (not us). The demographic is probably young males age 15-35 or so. Most Males age 15-35 don’t quite get MMA yet, but they appreciate idiotic behavior.

Same principle applies to the crowd that got into “Jackass”.

I couldn’t agree more. The training and hard work is what I’d rather watch.
by mmaplaygroundMODSsuck on Jan 14, 2009 11:02 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
The problem is it’s getting old. It also is not help getting the sport regulated in New York. I am sure that assemblymen douche has seen clips and thinks MMA is about hurting people, getting drunk and acting like an id*ot. I am sick of TUF, it holds up title’s and now the whole Rich/Hendo thing is just lame. I can only take comfort in the fact that I know eventually the show will get cancelled.

BNF. well said. take the booze out of the house and we will see a big difference. make it to were when 1 fighter wins, his team gets a phone call home and or a movie night or something as a reward. enough of the real world b.s.

The difference here is you got 16 Americans and 16 Brits in the same house under the same roof competing against eachother, if anything I expect some drinking and then an all out brawl this time.

I was personally sickened by what went on in the house on the last season, pissing on people fruit and actually letting them eat, jerking off on sushi is one thing but letting someone eat it is fucking discusting. That was potentially the last episode I watched, anymore stuff getting eaten like that and I would have stopped watching. I also believe that the way the show portrays half of these clowns is brutal, you would never see a show like this on tv about hockey or football players I just dont think any professional league would allow there players/league to be portrayed as stupid idiots regardless of how many stupid things you read or see in the news. This show portrays half of these guys as caged animals which I dont believe the message about MMA is. Act like a professional or go home , my rules would be very simple, I loved the show in the begining but have started to not watch it here and there because of all the stupid shit that goes on that just makes these guys look like idiots. If I were new to the sport and watched an episode of TUF, Professionals is the last word that would come to mind.
by the spyder on Jan 14, 2009 1:02 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I’m in the same boat. I stopped watching the majority of the shows because of all the crap going on in the house.
