I hope he really is 100% this time, hopefully he can fight off the TD but if it goes to the ground I can see Shogun pulling off the sub; if it stays on the feet I see Coleman getting destroyed. I just don’t see how Coleman wins this, unless he lands a huge unexpected shot like Randleman vs Cro Cop.

I absolutely lOVE this kid. Easily one of my top 3 favorite fighters! What a class act. Makes no excuses for his injury, gives Forrest all the credit…wont even guarentree a win, just an exciting performance. HOw can people not root for this kid!
He is the m,ost well rounded fighter in the UFC LHW division and he is still only 26 years old. iMO, when on top of his game, he is easily the best fighter at 205 on the PLANET!!!

Cant wait to see him back in his world class form, so the haters can find out what an amazing fighter he truly is. I would bet anything that before he turns 30, he will boast the UFC gold around his waste!

He is my favourite fighter. This is a huge fight. I’m still worried about his knee put hopefully he puts a clinic on Coleman. Really hope he comes good again, he’s already done so much at such a young age. Here’s hoping ’09 is a big year for Mauricio.

Shogun vs Rampage LHW Championship match??

That is assuming..

Rashad vs Page goes down..

We.. also have Superbowl weekend..

We.. also have Superbowl weekend..Lyoto vs Thiago.. ( could be fight of the year nominee )

We.. also have Superbowl weekend..Lyoto vs Thiago.. ( could be fight of the year nominee ).. I think all the title ..and top 5 LHW fight match ups will be insane.

Im so gutted I cant make it to Ireland for this one. Xmas has killed me! Shogun is soooo exciting to watch and he WILL make a statement with this fight.

I think a lot of the ex-Pride fighters got respect and became fan favourites because of their style of fighting rather than just winning. Whereas in the UFC everyone is so focused on who’s winning more than seeing the most entertaining fight possible. This is why the Pride organisation booked so many fighters and matched them up really well because they knew certain people would bring it….and Shogun can definately bring it. He just needs to let go and he will be fine. All the skills are there and he has so much raw ability its scary. I think thats why I love his fights so much…that edgy rawness and desire to break people.

Damn Im pumped for this fight!! GO GO SHOGUN!!

Man I wish Ufc Alowed Stomps

by DBG on Jan 6, 2009 9:36 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Too brutal, with Athletes like GSP and guys like Thiago Alves, that would be some serious shit, can you imagine Brock Lesnar stomping on someone’s face while their on the ground pressed up against the cage?

by O Damn he got caught on Jan 6, 2009 9:50 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

for sure bro! i’ve seen some fights in pride when guys were on their backs and getting kicked in the head over and over! dude it was brutal. i like the rules ufc and mma in the states has. but i’m seeing more direct elbows to the top of the head. i thought it had the be a horizontal sweep hit, not a vertical hit. anyone know what i’m taking about, or am i goin crazy?

oh and this is for kevin. my bad bro, when i said, “u heard it here first.” i was talking about my prediction on a second round TKO and the fact that i said it first on that certain post. but in all honesty, u did say it first.

Yea that Koppenhaver vs J-rock fight and even a lot of Kenny Florians fights have some brutal elbows; I’m not too sure about the rules on elbows, I think as long as it stays away from the back of the head at the base of the neck, and the spine, it’s probably just very painful as opposed to seriously damaging. Though I can see a point for stopping elbows to the top of the head, thats not going to KO anyone, it’s just going to hurt like hell and cut the shit out of someone.

by O Damn he got caught on Jan 6, 2009 10:15 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

well when anderson silva fought lutter he used elbows to the top of the head. and because it was a horizontal sweep they said it was ok. but even randy was a little confused with the situation. and if randy was confused, then its totally ok if we are too. but that j-rock fight had alot vertical hits, and i thought they were illegal blows. but maybe the rules changed alittle. who knows…

Here is the only Foul regarding elbows I could find at UFC.com:

10. Striking downward using the point of the elbow.

by O Damn he got caught on Jan 6, 2009 10:35 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yes, elbows that are horizontal are good but they need to clear up what they mean by top of the head as well. I can’t remember where I heard it but I think they said that if you were wearing headphones the area to the front of the band is fine but on it and behind is illegal.

I’m not a fan of the elbows at all.

by RobH86 on Jan 6, 2009 3:58 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah GSP’s wrestling combined with stomps would be unstopable! lol

plz shogun win this one!

by ukmma on Jan 6, 2009 10:09 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

I hope Shogun takes an impressive victory.
He seems a sound, humble guy.
If Coleman wins, it doesn’t really push the division forward any, as ultimately he’s not going to be a title contender, whereas Shogun has the all-round abilities to push for contention.
Hopefully we won’t come un-stuck with Coleman!

by nick-sub on Jan 6, 2009 10:11 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Shogun is straight up class. A lot of these other fighters that bitch and make pity party excuses about why they loss after a fight need to take this dudes example. It would be awesome if he could win by breaking Coleman’s arm with a kimura and after tell Coleman “The difference is I meant to break your arm!” That wouldn’t happen though. Shogun is too stand up for that.

shogun aint too stand up.. did you see when he made randleman cry like a kid. shogun has sick jits bro.

Figure of speech, guy. It’s a general compliment.

I want to see Shogun in top form again. The UFC has never had a LHW champion like shogun. Tito should be the mascot for tapout arrogant and in your face. Chuck incoherent and sometimes sedated. Rampage well the name says it all. Forest is cool but he couldn’t defend his title. Rashad tittie twister has to go. Sugar taunted ,grabbed his balls and then smacked forest in the chin with it and he becomes the new UFC LHW champion. Entertainment for the whole family.
Bring some respect back to the Title.

Here here…Shogun and Fedor are my favourite fighters as they are both epitomes of class, and they never have a bad word to say about anyone. Rashad “I’ll act like a fu*king prick in the cage” Evans would get destroyed by Shogun when he returns to 100% fitness. Rampage and Shogun II will be epic too but I see it ending again with Shogun’s hand raised, with Rampage face down on the ground or needing urgent medical assistance.

by jayshogun on Jan 6, 2009 1:50 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Coleman wins by Ground and Pound decision. Shogun may be only 27 years old but with the battles he’s been in and the surgeries he’s had I don’t think he has much more left than Coleman.

by Tyler on Jan 6, 2009 1:57 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I hope Tyler isnt right, but if Shogun comes in and isnt the old Shogun of Pride, I might just give up on him. :(

—The question is just weather the best Shogun will show up. If he does, I think he’ll have a belt, maybe, him and Jackson will be one hell of a fight.

by The Anomaly on Jan 6, 2009 2:18 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Shogun needs an impressive victory to remind everyone why he was the light heavyweight golden boy not too long ago!

Plus Coleman is just a prick, he was an ahole after the pride fight and he still continues to act like an ahole
“i plead the fifth”- wat kind of stupid sh*t is that! i hope Shogun beats him down!

Anyone besides me get real annoyed by the dude announcing the event?? UFC 93 COLEMAN RUA

That dude is terrible!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SHOGUN!!!

by Khaos_Warrior on Jan 6, 2009 3:00 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

yea haha they never had that before just added in a random voice. but im picking shogun to win, but honestly i want coleman to win and i hope i get what i want:P but honestly both guys deserve it. shogun if he wins can start a new chapter to a brand new tear through the lhw division. and coleman will add a final chapter in his book as the comeback story. as long as hendo wins ufc 93 will be good in my books tho:D WAR HENDO

Coleman makes me laugh, I hope shogun knocks his ass out.

by nathan on Jan 6, 2009 4:38 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I’m not convinced that Shogun isn’t overrated, but He should take Coleman.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Jan 6, 2009 7:37 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Who else does he need to beat to cement his status as one of the best P4P fighters in the world…your homeboy Chuck, who u must think is the best fighter in the world? Overrated…check the definition of the word out before u start throwing it around.

by jayshogun on Jan 6, 2009 9:39 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Weird response. 1st answer, he’ll need to beat some UFC LHW’s. 2nd, Chuck and I have no relationship. 3rd, I looked up “overrated” on webster’s dictionary online and it said “of overrate.” So I looked up overrate and it said “Make to high an estimate of.” So now that I’m prepared to use the word, I would like to reaffirm that I’m not convinced that he’s not overrated. He is considered by many to be the top LHW. The UFC’s LHW division is considered by most to be stacked. Shogun lost to Forrest. Does that mean he sucks? No!, but it does mean he needs to beat some UFC LHW contenders before I will be convinced that he’s the best or top 5. Oh, and Coleman doesn’t count.
