Josh Neer video after arrest indicates Mac Danzig fight not a lock

The reporter at the end of the feature hints that the promotion is currently deciding whether or not Neer will compete against Mac Danzig at UFC Fight Night 17 on February 7. He says that a decision will be made earlier this week. We'll keep you posted. Check out the video after the jump.

what part of “i apologize, i made bad choices and i want to move on” did you not hear? hes obviously owning up to it, and everyone makes mistakes man, you guys shouldnt hate on the guy… ive done some pretty dumb shit in my life too, were all human

by brendan on Jan 4, 2009 7:44 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

if he gets let go, it would make the UFC look dumb, Rampage makes a mistake because he had “delirium,” but Neer gets fired?
Babalu gets let go for holding a choke too long, but Rampage tees of on wand for 3 extra shots and nothing happens!
I see a pattern! I’m a Page fan and see why they have the double standard, but you can’t! it’s professional sports! The commission will step in at some point!

We’ll see what he pleads at arraignment

by El_Mexicutioner, formerly The _Mexicutioner on Jan 4, 2009 7:56 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

everyone pleads not guilty mexi, it’s customary, then you make a deal!

by kevin on Jan 4, 2009 7:58 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Depends on if they have a deal made at the arraignment that you’re cool with, then you plead guilty or no contest. In my recent legal woe, thats what they did for me. Was I sorry for what I did to the guy? Not in the least. The only thing I was sorry about was the fact that I had to spend a little time away from my family.
And for all of you that may come out and call me a hypocrite, the person I did what I did to had it coming-he did something to a person in my family for no reason at all. Neer and Rampage showed blatant, unprovoked recklessness and disregard for numerous innocent people. They are both lucky they didn’t kill anyone.
Also, I didnt know that leading the cops on a high speed chase was a ‘federal’ offense. That cant be right, otherwise he would be in a federal court for this. The reporter probably just meant it was a felony charge, but hey I’m no lawyer.

Sounds like some tuff times. Is your family OK??

They are fine. The other guy, well that was a different story. We are all good though.

Well, while we disgree on dick kissing in the UFC, at lease we agree that Neer and Page don’t deserve slack.

jUst call in mach Sakurai as a replacement and let him knock Danzigs head off again!

by john on Jan 5, 2009 7:52 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Neer is a moron. Also, why are reporters afraid to ask Rampage the same type of questions, and instead throw him softballs or act like nothing has even happened at all? Hmmmm, I wonder why.

by El_Mexicutioner, formerly The _Mexicutioner on Jan 4, 2009 5:57 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

We all know why.

Political correctness is insaneness.

by Lester the Pimp on Jan 4, 2009 8:01 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

lol the black community would have been up in arms if rampage lost his job, “leave it to the white man to fire a guy just because he made a mistake” lol i can hear the nonsense already

by brendan on Jan 4, 2009 9:02 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Put Nover in there against Danzig. Do or die for both!

by PACO on Jan 4, 2009 6:02 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

by El_Mexicutioner, formerly The _Mexicutioner on Jan 4, 2009 6:03 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

by randy murders on Jan 4, 2009 6:14 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I’d love to see Nover beat up Danzig!! MAke it happen Joe Silva!!

by 1-0 via Arm Triangle on Jan 4, 2009 7:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

nover would get owned by danzig wherever the fight went. nover has never even fought anyone worth talking about and in my opinion he has a long way to go before he’s in mac’s caliber of fighters.

by jonsey on Jan 4, 2009 8:26 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

call danny abbadi, he’ll fight anyone.

by bradpittfightclub on Jan 4, 2009 6:03 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I traded Danny Abbadi for cigarettes in jail.

by PW on Jan 4, 2009 10:22 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Of course he wont be fighting on the 17th, he shouldnt be allowed if he does. Its always easy to apoligize after youve been caught doing something stupid.

by the spyder on Jan 4, 2009 6:19 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Bring back Melvin Guillard! I mean, I know the reason Mac can’t fight this guy is because the dude got in trouble with some stuff (just like Guillard), but I would love nothing more than to see Melvin come back and knock Danzigs head backwards…

by BrutalKnockout. on Jan 4, 2009 6:27 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

best idea I’ve heard in a long time…and guy below me, I’d pick melvin! Danzig looked good on TUF because the competition sucked!

by kevin on Jan 4, 2009 7:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I love Guillard! I’d love to see him back, especially against a bum like Danzig, whom I cant stand!!

by 1-0 via Arm Triangle on Jan 4, 2009 7:22 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

whats the danzig hate all about? i don’t know anyone who is a fan of melvin guillard. what the hell is wrong with you people?

by jonsey on Jan 4, 2009 8:30 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I hate Danzig and love Guillard, I’d love to see them fight each other!

by 1-0 via Arm Triangle on Jan 4, 2009 8:45 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

danzig is a douche and melvin is a druggie! I’ll take the druggie over the vegan who thinks he’s better than he is any day!

by kevin on Jan 4, 2009 8:51 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Not only does he think he’s better than he is, he thinks he’s better than everyone else. Not just at fighting either. He thinks he’s a better person than everyone else because he reduced his carbon footprint or whatever those self-righteous hemp-wearing douches like to think of themselves.

by PW on Jan 4, 2009 10:24 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Melvin’s a bum, Danzig would take him out easily.

by the spyder on Jan 4, 2009 6:43 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

No way possible dude. Ok, so maybe a submission would take him out, but his speed and strength would knock Danzig out so fast that he wouldnt even have the time to try.

by BrutalKnockout. on Jan 4, 2009 6:47 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Well I would love to see that cause Melvin has 1/8 of 1% of the skill of Danzig and I just cant see it happening. If it did though I would love to put some $$$ on it with you.

by the spyder on Jan 4, 2009 6:53 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

“Melvin has 1/8 of 1% of the skill of Danzig”
Are you serious? Where in the world did you get that percentage at?

by BrutalKnockout. on Jan 4, 2009 7:15 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I just watched the video, “Rise to stardum”, what the hell is she talking about, he fights in the UFC but I would not put him in the Star catergory phh not even close. He is not a contender, he has more losses than wins and the only good thing I can say about him is that he can take a punch. I would have know problem seeing him disappear from the UFC, mind you if he did just go away unannounced and did not fight anymore personally I dont think I would even notice. I think it would irresponsible for the UFC to let him fight this soon after the incidence. It would send the wrong message to others, he should feel lucky that he didnt kill himself or someone else.

by the spyder on Jan 4, 2009 7:03 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

he has fans?

by jackalus on Jan 4, 2009 7:04 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I did what his mangers asked and withheld judgment until all the facts are in. Well, I was less than impressed with this interview. Accepting an interview only to repeat your desire to “move on” may have sounded good to your lawyer but I think it rings hollow with fight fans.

I live in the Tampa Bay area and have tickets to Fight Night 17. I am not looking forward to seeing Neer fight. If they do allow him to fight, I’m hoping Mac gives him the beating he deserves.

Here’s some advice from someone who is not an lawyer: Act like you’re sorry. Call what you did a mistake. Apologize to your family, friends, and fans for this embarassing and irresponsible act/mistake. Then, ask for everyone’s support as you attempt to move on!

You don’t get to move on just because you say you’re moving on. Don’t work that way when you’re a public figure bro!

Good luck. You’re going to need it!

I don’t understand why he was saying the ameture mma is bad.

a lot of the local shows in my area are filled with barroom brawlers whose only credentials are that they wrestled in high school or something. they don’t respect the sport or act in a professional manner but just want to beat people up. i’m guessing that’s what he’s alluding to.

by ActionJackson on Jan 4, 2009 8:28 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

It’s not a FEDERAL offense. It’s a state FELONY offense. The reporter got it wrong when talking about the evading police charge.

Just an FYI.

by Fluyid on Jan 4, 2009 10:24 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Only in Iowa lol. UFC=Ultimate Fighting Circuit. Evading and Eluding= Federal Offense.

by halljam2 on Jan 4, 2009 11:56 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I was looking forward to Danzig losing again and Neer getting a W but noooo..

As my friend said “If you have a few thousand dollars and dont feel like driving for a few years, a high speed police chase is not such a bad time.”
