Shogun grabs for another clinch and Coleman gets a takedown. Back on their feet and Coleman gets another takedown. A tired Shogun grabs Coleman's arm and is looking for a umaplata. He looks to have it locked up, but he appears too tired to finish him off. The round ends with Rua just kind of sitting there with Coleman's arm locked up between his legs. Marcus Davis vs. Chris Lytle (170-pound limit)
First round: Nice! Marcus Davis vs. Chris Lytle is up first! Joe Rogan says he thinks this fight has all the ingredients to be the best fight ever. Hopefully it lives up to the hype. Here we go. Davis with a nice knee and kick. Lytle answers with an inside leg kick and a nice right hand. Lytle charges again with a wild right hand and Davis circles away to avoid it. Big body kick and flurry from Lytle to end the round. We'll score it 10-9 Lytle because of aggression but could easily go either way.
Second round: Lytle takes the center and there's a small exchange. Lytle is stalking as Davis is back pedaling. Lytle moves in and has Davis in a little bit of trouble. Davis literally runs out of there. Davis gathers himself and lands a kick then a nice left hook that floors Lytle. He bounces right back up, but Davis is there with another big kick followed up by two knees to the body. Lytle continues to stay aggressive though and keeps charging at Davis with swinging punches. Davis is starting to find a home for his counter punches now and it's looking like it's starting to take it's toll on Lylte. He continues to walk forward though and stay aggressive. He's working the leg kicks now and throws a wild uppercut that misses. High kick misses from Lytle. More exchanges in the center with both guys landing hard shots. Nice body kick from Davis and then a big left hand when Lytle charged. Big knee from Davis. Lytle keeps charging forward though. Davis bounces off the cage and gets back to the center of the cage. He's bleeding from his nose pretty bad. The round ends after a couple more exchanges. Davis dropped Lytle in that round and was productive with the counter punches, but Lytle again was far and away the aggressor. Again we give it to Lytle 10-9.
Third round: They hug to start the round. Lytle stalks and lands a nice right hand but gets drilled with a kick to the gut. Nice left hand now from Davis and a leg kick. Nice body kick and left hand combo now from Davis. Lytle stays on the attack and eats a big counter left hand from Davis. Lytle swings wide with a big right and eats a nasty left hand from Davis. Davis is out boxing Lytle. Lytle's face is starting to swell pretty bad. He throws a lazy kick and gets hit with an immediate follow up leg kick from Davis. Nice body kick from Davis and a big inside leg kick. Another kick and knee combo from Davis. Lytle is really looking lazy with his punches. Davis with another hard inside leg kick and a left hand. Lytle keeps walking forward and lands a big body shot with his right hand. With thirty seconds to go they both stand in the center and the crowd begs for a big finish. Davis lands another kick. Lylte gives one last charge and Davis exchanges with him for the last few seconds before the final bell rings. Definitely Marcus Davis' round.
Final result: Marcus Davis defeats Chris Lytle via split decision

Rousimar Palhares vs. Jeremy Horn (185-pound limit)
First round: Horn takes the center. He throws a few jabs out there. Palhares throws a big right hand, they clinch and hit the mat. Palhares takes to top position. He stands, jumps on Horn and then takes his back. He's land punches to the side of Horn's head. Horn finally turns around, but Palhares stays on him and takes side control. Palhares is working some nice ground and pound, but Horn works back to full guard. Palhares tries to posture up and works some more ground and pound. Horn pushes him onto his back and Palhares tries to grab a leg, then gets back to the top. Horn looks for a triangle, then gets back to his feet momentarily before Palhares slams him right back to the mat. Horn tries to escape, but Palhares grabs his back. He's standing and raining down punches. Horn recovers and turns out. They get tangled up for a moment and Palhares looks to take his leg again. Palhares keeps control and again has Horn's back and again he's landing big shots to a turtled up Horn as the bell rings. We score it for Palhares, possibly 10-8.
Second round: Leg kick from Horn but he heats a right hand. Palhares shoots, grabs a leg and picks Horn up and slams him hard to the mat. More ground and pound from Palhares and Horn again gives up his back. This is identical to the first round where Palhares is just landing big shots to the side of Horn's head while on his back. Horn now tries to stand, but Palhares stays on top. Horn now sweesp and takes half guard. Easily he moves right to full mount. He's looking for an arm triangle now. He looks like he might have it, but Palhares frees himself. Horn stays mounted though. Eventually Palhares pushes him off and gets to his feet. Horn goes right to working his jab and Palhares looks tired. Nice jab from Palhares now and he shoots. Horn sprawls and stays on his feet. He lands a nice high kick, then throws and misses another. Palhares takes advantage and grabs the kick and slams Horn to the ground again. From his back Horn looks for another triangle, but Palhares frees himself and starts working more ground and pound from half guard. The round ends there. Palhares scored more takedowns and controlled more of the round. Horn was competitive, but we'll score this round for Palhares as well.
Third round: Palhares misses a big right hand, but takes Horn's back and slams him to the mat. He's in Horn's half guard now looking to pass. Horn scrambles and gives up his back. North south position for Palhares and he stands but takes Horn right back down. Closed guard for Horn. Palhares isn't doing much in Horn's guard. He looks tired and Horn looks for a triangle. That gives Palhares an opportunity though and he takes Horn's back again. More strikes to the side of Horn's head now. Horn tries to stand again, but Palhares grabs both legs and takes him right back down. Elbows now from Palhares. Horn tries to stay active from the bottom with punches. The ref finally stands them up. Palhares helps Horn to his feet. Horn right back to his jab. Less than a minute remaining now. Big head kick from Horn. Horn then shoots and Palhares strikes and takes Horn down himself landing in his guard. The round ends from the position and that was probably another round for Palhares. Horn was a game opponent, but Palhares was just too strong.
Final result: Rousimar Palhares defeats Jeremy Horn via unanimous decision

I think he meant peak, rather than prime. Dan will win a lot more fights but not against the top 2 in both 185 and 205. I do love watching him though, I am pumped for this.

I’m getting sick of hearing all of this past his prime bull. People need to stop pretending they know whats up and wait for the fighter to start actually losing some bad fights before they call it like this. Who has Hughes lost to? GSP and Thiago Alves? The number one and number two guys of his division right now? Big Nog is reported to have a staph infection and with one loss to Mir is considered possibly at the end of his row. Wanderlei’s last losses come to Henderson, Liddell, and Rampage… are any of those guys considered non lethal contenders? Liddell has lost to the current champ Rashad, Ex champ Rampage and a terrible split to Jardine who I know could not repeat the performance. Not to mention Henderson who lost to Rampage and Silva? Seriously has anyone put any thought into these accusations of fighters being past their prime? Has anyone looked at the names who beat them?
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jan 2, 2009 12:18 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I agree to a certain degree but it’s not that Sliva, Hughes and Liddell lost it’s they all looked just a little bit slower and a little bit older. Liddell used to be able to take bombs on the chin now he can’t, Sliva used to always win in brawls now he loses them. Hughes even in defeat always found ways to at least get his opponent down, now he can’t. Yes they lost to top competition but they all looked just a little past their prime but that’s life…. do you realize Chuck hasn’t had a ko in over 2 years! And I’m big fans of these guys but it is what is. The example of Dan is perfect….. Dan lost to Rampage and Anderson but didn’t look old in the process he just lost and still looked good. That’s like saying Coleman just lost to Fedor but his not past his prime?
by Robert(1) on Jan 2, 2009 12:36 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I agree cogito. THe only one I would say is definitly done is Matt Hughes! Put a Fork in him!
All the other fighters we are talkinga bout can still win fights….I dont see Hughes winning anymore! He is the only 1 dimensional fighter on that list and now his big attribute, wrestling….Doesnt work against any of his opponents. without wrestling advantage Hughes is NOTHING! He needs to retire ASAP!
I am not ready to say Hendo is DONE, but I havent seen the champion version of Hendop since he has entered the UFC. Hanging in there for 25 minutes against Rampage was impressive but other than that….He hasnt been half the fighter he used to be.
Hendo HATES cutting weight! Hates it! and he often seems drained or under trained when he fights at 185 lbs. THis fight against Franklin should be a reAL GOOD TEST TO TRY AND GAGE JUST HOW MUCH hENDO HAS LEFT IN THE GASS TANK. He always said that hge fights better at 205 when he doesnt have to cut weight. I want to see how he performs against Franklin until I make up my mind.
If he can fight like he used to in Pride, then UFC fans are in for a real treat!

I think Hughes is in that position where he doesn’t really stand a chance anymore to reach the top so I agree in the UFC he is done. He could make a move to the WEC and probably hold some decent water over there but it kills me to watch him become a gate keeper in the UFC. I’d have to agree that they may look a little slower but honestly these are tough guys they are fighting against and they are only getting tougher. I understand at some point we need to be able to determine they are done but for now its anyones game. These guys are shaking up the division by beating each other (LHW) and its confusing the rankings. So far the top guys in the LHW scene appear to be Rashad, Machida, and Thiago.
I’m really looking forward to the Hendo-Franklin match and I really want Franklin to win this one but I think its more needed for Hendo to win. Another loss and he could look like he’s hilling too or he could bring on more down talk of PRIDE. I loved the PRIDE fights and I don’t want to see these guys keep falling and listening to Dana make excuses and cut them down.

Good post….I’m debating skipping this next UFC besides Hendo vs Rich(which I can’t wait for) nothing really jumps at me that is worth $49. Shogun vs Coleman is a complete joke, I think they’re scared that Shogun will be bust and want to give him a gimmie and then put him in with Chuck for at least one good ppv sell.
by Robert(1) on Jan 2, 2009 4:43 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Shogun is a beast, I mean look at the man his record speaks for itself. All of us here are worried that maybe his knee injuries might take him out of the fight game if he re injures it so yes the UFC give him a gimme fight. He lets him redeem a loss he had (one of his only 3) and potentially set up for a possible Forrest Rua 2 (avenging another loss of his). You know they market pretty well, so we watch these crappy fights to see how well Rua is doing and see if he is still in top shape and then we launch him on Forrest like some wildabeast. But all that aside isn’t this card the one with Penn vs GSP? You would buy Franklin Hendo but not Penn GSP?
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jan 2, 2009 5:34 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Penn vs GSP is not on this card, if it was it would be better than UFC 92.

Going with Ace, john? That’s who I’m hoping for. Heart says Ace (he’s my favorite fighter), but gut says Hendo (am a fan, and have much respect for him). I seriously don’t know who to say on this one. Hendo has been in some wars, but if you look at his fight with Silva, he gives up in the second round (almost like he was tired and resigned to the inevitable). Man, I just don’t know.
by chefdaddy on Jan 17, 2009 3:11 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Weird judging there. How is there a 5-round swing between what the judges saw (two rounds for Hendo vs. 3 rounds for Ace)? I didn’t think Henderson did a lot of damage outside of the headbutt and eye poke, but he controlled position. In the end, probably a fair result.

I just want to know how are you excited about Shogun vs Coleman? The only thing that might interest me is how Shogun moves around the cage? Hendo vs Rich is a great great fight but nothing else really.

All the Thiago Silva fans should pay close attention to the Antonio Mendes fight. He had Thiago dazed for a second. If Erick Schafer can go in there and get a KO then that will show us that Thiago is not as good as we (im a fan too) think he is.

i feels hes overrated he hasnt really impressed me, he was gettin owned by irvin before he took him down, he almost gassed against the drawl guy, houston he beat fair but we all know how bad his ground game is, and mendes rocked him. hes a wicked ground and pound fighter but has shiddy stand up. oh well see what happens the end of this month

I dont know who to pick in this one, I love them both. Personally I think the Hendo is a tougher guy than Rich and will probabaly pick him to win in a decision, but will have to see. I know Matt Hamill is just a punching bag but Rich did look good beating him, Hendo is just a warrior though. Its a tough call and should be a great fight these guys both bring it.
by Spyder on Jan 2, 2009 4:57 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I just think this card has good fights
Sure no titles but I just love seeing great fights cus all are matched up well aside shogun and cole
To tell truth I thought hamill would destroy ace with takedowns and vicious gnp, I was wrong, so if hamills wrestling couldn’t keep him down its interesting to see how dan does being much smaller than hamill
And again rich has been kod dan never
Hughes said one more fight and I think he can definately pull the heart to beat matt serra
Chuck is not getting freebies he’s still after top fighters just styles make fights
I wanna see chuck vs machida
Machida doesn’t have ko power in hands, but I think machida can beat anyone, chuck is very defensive, so I can’t calll it.

Ace Franklin 2nd Round TKO….Hendo is slow and isnt much of a counter striker…he’s always moving forward and ready to brawl and Rich has good head movement and footwork to get away from it.

Hendo isn’t past yet. He has a lot of tricks in the bag. Well in any case, here are the results:
Hendo
Rua
Belcher
Davis
Horn
Kampmann

This upcoming weekend is sure to be a weekend of excitement and cheer for UFC and MMA fans. UFC 93 in Dublin will be a fun fest of MMA cheer right after the holiday season, and with the card expected, should be a nice start to a jam packed 2009 MMA year.

Alright enough already. Every PPV you get on here and make your predictions and argue over who will win this and who will win that. Who gives a **** who you think will win? Howabout just watch the fights and enjoy them them and talk about them after. By the way, most of your predictions are all off anyway considering all the heavy talk on how Big Nog. was gonna roll over Mir and then roll over Brock. It looked to me like he couldnt even roll his fat butt out of the ring after getting knocked out. Have any of you ever even had a fight or even trained hard to know anything about this sport for your so called predictions. C’Mon now enough!!!

This thing here is called an O-P-E-N F-O-R-U-M. It’s where people come to share thoughts and ideas and discuss them. In the days leading up to a fight, much of the discussion centers around the fights and what people think will happen or want to see happen. I’ve never played football, but, surprisingly enough, I have my opinions on who will win tomorrow. Since this is a F-O-R-U-M for MMA I won’t share my NFL thoughts, but I and others will discuss the fights however we want. You can go start your own blog and then not let anybody pn until after the fights if you want.

by JV on Jan 17, 2009 5:07 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
yeah, I’m a bit disapointed myself, but let’s not forget this guy had 2 major knee surgeries and hasn’t fought in over a year. I still need to watch him twice more and if he doesn’t get back to the way he used to be, I’ll be convinced the old shogun is gone for good.
by caveira on Jan 17, 2009 5:31 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Are you kidding, Shogun is DONE? I thought the UFC was having video problems and the fight was in slow motion. That was the most pathetic fight I have ever seen. It looked like 2 80 year old men fighting at the old folks home. That is a perfect example why you shouldn’t use performance enhancing drugs. Coleman has all the tell tale signs of years of GH and steroid abuse. I’m beyond thinking Rua was just taking steriods, he must have been taking coke or speed because his heart is shot. They were both gassed after the first exchange. Both of them should retire, because they would get DESTROYED by ANY other LHW. They both obviously have damaged their hearts from drug abuse and no longer have any cardio whatsoever. Unfortunately that is the real Rua when he isn’t pumped full of drugs. He said himself he was 100%. It’s sad really.

Me either. Not to many fighters look good in there 1st fight back from a year and a half of being on the sideline. THe Ko was beatufil. it was a Dos Santos like uppercut.
Cardio is the easiest thing to improve on. I am still on the war wagon, plus Shogun just made me $300…so how can I possibly complain. You guys are Harsh! ACL injuries are no joke…In all pro sports they say an athlete isnt 100% for like 2 years. Shogun showed the skills. Beautifl leg kicks, nasty tai clinch….once he gets his cardio back, he will be the beast of Old! I knew Shogun wasnt going to be 100% back to his former self, how could anyone expect him to? But Iknew he would have enough for coleman and it was great to see. He was the closest UFC fighter that I can remember to almost ending a fight with an omo plata.
All in all, this ppv sucked!
WTF is up with Rampage vs. Jardine? THis is bullshit!
I am so sick of Henderson and his crap! I defend him from time to time, but the guy isnt even professional enough to go for 15 minutes. At this point, I dont even care if the UFC cuts him. I am sick of him!

lol, I was wondering what you would say about shogun John. You hug nuts too tightly! If that was BJ Penn in there, I’d be crusifying him…even though I love the guy! At one point in that fight, any of us could have finished Coleman (in the first). I gave the second round to coleman, and the third was a toss up! I rarely disagree with stoppages (the last one was Kimbo/Thompson, but that stop was a bit early! Yes Coleman was down, but he was going to grab a leg, and was 26 seconds from a victory or a draw. By the way John, I find it strange that you knew Shogun wouldn’t be 100%, but he said it’s the first time he was 100% in a long time. If I put on that pathetic of a performance, I would have said I re-tore my ACL last week!

Alright john, I’ll cut Shogun some slack and I’ll just wait and see! The only good thing about the Hendo win is that he makes more sense at 185 for Bisping!

by JV on Jan 17, 2009 6:18 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
JV is right. coleman hasn’t fought in 2 years and is 44 years old, so saying shogun hasn’t fought in a year isn’t much of an excuse for such a poor performance. i didn’t think coleman was gonna make it out of the 1rst, but he actually had chances to win it. shogun is gonna get creamed the 1rst time he faces another top 10 fighter. i thought lytle and franklin both won, but the fights were so damned close, i cant complain. since hendo is gonna coach tuf, lets see rich against shogun, it will be shoguns last fight in the ufc. i kinda felt bad for kang, he was definetly dominating until he got caught. i thought it was a pretty good afternoon of fights, but im glad i didn’t pay for it. thank you channelsurfing. :)
by b.w. on Jan 17, 2009 6:26 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I’m not even trying to be mean, in my opinion, saying Shogun looked PATHETIC is giving him a lot of credit! He couldn’t finish an old, drained has been who was out of the fight in the first, nevermind the fact that he got taken down at will in the second and was in jeopardy of losing the fight or squeaking out a decision! I say give him Jardine or Alexander, and either one KO’s him…this coming from the biggest Alexander hater!

JV. why be nice? they wont be nice to you if they’re right. ive been down that road before. anyway, people are talking shogun vs chuck in montreal. this will be a gift fight for chuck. i dont dislike shogun, he seems like an honorable guy, but he is so overated. also i think rampage is gonna kill jardine, i was surprised by that annoucement. i guess the winner of lyoto/thiago will get the title shot. i wonder if somebody got hurt, b/c i thought jardine wass going to fight cane and rampage was fighting rashad. oh well thats life in the ufc, cant wait for andrei/fedor and especially penn/gsp.

I would love for Chuck to get Shogun! I think Chuck would knock him the f*ck out! The problem with some of these guys b.w. is that they jump on hype wagons to easily! Shogun had alot of hype, and I just dont buy into it untill I see it!
by JV on Jan 17, 2009 7:26 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Did I miss something? Shogun showed his high level skills. He showed some flashes of awesome striking, but he gassed.
So what? Cardio is the easiest thing to improve on, especially for a 27 year old kid.
Not the Shogun of old yet, but I really believe that he can get back there. I say it all the time that Cardio and take down defense are the easiest things to improve on, and thats all shogun needs to work on.
Shogun has never been technical with his punches, but he masked it with tremendous cardio and super wanderlei-like aggression! I admitedly hang from Shogun’s nuts, but I also always keep it real. Shogun looked far from his championship form tonight, but it was encouraging to see him deal with today’s fight which had to be a tough situation for him. Unless he suffers a set back with his knee, I honestly believe that he will get back to the form in which very few can stop him!
I am very happy that Hendo won, I had money on him and I didnt want to see Franklin back at middleweigh…but If I have to be honest I think Rich won that fight. I am sick of Hendo always gassing!
I didnt like the event much, but then again the feed I got from Channelsurfing was really choppy so I missed parts of the fights. Luckily I won a little over a grand on these fights so I cant really complain. I was hitting parlays ALL DAY!!!! Happy I didnt pay for it!
by john on Jan 17, 2009 8:22 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Wanderlei like aggression is the same thing as drugs they used in Pride to get wild, just look at those fights.. It’s just a fact that most of the UFC guys are better trained athletes, and Quinton is one of the few guys from Pride that actually has good cardio
by RoB on Jan 17, 2009 10:48 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
john, Kevin is bang on, Rua was beyond PATHETIC. I don’t know what fight you were watching, but Colman looked like sh!t and Shogun looked even worse. Shogun said he was 100% and I gaurantee he is done. BJ had bad cardio, Rue has NO cardio at all. Tank Abbott had better cardio. I bet we don’t see Coleman fight again and if we do, ANYONE other than Rua will dispose of him in the first 2 minutes. Cardio isn’t easy to improve if you have damaged your heart from drugs, it’s IMPOSSIBLE.

What a joke. Franklin won the fight. Except for 2 takedowns, a headbutt, and a Ric Flair thumb to the eye, Hendo was on the run the whole fight.

What BS… 29-28 Franklin, no question. And yes the judge that saw 30-27 is a moron, bur Rich had that fight.
by Scuds on Jan 17, 2009 5:58 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Shogun is not good off his Japanese droids!!!
Rousimar Palhares is a beast. SO strong.
And Dan Henderson did win IMO 29-28 but it would’ve been so different in a 5 round fight. Shame for Rich though. With Anderson Silva about in 185 he’s got nowhere to go but stay at 205.

What ever happened to “Hollywood” Henderson? Oh how I miss it…

WORST CARD EVER ! And yea Franklin did win, they screwed him

Are you guys smoking who are saying Rich won? His damn corner told him to knock him out in the 3rd round!. I give the 1st 2 rounds to Dan and the 3rd was all Rich. His corner told him he needed to knock him out! The 2nd was probably the closest but clearly Dan won. His corner proves my point!
by Manny on Jan 17, 2009 6:01 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
FRANKLIN GOT ROBBED!!!!
was a close fight. Give Hendo the First and Rich the 2nd (very close) and 3rd.
Rich took some shots with a headbutt and eye poke.
Coleman needs to ride away into the sunset. He looked good the first 2 minutes of the fight, though. Shogun is a shell of his former self. Hopefully it’s just the surgeries and ring rust because he looked awefull.
I DO agree with Joe in that in PRIDE Chute Boxe had a mystique that got into people heads. not to mention training was a war. but it’s gone now.
FRANKLIN vs SHOGUN!!!!
by SoCalStunNa on Jan 17, 2009 6:14 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I agree with most of what you have said. well the second half. Franklin wasnt robbed. It was a close fight but I could only ever see it going to hendo. Franklin did more to try to finish the fight, but spent most of it on the mat, which most judges score towards the standing fighter. Plus hendo did control him on the ground most of the time. The 30-27 in favour of franklin was a joke
by Darren on Jan 17, 2009 6:17 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
29-28 hendo, franklin didnt dominate the third but he clearly won the last round. but how in the blue fuck did a judge score it 30-27 for franklin he got steamrolled in the first round was on his ass for majority of the second the third he won but still that was bs judging
by Jared on Jan 17, 2009 6:03 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Come on. People saying that fight was Franklins must have been watching a different fight. I scored it the same as mania.

Worthless event!
Worst in UFC history!
Every fight was GARBAGE!!

lytle davis was a great fight, and franklin hendo was as well. Shogun should have KO’d Coleman about 12 minutes before he did, but maybe now he’ll realize that cardio for 1 round isnt going to cut it. Would never pay for that card anyway, but it wasn’t that bad.
by --utaptout--..."The Prodigy's" 4th Biggest Hugger on Jan 17, 2009 10:20 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Coleman and Shogun both looked awful. Right now, I dont see a good fight for either of em. Neither are anywhere close to being a contender for the title.
I like both Hendo and Franklin, and hate seein either of em lose, but I thought Franklin got robbed.
And the poke in the eye rule needs to be changed. Its friggin retarded.

He’s no good in the UFC. ;)

Franklin was robbed! Why would Bisping worry about Henderson?
by Tony on Jan 17, 2009 6:18 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Because Bisping is an overrated chump, who serves no real purpose than to be a poster boy for Dana in England.

To everyone who flamed me for all the times I’ve said that Shogun may be overrated…..A big FU. Does anyone say “yeah, you were right anymore?” If so, feel free to do so now. Even before he gassed, was that top 5 LHW striking?
Next up, GSP will dominate Penn. But I doubt anyone will jump in to say “yeah you were right” on that either. They didn’t when I called Ken-Flo to dominate Huerta either. Even though I took some flaming.
Oh, and put me on the “Frankline got robbed list” He limited damage while on the bottom, stood up more than once, and dominated the stand up. The only argument for Hendo is that he won round 2.
by Punch You in the Ovaries on Jan 17, 2009 6:23 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Punch, I’ll say it to you (YOU WERE RIGHT) Ive never thought Shogun was top of the LHW food chain either! But some bloggers get mad when you say that! I agree on the GSP (domination) of BJ!!!!!!!! And the only reason Im not trippin on the Hendo win is cause he makes more sense at 185!
by JV on Jan 17, 2009 6:31 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
well u should have left the “anymore” in “does anyone say ‘yeah, you were right anymore?’” out of the quotation marks… so in your grammer, no, your not right. but as far as shogun, ya, you were right…. anymore

I’ll take it. I used to look over my typing, but people assured me it wasn’t necessary on an MMA blog. Anyway, thanks
And thanks JV

Get used it PYITO. I mean about getting ripped for daring to not kiss the ass of any former PRIDE fighter. There are a few people on here who think they are superior to everyone else for watching MMA before MMA was cool and that everything from PRIDE is better than everything from UFC. Personally, I thought Shogun looked awful, but I will reserve judgement on him until he fully recovers from his knee surgeries.

well punch, I I said Coleman would win, so you were right.
I called ken flo over Huerta.
If GSP wins, I’ll say good call, but it’s a 50/50 call, so no biggie!
by kevin on Jan 17, 2009 6:37 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Shogun is one of my favorite fighters, but if he cant come in shape, Id rather he stayed home. His gas was even worse in this fight than against Forrest. He looked pathetic against Coleman, and I hope Dana cuts him if he delivers another performance like that. This is also coming from one of those old school pride fans that alot of people on here hate on. (Fedor! Fedor! Fedor! Fedor!)
I don’t think you could call what Kenflo did to Huerta dominant. He won a very clear cut decision, and frustrated Roger, but did extremely little real damage. Kenny executed a picture perfect gameplan against Roger, but didn’t dominate him. If anything, I’d have to say Roger was a little bit overrated going into that one.
I’ve already put my name on the line for GSPENN2, saying that BJ will win. I don’t know if it will happen, but thats the kind of fan I am. Either way, if GSP DOES win, it’ll be by a very close decision. I don’t see either guy dominating the other. Its goingt to be a 5 round war, and I see BJ getting the win by decision, by using his better striking, his defense, and sub attempts off his back. BJ

I say you are right on all accounts, especially the part about GSP dominating Penn.

They should have let it go 5 rounds…. I knew 3 wouldnt be enough for Hendo-Franklin.
by Yoshi on Jan 17, 2009 6:32 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Agreed Yoshi, and who do you think that would have favored?
by Punch You in the Ovaries on Jan 17, 2009 6:39 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Franklin, no doubt! Hendo was gassed halfway through the 2nd.
by Scuds on Jan 18, 2009 8:24 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Nice bacne Alan, wouldnt doubt it if he tests positive for something.
Coleman vs Rua goes to a decision and it could go either way, man ShoGun looked bad.
Davis vs Lytle, I thought Lytle took the 1st and a good part of the 2nd but did look hurt through out the fight.
Franklin vs Hendo, Franklin was the aggressor and way more active in this fight, I picked Hendo to win but thought Rich was going to squeak out the decision…doh!!!
by Spyder on Jan 17, 2009 7:13 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
The worst of the 4 UFCs I have been too. Shogun looked really terrible. What the hell happened to him. Disgusted by his performance.
Oh yeah Overeem was there and he has signed.

by RobH86 on Jan 17, 2009 8:00 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t care what anyone says Franklin won the fight landed more shots and was more active, yeah Hendo did take him to the mat but he hardly controlled Franklin there as he was able to stand up, this was all about getting hendo to coach against Bisbeng in the next Ultimate Fighter,It wouldn’t make sense for franklin to fight bispeng and beat him…what would happen next Silva three? Ufc does a good job at setting their own agenda , Shogun looked like crap so did Coleman no roids! This whole card sucked
by Shef on Jan 17, 2009 9:04 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Henderson clearly won the first two rounds. You people who are saying Franklin was robbed should get his Nutz out of your mouth.
Also this was far from the worst UFC card ever I can think of several off the top of my head that were pretty shitty. People should remember UFC 89 it wasn’t that long ago. Now that event sucked!
by Tyler on Jan 17, 2009 10:37 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
This one sucks also did you actually pay for it
by UFC 93 hater on Jan 18, 2009 12:06 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
And you should get Hendo’s “nutz” out of your mouth. Remember that scoring is supposed to be based on aggression and Octagon control as well, and looking at that I would have gave Franklin the 2nd and the 3rd. Hendo was on his heels the last two rounds.
by Scuds on Jan 18, 2009 8:26 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Not to mention the only damage Rich had was from a headbutt and a finger in the eye. Im not saying Rich got robbed, because it was close fight. Im just saying I thought Rich eaked out the win by aggressiveness, strikes and Hendo could not keep him down either. I think Rich won the fight.
by Spyder on Jan 18, 2009 10:43 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
This UFC 93 was teh biggest waste of money if anyone actually paid for it. Hopefully BJP v GSP will make up for this pathetic one.
by UFC 93 hater on Jan 18, 2009 12:04 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Im not sure why people think it sucked, Kang (BJJ Black Belt gets choked out by a striker), Horn turns things around later in the fight to make it exciting, Davis & Lytle were both battered, Rich & Hendo got he distance. Im just not sure why folks come on here just to say it sucked. The only fight that was not cool was the Coleman Rua fight, Coleman was gassed 1/2 way through the first but man he just doesnt quit (i think anyone else would ahve finished him).
by the spyder on Jan 18, 2009 7:00 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Ill get the last word on this blog. You people who say Rich won is totally wrong. I said it again why Im right and Ill say it again. Mat Hume in his corner in the 3rd round said you need to bust him up and knock him out. What does that mean? He clearly lost the 2 rounds and needed a knockout going into the 3rd. If he was even in the fight Mat Hume would of said you need to win this round its a tie now. But NO! He said you need to bust him up and knock him out. Thats exactly what it means as Franklin was down 2 rounds. What you Rich nuthuggers have to say to that?
