Looked like a nicely timed left hook to me. Quinton already stated he was the most nervous he has ever been, but that doesnt mean he was just hoping to land something.

I’ll reply on myself—Quinton is a top 5 205lb guy for sure. When you’re that high up on the ladder, you didn’t get there by lucky punches and praying a lot.

Who The F does “THe pimple” think he is running his mouth about top 10 fighters? Is he Serious? What a Joke!
He is the biggest Rashad Hater EVER!!!! Cause Suga shad tagged him up when tey fought on TUF 2.
Lucky Punch? is he nuts!! This Loser is lucky enough to have a microphone put in his face, when he clearly has done anything worthy of being interviewed and 1st chance he gets at a microphone…He runs off at the MOuth!
What a KLOWN!

I think wandy was scared sh#$less…did you see how he fought, thats not wandy, scared.
by WIGGY on Dec 30, 2008 7:45 PM EST up reply actions
There has to be some level of nervousness and being scared when getting into the cage. It’s whether you can overcome it when it matters that really counts. IMO, Rampage was not throwing and praying. He and Wandy were in the middle of a pretty savage exchange, and Rampage knocked him the h#ll out. I find it amazing that Mike Whitehead should give an opinion on anything. That guy was THE most over rated fighter to appear on TUF. And that’s saying something.
by chefdaddy on Dec 30, 2008 10:21 PM EST up reply actions
rampage showed some skills. he was blocked all of Silva’s punches with his arms and landed a perfectly timed counterpunch in the middle of the exchange. you can see it the replay. he’s skillfully deflecting the punches and waits for the opening. he knew what he was throwing. this sounds like a guy that is trying to just make excuses because his boy lost.

yeah i agree with what he said about rashad and in some ways about brock too but that was some bullshit he said about rampage. rampage is obviously a more technical striker than wanderlei and he fought well.

Every fighter throws and prays. That is nothing new – but it does not mean QJ was lucky. That was a damn good punch. And every fighter is either scared or nervous when they enter the cage – if they say otherwise, they are just lying IMO.

you may be right. But I’m sure every fighter still feels those nerves before fights. Even the greatest and most popular bands still feel the jitters everytime they play a gig… You ain’t human if you’re devoid of such emotion.

is this not the same guy that choked in TUF against Rashad,so should he not shut the f#ck up about people being nervous and scared in the octagon,I pretty sure that Matt Hughes was cussing him out for looking like a punk.So I do not hold his opinion to high until he gets back in the octagon.

I understood bias from fighters who know other fighters when it comes to predictions..
But don’t discredit Jackson when he has better boxing then Silva, he did not play into Silvas brawling style, he moved around and timed a shot that landed..
Move on Whitehead, your a guy who blew your chance at fame in the Ufc, stop bashing other guys that are there

besides the quinton statement, i agree with everything he said, rashad and brock are both showboaters, the ufc is trying to be a monopoly, well put mike!
by brendan on Dec 30, 2008 8:19 PM EST up reply actions
I disagree on every thing he had to say.. if you want to have any fans you have to give it up and entertain ppl.. showboating is free for everybody to do and the boring dude’s that has no coolness, shouldn’t complain about it!
by RoB on Dec 30, 2008 9:16 PM EST up reply actions
Brock showboated once after the fight with Heath. Now he is an all around showboater? He was respectful to Randy Couture in their fight. I could see Brock maybe showboating one more time and that would be to Frank Mir if he beats him. Why? Because Frank is already running his mouth to Brock just like Heath and his boys did.
by RyanHobbs on Dec 30, 2008 10:40 PM EST up reply actions
he once said “**** fedor, couture is fighting brock lesnar” which pretty much makes him the biggest douchebag of mma in my book, disrespecting the best fighter in mma, and talking about himself in the third person = heavyweight loser of the world
by brendan on Dec 30, 2008 11:03 PM EST up reply actions
yeah this guy failed to mention that he and his boys were talking trash to Brock backstage and that Heath felt insulted to be fighting the dude. Well maybe he should have trained a bit more and talked a bit less trash.
also yeah brock fought 3 times. Randy got a title shot in his 4th fight, so whats the big deal? he makes it sound like brock was handed the title. he still had to beat Randy to get it. its not like just anyone could have come in and beat Randy in their 4th pro fight.
by kitsunex on Dec 30, 2008 11:23 PM EST up reply actions
brendan- Brock showing his frustration about hearing Fedors name thrown into every interview about him and Randy isn’t showboating. It is certainly disrespectful and the 3rd person talking thing is douchy, but that doesn’t make him a showboater. This is what was being debated.
by RyanHobbs on Dec 31, 2008 12:02 AM EST up reply actions
he is allowed to say what ever he wants…as we are allowed to complain that he’s making unfounded remarks and even worse, excuses on behalf of his team…even Wand said it wasn’t a lucky punch
by McArthur on Dec 30, 2008 7:48 PM EST up reply actions
I like the showboating. People that say Rashad shouldn’t showboat so much are like John Wooden saying people shouldn’t dunk a basketball backwards. “Purists” that say fighters shouldn’t showboat frustrate me. EVERY single sport has showboating and trash talking. If you hate Rashad for the way he acts in a fight, NEVER watch an NFL game because literally everyone talks trash all game long. Rashad is respectful to the fighters before and after the fights, what happens in the octagon is fair game. And good for the game.
by Diceman on Dec 31, 2008 12:02 AM EST up reply actions
guys like Matt Hughes are the one’s saying Rashad shouldn’t showboat, and it only makes Hughes look like even more of a d*ck than he already is.. showboating is fun and has nothing to do with respect or anything! and the one’s that are getting annoyed by it are clearly boring mofo’s that needs to chill out and understand that it’s just for fun..

Yeah sounds like Mike Whitehead is abit bitter about a few things, sure rashad does some showboating, but he can fight, maybe trying to copy Muhammid Ali, must knows that he gets to fighters being like that, if rampage fights rashad I think rampage will beat him, I also think rampage is talented enough to beat Forrest in a rematch, just like I think Liddell could beat Rampage, Forrest and Rashad, anything can happen, it wasn’t forrest’s or wanderlai night, couture camp sure seems to be struggling as of late, well them all come back strong, Rampage may have been nervous, I think any fighter would be nervous against wanderlai including Mike whitehead, he probably bitter cause rashad beat him when rashad wasn’t that great , imagine rashad fought him now , destroy him I am going to say Liddell is going to come back and kick some butt, I know he is you watch

OK Mike Whitehead… I guess Randy Couture shouldn’t have had his shot at the LHW title in his 4th fight either. Brock isn’t the man or athlete or collegiate wrestler that Randy was when he got his first title shot? When will the BS over Lesnar ever end? He came in and beat a hall of famer because Mir and Nog were already scheduled in TUF. Who else would have fought Randy for the title. And I would love to see Rampage or Rashad against Mike since he seems to want to run his mouth about fighters in the UFC when he’s not even there anymore.

yeah whitehead fuckin sucks. even southworth did alright against babalu. and ripping on jackson for knocking out his boy. wanderlei was the one throwing and waiting for it to land, jackson was using head movement and timed a perfect punch simple as that. and as for jacksons eyes closed if i saw a punch going square at my face my eyes would close to its natural.

If anything Wanderlei is the one throwing and praying when he comes in and just swings wide without any precision at all.. staying in the pocket with great defense and one left hook straight to the jaw is as far from throwing and praying as you can get

by jet99 on Dec 30, 2008 7:53 PM EST reply actions
Mike’s comments were fairly accurate.
Rashad’s actions in the ring kissing his glove, touching himself, etc was not classy and disrespectful. MMA doesn’t need idiot showboaters as the ambassadors for the sport.
The comment about Lesnar showboating and getting a title shot to soon were also accurate. All the other fighters in MMA have to fight for years before getting a shot……..Lesnar was groomed and it sets a bad precedence (which feeds into his dumb behavior).
The comment about Rampage I think he was way off on. The one thing Rampage does EXTREMELY well is cover his head where there are punches inbound; this is why Rampage doesn’t get knocked out now and why he is able to throw bombs from within the pocket. It’s not luck, it’s years of training to cover his head from getting hit and knocked out. Don’t be talk bad about good technique…….he did the same thing against Liddle. Cover up and then make em pay dearly.
by Jon Boy on Dec 30, 2008 8:01 PM EST reply actions
Not everyone has had to fight for years to get a shot at the title. Couture had his first shot and LHW title win in his 4th MMA fight, same as Lesnar. BJ Penn fought Jens Pulver in his 4th fight for the UFC LW title, same as Lesnar.
by MMArk on Dec 30, 2008 9:48 PM EST up reply actions
I’ve seen several people on here comparing Brock’s quick title shot to Randy’s. I don’t think this comparison is very valid though. There were a lot fewer fighters in the UFC when Randy started, so the line for the title was much shorter and being 3-0 in MMA meant much more than it does today.
Plus, Randy finished the #1 contender at the time in Belfort to earn his title shot (the keyword here is earn). I don’t think any Maniac would say that Herring was the #1 contender when Brock beat him. Of course Brock WON the title fairly by beating Randy, but he didn’t EARN his shot to fight Randy. This does discredit the title to a point, not because Brock isn’t talented or because he’s from the WWE but because he didn’t have to prove himself in MMA to get the title shot. It was given to him to turn a huge profit, which makes good business sense for the UFC but diminishes the prestige of holding the title.
To compare this to established sports, you will never see a team go to the Super Bowl or the World Series without proving themselves first. This is why winning these events is such a big deal, because you are the undisputed champion of your sport and you have beaten many contenders on your way. There are a number of fighters who might have been able to beat Randy if given the opportunity, and even though 2-1 is about the worst record for a UFC heavyweight that’s the record of the guy who got the title shot.

by RoB on Dec 30, 2008 11:15 PM EST up reply actions
I agree that hyping your own fights is a part of the business and an important one at that, but there is a point where there should be a line drawn and once that line is crossed, I consider it to be disrespectful. Disrespect is a good way to hype a fight. Tito Ortiz proved that. I would be sketchy to lable someone disrespectful by their actions when hyping a fight, but I felt that Mir was also disrespectful to Nog on the show and I didn’t see that as a way to hype the fight. Just who he was as a person.
by RyanHobbs on Dec 30, 2008 11:57 PM EST up reply actions
Randy Couture and BJ Penn both got title shots in their 4th MMA fights, so why is it different for Lesnar? Lesnar got the shot because Mir and Nog were already booked for TUF, and most of the other HW’s either were coming off a loss or weren’t marketable. And as Lesnar being disrespectful, he’s on the same level as Couture spanking Tito, Tito Running his mouth, BJ Penn running his mouth or any other MMA fighter hyping a ppv. So why is Lesnar the only one who is disrespectful?
by MMArk on Dec 31, 2008 12:45 AM EST up reply actions
MMArk- Randy spanked Tito because Tito ran his mouth up until that fight had happened. Much like how Heath and his both ran their mouths about Brock. Now Brock is labled a showboater and Randy is considered to be one of the most respectful fighters in the sport. I guess time is what is needed to fix a tainted reputation, eh?
by RyanHobbs on Dec 31, 2008 3:38 AM EST up reply actions
running your mouth and saying things like Tito does is nothing else but 100% entertainment and good for the sport.. same goes for Lesnar! there is a reason why ppl love Tito and it’s because he’s entertaning and tells it like it is! Tito is all respect and so are the other guys we’re talking about too… what Randy did was fun and what Brock did against Heath was fun too.. this from a guy who washed out of the show because he had no heart and wouldnt even put up a fight. what a cowardly sack of shit. you have to earn the right criticize and fighter like that. even wand straight up showed class for a guy he outright hates, and said it wasnt a lucky punch. that they both trained hard and ramp landed first. whitehead needs to give his head a shake and then punch himself right in the dick. disgraceful.

Ok I will agree that page has good boxing. That being said the guy still had his eyes closed when he threw the KO punch. Call it what you want. I’ve definetly seen him lay guys low with more technical (eyes open) bombs that that. He was noticeably nervous coming in and he got what his career and his confidence needed, an easy knockout.
What I’ve seen out of page since entering the UFC is a good fighter who is most certainly not unbeatable. Forrest showed that and before its all said and done others will too. I have never disputed the fact that page is a good fighter, hes just not Anderson Silva like some posters on here would have you believe.

who the hell is this guy? who the fu**cares about his opinion. he says he is waiting on affliction to give him a fight? sounds like a fill in fighter to me. Rampage and Rashad won because they came to war ready and prepared ! Thats the bottom line! why would MMA Mania feature comments from a whiny ass like him?

What Hughesus and Whitehead got against successful brothers?

Mike Whitehead should STFU. BJ Penn got a title shot after his third MMA fight too.

Rashad actions were fun to watch….. first part of the word showboating is show…. is what we all watch and gets people hyped. If those actions pissed forrest off then he should have done something then to get hit take gaurd and get beat like a rag doll…. In my opinoin forrest looked like he was happy he no longer had the belt.. less weight on his shoulders… Rashad would beat him again

I personally think that Rashad style is need to beat Machida’s game. we’ll going to see it anyway sometime in future, even though i want thiago beat machida, but i dont want to be bias, i just can see machida still has an edge over thiago

Definition of luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Rashad and Quinton both proved the definition. Another definition of luck is success as a result of chance i.e. somebody winning the lottery. These two guys put in the work and training and got the victories because of it.

This guy is a classless dirtbag. Lesnar HAS fought a true well-rounded heavyweight (Couture). And Jackson scared? Puh-lease! Whitehead is a jerk.

“That isn’t the same guy that comes at me in the gym.”
No shit! Why the hell would Wandy be scared to punch your fat ass in the gym. You are not even close to the fighter Wandy and Rampage are.

I’m not even reading Whitehead’s comments. He has NO place or reason to run ANY trash about any other fighter. When he was on TUF, Whitehead opened up the single largest can of quit I’ve ever personally witnessed. Sanchez against Koschek was close but still not nearly as bad as Whitehead freezin’ up in the octagon.

This guy is a joke, he’s pathetic. He looks fat and out of shape as well. As for his comments, they’re not worth even having a second thought about. F that guy and any of you guys that are coming on here and bitching. Peace

I have been a competitive athlete all my life. If there is something about another guy that you don’t like, you play or challenge that motherfucker and shut him up. Sideline bitches are always gonna have shit to say. Non-discript whitehead is no different than any other “I know a guy who can do that” kinda cat suffering from Bitchassness! I wonder what he would say if he bumped into a motherfuker like Kimbo at nightclub. It’s some different shit on the street. I have trained a lil jits, muay, and boxing and Ramp’s blocking is the way you train to do it in a real life situation. Long Live MMA! P.S. Get yourself an Iron Gym and A Perferct Pushup. Pussy-boys should always shut the fuck up!

half way through this interveiw I had to press pause, bro this dude has lost his mind. Number one he lost to rashad when rashad was just a wrestler, number two rampage brock and 90% of the ufc are ten times better than this guy. The sad thing is the only reason he got the interveiw was due to him saying something angry and negative. This guy is not serious he’s the white version of terrell owens but with no talent. oh well i off to watch real fighters on you tube
