Chuck Liddell next fight at UFC 96 likely; unlikely against Keith Jardine

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell is more than likely going to return to the Octagon at UFC 96 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, on March 7, as first reported here; however, a rematch against Keith Jardine does not appear to be in the works.

Liddell recently called for another crack at "The Dean of Mean," who upset him at UFC 76: "Knockout" in September 2007 via unanimous decision.

UFC President Dana White recently shot down that plan at the UFC 92 post-event press conference. He did confirm, however, that Liddell would more than likely headline the card or at least have a spot in the co-featured fight of the night.

But if not against Jardine, then who?

Cameras caught Liddell visibly distressed sitting ringside at "The Ultimate 2008" when Quinton "Rampage" Jackson throttled Wanderlei Silva with a vicious first round knockout. Perhaps because Liddell just witnessed two big money matches go down the tubes -- Jackson now seems poised for a title shot and Silva won't be ready in time for a March rematch after serving a mandatory medical suspension that expires in February.

White revealed that Mauricio "Shogun" Rua could be a possible opponent. The Brazilian -- who is among the top 205-pound fighters in the world -- is set to take on Mark Coleman at UFC 93: "Henderson vs Franklin" on January 17.

That could be a short turnaround, however. Rua is returning from a major knee injury and could need more than six weeks to recover.

Of course, the loser of the fight between Franklin and Henderson could also be possible because the winner will more than likely earn the position as coach opposite Michael Bisping on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). But, again, a lot will depend on how much damage either fighter suffers during the fight and whether or not he can return so soon.

Therefore, it appears that the promotion has adopted the "wait and see" approach when it comes to finding a suitable opponent for one of its biggest stars. Unfortunately, the window is small and the list of notable challengers is short.

Unless, of course, Brandon Vera, is ready to boogie.

The only fight for Chuck that makes sense to me is:

Chuck vs. Brandon Vera

by john on Dec 30, 2008 10:41 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

yeah, but Dana and chuck are boys, I’d hope Vera is super hungry and would kill chuck…wait, sign it now! I’ve never been a big fan of chuck…don’t hate him, just not a fan! I respect his accomplishments and like his one dimensional style (cause it works for him) but not a big fan!

by kevin on Dec 30, 2008 10:43 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

throw him up against houston alexander for a loser leaves the ufc fight – let them slug it out.
Liddell will always have a position in the ufc as a, like TJ DeSantas says it, “Dana will hired Liddell just to throw up the hang-loose sign at each UFC event.” I’m a Liddell fan but he and randy are old news.. Rashad Evans is the new and out with the OLD!

by mikeybear on Dec 30, 2008 12:02 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I didn’t know that hand gesture made by Chuck was a hang-loose sign. I thought it was a gesture made by 16 year old girls (and boys) meaning “Call me!!” Either way, he looks a fool doing it.

What about James Irvin? He hasnt fought since Anderson crushed him… the only other LHW I can think of that would be available is Houston Alexander, haha

Luis Cane a possibility?

by CL on Dec 30, 2008 12:28 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

cane would destroy him and deserves a better opponent than chuck

chuck has to work his way from the bottom just like every 1 else

another person who has to work his way up is vera

this fight has to happen

by ufcaddict on Dec 30, 2008 12:33 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

why not just book chuck vs. Forrest?

by john on Dec 30, 2008 12:58 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

i agree john.

i think that fight would make perfect sense for both..

and it would be a huge draw!

by stinky~fingers on Dec 30, 2008 1:04 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

but i feel forrest will do something silly like call out banha.

and then he will just end up getting his butt kicked..

or what about a forrest-vera fight??

that would be entertaining.

by stinky~fingers on Dec 30, 2008 1:05 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I wouldnt complain about any of those match ups Stink! all great idea’s!

I think Forrest is the 1 big name that Chucvk has the best shot of beating.

Forrest’s chin is a Fughaze! (Donnie Brasco)
Forrest has a good ground game but chuck TD defense is Legendary.

IMO, it would be a big ppv buy, and a very winnable fight for Chuck

Brandon Vera is fighting a no name, Mike Pratt. They can’t afford to have him lose.

by BNF on Dec 30, 2008 1:33 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yeah yeah~ i keep forgetting that.

a couple of weeks ago i heard he might have been fighting cane

and i just cant get that out of my mind.

u are right~ the ufc wants to keep vera above water till the philippines.

by stinky~fingers on Dec 30, 2008 1:48 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

All this cherry picking of opponents is making chuck look like Tito. I say Zuffa should put him up against one of their no name up and comers. All they guys they are considering are already big stars by themselves. If he wins then maybe he’s back otherwise one more star they can build. Also John – Any rumors about Tim Boetsch? Heard he got a new 4 fight deal but nothing since.

by NameNotRequired on Dec 30, 2008 3:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I havent heard anything about BOetsh. As a matter of fact, I was wondering the same thing about a week ago. If I hear anything, even a rumor I will let you know

by john on Dec 30, 2008 5:28 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

If Vera’s booked, Wand’s on medical suspension & Couture’s not interested, who will it be? I’m inclined to agree with NameNotRequired when he said that Chuck should fight a no-name. He doesn’t deserve to get Forrest and a fight with Cane is career suicide for CL. Where does he go from here?

by Machine on Dec 30, 2008 5:30 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

The UFC isn’t going to put their most famous fighter in the ring against a no name. Chuck is a huge draw, so any fight he has against a big name opponent is a mega fight. That means mega bucks for the UFC. Chuck’s career may not last much longer, so they will make the most that they can with him.

I still hope they match Chuck against Liddell. That fight makes the most sense (imo) at this time. Jardine can prove the win was not a fluke, or Chuck can avenge a loss.

by naturalshadow on Dec 31, 2008 12:09 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

typo= Chuck against Jardine, not Chuck against Liddell. haha

by naturalshadow on Dec 31, 2008 12:09 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

i think everyone will be surprised dont count liddell out he knows he has to beat his next fighter to stay in the sport

by mike on Feb 1, 2009 2:33 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t see how they will put that match together. Isn’t Vera already scheduled to fight a no name? Mania you did the story I think. Besides, Vera would lose and how can they keep him for the Philippines show after dropping 4 of his last 5?

by BNF on Dec 30, 2008 11:22 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

i told u all[3 weeks ago] that the iceman will NOT be fighting jardine.

look for a franklin/iceman match-up with a spider/jardine

co-main event..

i am hearing that the jardine/silva fight is still being discussed.

but dana might want another mw title fight instead of jardine.

~ thats what im hearing~ take it how u will.

by stinky~fingers on Dec 30, 2008 11:59 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Stink, you are saying Anderson/Jardine at 96? I am pretty sure Anderson is fighting Leites for the MW title at 97?

BNF is right, silva is already booked!
Stinky, ever eat at Angelina’s up in stockton? Maybe we can meet for dinner on wed, it’s a spot my wife and I enjoy in stockton…good veal and sauce!

stinky who has told u this?

silva is booked and franklin/hendo winner will be fighting bisping next

the loser will probably not be ready in time for 96

chuck will more than likely be fightin vera

by ufcaddict on Dec 30, 2008 12:36 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

bnf~ im not saying its 100%~ its just what im hearing..

i am also hearing that if jardine doesnt want andy? he will get luis cane instead..

agian~ just what im hearing bro~ nothing offical..

kevin~ i have been hearing that if andy doesnt go up to 205?

his next fight will be leites~ but u are wrong bro..

that fight is definitely not already booked[100% sure]

but like i said above^ yeah~ andy ?might? be defending his title..

angelina’a is a nice spot, i know of it.

but i wont be in stockton for about 2 weeks..

i was suppposed to head to sac-town today~ but didnt.

i will be in oakland for the rest of the week~

then out to sacramento[cousins] for a week and then to

stockton for 2 days to visit my nanna..

dinner sounds good~ but i got a better spot the angie’s.

I’m sure you do, I just stick to what I like when in stockton, not much out there. you’re in oakland today? we can grab dinner tonight or thurday or friday! I live down the street in fremont, there’s a great greek place with the best baklava! let me know. Horatio’s isn’t bad either!

by kevin on Dec 30, 2008 12:58 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

ufcaddict~ no need to worry about where i hear this.

but i will tell u~

- silva is NOT already booked! im not saying it wont happen.

but he is definitely not booked..

- if franklin loses? he will be offered to the iceman.

im sure we all knew that the winner will do the show with bisping.

thanks though~

i am hearing that luis cane could possibly fight vera.

but its not sounding good..

i tell u all~ 100% truth- andy-jardine is still being discussed.

believe it or not~

by stinky~fingers on Dec 30, 2008 1:02 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

kevin~ for real bro?? u live in fremont?? i didnt know that.

i own a house in oakland and spend most of my time here.

i could have met up with u yesterday..

by stinky~fingers on Dec 30, 2008 1:30 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Stink! I can back you UP! Silva vs. Leites is NOT yet BOOKED! some rumors say that its still being negotiated, some say they are just talking. It is the next most likely fight for the title, but FAR from a sure thing!

However, at the uFC 92 Press conference, Dana basically promised again that Okami will be getting a title shot in the next year against Anderson….so who knows what the hell is going on!

by john on Dec 30, 2008 1:31 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

thanks john~

i dont know why everyone thinks its 100% booked??

i still think we will see andy-jardine. which i know

for sure is~ at least being talked about..

luiz cane vs chuck lidell

by JoW on Dec 30, 2008 5:10 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I’d like to see Hammill vs Vera. I dont think I would like to see Liddell vs Vera. I think Chuck has two options if he wants to get back on the winning track. He needs to either move to a different weight class, or he needs to start using takedowns, kicks, etc, no matter who his next opponent is.

Not that I care, but Chuck has really been left out in the cold here. He has only so many fights left in him, and all the money matches are going to be fighting in the next few months…does anyone smell another tito/chuck matchup? Not only would Tito be 100%, the ppv buys would be huge. Chuck wins, Dana can fire tito and say “look, our declining legend beat a 100% tito ortiz.” Tito wins, he beats a living legend, rematches (and beats machida) and is right back in the mix! only in my dreams right!

by kevin on Dec 30, 2008 10:42 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Kev: didnt Tito say he would be out for a while? I am not sure if he would even be ready to fight in March!

THen again, I dont really care for Liddell anymore. The days of 1 dimensional fighters are OVER! U got to bring more top the table then 1 skill set to make me a fan! Cant teach an old dog new tricks. Chuck is what he is, and I think its silly to expect that to change, even if he spends a little time at AKA, u know what u r going to get when chuck steps in the cage. Dont expect and Flying arm bars out of him anytime soon!

by john on Dec 30, 2008 10:52 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

by randy murders on Dec 30, 2008 11:54 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I thought he couldn’t fight, and was training. He was waiting a long time to sign a deal because if affliction for example offers him 1 million dollars, UFC has the right (from his last contract_ to match any offer until june or july!

john~ im with u on that!

i used to be a huge chuck fan~ but like u said

‘the days of 1 dimentional fighters is over’….

it is just not as entertaining watching chuck do the same thing.

i am still a fan~ i just hope he fights more like he

did when he fought wand!!

that was the best iceman i have ever seen[he mixed everthing up]

but then he went right back to his old self against hashad.

chuck still has it..i just think he is thinking about

being done too much!

he needs to focus~ and fight like he did against wand

say word~

Chuck is training with ATT for his next fight, so hopefully we see a different Chuck!

by BNF on Dec 30, 2008 12:29 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Stink. GOod post! I also agree that the best CXhuck I have ever seen was against Wandy!

by john on Dec 30, 2008 1:33 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

BNF, does not Thiago Silva train out of ATT? Would that not create a potential problem if Chuck was to fight him sometime in the near future? I do think Chuck maybe to comfortable training at the pit, and a change might do wonders for his career at this point.

by derek on Dec 30, 2008 1:52 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Arent there 2 different ATT locations? I know the one is in Cocunut Creek Floriday, but If I remember correct there is another 1 (I could be wrong). All the Brazilians are in the Florida based one, chuck would probably stay on the west coast. Even if Chuck goes there he wont be fighting under the ATT Banner. He will probably Train there 2, 3 weeks tops! NO Big Deal, Thiago is a bad ass willing to fight anyone!

by john on Dec 30, 2008 3:19 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yes derek, Silva does train their. I don’t think it will create a problwm down the line though. Silva doesn’t even speak english so I don’t know how tight they can become. They are both professionals and I think they would fight if it was the right timing. Like you, I am just very happy to see Chuck taking the necessary steps to improve his all around game.

by BNF on Dec 30, 2008 3:33 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

There are a bunch of ATT camps in Florida. Coconut Creek is the most established, but Din Thomas has one in Port St. Lucie as well. There are also ATT schools in Vero Beach and Orlando. Those are just the ones I can name off the top of my head.

I got to meet Chuck, as well as Hack, Lindland, Horwich, and JZ Cavalcante at a seminar that was done at ATT in Coconut Creek about 3-4 weeks ago. I actually learned about it here on Mania.

Rashad.. and company all know it too.. his style of fighting and his age.. he is on the ladder days of his career. The UFC really started taking off.. when Chuck started fading.. the first time.. I ever.. evr saw any MMA/UFC on ESPN.. was right before PAge/Chuck2… and since then.. he is 2-3..and pushing 40yrs old.. granted he can KO about anyone with his looping right..and his counter punching.. but us.. and his opponents now all see it it coming.. Rashad in the 2nd round before the KO.. was tooling with him.. Chuck looked a atep behind the whole time.

I have always been and will always be a fan of Chuck Liddell, but this is true and USED to be what I like most about him…you always know what your getting with Chuck, a striker looking to knock you out. These days that doesnt fly though. You have to have good boxing, muy thai, wrestling and BJJ. Chuck has good skills in all those areas except technical boxing, its jut a shame he doesnt use them more. I wish he would have suprised Rashad and taken him down or tried something different instead of head hunting but oh well. Hopefully he can LEARN from his past mistakes with Rashad and Rampage and Jardine so he can get in there and win 2 or 3 more before retiring. He is definately onthe decline, but he more than capable of winning fights against any of those guys if he would plan and execute a proper gameplan.

Dana was asked about giving Page a title shot with his court case still pending. Dana said that he expects Rampage to be fine legally. His lawyers told Dana that nothing will happen to page. All u haters dying to see him go to jail…wRONG Cage! U can find him in the Octagon in 09 fighting for the title and winning that belt that was unjustly stolen from him by From Forrest “I can leg kick” Griffin. I do want to see Rampage beat his as slike he should have the 1st time, but Rampage vs. Rashad will be booked. its no secret that as well as the UFC has done, it still lacking in the African American audience department, generally speaking of course. It will be the 1st time in the history of major mma organizations that 2 black men fought for the title. You see 50 cent hanging around all the time now! UFC is trying to get more black viewers….Rashad vs. Rampage is the perfect opportunity, especially in the year of Obama!

by john on Dec 30, 2008 5:35 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

So it is not because Rampage gained a highlight reel knockout at Chucks expense and Chuck was hoping that Silva would do a Kieth Jardine on Rampage but instead Rampage did the Keith Jardine to Silva. You may not like Rampage, but I do not think he will have too many sleepless nights worrying about it.

i would like to see forrest fight~

chuck – vera – or banha cane..

by stinky~fingers on Dec 30, 2008 1:14 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

No way do I think he deserves a rematch. But generally after losing a title, you are still considered a top contender. I am a huge Chuck fan and was a Vera fan (I still have some hope left for him), but that fact is they have both been on a major decline, while Forrest is fresh off of having the title. It makes much more sense for Forrest to fight Cane and have Chuck fight Shogun, IMO. Vera is going to fight a no name (Mike Pratt), due to the fact they can’t afford to have him lose if they want him around for the Philippenes show.

IMO, out of all the Big Dawgz at 205….Chuck has the easies time against Forrest then anyone else

by john on Dec 30, 2008 1:35 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

john~ agreed! forrest presents alot of problems to most 205ers..

i think chuck could give him the hardest fight of any..

imo- chuck is definitely not past his prime~

he is still a killer, he just needs to mix it up more..

the iceman could be the champ right now if he didnt get

too comfortable at the top..

that said~ it dont even matter where

chuck-forrest-hashad and even rampage are at in ranks

cause this is shoguns year! trust that~

war~shogun!

~and i’ll say word to that statement!

by stinky~fingers on Dec 30, 2008 2:00 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

WAR SHOGUN is right my man! Wait till these UFC nuthuggers get a glimpse of his Tai Clinch! I like his clinch more than Anderson’s. THe way he kind of throws his Knees kind of like he is skipping. From the clinch, instead of throwing the knees Vertically, He brings them up, out and crashes them into your ribs Horizontally. Thats Beautiful Muy tai right there!

by john on Dec 30, 2008 3:25 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

hey and dont forget his abaility on the ground his submission are great and very hard to control his body on the ground a i think that a shogun with cardio its impossible to GnP or submit him

but they’re both Dana’s friends…lol (sarcasm)

I asked below if anyone asked about Forrest, sorry I am at work at didn’t read it all. But this is a great match up. I can’t see any reason why it wouldn’t happen. I think it makes sense for both fighters. Even though Chuck is on a losing streak, he is still a big name that Forrest could add to his resume. I bet you that is the fight they put toghether.

by Bluepit360 on Dec 30, 2008 1:05 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

chuck should have fought at ufc 95 then hed have the opportunity to have a big fight at ufc100.

First iv been on here since sat night, how amazing was it!!

My man Congo looking the part, only one in the man event i got wrong was Big Nog!!

This sport is just getting better and better, cant wait for the ICEMAN to get back in there just a pity its not in London!!!!

by mo on Dec 30, 2008 11:12 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

I am very happy Dana rejected the Jardine fight, it makes no sense at this point. He should be the co-main event agaisnt Shogun, Cane, Rich, Hendo. It has to be someone of that caliber. With only a few fights left he needs to sink or swim.

by BNF on Dec 30, 2008 11:31 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

I like that idea…loser of Franklin/Hendo v Chuck sounds great!!! Weird though…loser gets Chuck and the winner gets Bisping…

by McArthur on Dec 30, 2008 11:54 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Once again TUF screws everything up… Hendo wants to fight Anderson again at 185, but moves up to fight Rich at 205 (where he wants to stay) for a fight with Bisbing at 185 after TUF. Makes no sense. But Rich doesn’t want to do the show and it makes no sense. Hopefully Rich wins, fights Chuck and Wandi drops done to 185 to coach agaisn’t Bisbing and they fight at UFC 100.

by BNF on Dec 30, 2008 12:09 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Wandi would be great to see on TUF but are they not going for a UK v USA theme?

by MMAGreen on Dec 30, 2008 3:24 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Wandi trains here, lives here with his whole family and has tons of American fans (more than most). I would be fine with him representing USA. On a side note, that format is ridiclous anyways, Dana even said it himself. It could be thrown out very easily.

by BNF on Dec 30, 2008 3:37 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Why did Dana shoot down the Jardine fight?

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Dec 30, 2008 11:41 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

they’ve missed a golden chance to put together anderson silva vs. chuck because they don’t want liddell to lose again. it’ll probably never happen now.

by cmw1000 on Dec 30, 2008 11:57 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Chuck needs to fight another big name, I don’t think the UFC would settle for anything less. He isn’t what he used to be, but he still has the power to put anyone to sleep. Put Chuck in there with anyone and theres always gonna be the hype around it because Chucks fighting. The UFC could send a young guy in there to fight Chuck, giving him his 15 mins of fame (or less) and with a win a new star is born or Chuck fights another top dog, and somehow if he pulls out a win the quesetion again arises is Chuck back (nope).

by mmanutz on Dec 30, 2008 12:25 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Has anyone thought about Chuck and Forrest? I think that would be a good fight and make sense for both fighters.

by Bluepit360 on Dec 30, 2008 12:25 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Forrest broke his left hand Saturday night. Will not be cleared to fight by march 7.

Iceman vs. Shogun(if he wins) This makes the MOST sense. Why? Glad u asked
- Styles make fights. Chuck= counter-puncher. Shogun moves Fwd.
- Both overrated, or past their prime…?? Maybe. Prove it in the Octagon!
- Both are “Names” Easy sell.

or & (if Shogun loses)

Iceman vs. Vera/Cane/Irvin IMO – Vera actually is the safest opponent for Chuck, and I never thought I’d say that.
Cane is a dangerous opponent and would make a STATEMENT by beating Chuck, just like Rashad did. Sandman too.

Joe Silva…If you need a successor call Ground-Game!

by Ground-Game on Dec 30, 2008 1:50 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

whaaaaat?? the sandman???

i like ur post and agree with most of it~ but

you just need to take out a couple of words~ like

—irvin

—sandman

with those two names deleted from you comment?

i agree with your entire post.

Yeah man. Sandman brings it. No Shame in getting stopped by Spider Silva…I’d like to see him and Chuck get ’em up!

chuck VS Houston would be good crowd draw. either guy could win.

by jimmy on Dec 30, 2008 2:07 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

There is absolutley no upside in that fight for Chuck, he’s already skidding downhill, if he loses to a guy thats dropped 3 straight fights its over.

by O Damn he got caught on Dec 30, 2008 2:38 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I agree houston is one step up from getting the boot himself, if houston wins, chuck would be in bad shape.

by BabyEddie on Dec 30, 2008 3:22 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Even though chuck got put to sleep in his last fight, he did lose to the current LHW champ, so he can’t be too far down the ranks.

Chuck though he was fighting the same Rashad that won a split decision over a guy who should have been fighting at 185. Rashad has improved so much over the last year that if Liddell would have known that he may have shown Rashad a lot more respect and fought him the way he did Wand.

If Chuck can learn from his mistakes and mix up his game, then I think he is capable of making it back to the top.

I think Chuck should fight Shogun and then with a win, fight Forrest next. Anyone agree?

by Nate Dogg77 on Dec 30, 2008 3:03 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

he will not beat shogun
2009 its the year of shogun!!!

by JoW on Dec 30, 2008 4:58 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Chuck vs Shogun is great

Shogun beats up chuck and coleman, he will be ready for title shot! COOL!

Vera sucks!

by noname on Dec 30, 2008 3:03 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Really I think chuck is on the lower rung of would be contenders so I dont think a fight with a strong contender is an option. I think a good matchup for both parties would be matt hammil, hes a fairly popular fighter, good showing at 92, and would be a challenge for Liddell, Hammil needs a big win to bring him out of gatekeeper territory and Liddel needs an oppurtunity to show hes improving his all around game without trying them out on someone who will whip his ass immediately for any mistakes

by BabyEddie on Dec 30, 2008 3:21 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

what about coleman, dont be surprised if he upsets shogun

i think griffen could do well against chuck. kicks were a major issue in the jardine fight and they are something forrest does as well as anybody. all forrest needs to do is keep his left shoulder up the block chucks big right hand and out box/point him. i even see forrest chopping down chuck at the knees like he almost did to rampage and you could see rashad was getting a little sore in the leg too and they did more to defend them then chuck did against jardine.

Hammil

by DBG on Dec 30, 2008 7:19 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Hammill takes too many shots to stand in there with Chuck. He has little to no head movement and depends on his shear brut strength to weather storms. I think Chuck hurts Hammill. BAD! Plus how could he get Chuck down? Hammill has lost his intensity or something. I am a big fan but he is slow and wants to box too much.

by Brian "NO MMA KNOWLEDGE" on Dec 30, 2008 9:26 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I agree, Hammil has this Rocky Balboa boxing style of taking 5 shots to the head and keeps moving forward to land a couple body shots. I also like Hammil but as proven by Rich Franklin, Hammil would get worked by skilled fighters.
