Dana is a chump…good business man…but a chump
by Mark Soror on Dec 29, 2008 1:40 AM EST reply actions
Alright men, sorry if this gets lengthy, but I’ve been away for a few days! First and foremost, I hope everyone had a great christmas. This weekend in san diego was by far the best vacation my family and I have ever had. The san diego zoo was amazing and legoland blows away disney, great america and bush gardens! Now onto 92:
I will NEVER watch an event at a bar/grill again. This has always been a fear of mine, and all my fears were confirmed. I’m a quiet fan, I’ve probably said “oooooooh” twice this year (chuck getting JKO’d by Rashad is the one time that sticks out). There was a guy at this place (henessey’s) that screamed “oooooooh, ooooooooh” every time a punch was thrown! That alone was enough to spoil my night!
This event was great! I told you guys to watch out for MIR, and John, Nog looked bad, but Mir did look great! I’m glad no one is saying it was an early stoppage, because it wasn’t. I think Mir/Lesner will be a great fight.
It was funny watching Forrest/Rashad, after the 2nd round I looked at my wife and said “Forrest is up 2 rounds, Rashad is going to take him down and pound him out in the 3rd.” He sure did!
Rampage looked good, Wand looked timid. The 3 punches after Wand was out were uncalled for. 1 I could understand (adrenaline), 2 maybe, but he hit him 3 times with the ref pulling him off. Nothing will happen because he’s not as expendable as babalu. Either way he looked great and I’m glad to see it.
How is CB or Congo on the main card? They both suck!
My wife was upset, no ground game, and it’s true, this was more like a K-1 event! She’s a BJJ purist and really didn’t understand why it took Rashad so long to time a kick and take Forrest out.
Finally, I owe stinky 100 bucks. email me stink, I’ll drop it in the mail today!

At 5:45 – 6:10 everyone sitting with Dana was already saying stop the fight already..Kongo was ground and POUNDING HIM!!!!
Great night, man i wished i was just sitting in the locker room to meet the fighters. i could only wish.

What a sad, sad event….. for me at least.
On the bright side, at least Rampage is back to his light-hearted self. A tremendous load of his shoulders. I still wish that Wanderlei smacked him up though.
by Jono on Dec 29, 2008 1:52 AM EST reply actions
I wanted Rampage to win but I just wish the fight would have lasted longer and had been more competitive for Wanderlies sake.
by RyanHobbs on Dec 29, 2008 5:16 AM EST up reply actions
Great footage, interesting to see the other side of the fence. I loved the look on his and Randy’s face when Wanderlei got knocked out. I was p**sed that Forrest lost, but really happy Mir won.
by DownUnder on Dec 29, 2008 2:14 AM EST reply actions
According to BloodyElbow if Wanderlei won, they would have made Chuck/Wand 2! And thats why Chuck was upset about the loss! Me, I think maybe they should do Chuck/Vera!!! They are both coming off of losses.
by JV on Dec 29, 2008 4:37 AM EST up reply actions
My opinion is purely based on all the questions leading up to this event … Forrest and Wanderlei were asked were asked multiple times if they would fight each other. Not to mention they are probably the two most popular names in the division at the moment.

Did you guys see Brock and his wife staring at Dana in that freeze frame up there…why isn’t he watching the fight like everybody else??! LOL
by Ca$z on Dec 29, 2008 12:20 PM EST up reply actions
hahahahaha. maybe there was a projector that way? Either way, it looks pretty funny.
by RyanHobbs on Dec 30, 2008 3:24 AM EST up reply actions
Who was the guy looking in the camera slapping Dana on the chest saying this guys the man he cares about his fighters. He should have just got on his knees and unzipped Dana’s fly then serviced him.
by Robert on Dec 29, 2008 2:20 AM EST reply actions
i think hes the guy who paid 40k for the support the troops thing..
i woulda thought a billionaire would have that much fun with a $1.99 pen you pickup at the gas station counter.. he acts like a 10yr old with that thing kinda funny but still
by randy murders on Dec 29, 2008 2:50 AM EST up reply actions
Thats what makes Dana so great though! Would you rather he walk around acting like he has a stick up his @ss?
by JV on Dec 29, 2008 4:31 AM EST up reply actions
JV Dana is Great? Why because he’s fuckin Dana from fuckin Connecticut and fuckin doesn’t know fuckin shit about fuckin Connecticut!
by Robert on Dec 29, 2008 1:18 PM EST up reply actions
I agree with you JV. Dana is just being real, that’s what makes his blogs interesting because hes not walking around acting stuck up.
by Pierre on Dec 29, 2008 7:49 PM EST up reply actions
I think he is the guy that donated $40k to the troops thing for the ultimate UFC experience.
by Calgary Real Estate on Dec 29, 2008 2:51 AM EST up reply actions
For what he gave to the troops he could atleast get some respect.
by JonnyBoy on Dec 29, 2008 6:45 AM EST up reply actions
Ditto. Some of these haters open their mouth too quick. When was the last time you keyboard warriors ever put on an event to raise thousands for the troops, huh?
by Pat on Dec 29, 2008 9:18 AM EST up reply actions
That was the guy who bid the highest($40,000) amount of cash, in that contest..He got to hang out with Dana and Forrest all night for donating to the Fight For The Troops event..

ROFL who is the camera man this guys a fool! Love these little videos pretty cool, Rashads girl is o soo good least body i couldnt see that face to much and thats that shes a couple months at least ^^
by Khaos_Warrior on Dec 29, 2008 3:48 AM EST reply actions
Thats all I kept thinking about too. She annoys me almost as much as Rashad does. They are perfect for eachother.
by Dayvet on Dec 29, 2008 8:57 AM EST up reply actions
Lester you’re so right.
She wants to be in the light… and see her clapping like some bloated walrus is pain, swollen brain aching pain that is.
Some of the UFC guys have real stunning babes, in Rashads case I hope he wears his shades day and night and that he’s squinting very tight.
by JonnyBoy on Dec 29, 2008 9:06 AM EST up reply actions
Good footage…It’s nice to see what’s goes on behind the scenes.
by skelow on Dec 29, 2008 4:04 AM EST reply actions
There’s one person I’m suprised I havent seen in any of the blogs the last few events… Mark Coleman. I figured we would see him around a bit before his comeback fight but who knows.
by midwestbred on Dec 29, 2008 4:13 AM EST reply actions
I have a feeling that he will pull out of the Shogun fight. Just my gut instinct!
by john on Dec 29, 2008 6:57 PM EST up reply actions
Interesting how that guy next to Dana was yelling “Stop the fight” during the Kongo fight. I was yelling the same thing. It seemed like Dana was upset at Forrest being brutalized by Rashad.
by RyanHobbs on Dec 29, 2008 5:12 AM EST reply actions
Dana was probably trying to figure out how to sell Rashad! I dont think Rashad has many fans. Maybe they can turn Rashad into the guy that people buy the PPV, and hope to see him lose!
by JV on Dec 29, 2008 5:23 AM EST up reply actions
hahahaha quite possible. I think they could approach it from several angles. Rashad is an undefeated champion. Nobody has ever seen him get stopped or taste defeat. Also, he beat the 2 TUF winners that were in his division. Which makes him The ULTIMATE fighter in a sense.
by RyanHobbs on Dec 29, 2008 5:57 AM EST up reply actions
Technically since that was his first five round fight, Dana could spin it like this:
“No one’s been able to make it out of round 3 with this guy, he’s a monster, I’m tellin you, Rashad is for real.”
I can hear it already… If Evans beats Rampage (and at this point, I think he’s got a pretty damn good shot) Fertita/White are gonna be cryin like school girls.
by O Damn he got caught on Dec 29, 2008 12:20 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah Dana seemed pretty mad that Rashad won. I think it’s unprofessional of him to act like that. He shouldn’t be showing that he is rooting for one fightter over another.
by ProKev on Dec 29, 2008 5:52 AM EST up reply actions
I think he was upset because the ref allowed too many unconscious blows to Forrest.
by marshal on Dec 29, 2008 1:35 PM EST up reply actions
You might be right. The Kongo fight should have been stopped much earlier. I felt bad for Mustafa.
by ProKev on Dec 29, 2008 3:51 PM EST up reply actions
No one escapes The Pen!! Not even Rampage and Iceman! LMAO
by Syd[a.k.a. "The Negation"] on Dec 29, 2008 6:01 AM EST reply actions
they were getting upset because the ref (mazzagati), didnt stop the fight until after he should have.
dana’s whole thing is trying to sell the sport to the masses, something he cant do when there are late ref stoppages.
this happened on both the congo fight and i think to a degree on the main event fight.
lorenzo did look a little upset forrest lost though.

I can’t get over the Rampage ko….even though I called it that’s the kind of ko that spells retirement…
love these blogs

Good event, lots of KO’s/TKO’s but damn, I didn’t call one fight that night; I had Forrest, Wandi and Nog winning; ALL WRONG. WOW. Dissapointed is an understatement… I’m a Rampage fan but definatley a bigger fan of Wanderlei, I wish he coulda got that win. They were both fighting tentative; kinda had the feeling it was gonna end early. The fights were good, but for some reason, watching these legends like Nog and Wandi that I’ve looked up to for so long lose in ko/tko fashion like that just left a bitter taste in my mouth. I enjoyed the fights, enjoyed the event, but damn I can’t remember another UFC that I was THIS bummed out after watching.
by O Damn he got caught on Dec 29, 2008 11:24 AM EST reply actions
right there with you man. awesome night of action (even though there was no ground game) although i wouldve liked the wandi/page fight to go on a bit longer. still though.. all 3 guys i was rooting for lost.. and it sucks. (although my money was on page)
by josh on Dec 29, 2008 11:31 AM EST up reply actions
ODam: I respect u a lot on this site and thats why I respond to your posts, but WTF? Whats the big deal about Wandy losing to Rampage. He lost to a younger and HIgher ranked fighter. nO shame in that! The Nog fight was pathetic but wandy looked good. No shame in being KNocked out by Rampage.
I do strongly believe that Wandy should NOW cut down to Middleweight. No sense in him fighting these MONSTERS who are cutting massive amounts of weight. He spent his career picking on Bigger guys even HW’s….Time to fight in your REAL division. He should be a middleweight. He is Bisping size, see how great the change helped Bisping? Time for wanderlei to move down, and the UFC needs to book the rubber match between Wanderlei vs. Henderson. THat Saga needs closure!
Wandy has a fabulous Chin and at middleweight there arent to many guys who I believe could drop Wanderlei like Rampage did.
Nog fight was pathetic, but NO Shame in how Wanderlei lost!~
by john on Dec 29, 2008 7:02 PM EST up reply actions
I said the same thing after the KO, and my wife said it’s no use cause anderson will kill him!
by kevin on Dec 29, 2008 7:12 PM EST up reply actions
Yea I hear ya john, he should consider MW, I think a fight with Leben at MW to start off would be a good one as soon as he’s off suspension. I’m a Page fan as well, so it really doesn’t hurt to have Rampage back and in good spirits/form; but I just wanted Wanderlei to go on one more tear here in America before he’s done. There’s that era in pride where he dominated and a lot of people over here really don’t know just how viscious/entertaining he is. I just didn’t wanna see him go out like that, maybe a decision loss or a tko/ko in late 2nd rd or 3rd rd after a war but a first rd KO like that in the big show; that just sucks. Dana better never cut Wandi.
by O Damn he got caught on Dec 30, 2008 9:59 AM EST up reply actions
I called every winner except the damn nog fight, i cant believe he lost that way, oh well legends do die i guess. but i thought it was funny the way rashad was describing forest smiling and how he didnt no if he was hurt or fakin, made me laugh

a reality that will be fun?
-
well he got one very fun reality: knocking out Wanderlei (who looked like a sleeping infant), getting the cash both the one that everyone gets + the one for the victory + KO of the night.
He’ll have the belt soon (also a relity).
