Sunglasses, indoors, at night. lol, guys where I live have seemed to take to this bit of non-hetero fashion. I don’t get it, it’s a little too CB Dollaway for me.

AJ, is it just me or should there be more title fights in the lhw division. it is so stacked and called the most challenging but we have to wait six months between matches. or 10 months the time before. dana really needs to get the ball rolling if this is the most hotly contested division that he says it is. we have only had two title fights in around 15 months. the ufc has to do better than this.

by Buttcrack Obama bin Laden on Dec 28, 2008 4:00 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

That is mostly due to TUF that it took so long for Forrest/Rampage to fight. The Forrest/Rashad fight was only just under 4 months after Rashad/Chuck.

His eyes were swollen after the fight, not trying to be cool. Most fighters do that, esp boxers…

The only people I see beating Rashad stylistically, since he is undefeated is, either someone with better standup(Page), someone more patient than he is(Machida), or someone that is stronger and can bully him around(Hammill, yea I said it, although it would never happen cause He can’t climb the ladder that high up.)

Did anyone else get reminded of Arvlowski when they saw Rashads foot work.

They both wear ankle wraps?

All bow down before King Rasahad…I have been a HUGE Rashad supporter and fan since TUF 2. I’m very happy to see him getting the credit he deserves. Who would have thought we’d end the year with an undefeated champ.

by Buster Bluth on Dec 28, 2008 3:18 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

i could do without all the crotch grabbing. very disrespectful. i was hoping he would get knocked out after that. lost me as a fan.

Bisping has gave Evans’s toughest fight to date!

Have their been any other UFC belt holders with undefeated records?

Nevermind Tim Silvia, etc.

The fight went down exactly as I predicted. Rashad Evans Rules!

by GodDamnMike on Dec 28, 2008 4:54 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Rashad is a great fighter, but honestly he isn’t the caliber to be champ. He is cocky and distrispectful. I’m curious to see how he fights after his first loss. Which is coming soon. Look for the return of Shogun.

by Bluepit on Dec 28, 2008 5:03 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

for some reason i dont see the belt staying on rashad long, especially with page.machida etc in the division, that division is just crazy! belt holer with undefeated record, – gracie maybe, only one i can think of!

by Ryosuke on Dec 28, 2008 5:16 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I say Rashad is the fighter of the year

- Rashad Knocked out one of the biggest names in MMA (liddell) in brutal fashion

- Rashad knocked out Forrest Griffin en route to becoming the new LHW champion

- He’s done all this while still remaining undefeated

- In his last 5 fights, only 1 has gone to a decision and 1 draw, the other three are highlight
  reel finishes.

- Those that do not like Rashad labeled him as boring, now that he’s finishing fights, he’s being labeled as cocky or a showboater. Regardless of how you feel about his behavior, you can’t deny his accomplishments and his evolving skills.

- I know some folks are gonna start talking about the next fighter who’s gonna sub him, or ko him, just like all his previous opponnents were supposed to do, but let’s all be fair and give credit where credit is due.

- Rashad Evans should be the 2008 fighter of the year

Co-sign. and Machida don’t want none…

by Ground-Game on Dec 28, 2008 6:00 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Eddie: I can co-sign your post as well. I’ve been a Rashad supporter since TUF 2. I’m a fan for sure but I’m also a realist and I’m concerned about how he matches up with certain 205’ers. He has all the tools to hold on to the belt but he’s got a severely complicated road ahead of him. He has no choice but to continually evolve. Thankfully, as good as he already is there’s still room for improvement. In other words, some fighters are already at their peak when they fight for the belt but in Shads case he’s still growing and will only get better as long as he’s focused.

Now that Rashad is strategic about his take down attempts, his gas tank seems top notch.

by marshal on Dec 28, 2008 7:39 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

i rooted for forrest to win but bet on rashad. i didnt like his crotch grabbing but that guy is incredibly quick.

i really want to see him face rampage next.

machida has not earned a title shot yet. he should first have to beat silva then forrest or jardine.

by COR on Dec 28, 2008 8:19 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I think Rashad’s status as a fighter is hugely overblown.

He’s got several extremely close calls on his record – in fact, I think he should have lost vs. Ortiz and Bisping, but that’s judges for you. His two other split decisions were 50/50 affairs, could have gone either way. That all four of these went his way is… well, beyond improbable.

Also – were his victories over Liddell and Griffin all that impressive? Sure, it was smart of him to taunt Liddell into doing something stupid, but that doesn’t change the fact he almost literally spent six and a half minutes of that fight running. Whereas in the Griffin fight, he spent 10+ minutes getting his ass kicked. I enjoy a dramatic turning point as much as the next guy, but at best, that only proves that the guy who pulls it off is a competent opportunist. The true greats dictate how and where the fight takes place.

You might as well start claiming that Keith Jardine is the next great champion – he beat Liddell, Griffin, and Vera, after all… unfortunately, just as in Rashad’s case, it’d be nonsense. Rashad just hasn’t run into his Houston Alexander.

by MattNY on Dec 28, 2008 8:30 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Get off Rashad’s nuts. We already now he’s the best. Quit showboating it.

by marshal on Dec 28, 2008 9:22 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I for one couldn’t agree more. Very well put.

On another note does anyone find Evans’ newfound Apollo Creed like behavior forced. He wins a couple fights and now he is a trash talker? Whatever, I find the more they talk the more satisfying it is when someone shuts them up.

That day will come sooner than later for Evans.

And where did all these Evans nut huggers come from?
I’ve seen one guy claim him as his favorite on here.
Typical bandwagon shite.

by sooper822 on Dec 28, 2008 9:31 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Sooper822: Shad’s personality’s been colorful since TUF 2. Since you aren’t a fan it’s understandable that you weren’t checkin for the guy and therefore probably overlooked quite a few things about him. Ask around and see if any of your MMA buddies recall his cage antics from the show and his words with Matt Hughes over it. So to call his behavior “new found” is inaccurate unless you’re pointing out that its “new” to you.

It’s funny how everyone is so much on Forrest’s sack that they can’t give credit to the undefeated fighter that TKO’d him. Forrest was gracious in defeat and Rashad returned the respect so why can’t the rest of you?

by Machine on Dec 29, 2008 5:40 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

houston alexander!!!! ha that guys a joke now, he was never for real. i am a big rashad fan but i still dont see him holding the belt for to long. But i think he will beat machida badly, and alexander will never come close to a title shot b/c hes a joke

by ufcfanatic23 on Dec 29, 2008 3:48 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

The point wasn’t that Houston Alexander is great (he isn’t), it’s that everyone’s luck runs out eventually.

Rashad is overdue for it.

by MattNY on Dec 29, 2008 9:24 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Rashad just keeps getting better, its not like he keeps getting lucky, he destroys people, its not luck dude wake up.

by Spyder on Dec 29, 2008 11:16 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Great job Rashad! I love all fighters who credit the master Bruce Lee. Sad that greedy Dana didn’t give him his extra $60K for submission of the night. Watch the replay he tapped repeatedly. He should have got a double bonus.

by MrFyer on Dec 28, 2008 9:28 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

rashad will be lucky if he successfuly defends his belt twice. machida would out point him to a easy decision and silva might overwhelm him. i think shogun could beat him anywhere and rampage has crisper boxing and would be the stronger of the two grapplers. it’s wierd how he fought at hwt when he’s so small at lhw. if rashad quit doing his squat thrusts for a training camp he could make 185 no prob.

by jonsey on Dec 28, 2008 11:26 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Thats was the first time I have ever not picked Rashad to win a fight in my fantasy league and will be the last. Rashad is a king and I think he will defend the title for a long time. He is a freaky dude in there, while I watched the fight with my wife I kept on saying “Forrest cant do anything to him” “watch he’s going to knock Forrest out”. People need to realize that Rashad is a freak, I like what Forrest said about him before the fight “He doesnt just knock guys out he knocks them out so they dont get up right way knocked out” I would put life on Rashad against Machida, he will suffer his first loss against Evans. Rashad is to fast and to strong plus he has a serious ground game as well, he is so good he doesnt get to showcase his ground skills. He gets no respect and I dont understand that, he doesnt just win fights he ends them viciously and he just does it to however is infront of him. I like his win against Brad Imes in the finals of TUF, I know Imes is a bum but he is one of the biggest ones in the UFC and Rashad beat him like he stole something. I dont know what he has to do to get people to realize he is for real. He has never lost, no one can touch him. Rashad will be champ for a while.
