UFC Quick Quote: Dana White welcomes Brock Lesnar vs Fedor Emelianenko

fedor affliction press conference

"God, I hope so. That's not up to me. I can only try so much. There's only so much I can do."

-- UFC President Dana White -- who recently participated in a great live chat over at MMA Fanhouse -- reveals that he is still interested in former Pride FC demigod and current WAMMA Heavyweight Champion, Fedor Emelianenko. White has often referred to him as a "farce," yet has attempted multiple times to bring him into the UFC fray. The "crazy" Russian handlers who manage him, however, have reportedly demanded too much, including the freedom to participate in the World Combat Sambo championships. Emelianenko is set to defend his title against Andrei Arlovski at Affliction: "Day of Reckoning" on January 24 and Lesnar will compete sometime in early 2009 against the winner of tonight's bout between Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira and Frank Mir. After Lesnar defeated Couture to win the belt last month, Emelianenko's American mouthpiece Jerry Millen issued a statement that former professional wrestler wouldn't "make it out of the first round" against the "Last Empereor." It's more than likely time to put up or shut up.

Lesnar with the take down, Fedor reverses and ground and pounds his way to victory.

Lesnar needs a couple more fights before this ever happens. They should see how well he doesnt against Nog before ever thinking about this.

I think this would be a better fight than most people think it would be… no way Fedor puts or keeps Lesnar on his back, so that negates his GnP. How would Fedor react to being on his back for so long? I’d love to see it?

by 1-0 via Arm Triangle on Dec 27, 2008 12:22 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Fedor by submission. Brock is still too inexperienced to defend the submission skills of a guy of Fedor’s caliber. I think Brock’s best chance of winning is to catch Fedor with a hard punch while they are standing, similar to what he did to Herring. Either way, I’d say Fedor wins this fight 9 times out of 10.

Fedor by armbar

see Hong Man Choi (who is bigger than Lesnar) fight where he got pounded for 2 minutes & pulled off armbar on the 2nd try

As Fedor’s biggest fan, I am sick of this crap! Dana is never going to sign the best fighter on the planet, so he may as well keep the Kings name out of his mouth.

Fedor will never set foot in the Octagon because right now, He doesnt need the UFC and the UFC doesnt need him….so neither side will back down during negotiations.
Instead Dana is going to keep pretending like he is actually making an effort to sign Fedor, when in reality its just a ploy to make Fedor look like its his fault that he isnt in the UFC, when in fact….Dana could get Fedor signed but he is too much of a control freak. To bad Fedor cant be controlled like Dana’s puppets (Jon Fitch)!

i agree. i think it would be closer tha people think. give brock another year to see if he is still improving at such a rapid pace. and brocks arm is like a tree trunk. i dont see anyone who has the strength and ability to armbar him.

Uh John, Millen was was also commenting on Lesnar which means Fedor’s at least thought about the matchup. So why not point out how useles it is for Fedor to be thinking about Lesnar? Maybe, cause you just simply hate the UFC too much to be impartial?

by Jrandolph on Dec 27, 2008 6:10 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

john, how many more guys have to walk right through guys like CC and Nog for you to realize Fedor hasn’t fought the best guys out there? CC had Fedor busted up and Fedor didn’t come close to finishing him. GG owed CC the entire fight and now Mir completely DESTROYED Nog in a little over 1 round. The only guy Fedor has fought from the UFC is a washed up Timmy who can’t beat anyone other than a one armed Vera (who can’t seem to win a fight himself). When Fedor grows a set of gahonas and gets his ass in the UFC and beats the top 5 guys, then and only then can we say he is the best, because he hasn’t even fought the best yet. When AA beats him you will know what I’m talking about.

by Gord on Dec 28, 2008 1:43 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Seeing that you were wrong about AA, I guess we still don’t know what you’re talking about, Gord. Fedor has the gahonas, but your man Dana has a little control problem. Don’t you think it’s funny that you were wrong about AA? It really is funny.

by Zippy on Mar 22, 2009 3:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree. Lesnar is a natural talent, but he is nowhere newar Fedor’s level. The guy is just too well rounded for him.
On another note, I wonder if Jerry Millen is an official spokesman for Fedor? Millen is a fucking joke and a homo (not in the literal sense, that would be an insult to them). Isn’t his real name Gary, like he thinks Jerry sounds cooler or something. I’ve read interviews that Bas did about that moron and he pretty much throws the guy under the bus on everything. And Dana’s comments on that pillow biter are classic.

by the_mexicutioner on Dec 27, 2008 12:51 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

by ndnman on Dec 27, 2008 1:18 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I hope you’re being sarcastic. It’s called a figure of speech, buddy. Anyway, here is the piece written by Bas himself blasting Millen. Hopefully it will get past moderation, being that it’s from another site (sorry Mania).

The money genrated by this matchup may possibly be enough for Dana to come down off of his pedastal and swallow his ego for a bit and do a bit off cross promoting. We missed out of the biggest MMA fight that never was because of him and the UFC, but in the next breath they keep on talking about giving the fans what they want. They will probably want to take at least 75% of the profits before they ever put this one together.

Exactly, it’s all Fedor not the UFC. 200 fighters seem to DEAL with the rules of the UFC and don’t have any problems signing on the dotted line. Fedor is a whining, sniveling wretch who thinks he should some how have SPECIAL treatment, bullshit to that, the same rules should apply to EVERYONE. Only Fedor has problems with the rules, so it is Fedor to BLAME,not Dana.

by Gord on Dec 28, 2008 2:22 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Dana’s not worried about the money at this point. I think he’s worrried more about the marketshare. He doesn’t want to partner with another promotion, simply because it would give them momentum. I like Affliction, but I really don’t think they’re going to have much of a chance at competing with the UFC in the near future. Obviously, EliteXC was a stupid freakshow. I will admit that Dana has a little too much pride, but he’s been pouring his blood sweat and tears into the UFC for almost a decade, and maybe he feels that these other upstart promotions arent worthy because they’re trying to get rich quickly by essentially copying what he did.

The first person Fedor should ever fight in the UFC is Randy. Let Brock do his thing.

by Mike on Dec 27, 2008 9:59 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Fedor would do to Randy what Fedor did to Timmay, unless Fedor just chose to take it easy on him out of pity/respect. Brock has the physical tools to make it a competitive fight, but Fedor is just too good right now for anyone, especially someone as inexperienced as Brock.

by PW on Dec 27, 2008 10:29 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Wake up to reality, Fedor couldn’t finish top guys like CC and Nog, yet there are guys in the UFC that have DESTROYED both of them. The only 2 top ten HW’s Fedor has beaten (by decision) is a striker with zero ground game (CC) and a submissionist with shitty striking (yes,Nogs striking is nothing special). Timmy is hardly a top ten anymore, he can’t buy a win. There is a lot of truth to the saying, “If you haven’t lost you AREN’T fighting the best guys”.

by Gord on Dec 28, 2008 2:34 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Reality come on fedor did finish alot of top fighters. Ther Was 6-4, 240-pound Andre Arlovski, whom Fedor took out with one right hand. Ask 6-8, 260-pound Tim Sylvia, whom Fedor choked out in 36 seconds. Ask ’’Minotauro’’ Noguiera, who at 6-3 and 240 was PRIDE champion and considered unbeatable until Fedor pounded on him for three rounds in December of 2004. Just to name a few. The only thing that kinda erks me is that he hasn’t been fighting as much as he should be.

by pug on Dec 27, 2008 10:42 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

It is real easy to say this crap, but I would be willing to bet that nobody and I repeat nobody will ever arm bar Brock .He would pick up Fedor and slam him on his head Rampage style, and everybody knows that,I am not saying that he would beat Fedor, but he would do a lot better than some of you guys are giving him credit for,and yes he is a real champion ,he beat Randy. Some people will hate on Brock forever,I thought it would stop after he beat Randy, but no.So I already know that if he beats Nog,you will still hate on him. Some people you can never change. What has he done to deserve such disrespect? He has been willing to fight who ever they put in front of him,he has not avoided one fighter, yet here you are hating on him for his past in the WWE,you would have done the same if they had came to you with the money they offered him.Brock ,on the other hand, left the WWE because he craved real competion,so now he is in UFC ,willing to fight whatever fighter they want him to fight.

by Scott on Dec 27, 2008 11:30 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

More specifically, Brock left the WWE to pursue a career in the NFL, and then got cut from the Minnesota Vikings. After that, he decided to fight in MMA. Coincidentally or not, he has descended the ladder in the order of the amount of money a professional athlete makes.

As far as getting caught in armbar: I agree that a submission will be tough against him, but it is a very definite possibility. I would bet thats how Nog would win if they fight.

by --utaptout-- AKA..."The Prodigy's" 4th biggest hugger on Dec 27, 2008 12:42 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

That is why I do not think that Nog will beat him, everybody knows that Brock is working on his submission defense,I think for Nog to beat him it will be by UD.Yes ,but he left because he hated the way he was making money,he did try the NFL,even though he had not played in years, and was the very last person cut.He was only offered the league minimal ,he makes more in UFC than he was ever offered in the NFL.He was offered 150,000 a year in NFL,and what was his salary alone for the Randy fight,I know it was more than 200,000 I believe it was closer to 500,000 but I could be mistaken

by Scott on Dec 27, 2008 3:18 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Sorry dude but Brock working on his submission defence for the past 2-3 years is not going to be good enough against a guy who has been training BJJ his whole life pretty much. Thats like saying i’m gonna train Muay Thai for the next 2-3 years and then go into the cage and beat Silva.

yes but everybody does plateau… perhaps silva and fedor are on a level above everyone else, maybe they are even on a level that no one will EVER reach, but well see… some stud might just be out of this world in some department of mma and run through these big names, who knows? theres got to be some talent out there thats not being tapped…

His natural strength, makes up for his lack of experience, and sorry dude, you are no Brock

by Scott on Dec 27, 2008 8:20 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Exactly Scott, Brock is inexperienced in MMA, but he has a HUGE advantage because he is HUGE,lightning fast, a great wrestler and athlete and he has a sledgehammer for a right hand. He has dropped all 3 of his opponents with 1 punch. Brocks not going to get any smaller either, just better at MMA. For now I think he is only out matched (maybe) by a few submission guys. They better get to him quick, because as soon as he learns a little more sub defence it’s going to be hard for anyone to do much to him before they walk into that XXXXL right hand.

Dude, you named three heavyweights. Ass-lick-tion won’t make it out of ‘09. and you know it. Once Fedor rips thru a CHUMP that is Andei Arlovski, he’ll have no one to fight except rematches of people he’s already beaten. And what part of Brock Lesnar’s SHEER FREAKING STRENGTH do you NOT understand?!?!?! There will be NO arm BAR! And who the hell thinks Brock would take Fedor down, only to let Fedor sweep and MOUNT!?!?!?! IDIOT!
IF brock DID get Fedor to the ground, Fedor would be doing the EXACT SAME THING Mir was doing…HOPING AND PRAYING THAT BROCK LEFT A LIMB out…Mir was WHUPPED. He got lucky. Brock is only a purple belt, but with his size and strength, his growing knowledge of BJJ is going to be dangerous, because of his wrestling abilities.

I just don’t know how you guys could all POSSIBLY discount Lesnar…You are all probably the morons that were bashing Brock before the Couture fight, but i PROMISE not a single one of you would put your money where your FAT mouths are…At least concede that Brock vs Fedor would pull MAJOR MONEY, MAJOR AD REVENUES, and whet every mma fan’s appetite for more MMA destruction…

It’s a win for EVERYONE.

Arlovski? He gets a lot of hype that he really doesnt deserve. Lost to Tim Sylvia (twice) and put everyone to sleep against Werdum.

MMA Math doesnt work but it gives an indication:

Arlovski<Sylvia x2

Sylvia<Fedor
Sylvia<Nog
SylviaAfflcition

by Adam on Dec 27, 2008 12:33 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Lets not forget Arlovski destroyed Sylvia in the first matchup in about a minute then dropped him in the second and just got a little over aggressive going for the finish then came in with an injury in the third fight with Sylvia. He is a far better fighter than Sylvia and probably has the best standup in all of the heavyweight division. That being said i think Fedor will get him to the ground and submit him but Arlovski is definately the best test Fedor has ever faced in my opinion, (I think Nog would beat Arlovski but stylisticly I think Arlovski is a tougher matchup for Fedor).

For one there is some truth to that statement. CC and Nog getting their asses handed to them by UFC fighters is proof that Fedor hasn’t fought the best, because the best Fedor has fought is CC and Nog. Second, I think Dana is pulling every punch, he already tried a reasonable approach to get him, now he is trying to entice him into PROVING he is the best. Fedor is smart, he knows who he can and can’t beat and he does a good job of avoiding the ones that can. Great champions welcome and seek out the best fighters, not hide from them. Fedor has to step up to the challenge. He’s doing this with AA, lets hope he will continue once Affliction goes tits up.

“It’s more than likely time to put up or shut up.”

Right, because Fedor needs to prove himself, not Lesnar? As far as I am concerned Fedor and his team can claim he would armbar Godzilla and I would believe them. His records/career kinda do prove his point.

Fedor by arm bar

by DB on Dec 27, 2008 11:42 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

the only resaon Randy lost was because he got caught with one of lesnars lunchbox sized hands. that guy has an insane amount of strength.
He was pretty much dictating the fight to that point. Listen to the announcers talk about how Randy was able to neutralize lesnars wrestling advantages…..

by damon on Dec 27, 2008 12:08 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

but as good as shape as randy was in he was gassed in the 2nd round because of the strength difference. I never thought i’d see randy that tired in round 2.

by RiverHorror on Dec 28, 2008 12:51 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

He will never arm bar Brock Lesnar ,he is way to strong.Brock would just rip out of it or pick Fedor up and slam him on his head which would knock out Fedor ,so Fedor would not even go for it unless ,Brock is on his own back

by Scott on Dec 27, 2008 1:06 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Did you see Kevin Randleman drop Fedor on his head?..Fedor shrugged it off and tapped out Randleman! Theres no way Fedor’s getting KO’d.

by ndnman on Dec 27, 2008 1:20 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Did you see Kosaka when he had Fedor rocked but was too stupid to finish him right away? No one can say that they will never get KO’d

by 1-0 via Arm Triangle on Dec 27, 2008 4:46 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I take it that you never seen fedor fight before ? Brock is just another apponent that Fedor would CRUSH so easy.

by Il Nino on Dec 27, 2008 1:29 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yes I have seen Fedor plenty of times, and Randleman does not have the same strength and force that Brock has ,he is taller ,would be able to pull him up higher and slam him down with more force, then he would be back on top dropping them 4xl fist on Fedor.I repeat I am not saying that Brock would beat Fedor,I believe that Fedor is to smart to go for that hold ,because of Brock’s size.Think about it, Randleman slammed him what do you really think Brock would do

Fedor needs to get past arlovski first
Many don’t give him a chance but I think he’s the best challenge fedor has faced

And past nog?
We must wait after tonight to see who wins.
Its mma mir has chance

Overal I would love to see this

Brock wins by tko, similar to randy fight

by phenomenal angel on Dec 27, 2008 1:23 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I Like an earlier comment, providing Noguiera wins tonight against Mir, which shockingly I have Mir winning,(anything can happen),but I think we all need to see how Lesnar does against Noguiera, he lost to Mir, but maybe got ahead of himself, yet I believe Lesnar works hard and is probably really focusing on his ground game, if he beat Noguiera then maybe Fedor, its hard to say, I would like to see Fedor fight some big fights in 09, 10 and that includes guys in the UFC. I do think Lesnar is inexpereinced still if I compare him to Fedor, yet I do think Lesnar has natural talent (rare I might add, but there), I think actually Couture will fight Lesnar again next year or following if he wins his next fight or two, because Randy was doing well until he got caught, unless Randy decides to move down to Light heavy weight, not sure if he will, I would like to see belfort back in the UFC, whos going to win tonight , I hae no idea, can’t going to be a hurting unit if my satellitie doesn’t get back up, frigging snow, its everywhere in BC

I’m sorry but Fedor has never fought anyone like Lesnar. Hong man Choi is nothing like Lesnar. Choi has 0 grappling skills. The closest thing to Lesnar would probably be Fujita, and Fujita almost knocked him out. As long as Lesnar can avoid the submissions he can take Fedor.

by kukuxumusu on Dec 27, 2008 1:46 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Man you are really stupid,You know that ?

Brock dosent have the skills do beat FEDOR.

Yes we all know he beat up an old Randy, But to beat Fedor he needs atleast 5 more years of training. Maybe 10.

Nobody can take Fedor, and nobody has.

Exactly Scott… everyone can lose: Fedor, Lesnar, Anderson Silva, BJ, GSP… they can all lose. This is MMA, the same sport where Matt Serra Ko’d GSP. IF that can happen, Lesnar can beat Fedor, no doubt. It would be a classic fight and I would love to see it in a cage… rings are dumb

Its easy
Fedor wins by submission via the “Fedor Armbar”

by FEDORS ARMBAR on Dec 27, 2008 8:03 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Randlemen isn’t as strong or as successful in wrestling as brock

Brock has to keep it standing and if he does he wil land shots and cause damage, and he should attempt takedowns in the end of round to score more, but also in the end so fedor doesn’t have time to pull submission.

Fedor lost
By cut but he lost

Randy got cut by vitor, still a loss

I love fedor but I think brock has chance

Submission by Fedor ?? lol I dont even give Lesnar that much respect that Fedor will have to look for submission, Lesnar will be knocked the fck out in round 1 , if not he will be wishin he was as hes curled up waiting for Ref to stop the fight.

Dana destroy Pride ??? LMAO !!! There are some really stupid azz mma peanut gallery fans out there. Ill bet if Dana pissed down your back and told you it was raining youd believe him. The UFC snatched Crocop and claims that broke Pride, smoke some more Js and eat some more doritos so you cheese up your keyboards you dense fools. Pride was looking to sell long before Crocop was ever picked up by Dana, and Crocop was looking for a way out of Pride after losing so badly to overeem ( just like he left UFC) Yeah Dana really undermined Pride, an mma franchise that put 90 thousand asses in seats ( not some 15 to 20k )and had the top fighters in the world !!! included in tournement cards that have not been duplicated to this day by any orginization. Pride was the biggest company in MMA prior to it shutting down, who works at the number 1 company ? The Best of the Best!!! Asking a pride fighter to go to the UFC back when Pride was in business would be like asking the Doctor to quit and flip burgers, and meanwhile the owner of the burger joint makes claims he pays better and has better fighters yet never produced. He sent Chuck over and see what happened to him ?! Dana and the UFC are the only jack asses in the business creating smoke screens and dodging fighters and making everything rocket science or dramatic when all they should be doing is letting the fighters do what they do best, but when you shoot off your mouth and make false claims you gotta spens time gabbing to the media to create bogus storys to cover your ass in its deceit. DAMN !! DANA has alot of media time doesnt he !! Dumb azz even has to post his video blogs.. Always the first to bark to, whats the rule….guilty dog barks first !! So all you Newb mma fans that stayed stateside with UFC when the paydays were in Japan (where the pay is so are the best fighters) Really need some cold water thrown in your faces.

but who knows they say the best offence is a good defence so fedor might be in his game with his sambo and Judo

i hope fedor wins but i think it would be an interesting match!
