Naturally no Japanese fighting event would be complete without the addition of the occasional freak show.
In a bizarre (but certainly expected) twist, Bob ‘The Beast’ Sapp will take on none other than a character from a Japanese anime show.
The character in question is ‘Kinniku Mantaro’ from the show ‘Ultimate Muscle’. Mantaro is known to start matches off slowly and act a bit of a coward in the TV show until his opponent acts dishonorably (as Sapp does from time to time). Then Mantaro gets his inner strength and hulks up or something along those lines.
Now obviously someone’s going to be behind the mask and costume. That person will be Japanese amateur wrestling prospect Akihito Tanaka, so perhaps some skill will be involved and it won’t be a total squash match.
Sapp relies on his size when fighting and not so much technical prowess but in Tanaka’s case how do you out wrestle someone who weighs 350lbs?
And if that freak show announcement didn’t wet your appetite and you wanted more, then maybe Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic vs. 7' 2" ‘Techno Goliath’ Hong Man-Choi will since it's now officially confirmed by FEG.
Fields Dynamite!! is the New Year’s Eve supershow featuring a smorgasbord of fighters under the umbrella of FEG coming together on one night to try and kick the crap out of each other.
Featuring participants from DREAM, K-1, K-1 MAX and K-1 Koshien, Fields Dynamite!! is going to have a wide variety of fighting styles and compelling match-ups, and could feature as many as 20 fights.
Thus far it appears as though FEG is holding up their end of the bargain.
Here is the scheduled card to date:

Lightweight: Eddie Alvarez (15-1) vs. Shinya Aoki (18-3)
Lightweight: Hideo Tokoro (21-14-1) vs. Daisuke Nakamura (18-9)

Middleweight: Gegard Mousasi (24-2-1) vs. Musashi (49-28-5-1)
Heavyweight: Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic (23-6-2) vs. Hong Man Choi (1-1)
Lightweight: Tatsuya Kawajiri (22-5-2) vs. Kozo Takeda (43-18-7)
Lightweight: Yoshihiro Sato (47-10) vs. Artur Kyshenko (43-5-1, 1NC)
K-1 KOSHIEN RULES:
U-18 Tournament Semifinals: HIROYA (9-1) vs. Shota Shimada (3-0)
U-18 Tournament Semifinals: Ryuya Kusakabe (2-0) vs. Koya Urabe (2-0)

Wanderlei hurt his ACL and had to pull out of the Rampage fight! They dont think they can find a replacement in time so it looks like that fight will be replaced with Okami vs. Lister on the main card!

Kev, Last week was my 1st week of Christmas break, and because my internship was through DRexel, I get Off from work for as long as students are off on break. I spent the entire week, lying in bed with my girl watching TV, eating like a mad man, and just puffin trees.

Me too. This K-1 card is going to surprise many people. All of the hype in North America is for the UFC card, but I think this is a case where after UFC is over and done with…people will watch the K-1 event and wonder why the UFC one was so lame compared.
