i so feel the same way. watching gsp fight bj penn will alos be the same for me. Its funny, when this happens I only realize who I’m rooting for once the fight starts.

Thats a great point BOz! Leading up to the fight I feel that I cant chose 1 over the other, but while watching the fight I find myself actually rooting for one of them. It will be interesting to see who I root for when they fight.

john I know you have a wealth of knowledge, I want to know other than nog having to fight and beat herring 3 times and W silva having to fight rampage for a 3rd time after beating him twice has this happened with any other fighter where he has to fight a guy that he already beat twice.
The reason I dont want to see this fight is because W silva beat him twice I could understand if it was 1 and 1 and this was the trilogy I think when you get beat by someone twice you dont get a third chance just my opinion
I am still excited to watch and hope silva finishes him

Great question man! I dont recall this ever happening before, besides the 2 fights you pointed out!
U got me man, I am stumped! Great question. My answer is:
Not that I recall, but I could be wrong!

ya Fedor vs big Nog- If and this is a HUGE if afflication closes and fedor won’t have a home to fight, IF(again) he is able to fight for the UFC they might match him against Big Nog that would be the other fight your talking about….. that being said this fight is going to be crazy, i wish i can come to Vegas and see him train. ur pretty lucky bud
by ricky on Dec 21, 2008 1:52 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I dont live in Vegas, but I like to take trips out there. U better believe that next time I am out there I will visit him for one of his saturday training sessions!
I think I am going to the BJ vs. GSP fight so hopefully the gym will be open by then!

another time i can think of ’when a fighter had to fight
the same man a 3rd time after beating him twice’ is
wanderlei having to fight kazushi sakuraba 3 times..
so it seems like wand has the chance to beat a man 3 times agian.
but this time i see rampage winning via tko~ 2nd round.
i cant wait for this fight!!
i would watch these two fight 100 times[i dont care]
i love them both~
say word!

good call Stinik! I forgot about the zillion fights between Sakuraba and Wanderlei
Wanderlei fought many of his opponents twice or more. tHink about it:
Rampage 3 times next week
Hendo 2 times
Cro Cop 2 times
Arona 2 times
Sakuraba 2 times
Didnt he fight YOshida (hidehiko) twice?

Ortiz beat Ken Shamrock 3 times as well.
by ProKev on Dec 21, 2008 2:17 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
oh yeah~ another would be
old ken shammy having 3 losses from jacob~big head!
by stinky~fingers on Dec 21, 2008 2:23 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
yeah~ wanderlei has fought alot of peeps twice or thrice~
and yes he fought yoshida twice~ and beat him…twice
his two fights with cro copper are very notable fights for wand.
i loved the first time they fought~ with no judges
5 rounder. which imo wand could have won if it were judged.
and then of course wand[being the warrior he is]
jumped right in the open weight grand prix~ and scraped
a [in his prime] cro copper and wand refused to give up
even when the ko was almost a gaurantee near the end~
wand pleaded with the ref to keep it going!
god i love wanderlei fights!

Cro cop fought and beat Josh Barnett 3 times, although once Barnett tapped out with an injury in Pride. Maybe it was twice. I can’t remember.

Stink. THat 1st fight against Cro Cop was one of my favorite fights of all time! I agree that had there been judges, Wanderlei would have walked away with the WIN.
What impressed me in the open weight GP, was the beating he gave Fujita! Fujita is a monster who is known for being able to take a punch! Wanderlei EXPLODED on him and won via KO….very impressive!
btw, Fujita is the japanese Brock Lesnar
I would love to see that fight:
fujita vs. Brock!

Fujita can’t shoot for shit though, in his fight against Ken Shamrock he was so slow on the shot Ken had time to dip down and ram him with his shoulder; so lame..

The f’n man. Good to see his English improving. It will only make him more marketable.
by Pat on Dec 21, 2008 10:27 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
I must say WOW, his English is improving from interview to interview… is he a fast learner?
I mean he can’t have that much time to learn… well one thing is good, he’s surrounded by americans all the time and just that will help alot.
For the ones that say they need text, interpreter or whatever to understand him must have huge problems with their ears.
I’m not a fan and I’m rooting for Quinton, still I must say that his learning is great.
Hope to hear more interviews from him soon.

Guys. Does anyone have any news about the Mosley / Margarito fight. I hear it could be put back due to an investigation into Mosley drug taking dating back to 2003?
If this is postponed then Affliction will be very happy.

It is amazing how nice and mild mannered Wanderlei is whin he is not beating the p!ss out of people.

ya, wand is so frickin cool man, i like his comment in the espn video build up to the fight. “he talk sh!t about me. if you want to talk about me talk to my face. now he going to have a great opportunity to talk to me.”

My guess is the people who represent Juanito contacted Silva about training. But Juanito is a scum bag so who knows.

1.34. thats how far i made it into the interview before shutting it off. thats how long i predict it will take rampage to dismantle the axe murderer.

if these 2 guys come right at each other and start swinging….it will definately not last more than 1 minute….but, if they spend time feeling each other out it could take a while. I really think this time Rampage is planning to take Silva down and not keep it standing as his past 2 trys got him KO’d. I think if it goes to the ground, Rampage being the bigger and most likely stronger guy, will get a TKO win in the 1st or 2nd round with help from the cage. If the fight stays standing, I predict Wanderlei by brutal KO, but both guys of the power to end it with a brutal KO.

Wand definitely has a good defensive game on he ground as he proved that against Arona in 2 fights. Those fights were not that exciting… I think Arona laid down the plan on how to beat Silva. Having said that, Silva is a black belt BJJ. It should be interesting how it all has changed since their last fight.

I don’t know who I want to win this fight.
But I like this guy. He is just a classy humble guy. He wants to give a good show for his fans desperately, just a cool guy.
Someone tell Lyoto Machida to learn from him about building a fan base and trying to put on a good show. Notice that Silva talks more about having a great fight than winning, he would rather lose an exciting fight than win a boring fight running away from his opponent.
That’s the way things should be.
by Ben on Dec 21, 2008 11:33 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Wanderlie will win again with knees. Jackson is better this time but Wanderlie is better in every aspect of fighting.
Roach is only talking about BJ’s boxing not kicks, knees etc
Bj Penn has a very good jab and great footwork. He is also sick at BJJ from all positions. What got BJ last time was his takedown defense. GSP is the better wrestler and is more athletic and has better cardio. GSP’s plan is to throw a lot of kicks to keep BJ out of range so that it is not a boxing match. GSP also plans to go for takedowns at the end of rounds so there is not enough time for BJ to work his submissions. If I were BJ I would work on sprawling and checking kicks. If I were GSP I would work on fainting more. Get NJ thinking about the kicks and throw a superman punch. If BJ spraws, switch to a muay Thia clinch. It is a great match up.

I got Rampage in this one after watch wandy vs jardine and vs lidell to sloppy for me and also RIGHT NOW Rampage have more ko power WATCH RAMPAGE vs FORREST AND YOU CAN SEEING WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT he was close to KO Forrest with ONE LEG… definitely MY MONEY IS ON PAGE IN THIS ONE .
MERRY CHRISTMAS MANIA
by HALEXTITO on Dec 21, 2008 3:26 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
what!?! Ok, I’ll give you the Wandyvs Liddell fight..Wanderlei seemd a little “shy”…but Wanderlei Jardine was not a sloppy fight! Jardine got his arse handed to him…Wanderlei is not a tech striker if thats what you mean by sloppy, but neither is Rampage…watch FOrrest vs Rampage. If ANYTHING, Rampage is the sloppy one losing to “can’t bust a grape” Forrest and putting on a lame performance and getting laid on for a whole round.

im giving the edge to rampage, but waiting to see how he looks fight night before putting money on him. we all have to remember that rampage has mentally been to hell and back and litelly been to jail and the looney bin since his last fight.
wandi looks like his head is in the right place and he is ready. nice guy too.
