All hail the King: Muhammed Lawal returns at Sengoku 'Rebellion 2009'

World Victory Road announced the addition of wrestling phenom and Team Quest standout Muhammed Lawal to its January 4 Sengoku event at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
"King Mo" (2-0) is quickly becoming a household name overseas with dominating back-to-back performances at Sengoku 5 when he pounded out Fabio Silva and Sengoku 6 when he dismantled Travis Wiuff.
He won't exactly have a walk in the park when Mo-town locks horns with the dangerous Yukiya Naito.
Naito (15-4-2) has been competing since 2002 and is riding a six-fight win streak - ending his last four by way of brutal TKO.
It will be interesting to see if Lawal utilizes his exceptional wrestling or if he continues to throw hands.
Also in action at "Rebellion 2009″ is ex-Elite XC heavyweight champion Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva (11-1). He’ll meet Yoshihiro Nakao (7-1) — the guy who infamously kissed Heath Herring before their match three years ago.
In addition, the lightweight and middleweight titles will be on the line as Takanori Gomi and Satoru Kitaoka face off for the 155-pound crown while Jorge Santiago and Kazuo Misaki throwdown for the 185-pound strap.
And let's not forget about former Elite XC undefeated heavyweight Dave "Pee Wee" Herman (13-0) as he takes on Pride FC veteran Choi Mu Bae (7-3).
Here is the current fight card for Sengoku 'Rebellion 2009':

Antonio Silva (11-1) vs. Yoshihiro Nakao (7-1)

Mo was down in brazil helping Big Nog out for Mir. Very surprised when i first heard. The card is OK. Very few fights that aren’t one sided.

Gomi will show everyone why he’s one of the top lightweights in the world I expect him to rebound with a great effort and hopefully Sengoku finds an opponent for James Thompson he was rumored for this card.

I hate to say it ain’t so Joe but….No, he won’t be. And champ of what league? Definitely not UFC. WEC no longer has a MW division. Affliction…doubtful. He won against Silva and Wiuff but showed NUMEROUS areas of weakness that would be easily exploited by top competition. He’s had 2 fights. He’s not moving to the top anytime soon.

I don’t give a shit if he’s in the UFC. He can still have quality fights and compete for a championship OUTSIDE of the UFC. He doesn’t need to be a part of Zuffa to be relevant. That’s just people being oblivious to the rest of the Mixed martial arts world to think that.
