I predict Adam G will jerk off on this video, and say BJ’s name on this thread about 200,000 times. Dude is going to be so sad when BJ loses.

So how much makeup and prep time do you think BJ needs for these shows? This fight is gonna be a blowout. What i would pay to see the look on AdamG’s face when BJ quits in the fight. GSP
by NameNotRequired on Dec 17, 2008 8:28 PM EST up reply actions
i didnt know you need “prep time” in raw random footage from over a decade ago or when they are just filming him rolling with guys in the gym . . . What are you refering to cause i think it went over m y head. Now Georges, we’ve all seen the million dollar photos that cat takes, and the rediculous outfits and facial poses he has to sport in them are fantastic, how much prep time goes into those pitures huh? Probably twice as long as it takes to film ALL these shows of BJ just being himself. And has he ever looked any different at all, interview, post fight, pre fight, siging autos, backstage, calling out punks like GSP, no, he always looks the same. Im sure he puts on some cover up or something like the rest of em but even brock lesnar does that, you wanna say something to him??? BJ BJ BJ!!!

“The best mixed martial artist in the world”
Yeah right, this guy is so full of himself. Fedor, GSP or Silva would never say anything like that.
by Lester the Pimp on Dec 17, 2008 11:06 AM EST reply actions
only the best mixed martial artist would be allowed to say that. thats why gsp fedor and silva don’t say that and bj does. cause he’s better.
by jonsey on Dec 17, 2008 11:10 AM EST up reply actions
seriously. scale down any one of those guys to 155 with the same skill and bj owns all of em. bj has more skill with less effort than silva gsp and fedor and thats a fact. hence the moniker best mmaist in the world.
by jonsey on Dec 17, 2008 1:20 PM EST up reply actions
I have never seen Fedor lose so I cannot say if he was scaled down to 155, if he would beat BJ or lose to BJ. BJ is a great fighter and I can’t wait till he goes up against GSP. This fight will be crazy.

JV, theres a wonderful defense of your boy GSP, and I’d rather be intelligent than what you call a “real man”. Your definition of a “real man”, is the same as my definition of a “really ignorant man”. Pardon me for being educated.

Awesome video. If you’ve trained in BJJ, you know how insanely difficult it is to be good when you’re starting out, and the fact that BJ made it look so easy from the beginning is why they call him “The Prodigy”. BJJ is a beautiful art, and watching BJ roll is like watching poetry in motion…similar to watching the old videos of Rickson Gracie. I’ve already admitted that I’m a hugger, so shut up about it lol…:) BJ

I was impressed with this video, much better than the others, good for bj thats he’s taking this fight seriously like he always should have. Ya and I knew anderson was impressed with penn I’ve seen that video before, personally I don’t think penn would have much of a chance with anderson he would get picked apart and wouldn’t get close enough to take him down. I think fedor could beat silva, but if he couldn’t take it to the ground he’d lose. With gsp vs silva, I’d give silva the edge but gsp’s explosive wrestling is so good he would give silva a run for his money. Gsp can take down everyone at jacksons camp while they can’t take him down which means a lot, especially with rashad being there. It is very impressive how penn got his black belt in 3.5 years and did so well with white and blue belts in the beginning. I’ve heard a while ago silva was impressed with penns dexterity in his hands, and I admit he has very fast hands, but lacks well roundedness with his striking. This is an MMA fight not a bjj contest, just recently bader beat a 3 time bjj world champion by tko. Even with all of penns credentials he didn’t look that great on his back with a much inferior bjj figher at ufc 58 I think gsp had his purple or brown belt, gsp did very well considering who he was fighting. Gsp is a prodigy in his own way, he’s a top level wrestler with next to no credentials and can hang with the best of them. This upcoming fight will be very interesting, how much will penn have improved in his weaker areas and his cardio vs how much has gsp improved his skills over all, his cardio I don’t think was ever an issue, can’t wait to find out.
by nathan on Dec 17, 2008 1:52 PM EST reply actions
But at UFC 58 Penn was out of shape and still held his own, GSP couldnt finish an out of shape Penn, how will he beat an in shape one. I agree with a lot of what you said but wanted to point that out. If they hit the mat in the first 2 rounds, regardless of if Penns on his back or visa versa, Penn will not look to play and throw slow methodical punches on the ground like usuall, he will be treating this fight like the first Hughes fight, first chance to end it, take it. Except hes in shape now, he wont have to “wait” for a chance to end it, he’ll create one. BJ BJ BJ!!!

The first intro song to start the vid is called “Hawaii ’78” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. Thats what BJ uses to come out to, but he cuts Hawaii ‘78 short and goes into “E Ala E” for the majority of his walk-in. Both are by IZ-K or Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. Hes a great Hawaiian singer/songwriter, his covers of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” and “What a Wonderful World” with just his Yukalali are amazing and are often used in movies or comercials of all sorts. Id recomend the album “E Ala E”, very good but no Hawaii 78, i think a live album he did has both but its a bit different cause its live. BJ BJ BJ!!!

I agree with jonsey if fedor ,silva, gsp were all 155 with say 10% body fat and 5’9 penn would own them. They all have reach, strength, height and weight advantage on penn. Penn does do very well considering his size and by the true meaning of pound for pound I think penn is pound for pound the best fighter in mma if he can match his cardio with his skill. It is pretty much impossible to prove since we can’t shrink these other guys down but it’s just my opinion.
by nathan on Dec 17, 2008 2:15 PM EST reply actions
And with this “pound for pound” show down with gsp vs penn is kind of stupid, gsp is much bigger than penn and even if he wins it doesn’t mean he’s “pound for pound better”. I bet a 6’2 210 lb gsp would kick anderson silva’s ass and beat fedor too, but a 6’2 210 lb penn would kick gsps arse if his cardio was as good as gsp’s. Gsp’s athleticism, size and strength saved him in his last fight with penn. I just hope he’s improved a lot on his technique and brings his A game because other wise it’s going to be a bad night for him.
by nathan on Dec 17, 2008 2:29 PM EST reply actions
amen brother. how can anyone deny that? i mean the guy has fought people like machida and almost won when machida was well over 200 lbs! gsp is a great athelete and great in his own right but i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again. bj penn was born to fight. he has the superior mentality and that will be the difference. gsp is too timid. he is like a little boy in a mans body like on the movie big with tom hanks. he seems to lack confidence and i don’t believe him when he tells us all how confident he is in winning this fight and whats even worse is i can sense he doesn’t even believes himself! hate away gsp lovers!
by jonsey on Dec 17, 2008 3:52 PM EST up reply actions
Wish you to meet GSP for real… shake his hand and see that little boy you talkin about with your own eyes.
The way he talk is based on his unability to speak english like he would want to.
Look at Anderson Silva, it’s the same thing.
COnversation are just very simple… i think you must speak another language to understand it…
by Jee on Dec 17, 2008 4:16 PM EST up reply actions
But Ando smiles and doesnt care at all about his English or what people think of him. Hes always playing around even in his speach, having fun, like its all a movie to him and the bottom line in this flick is that HE knows hes the best fighter in the world so why care about how he looks to the masses, as long as it isnt like a rapist or something then why care, everybody else might think about my verbal skills for a second but than its right back to thinking what they were thining about befroe my talking began, that im the badest dude on this palnet and could probably kill you just by looking at you in a serious way, so i dont! The polar opposite of GSP bro, its ok though for real, everybody is different. Hell, my fav fighter (Penn) (Im sure that (Penn) wasnt needed huh) talks like a chipmunk with his nuts in a vice but i dont give a sh*t for a second. Back your fighter til he gives you a real reason not to! And his verbal skills in our native tongue shouldnt be that “real reason”. BJ BJ BJ!!! ANDO ANDO ANDO!!! a display of confidence has no language barriers. ive seen gsp when he’s confident he will win like against serra 1 and 2 or hughes 3. he doesn’t act the same around bj cause bj is in his head just like he gets in everyone’s head before a fight. he knows bj means business and he remembers being outclassed in that first round in the first fight and he knows what he’s in for for the second one. a hellacious little brother ass stomping.

I’m not on the darkside, I just call a spade a spade and pretty much have always felt that way, I think I can be objective more so than the other gsp nut huggers. I can see some of the valid points and flaws in both the penn and gsp nut huggers. But I have to admit its a little premature to call someone the king just yet maybe in a few years of fighting gsp might be recognized as number one or penn or who knows. It all depends on these guys performance in the next years to come. I still think if these guys all weighed the same, gsp would still be the best wrestler and athlete, penn the best bjj fighter in mma and anderson silva the best striker.
by nathan on Dec 17, 2008 3:48 PM EST reply actions
Good assessment, but I think if you shrunk GSP down to 5’9", and he fought at 155, then there is NO WAY that he’d beat BJ. His wrestling is so good and he’s so phenomenal at 170 because he’s by far the biggest 170 out there. Look at the size difference when he fought Koscheck. Not taking anything away from him, but if it weren’t for his size advantage and ability to make a 20-25 lb cut for every fight, GSP wouldn’t be the fighter he is. Thats why I don’t think GSP would do nearly as well fighting at 185. And yes, that also means that I don’t think he’d be able to beat Ando if he does beat Penn. I truly believe, and not just because I’m such a big fan, that if every fighter out there was the same size as BJ Penn, then BJ Penn would beat them all hands down. That is why BJ Penn is the #1 P4P fighter in the world in my book. And that is also the reason I am such a big fan of BJ
by --utaptout-- AKA..."The Prodigy's" 4th biggest hugger on Dec 17, 2008 4:54 PM EST up reply actions
I’m a gsp fan and I hope he wins but can’t argue with the fact gsp doesn’t have the fighter mentality, he almost seems sheepish at times and is half the reason I like him, but I wouldn’t call him timid and definitely not in the octagon. Anderson silva is another fighter who really lacks the fighter mentality outside the octagon but is vicious in the cage. I personally think diego sanchez is the biggest savage or has the biggest fighter mentality out there, penns up there too but as one of the color commentators said it must take a lot of effort just to keep that mean look on diego’s face :)
by nathan on Dec 17, 2008 4:19 PM EST reply actions
I use to love it when Penn would run to the ring, slap the sh*t out of himself in front of his opponent like a wild animal but not like a Rampage all over doing it like a fool, just getting ready for war. Hella twitching and shifting his shorts to get comfortable like a loon! He always beats his opponent to the center of the cage and throws first, always. I want to see Penn/Sanchez but i wanted to see it at 170, i give Penn a big advantage at 155 until i see how Diego handles the cut and the speed his new foes pose. But Diego’s so fast that you might not even be able to see him now that hes even faster. He ditched that chick and sounds dedicated to getting a belt and is going for it a very smart way i think, good luck and i hope this makes BJ keep both belts so he can fight Diego as well as others that now make the division a bit deeper than a week ago. Diego/Huerta, Diego/KenFlo2, Diego/Sherk, Diego/Guida, and Diego/Penn are what id like to see from Diego in his first 2 years at LTWT.
