The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 8 Finale bonuses andawards

The Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale from The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada has officially wrapped, which means that it’s time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.

To the tune of $25,000 each.

The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 20 fighters on the card. And it shouldn’t come as a shock whose wallets are leaving Sin City a wee bit heavier.

In addition to their base salaries, the UFC awarded lightweight scrappers Junie Browning and Dave Kaplan for their two rounds of brisk action. It was a dominant performance by Browning that was just one of many surprises at the live finale.

Krzysztof Soszynski took some time to get the kinks out but eventually locked up the arm of a very timid Shane Primm in the second round of their light heavyweight affair. Soszynski cranked in a Kimura that for a moment looked like it was headed to the land of Al-Hassan until the Primm Reaper wisely tapped out.

Welterweight Anthony Johnson took home knockout of the night with his thrilling third-round head kick on Kevin "Montgomery" Burns. "Rumble" was mired in a back-and-forth battle with the Iowa native until a go-for-broke leg kick met the jaw of Burns and put him to sleep.

You could probably make the argument for Burns and Johnson getting Fight of the Night honors based on the duration of the fight and the fact that it was a little more evenly matched, but the UFC saw Browning vs. Kaplan as the night's finest display of fisticuffs.

Here are the special fight bonuses for "The Ultimate Fighter 8 FInale:"

Fight of the Night : Junie Browning vs. Dave Kaplan
Submission of the Night : Krzysztof Soszynski
Knockout of the Night : Anthony Johnson

Again, each fighter received $25,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along shortly.

Just wanted to say i called the bader fight 100%. Also Anthony Johnson is legit. He showed everything you need to succeed as a welterweight and more. Excellent top game, calm reaction to bad positions and serious power.

Rumble Johnson and Burns should have got fight of the night as well as Johnson getting KO of the night.

other than the fact that dana’s in love with judy browning, it was an interesting night watching rumble get his payback. nover, primm, vinnie, and kaplan were disappointing tonight.

primm was disappointing? When was primm ever just appointing? He looked like GARBAGE on the show. Did you honestly think the smallest 205 (primm) would pull the upset on the biggest (krystof)?

Yo mike, you gotta agree with me right?
Browning and Sherk match up??

by BrowningForLife on Dec 14, 2008 4:43 AM EST up reply actions

Shut up about junie, he beat some other castoff of the show just like him, sherk would destroy him without breaking a sweat, so many idiots getting there panties in a knot because he beat dave kaplan.

by LG on Dec 14, 2008 1:09 PM EST up reply actions

Sherk would, IMO, KILL Browning.

by chefdaddy on Dec 14, 2008 2:32 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t like Sherk at all, but he would beat Junie with his own arm while telling Junie to stop hitting himself.

LOL, thanks for the great visual PW.

rumble and burns was fight of the night – no question. Junie was dominating from the opening bell, kaplan showed no skill. How is a one sided ass whooping fight of the night over a thrilling back and forth battle? junie’s a prick and dana just keeps rewarding him. Junie’s punk ass will get a very quick wake up call when he fights anyone with talent. browning vs sherk? please! browning doesn’t even deserve to watch sherk on TV much less be in the octagon with him!

chhh… um sherk by whatever he wants.

by mrBlonde on Dec 14, 2008 6:48 AM EST reply actions

Who picked that as fight of the night?
Best entrance of the night for sure (Kaplan).
Most one sided fight of the night, likely.

Escudero vs Nover was a lot better
Johnson vs Burns was a lot better

Maybe Junie is Dana’s cousin.
