I see Gouveia had some problems.. maybe getting to 185 is too big of a cut for him to deal with

I may be late on this but has anyone seen that they are using submission moves in the WWE? I just saw some dude pull an arm bar on a guy. Put it on for a second, hilarious. Wasn’t very effective. Got “kicked” in the head from that position but amusing nonetheless.

Yeah I think it’s the undertaker who has a move now thats like a gogoplata… he’s an mma fan though so i guess its ok

I saw it the other night (not that I was watching wrestling or anything) its called the Hell’s Gate. That’s way more evil than a Gogo.

For them not to give him time to cut for health reasons, he must of been in pretty bad shape. I’m almost thinking of betting against him now.

i agree. i think gouieva should have to give up more than 20% of his purse as well. raise it up 50% and guys will try a little harder imo.

Your probably right b.w. I am his biggest fan, but 4 lbs is unexceptable. I don’t get it though, he made 185 his first fight at that weight. I wonder what the deal is?
by BNF on Dec 12, 2008 9:41 PM EST up reply actions
BNF. whos knows? it’s possible he could have had an injury in camp, but if that was the case he should have pulled out. there really is no excuse. it’s only a catch weight for gouivea, macdonald didnt have the luxury of only having to cut down to 189, and he’s a big mw. he could have not fought, but then he wouldn’t have got paid. anyway you look at it, it sucks. not making weight is 2nd only to testing positive for roids to me in unforgivable deeds. OFF SUBJECT: aol fanhouse is reporting that thiago alves might have to fight swick before he gets a shot at gsp/bj. might be to his past weight issues (just an assumption on my part)

Isn’t it obvious? Mania has been on the coors light again, screwed up the site code and then passed out.
He’ll awake soon enough to put things right.

I’ve had a few pops, I see a bunch of underlines and my boy Gouveia… WTF man. Very dissapointing.
by BNF on Dec 12, 2008 9:24 PM EST up reply actions
I heard its some weird virus going around attacking MMA sites and bloggers who have nothing else to do but complain about underlines
by Robert on Dec 12, 2008 9:29 PM EST up reply actions
If SOME fights can happen at “catchweight”, why not ALL fights? Personally, I find weightclasses to be uninteresting and unfit for Mixed Martial Arts. Boxing and Wrestling can keep that shit to themselves.
by wang on Dec 12, 2008 9:16 PM EST reply actions
If you find weight classes to be “uninteresting” then maybe MMA isn’t the sport for you. May I recommend XARM?
by GregC on Dec 12, 2008 9:27 PM EST up reply actions
I know weight classes are ridiculous! I mean who doesn’t want to see Brock Lesner vs. Kenny Florian….or even better Brock vs. Sherk that would be a Battle!…..sigh
by Psyqo78®™ on Dec 12, 2008 9:31 PM EST up reply actions
It’s not like either of these two are ever gonna be in title contention so might as well let them have a catchweight to keep more fights on the card.

it really seems like this season’s cast has really gotten their crap together, mostly everyone looked really cut or huge as well as very much in shape. also i bet roop would wear his hat into the octagon if he was allowed to
by megatherium on Dec 12, 2008 10:17 PM EST reply actions
LOL @ Nover v Efrain as the main event.
Surely this is co-hideliner?
by zulu9812 on Dec 12, 2008 10:35 PM EST reply actions
UFC shouldn’t have tried to get Wilson to the MW Div. He can’t make that cut very well and I’m sure Goran will have the same problem.
MacDaddy for the Decision Win.

diaz vs guida would have been the perfect main event for this card to pull in even more viewers
I think this is the first time that the actual contestants from the show are the main event kinda sucks because both finales in each wieght class have the potential of both being short onesided fights

This is off-topic but did you guys see the recent video Frank Mir did on MMA fix? He said something like how he had to explain to his 16 years old son about the show?
Well, I just realized Mir is only 29 yearsold. That means he had a child at 13? It also means he knocked up a chic at 12… OMG
