shogun Vs Rua looks like Father VS Son!

by Syd[a.k.a."The Negation"] on Dec 11, 2008 12:26 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

he doesn’t need anything to offer. he’s up against shogun, that’s a cakewalk. he could limp in on one leg and blind in one eye and still have no trouble with shogun. without the juice and soccer kicks shogun has nothing to offer anyone in the UFC.

after shogun loses they should bring back soccerjew and match them up against each other with the tag line “battle of the overrated pride veterans with both the winner and loser leaving town because they suck” I’d buy that PPV!

by jj on Dec 10, 2008 1:37 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

your kidding right- he just isn’t a BJJ black belt and put Kevin Randelmen in one of the most hardcore knee locks- he didn’t just knock the hell out of Rampage and rampage admited fighting shogun was much harder than W.Silva- he has ALOT to offer and wasn’t over rated at all. he faught Forrest Injured(no credit taken away from forres) BUT he damanged forrest more than rampage was able too…. should i go on??

by ricky on Dec 10, 2008 3:38 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

fucking agreed ricky….. u all guys will see that shogun its a champ material

shogun shogun shogun shogun

by JoW on Dec 10, 2008 4:50 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Damn Right Ricky! Shogun will be UFC champion sooner rather than Later. Shogun IMO is the best LHW in the world.

He was over anxious to make his UFC debut and underestimated Forrest. THose 2 things combined for why he took the fight on 1 leg and like you said, he did Bust Forrest up in that one.

U know how embarressed Shogun was about his UFC debut? He was Horrified! I know he wont set foot into that Octagon unless its as the Shogun of the Pride days which is going to spell Trouble for every LHW out there starting wit Coleman!

Lock of the Year…Shogun over Coleman!

Hendo has had some tough fights to say the least…Rampage, Silva, and Franklin…

by McArthur on Dec 10, 2008 9:49 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Dont forget Wanderlei as well… lol That has got to be one of the toughest 5 fight runs ever:

LHW: Wanderlei Silva
LHW: Rampage Jackson
MW: Anderson Silva
MW; Rousimar Palhares
LHW: Rich Franklin

by Adam on Dec 10, 2008 1:04 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

good point the guy will fight the best in any wieght class and has,

Going into this fight I think dan has no worries because franklin will not be a threat to end the fight anywhere. and because of that dan will let it all hang out and throw bombs at franklins head and body he wants and needs a finish BAD and franklin is the perfect match up and opponent for him to do it.

by dia mette on Dec 10, 2008 4:30 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I got henderson and coleman!

by kevin on Dec 10, 2008 10:51 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

kev….coleman??? if you got a minute I wouldn’t mind reading your reasoning behind that one

by McArthur on Dec 10, 2008 11:13 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

minute, I haven’t worked in 2 months, have gained 20 pounds, hell I got all day!
To be honest, it’s simply a gut feeling! I know some consider shogun a top LHW, I’m sorry, he has to prove it to me! I’ve watched his brother put on a couple of the worst showings ever, and who’s to say that shogun won’t do the same? I’m not saying he will, but coleman is no slouch! We’re talking about a guy who is one of the best wrestlers in the world, who gave fedor a great fight and in my opinion was very close to winning! There is bad blood between the two, which is never a good thing for the younger fighter coming off of an injury, not to mention it was widely reported that shogun requested an easy fight for his return! UFC thankfully said no (their not going to pay a guy that kind of money for a gimme!)

by kevin on Dec 10, 2008 11:46 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Kevin: When are you going to realioze that Coleman is the Gimmie fight that Shogun asked for.

Kevin: U know to muych about mma to be making this pick! This is your worst pick since you tried to tell everyone that Serra was going to beat GSP in Canada!

Take it back Kev, you are better than that!

by john on Dec 10, 2008 12:28 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

JOHN. what about the mccully over gonzaga pick? that was pretty bad too. i think kevin just likes attention. hi kevin! :)

by b.w. on Dec 10, 2008 1:54 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I’m back liking Gonzaga, at that point, I thought he was getting way too much hype for killing an obviously all don cro cop. that was a bad pick though.
Serra, I was convinced, look at his record, he’s beaten good fighters, lost decisions (except shonie carter) to great fighters, and had already KO’d GSP, that was a legit pick!
I think you guys are underestimating Coleman! I have no problem owning a loss, I stand behind this pick, at least for another month!
attention, nope, just an honest pick…making it and not caring what you guys think or say!

by kevin on Dec 10, 2008 2:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

KEV. you know im just busting your balls. you know you care though. :)

by b.w. on Dec 10, 2008 2:42 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I have to go with John here Kev. Coleman won with the only thing he could last time, an injury. Only a DQ would save again.

by NameNotRequired on Dec 10, 2008 2:50 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yeah B.w. I know you’re kidding around, and you got me, I truly value a bunch of guys who I’ve never met and probably never wills opinions of me! I don’t know how I would go on without all the mmamaniacs approval!

Not to be pedantic here, but Dublin is not in the UK. The “United Kingdom” (a politically LOADED phrase btw) consists of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Dublin is the capital of the Republic of Ireland.

If you are coming over to Dublin you will be made feel very welcome. This will be my first live MMA/UFC experience and I’m very much looking forward to it also. Have also picked up tickets for UFC 95 (in the UK;) in the hope that A Silva makes an appearance.

Back on topic – Have a feeling for Shogun and Franklin. Although I think I’d rather see Hendo win this one; due primarily to rolling consequences that will arise from that fight (ie: the Bisbing and possibly Silva fight)

That’s all folks.

by Maynard on Dec 10, 2008 12:23 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

word of advice man, dublin and ireland are not in the UK, so if you are coming over i’d advise never say to an irish person that you love the uk because we dont like it very much! we faught hard not to be part of it for a long time! the ufc in my home town i’m delighted! cannot wait, hendo and shogun i reckon, hope you enjoy your trip, dublin is a fun town!

by Austin on Jan 1, 2009 10:45 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

also dana has confirmed the winner of franklin/hendo will coach opposite of bisping on the upcoming season of tuf. I dont get it though, they moved rich up to 205 and now if he wins they are moving him back down to 185 to see if bisping can prove he is ready for a title shot? Doesnt make much sense to me, just give hendo the job as i think he would beat bisping and he probably has the best chance of any middle weight in the world to beat silva.

by matt on Dec 10, 2008 10:07 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

HENDO! HENDO! HENDO! HENDO! HENDO! HENDO! HENDO! HENDO! HENDO! HENDO! HENDO! HENDO! HENDO! HENDO! HENDO! HENDO!

With that said, the last I heard was that Rich was not really interested in coaching again, nor is he or anyone else interested in him fighting Silva again, and he has been gaining muscle mass to fight at 205. If Hendo wins, he will take the TUF coaching gig.

That should give fans that much more of a reason to root for Dan Henderson! If you are rooting for Franklin in this fight, it means you want to see Franklin/Silva 3. The benefits of any scenario is that Bisping is going to catch a manly beatdown.

by ViolentMike on Dec 10, 2008 10:32 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

mm i dont want to see franklin silva 3 but i see franklin winning this via UD… not really thinking in the near future

by JoW on Dec 10, 2008 10:43 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

if hendo loses, marquart should be the coach

agreed

by JoW on Dec 10, 2008 2:51 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I love Hendo as much as the next man but he has yet to prove to me that he is not DONE!!!!

The Hendo of old would have punched Franklins head into the nose bleed section. I hope to see that version of Henderson show up to fight in Dublin.

by john on Dec 10, 2008 12:29 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

A guy loses a close decision, in which many thought he won, to Rampage, then loses to Spider, a fight in which he won the first round handily and is why many want to see a rematch, then beats Palhares, and he has to prove to you he’s not done? Why do you even think that?

by R/p on Dec 10, 2008 1:57 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

NO oNE thought he beat Rampage! I am a die hard Hendo fan, but if you think he even remotely resembles the nasty mofo that he was in PRIDE then u r sadly mistaken!

by john on Dec 10, 2008 2:24 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Um watch that fight again; he beat Page. He took round 1 and 2 and round 5 was the only tossup. A lot of people thought he won or it should have been a draw.

I never said he was the same but you said he has to prove to you he’s not done. WHich is absurd given his performances and the competition he’s faced.

by R/p on Dec 10, 2008 2:57 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I was rooting for Hendo in his LHW title fight, but I thought Rampage won pretty convincingly. Additionally I would agree that he hasn’t looked the same in his UFC fights, but I think he’s far from being done. He’s still one of the toughest fighters out there and I hope he puts on a good performance against Franklin.

before he gets any older the UFC should give us what we really want to see:

Hendo vs. Wanderlei 3 THE RUBBER Match!

My prediction for the penultimate fight was that Coleman would gas during the pre-fight interview. I was wrong. He already gassed during the promo photo shoot.

he might break a hip walking out to the cage. :)

They changed and got a new pic of Shogun on there… not the one when he first came to UFC. It looks like the old badass Shogun and I think this was the best match possible for Shogun at this point in his UFC career. Coleman does look like a cancer patient, but this match gives Shogun a chance to get into a groove inside the octagon and get retribution for that bs loss.

Im getting really worried about ufc 95, not 1 fight scheduled yet!!

Lets be honest, fights should be scheduled more than 3 months before the event, which puts us 2weeks or so behind, and not 1 single fight is on the card as far as im aware!!!

plus how long does it take for fighters to get ready, Iv heard of 8week camps, but boxers for instance generally train for 3months????

Any rumours other than Cain v anderson??
