LOL, so much Mir stuff today, you guys must hate this! I’m not a Mir fan (not a hater either), but I think he has a better skill set then you all give credit! Frank is right, you guys saw what spike and the UFC wanted you to see! Frank came off bad because they wanted him to come off bad! I agree 100% it’s production, Junie would get his ass kicked in the “real world” if he pulled that shit. I 100% don’t agree with the booze being so rampant yet no tv or books. I think the guys should be rewarded for wins (not just monetary), and thrown off for doing wrong and illegal things!
listen to him admit that he was a terrible fighter after his accident and give Nog his props by saying he’s one of the best fighters in the world! Anyone who says Mir’s attitude here is bad is High! He explains himself well and is very realistic about the show and fighters in general!
Guys are on this show for one reason: to get into the biggest and best organization in the world! If these morons don’t want to take it seriously, FUCK THEM!

He cared about the show and what dana wanted while Big Nog cared about his fighters futures. Man is a saint. Also there is no situation ever where people should talk back to Big Nog. In conclusion, Couture – you can’t run forever, we’ll get you.

That’s some grown-ass man talk right there! I’ve always respected him anyway but Mir’s stock just went way up with me. He’s still got one heckuva road to travel against Nog but I wish him a good showing at the very least. Win or lose he deserves to be fighting the top guys from here on out.

i agree with most of what you said except that they wanted mir to look bad, i would say he did that to himself and it wasn’t because of how he handled junie.

yeah roy, I tend to agree with you on that! he comes off like an arrogant “high school” athlete! he is at the top of the mma mountain, and has to have an edge! all the top guys (except GSP) are oozing with confidence, bordering on arrogance!

The soccer challenge did it for me. There is no way to edit anything that he said. He was just butt-hurt and felt above the whole thing.

the soccer challenge was first to how many points? of course they edited it, it could have been a 90 minute challenge, they showed 5 minutes…5 minutes of mir being a bitch and guys mocking him. Him saying that the guy booing will never be a stud didn’t bother me, he probably won’t be! second, who cares about a challenge for 10k, it’s gay, the show should be more about the young up and comers, make it about them making extra or doing challenges. prizes could include a phone call home or a rub and tug, it’s vegas, it’s legal!

I got a lot of respect for Mir and its funny that he wanted that interview. Seems like a lot of people must have confronted him about this stuff, too bad cuz he seems like a good guy. I will be rooting for him come Dec. 27.

Well said Frank, I still think you’re somewhat of an egotistical selfish prick… but ur a smart selfish prick.

This is like the only thing that Frank Mir has said for a while that I can respect Big Nog is still going to whip his ass though!

Mir is cool. We’re a critical bunch of dick’s on this site and here’s a guy who we’ve seen a whole lot of lately. We disect every comment, so given the volume it’s easy to find something to compalin about. Overall though, I like the guy. I hope he beats Nog. I think he will bring more fans to the sport. But I wouldn’t put money it. It’s hard to know where he’s at as a fighter these days. I hope we get a long fight to see how far he’s come and if his cardio has improved.

I’m really glad that Mir stepped and said what everyone has been thinking. I hope Junie loses on Saturday and his ass is sent packing

I’m a little conflicted. Yeah, I agree with everything Mir said about Junie, and yet I’d like to see Junie get his shit together. No one feels sorry for a guy with a temper problem, but it’s worth pittying as much as anything else. Let’s face it, if your confident, well-adjusted, and happy, you don’t act like Junie.

mir made a whole lot of sense and kinda redeemed himself still. well put out, well done mir. looking forward to the fight, hope you do well.
love nog, he’s a great guy. nuff said bout him.
as for junie, i wouldn’t mind if ufc made him not just a better fighter but a better man overall.

Mir made a lot of sense. Mir looked like a prick on the show though. But he breaks things down pretty effectively. But yeah I kinda wanted Junie to do well because I felt sorry for how stupid and talented(kind of) he is. Look forward to Mir/Nog. But I think Nog will win though.

Talented?? well he definitely didnt like to show much of it if he was

I don’t know how you can’t like Mir. The guy is very straight up and down to earth. He’s definitely changed as a fighter since before the accident. As he said, his three fights in his return were horrible and they were. He didn’t have his head straight. Now he does. Now he’s focused and training his ass off so I can’t wait to see where he’s at. Because here’s a guy at 29, that has all the ability in the world to be one of the best, if not the best HWs in the world.

Wow, Frank was as eloquent as always, but hopefully not too honest for his own good. It’s funny how Dana will not react to one thing we think he should and completely lose it for something else, so I guess we’ll see. Maybe Mir will get fired and rehired the next day…

Mir is an emotional guy, you can see that every time he is on camera. It would be difficult for all of us not to get frustrated if we were in his situation. Having to deal with Junie who was disrespecting everyone and everything. And Mir only seems like a prick when you compare him to Nog… who might possibly be Jesus Christ himself. Lol
by carsole on Dec 11, 2008 5:03 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Frank Mir (Murr…LOL) needs to be focusing on his upcoming fight not running your soup cooler, be mad about the antics etc,and calling out Brock. You don’t see Big Nog on the wires talking about anything.
by holmz76 on Dec 11, 2008 10:05 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
It’s all about Frank, all the time. When his fighters won, it was because they “listened” to his game plan. When they lost, it was because they didn’t listen to his game plan. The guy is so phoney and full of himself. I see through him. NOG!
by Darryl Foy on Dec 11, 2008 10:07 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
You bet your ass that the reason they won or lost was because of Frank Mir, hes FRANK MIR. Hes been doing this for a long time and he is the coach after all, and i guarantee you the guys who won or lost would tell you the same thing. He doesnt come off as a guy who is anything more than confident. He has been nothing more than complimentary of Nogueira, calling him his hero, but you get mad at him for saying he can beat Nog, what do you want him to say?? Do you want him to concede the fight. EVERY FIGHTER IS COCKY!!! Some are worse than others though and Frank is actually pretty mild compared to most, and where you just searching for any random adjective when you used the term phony??? Dont really get that one. He has never done anything but wear his heart on his sleeve and be up front about everything. You may sit there and call me a Frank Mir fan boy, but you are a Nog fan boy, and at least I like and respect Nog and dont feel the need to bad mouth him to build up my fighter.

Good job boy, way to take a blog so seriously. Get a job. And when is Mir your fighter? You’ve got some issues to deal with.
MMA101 – it’s fought and while Mir was yelling “the correct things to do” he was yelling what he would do and not what the actually fighter was to do with his own strengths.
by DF on Dec 11, 2008 8:22 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
zzzz you bore me with your lack of knowlege. If you ever faught and had a good corner you would know to LISTEN TO YOUR CORNER. If you pay close attention Mir was yelling all the correct things to do and wen his team did them they actually won the fight.
by mma101 on Dec 11, 2008 2:44 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
LOL this guy needs to see a shrink, or better yet write the name of the reality show and throw it in a river, because he obviously has issues, jesus. I’m surprised how many bloggers loved what he said, he made some valid points but came across as a raving lunatic, I couldn’t even watch the whole tape.

Man, I never used to like Mir. I always thought he was over rated. But since seeing him on the show, and mainly in interviews, my entire perspective of the man has changed. I was totally wrong. He is a true gent, an example of a stand up guy who is exactly what a true martial artist should be. An example to us all. Thanks Frank. For proving me wrong.

did frank say he has a 16 year old son? i thought mir was only 29 or 30 years old

I loled when he said something along the lines of " I understood Dana.. he wanted the guys to beat him off".. that made me think of when Dana originally said it.. now that was probably the funniest moment of the season…mainly because it was not planned or scrpited.
