UFC Quick Quote: Kevin Burns has a healthy hand and wants to hit Anthony Johnson with it

"My hand is healed and I'm really, really, really excited to use it. ou have no idea. When I fought him, I had no uppercut, no left hook, no left jab. I threw a lot of really heavy rights. He's going to be shocked when he gets hit with jab.... Unless he decides he wants to take me down, I'll stand and bang with him," said Burns. "He's said in the past that he hates the ground. If that's the case, let's see who takes who down. I'm guessing he stands with me, I press him with a crazy pace, and he starts to get tired and tries for the takedown."
-- Kevin Burns tells NBC.com that there are no more issues with his left hand, which led to a controversial result against Anthony Johnson at UFC Fight Night 14 earlier this year. "Rumble" lost to Burns via third round technical knockout in their first encounter; however, video replays of the stoppage show that Johnson was felled by an unintentional eye poke and not an uppercut. It was all because Burns had an injured paw going into the welterweight bout and had to use open hand palm strikes. The pair will run it back once and for all on the televised portion of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 8 Finale at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 13. Hopefully without incident.

I think Mr. Burns will win this one. It would be great if his nickname was “The Nuclear Power Plant”.

I hope he can make a fist.. cause if my memory is correct.. wheh was credited with the " W ".. he said to Joe.. I broke my hand 4X.. and I can’t close it.
So.. if he can close his hand.. then he is OK to fight.. if I start seeing the eye poke karate chop.. technique.. then it’s BS.. Anthony was winning that first fight.. in and out.. So let’s see.. what happens.

I am really looking forward to this fight. I think its going to be a war with Rumble taking it with the TKO in the third.

I dont even want to see a rematch! The 1st fight was so one sided that I do not believe a rematch is warranted. Basically we have to sit through a rematch of a 1 sided fight all because the referee couldnt do his job the 1st time, and because the NSAC failed to correctly switch the outcome to a DQ or NO Contest!
This just Sucks! I am a big fan of rumble and I was really looking forward to him facing a new opponent. This really Pisses me off, or as you brits say, this “Chaps my ass” lol

I think Johnson will try to hurt him this time. Last time when he cracked him a few times, burns was still there so anthony gave up on that strategy. I don’t think he’ll ever risk another fight like that. I see a huge KO in the second.

I remember Burns saying that as well. The impression I got was he had permanetly damaged his hand and could never throw jabs with closed fist. I think many people were upset by that. Either way he will probably get schooled just like he was getting in the last fight. Johnson FTW!

this dude cheated last time and admitted to throwing his fingers ‘out there’…johnson is already overrated…i hope they both lose lol

I honeslty see him laying on his back looking strait up when this is over. Not a fan of johnsons, but with the athletic commission not over turning the tko loss, I see him having something to prove

Watch him break his hand on the first punch now, Vera style.. Johnson should get the KO if Burns plan really is to stand up and trade.

I don’t care what anybody says, Burns was winning the striking game when they fought the first time, even before the eye pokes. Johnson was taking him down.

someone at home must have poked you in the eye as well during that fight.

Niiiiccceeeee! I think after two or three pokes in the eye johnsons strikes shoulda been a little off. That’s the only reason burns looked like he was winning. I hope Johnson slips in a few fingers and makes burns’ eyeball touch his frigan brain! Ok that’s a bit out of line, but I really hope Johnson wins this one after the last fight.

Brandon-I agree that Burns was doing well with the striking. I actually expected Anthony Johnson to be devastating on the feet but Burns put up a fight. My view might have been distorted due to my high expectations of Johnsons hands so I would have to watch the fight again to come to a conclusion. Regardless, Kevin Burns could stand with Johnson and submitted Roan Carneiro. That’s impressive to me.

I’m not a fan of Johnson’s attitude, but he is very talented. He was winning their first fight decisively before having his retina detached, so I hope he takes the rematch. Burns was able to take some good shots, but Johnson was way more effective with his striking.

I hope Burns knocks him out then pokes him in the eye when he’s unconscious :)

maybe Burns can get a gig in the eXtreme arm wrasslin…use his ‘bad’ for gripping or whatever it is they do and with his good hand he can poke the other guy in the eye!
IMO Rumble will tool him up good

When the first time I heard of their first fight… I hated it since I like both of the fighters.
The fight was great except for the groin hits and eyepokings, a fight between these two without such things is going to be sweet.
In their first fight I predicted Kevin Burns to win, I predicting him now aswell.

Calm down! Everything’s gonna be alright! I just received word that there will be no “eye pokings” in this bout! According to the NSAC, Burns had recently undergone the same surgery that Luke Skywalker had! Thus, his new robotic hand opens and closes just fine! And Johnson has replaced that injured eye with one similar to the Six Million Dollar Man’s! So, NO HOKIE POKIE! LOL
