Haha. I thought he was just making fun of the first guy, until I realized he was the first guy.

It’s like autistic rocky language or something.

yeah, you’re right, if anything it was a late stoppage. Pretty bad WEC event last night. I try not to be critical, but even Torres/Tapia wasn’t as competitive or exciting as I thought it would be. It amazed me that even Mir said Torres is p4p the best fighter in the world. VM, you are right again!

One last thing, faber/pulver put on a 5 round, unbelievable match, yet most of you guys aren’t looking forward to it. I’m wondering why. it doesn’t have to be all about titles! Faber, I’m sure wants to finish Jens, and Jens is thinking “hey, I went 5 rounds with this kid, why not beat him this time.” I see this fight going a lot different than the last one (pulver getting finished this time), but I’m very excited for this one!
by kevin on Dec 4, 2008 11:56 AM EST up reply actions
i’m not excited for it at all because of what you said is gonna happen. Last time it was wildly entertaining because faber made it that way. He stayed on the feet and traded. I think he can do that again, but i just see him trading for a bit then taking it to the ground and finishing it. There’s really no mystery about how it’s gonna play out. I’d rather see faber fight aldo. Someone new anyway.

What shocked me more was the fact that no-one booed Tamura-Fabianno. Sure it was a very technical grappling but i doubt most understood what went down until the arm triangle. Are fans becoming more educated or are they just pretending to claim being true fans?
by NameNotRequired on Dec 4, 2008 1:41 PM EST up reply actions
I’m kinda in between. I’m excited for them to fight again because I’m sure it will be entertaining. But I do think Faber will be reluctant to stand and trade with him as much because he won’t want to get stopped like he did against Mike Brown. I wouldn’t be surprised if he fought more strategically and tried to take him out on the ground which would be much safer for him.
by GregC on Dec 4, 2008 1:45 PM EST up reply actions
I have no desire to see this again. Jens will not beat Faber he is over the hill and gets battered around like a punching bag. Faber is on the top of his game. Pound for pound best fighters should not fight fighters who are extremely past their primes. It’s all about money. The only PPV of the UFC i didn’t purchase in the last 5 years was the Ken vs Tito rematch why, becuase Ken had no chance of winning at all! I felt I was being manipulated into thinking something else. Same reasoning here. Your thoughts?
by Robert on Dec 4, 2008 7:17 PM EST up reply actions
thats so funny. I was thinking during the fight that the ref stopped it late. He could have stopped it way earlier with out reason for complaint
by bjj1605 on Dec 5, 2008 2:30 AM EST up reply actions
slippery or not I agreed with the stoppage…I like Manny though and hope he can make it back to contention
by McArthur on Dec 4, 2008 9:31 AM EST reply actions
definately a legit stoppage…Torres is a beast.
by newfie on Dec 4, 2008 9:54 AM EST up reply actions
What the hell is there to like about Tapia. He is not very well spoken and doesn’t seem to have much class. Only a bunch of excuses. Sounds like a little punk to me. The fight was a complete mismatch and if they fought a hundred times Tapia would get destroyed in all hundred. He should send the ref a christmas card because Torres would have killed him if the fight wasn’t stopped.

+1000000
i completely agree. tapia is a fag, cant accept a lost that was clearly domination. i like to watch tapia fight b.c he is exciting but dude is whack as a person.
by phil on Dec 4, 2008 1:19 PM EST up reply actions
i think the ref.. waited too long.. if anything.
by PhilQNY on Dec 4, 2008 9:32 AM EST reply actions
John, I missed it too. Don’t know if you’ve already searched it but the full fight is up on youtube right now. By the way that stoppage was legit. No doubt about it. The only thing I like about Tapia is that his gym is 2 min from my house. Other than that I knew Torres would take this with ease. Torres is extremely talented. Very impressed.
by Volatol on Dec 4, 2008 9:57 AM EST up reply actions
definately…with some meat on those bones he could definately be a force at heavier weight classes
by McArthur on Dec 4, 2008 10:24 AM EST up reply actions
thanks man! I have been missing way too much MMA!
I have a new girlfriend and we are still in the screw all day and all night stages of the relationship, so I have been missing out on a lot!
I got catching up to do. Luckily the all day TUF Finale will air soon because I missed most of the season and I know Versus will re-air the fights so I just need to stay away from her when all this stuff re-airs
by john on Dec 4, 2008 11:17 AM EST up reply actions
Haha nice. At least you have a valid reason for missing the fights.
by Volatol on Dec 4, 2008 2:43 PM EST up reply actions
Exactly Volatol!! John, too much sex and not enough MMA is FAR, FAR better than too much of watching sweaty guys in shorts beat each up and not enough sex with hot women!
by chefdaddy on Dec 4, 2008 11:17 PM EST up reply actions
missed it too:< recorded it on my DVR but it stopped halfway through the torres fight:<
by mmanutz on Dec 4, 2008 4:52 PM EST up reply actions
same here. I NEVER remember the nights when WEC is on. I always plan to watch it and then “poof”, I completely forget. My memory is like an f’in sieve.
by chefdaddy on Dec 4, 2008 11:14 PM EST up reply actions
The ref did wait long enough. He was lying there defenseless
by Ben on Dec 4, 2008 10:50 AM EST up reply actions
It was definitely called too early if Manny T wanted brain damage. Tapia was clearly done, knocked down twice, and being pummelled without defending himself. I thought the stoppage was completely appropriate.
Agree though that Tapia is a very good fighter. Torres is just a beast.
by JTD on Dec 4, 2008 9:34 AM EST reply actions
Agreed, he would’ve been hurt bad had that fight gone any longer.
by ******** on Dec 4, 2008 10:00 AM EST up reply actions
Is it just me or does Tapia sound like a litle punk….
by Blades on Dec 4, 2008 9:36 AM EST reply actions
agreed. he got his ass handed to him and he is whining like a lil biatch.
by newfie on Dec 4, 2008 9:56 AM EST up reply actions
i think he was trying to be funny about the whole situation instead of coming off like a dick the complaining seemed to me as all sarcasm
by randy murders on Dec 4, 2008 10:13 AM EST up reply actions
I thought he took it in good spirits too, but I don’t think there’s much of a market for a 5’5 135 lbs male stripper out there lol. Stick to fighting Tapia!
by O damn he got caught on Dec 4, 2008 10:52 AM EST up reply actions
I dunno. Did you noticed the hot chicks in the front row all got up and started taking pictures of him while he was getting vaselined. They must like the bad boy image or something.
by Vic on Dec 4, 2008 12:24 PM EST up reply actions
ahahah Tapia LOL. Miguel wooped him like no other and this dude is complaining!!This was a one sided beating and miguel didnt even break a sweat. Cant wait to talk to him and hear his thoughts on the fight.
by What? on Dec 4, 2008 9:49 AM EST reply actions
Yeah there was definitely no early stoppage… Don’t get me wrong he was pretty gracious in defeat and I’m not irritated but when his feet went together before he fell thats a tell tale sign of being out. I actually was surprised they let it go that far
by sp00ner1234 on Dec 4, 2008 10:37 AM EST reply actions
Stop crying and take your beating like every other fighter who gets their ass kicked!
by PACO on Dec 4, 2008 10:51 AM EST reply actions
He and Dave Kaplan should form some kind of “I didn’t really get KTFO” support group.
by MongoMan on Dec 4, 2008 11:41 AM EST reply actions
Somebody better sit this clown down and let him watch the tape of him getting a beat down. He is not even close to being on Torres’ level. But then again who is.
by D on Dec 4, 2008 11:51 AM EST reply actions
He thought Torres was going to fight an emotional (messy) fight like last time, but Torres was on his game and overwhelmed this cat. And keep that Mexican flag out-cho hair foo.

i don’t know, i liked the interview. he’s tough, probably stupid, but tough. and he gave a good interview. good sound bytes. the part about being a stripper was original. meh, i’d tune in to watch him fight next.

In the words of the Legendary Ken “the world’s most dangerous man” Shamrock. “Tapia is a Punk”

I can’t believe the amount of excuses he gave. I can’t believe he said he didn’t lose and that he blamed the stoppage on his cut! He was totally out and disoriented, there was never time for the ref to check the cut when it was stopped. I didn’t even see the cut until after fight was called. He did have plenty of time, you’re right, it was stopped later than it probably should have but still a good stoppage. He needs to suck it up and understand losing is part of the sport.
by Cokido on Dec 4, 2008 7:04 PM EST reply actions
Hilarious. His face says the fight was stopped right on time.
by Speedy on Dec 4, 2008 11:29 PM EST reply actions
