Very enlightening Newguy, anyway I am rooting for BJ and I am a fan but this self worship is getting a little absurd…. but in the words of the great Adam((G)) BJ

BJ! BJ! BJ!
I just got word on a good lightweight fight scheduled to go down in Febuary!
Rich Clementi vs. Gleison Tibau! I got Gleison in this one!
by john on Dec 2, 2008 1:19 PM EST up reply actions
OOOO, nice John, I’ll take Rich, ever since the Anthony Johnson fight at catch weight I’ve become a Rich Fan. Didn’t really like him on TUF at all, but after he dropped down to LW I became a fan, another part of it was the beat down on Guillard; didn’t really like Melvin’s cocky attitude up to that point and Clementi came through for me. At the time wasn’t really rooting for Rich just rooting against Guillard.
by O damn he got caught on Dec 2, 2008 1:23 PM EST up reply actions
Especially if Clementi looked like he did against Maynard……
by Psyqo78®™ on Dec 2, 2008 1:25 PM EST up reply actions
Clementi wasn’t too bad against Maynard, they just neutralized eachother on the ground, it was a really technical grappling match but definatley not the most exciting fight.
by O damn he got caught on Dec 2, 2008 1:29 PM EST up reply actions
You are right, both fighters have the ability to make each other look bad…. He just didn’t look like he wanted to engage but then again everytime he did he was taken down…. neither fighter took any damage.

No Problem my Stinky Friend! I just dont like Rich since the TUF show. I do like it when he told Melvin to suck it…but liuke u said, Tibau is HUGE for a LW, and his Jits is very good and should nuetralize rich’s…. I got TibaU IN this one!

unbiased opinion, that was a cool video. I say unbiased because I’m the 2nd biggest BJ fan (adam), but truly thought it was cool. I just like his attitude (that Hawaiian care free) and his style! He will undoubtedly come in the best shape of his career, and win! I know GSP is one of the best fighters on the planet, and I do respect that, but I can’t see BJ losing this fight. He has money, fame and is the champ, he’s now fighting to cement his legacy as the best fighter ever. If it were anyone else, just fighting for a paycheck or to step up in competition, I’d give it to GSP, but this is the fight BJ Penn needs to keep his legacy going! I can already see the BJ/GSP 3 fight happening at UFC100!

Thats all BJ is to me, a crazy S.O.B without a doubt! GSP’s way of coming across is to always say the right thing (its like cards . . .) so lame!!! BJ is actually buying into his own hype. He should be training instead of screwing around on the web. Anyone see him blink during the staredown. He better hope his eye gouge is on point like last time if he hopes to lose a SD.
by NameNotRequired on Dec 2, 2008 1:21 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah I noticed that BJ was the first to blink….I was looking to see who was going to be first, that being said Penn blinks alot anyway. I know that either one of these fighters have what it takes to win… it is going to come down to who wants it more
by Psyqo78®™ on Dec 2, 2008 1:39 PM EST up reply actions
BJ had that killer look on his face. He won’t lose if he looks like that fight night. Also, who cares about a blink, BJ has as many facial ticks as Michael J. Fox. :)
by BNF on Dec 2, 2008 2:40 PM EST up reply actions
LMAO! BJ is a killer and he definitely has the killer instinct…. and that’s what I was kinda trying to get across with the “blinks alot” statement… Trust me BJ is taking this fight very, very seriously and that my friend is a dangerous thing for anyone he faces.
by Psyqo78®™ on Dec 2, 2008 4:01 PM EST up reply actions
I just get the sense that BJ is in GSP’s head. He just seems more willing to look GSP in the eyes. Picking BJ on this one.
by BobC on Dec 2, 2008 6:34 PM EST up reply actions
all these videos are of him training, so what r you talking about? He’s supposed to train 24 hours a day? he’s not Diego Sanchez, he is able to be champ and spend a half hour with his family all at once!

Are you seriously breaking down who blinked first? Wow, thats some great insight into the fight. Who cares who blinked? All that matters is who has their hand raised on the 31st, and that will be BJ BJ BJ BJ!!!!!!!

I think this video was cool! I’m not saying it because I’m a BJ fan, but because I really liked it. I don’t see a way BJ loses this fight. He’s got money, got fame and is the champ, he’s now trying to cement his legacy! I think GSP is one of the best fighters on the planet, and respect that, but BJ believes he won the first fight, and will win this one. His attitude and swagger is why some people hate him, but why I like him, he walks the line between confident and arrogant, and his swagger will help win this fight. After all the promotional stuff with GSP is donee, and the training begins, BJ will have such a mental edge, even the nipple tweaks won’t save GSP!
by kevin on Dec 2, 2008 2:17 PM EST up reply actions
This is what i like about MMA because in my mind there is no way in hell that GSP loses. BJ doesn’t have a mental edge-that’s why he needs to pump and hype himself up. GSP has improved everything by leaps and bounds while BJ improved his cardio to last a couple more rounds. I feel bad for your boy coz he’s so dead.

BJ already has that look in his eye. This is going to be crazy. Come fight night if BJ has that look, but even more intense, it is all over for GSP. Count on it. That is the look of a man holding 2 belts Jan 31st!
by BNF on Dec 2, 2008 1:10 PM EST reply actions
Or the look of a guy who needs a serious wake up call.
Guess it depends for who you cheer for…
by Jee on Dec 2, 2008 1:16 PM EST up reply actions
“a serious wake up call”
That doesn’t even make sense. BJ’s look must have made you nervous as well.
by BNF on Dec 2, 2008 1:26 PM EST up reply actions
No shame in it Jee, I got scared too lookin at that.
by O damn he got caught on Dec 2, 2008 1:48 PM EST up reply actions
What is GSP suppose to be scared of? If I’m GSP I’m telling myself that I am bigger, stronger, quicker, and a better wrestler. Our stand-up is pretty close but I’m the better kicker so I get the edge in that too. The only thing that he better at then me is his bj. Oh, and a biggie, my cardio is superior. IMO GSP just has more ways of winning this fight so I’ll pick GSP on this one.

can’t wait- GSP is gonna out work him, out strength him, and out everything him come Jan 31st GSP will be the winner!! I can’t wait, Especially since GSP always party’s at Club Opera the sunday after his fights- when he won the belt back from Serra the whole club was chanting his name it was awesome to be part of it.

by 1-0 via Arm Triangle on Dec 2, 2008 9:30 PM EST up reply actions
I was there at UFC83 and at Opera aft. I even started the GSP chants a couple of times – it was crazy! I even met Henderson there. Getting back to the point, there is no way BJ can win. He’s beaten a washed up Jens Pulver, a over-hyped Joe Stevenson (who just had his ass handed to him) and a steroid-less Sean Sherk. Not the level of competition that GSP has faced lately. GSP is bigger, stronger, faster, and more athletic. The only way BJ can win is if GSP gets poked (again), or just gets caught -which is always possible in a fight. So all you guys hugging BJ’s small nuts, be prepared to be disappointed on Jan31. Sorry to break it to you but the truth hurts.
by Caknakker on Dec 2, 2008 2:04 PM EST up reply actions
who has GSP faced lateley besides Fitch?? Since 2006 he’s fought Serra 2 times, Hughes 2 times Kos once and Fitch.. 4 of his last 6 fights are against the same two guys, how many times can you fight the same 2 ppl over and over.

by Psyqo78®™ on Dec 2, 2008 2:39 PM EST up reply actions
Really….Really,The only way BJ has a chance is by way of eye poke? And you have the nerve to call us nuthuggers? Both of these bad asses have the ability to win this fight no matter where it ends up. So to say there is no chance just destroys any of your validity in your comments.
by Psyqo78®™ on Dec 2, 2008 2:37 PM EST up reply actions
I thought GSP always partied at Club Broadway Musical…..weird!
by Psyqo78®™ on Dec 2, 2008 2:05 PM EST up reply actions
Wow, BJ looked like he was ready to fight GSP right then and there on the staredown. Good way to get his family involved. I’m taking Penn in this one, I think he’ll be the first guy we see consistantly stuff GSP take downs and keep this fight standing. If he puts GSP on his back I’ll be amazed, I think Penn keeps this fight on the feet.
by O damn he got caught on Dec 2, 2008 1:13 PM EST reply actions
If GSP uses his range and and uses alot of kicks, he can win this fight staning up too. IMO GSP doesn’t have to take Penn down to win this fight, espically early on. If it goes past 3 rounds, I think Penn will be tired and GSP will get the take-downs a lot easier.
by brac on Dec 3, 2008 11:30 AM EST up reply actions
all i can say is that this will not be a one-sided fight. I think it will go the distance with each fighter winning a couple of rounds. wouldn’t be surprised if the fight ended up in a draw. I have thought about this fight since it was made official and i keep trying to visualize how it might pan out. I think the first 3 rounds will be a standup war and then both fighters will get tired in the later rounds and the fight will be taken to the ground for the last couple of rounds. Only time will tell but this fight actually might live up to the hype. can’t wait!

by 1-0 via Arm Triangle on Dec 2, 2008 9:31 PM EST up reply actions
its gonna be interesting GSP has top notch takedowns only a matter of time before he gets penn on his back, but i don’t think it is in his best interests to put him on his back in the early rounds, he will be far to dangerous when he is full of energy. i can see the being stand up for 80% of the first 2-3 rounds then GSP will just out wrestle him in the later rounds for the win. thats if neither fighter gets caught early

Didn’t almost defend his title in a year? Was May a year ago? After he beat JoeDaddy he defended against Sherk in like a four month span. And you are right, BJ Penn was awesome when he was younger, but now BJ Penn is great. The one thing he has now is experience. He’s been in much more important fights in his career than GSP. I mean you know he made a lot less money fighting guys in other promotions like K-1. People were billing Ludwig to be the next big thing and Penn made him look silly. Penn beat two Gracies, #1 maybe #2 lightweight at the time Gomi. The Machida fight IMO was kinda crazt for BJ to do, but that’s what BJ does. He takes on the biggest challenges. Most people don’t even know how close his fight with Machida really was. BJ Penn will leave the octagon that night as both Lightweight and Welterweight champion. BJ BJ BJ!!!

He went down to 155 because he could not beat GSP and Hughes ,he goes and beats Pulver,Sherk,Stevenson, now he thinks he is all great again. The reason he does not deserve to get this fight is Anderson Silva is the #2 P4P fighter and he did not get a shot at the belt first fight in 205.Penn does not look that much improved since he fought in 170. Of course he is going to have better cardio in 155 ,but watch and see if we do not see the same ol’170 Penn,he will be out of gas by the third if he makes it that long.

Great again? He was always great. And please stop saying he will gas because that’s what everyone said when he fought Sherk and it never happend. Also Anderson Silva did not get a title shot at 205 because he thinks Machida deserves a shot at the title. Stop with these silly comments.

BJ is the worst LW champ ever….
why you ask…(glad to answer all the BJ nuthuggers)..
a TRUE champion defends thier belt several times a year, not persue ego driven fights that stagnate the rest of the division…..(talk aboot selfish)
its BJ’s attitude (how great I am) and lack of respect for the sport…(see previous answer pertaining to being a fighting champ, not a media whore Chump)
the so called ‘prodigy’ had his time, there are a plethora of fighters at 155 that would make a excellent spokesperson for the sport…
so regardless of whatever happens, I am no longer a fan of his, I’ve left his ego driven website, removed him from my top 5 fav fighters and won’t waste another dollar on him….
BJ is fast becoming the Chris ‘Y2K’ Jericho of MMA
and being someone who grew up with little and knows that material things mean nothing in life…
luxury is being able to love another, having food to eat everyday and a roof over your head….

First of all, dont bring WWF analogies here… and secondly, oyu hate him becaue he grew up with money? Thats just as bad as not liking someone because they grew up poor… you are ridiculous!!!

I can bring whatever I would like to this forum, being that the country I live is still free…..
Also having participated and watched MMA since 1991 I feel like I am entitled to my two cents pertaining to a fighters lack of sportsmanship…
As well I don’t do the word ‘hate’, its a powerful word tossed around by ignorant people, I was a fan of BJ’s for many years but his attitude and lack of class are what have turned me off as a fan as of late….
Also I never said I grew up poor..I grew up without alot of material things but rich with adventures and the love of others, big difference I would think….
As for me being ridiculous, I digress…
Waving my big foam Lesnar finger while sporting a “Hulkamania” headband and rockin the Ultimate Warriors paint….while wearing my signed Dragons Den shirt from UFC 1 (thanks Shamrock! lol)

A “true” champion fights the best competition available and that’s exactly what BJ is doing.

Does anyone see BJ KO’ing GSP? I know it’s a safer bet to think he would sub him, but GSP’s defense on the ground is great, and I’m starting to think that Penn’s best avenue to victory is to come out very aggressive in the first round (both of GSP’s losses came in the first), not let GSP settle into a riddum, and hurt him big time on his feet early. After the first fight GSP has got to be wary of Penn’s stand-up, but maybe BJ will put so much pressure on him that GSP will make an ill-advised shoot and catch a knee in the face or something.
I’m definitely picking BJ in this fight, but to his credit GSP is so good it is difficult to imagine ways that he might lose. Right now I see BJ hurting him in the stand-up, much like last time but more so, and finishing him on the ground.

another no brain BJ Penn ballsucking creep…the BJ Penn is Great meeting is down the hall….

The chance of GSP eating a knee while taking BJ down is pretty slim. GSP doesn’t telegraph his takedowns, so unless BJ just guesses when it would be a good time to throw a knee,he will be on the mat before his brain can even register “throw knee”. Serra and Fitch were both on the mat before 5 seconds ticked off the clock. Maybe BJ should throw a knee at the 4 second mark just in case GSP sticks to what worked so well in his last 2 fights. I bet Jackson will have GSP come out with a relentless pace to take BJ out of his game early and gas him.

Being that I live in a free country “Arm Bar” or whatever your BJ Penn nuthuggin name is…I will continue to post whtever I like…..
also being that I stated that I grew up without material things does not mean I grew up poor, I had plenty of love, food and place to live as well the world to enjoy my adventures in and continue to have that pleasure today…..
again I am not one to use the word ‘hate’, it is a very powerful word tossed around by people who are ignorant….
and lastly, since I have been a fan of MMA since before 1991 I shall continue to enjoy MMA while waving my big foam Lesnar Finger and “Hulkamania” headband while sporting the Ultimate Warrior paint….oh yea and I will be wearing my signed Dragons Den shirt (thanks Shamrock..lol)
So keep hating on anyone that does not love BJ, he was a fav of mine for the last ten years but his antics and lack of sportsmanship as well as NOT BEING A FIGHTING CHAMP! have turned me off as a fan
Enjoy yourself Armbar vers 1.0

I see BJ Winning this fight. I think he will weigh in at around 165-167, in 155 shape, just without cutting the weight. I also predict BJ peppers GSP with his jab, while stuffing his takedowns, and landing combo’s when GSP opens up.

Man are there ever a lot of repeat comments on this page, whats up with that? I’ve been on this site for over two years now and will continue to use my screen name nathan whether gsp wins or loses, all I know is theres going to be plenty of embarrassed fans of each fighter after this fight, bj’s fans seem to be the most loyal and vocal at least on this page, going by facebook or ufc.com you would think there would be more gsp fans. I’ve learned my lesson a long time ago about being super vocal about whos going to win and after the gsp/serra 1 fight I felt pretty stupid. Before the gsp vs serra 2 there was someone on here called longislandguy he disappeared after gsp/serra 2 along with a bunch of other guys that I can’t remember there names. I remember on this radio show this guy was bashing gsp saying serra was a bad match for him and if gsp fought serra 10 times serra would beat gsp ten times and then gsp/serra 2 happens LOL what a dumb ass. Nobody knows whats going to happen in this fight and nobody knows whos going to win this fight, period. My favorite fighter in oct 2007 was matt hughes and after gsp destroyed him I was bothered by it but eventually became a gsp fan. Then serra destroys gsp but I still didn’t like serra and felt gsp would kick his ass in a rematch. When someone says something like I know gsp/penn will destroy gsp/penn there a fool, if they say something like “lokie” above saying I see bj winning this fight he doesn’t look like a moron if bj loses. Some guys on this site have blabbed so much about either of there guys I seriously wonder if there favorite loses they’ll come back here or will change there screen names. Mine won’t change regardless, I just hope the fight lives up to the hype and isn’t controversial again or with someone getting hurt, ribs, eye poke broken nose etc etc.
