No Cop: Overeem vs Filipovic fails to materialize for Fields Dynamite

Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic will not get a chance to avenge his white scrotus on New Year's Eve against bitter rival Alistaire Overeem according to Fields Dynamite executive Sadaharu Tanigawa via Free Fight Videos .
At a press conference earlier this week, Tanigawa pushed them to a different card to be held at some point down the road in 2009. The two were originally expected to rematch on December 31 to settle a previous No Contest from their bout at September’s DREAM 6.
"Demolition Man" delivered several illegal groin strikes during the bout, providing a disappointing conclusion to a fight that had received much interest and fanfare leading up to it.
Cro Cop promised to deliver a rematch on December 31 but according to Overeem, the Croat never put his money where his sack is.
Here's the Dutchman talking to Sherdog.com
"I’m afraid Mirko is trying to run from me again. FEG wants to make it happen, I would like nothing more than get my hands on him again and I know that the fans would like to see a definite ending as well, so the only obstacle here is Cro Cop. He’s the one who hasn’t signed the contract yet and he’s the one who is trying to avoid fighting me again because he knows that he will get his ass kicked again. I won’t use any knee strikes to the body this time, so he won’t have any chance to wimp out of the fight again."
Overeem has looked solid of late, winning four straight consecutive bouts and — before smashing his balls — was putting it to Mirko Cro Cop at DREAM 6 in September. Overeem has been in against some of the best in the business throughout his career and is still in his prime.
Cro Cop vehemently denies any act of cowardice and finally shot back at Overeem yesterday on his native Dnevnik.hr:
"Overeem is a fool. He knows too well that is up to the individual organizations to set-up any match-ups. I’m in a difficult situation as I don’t know who to prepare for in this upcoming bout. I’m not sure with which sparing partners to go with. I don’t want the public to think that I’m afraid of him, if Overeem doesn’t want to wait for New year’s eve or some other date next year to fight me. If he doesn’t believe I don’t get to choose my opponent and that maybe Dream doesn’t want us to fight on New year then he can come to Zagreb next weekend and we can fight in my cage with neutral referees."
Overeem is still expected to battle at Fields Dynamite toward the end of the year. One of the names being thrown around is dangerous Russian striker Sergei Khratitonov.
Now that's a rubber match I'm interested in seeing.

Sad business. I am cro cop supporter but even i don’t buy this. I don’t think he’ll ever return to his former self.

I’m starting to think that too. It seems like the brutal strikers tend to slow down earlier in their careers.

I could care less if they ever fight again or not. I am sick of these 2 and there Saga. Why is Alistar chasing around a broken fighter like cro cop? Alistar wants to act all big and bad…he should fight someone that is at the very least mentally ready to fight, cro cop isnt that!
I would prefer them booking Alistar vs. Sergei 2

that would be Alistar vs Sergei 3.. Sergei won the 2nd fight but Alistar is the better fighter and would win easily if he ever fought a smart fight and clinched up with Sergei cause he dominated the clinch and is much stronger and faster than Sergei.. as for Cro cop we all know that the Gonzaga KO was just too much and then they matched him up with Kongo after that so he never really got the chance to come back mentally, and his career is over now..

Overeem Vs Sergei will not happen because they are fighting both for GOLDEN GLORY now…. Alaister trains with Sergei.

Yes, earlier this year — in June, in fact — Overeem fought a guy with 1-1 record. Guess what? Overeem won! Unbelievable, I know.

That is bullshit. Cro cop said for croatian TV that Overeem is ASSHOLE because he talking this shit. Cro cop said that he waiting for FEG’s decision.

I would love to watch Fedor knock him out. Overeem is scared of Fedor though so that will never happen. Overeem knows Fedor would humiliate him in the ring if he called him out.
Remember when Chuck KOd him

yea, but Overeem seems to be in his prime right now and would definitely be a good signing for the UFC.. talking shit is good and he gets his name out there which is what he needs for anyone to care!

I know why wouldn’t he be after defeating Lee Tae-Hyun in June, who has a record of 1-2 now. Thats less than 6 months ago

Or wait, even better he beat 42 year old Gary Goodridge, who has lost his last 4 MMA bouts, and his last 9 kickboxing bouts.

If you can’t stop nailing your opponent in the dick so many times that you lose the fight you can’t call yourself a good fighter.
