-- SI.com, which incorrectly states that Elite XCs Kimbo Slice was fighting for a title, nominates the Miami street brawler for a "2008 Turkey of the Year." Slice was pimped front and center by the now defunct organization because of his YouTube.com exploits. And when he went down against Seth Petruzelli in just 14 seconds back in October he ultimately took down the whole promotion -- the "StandGate" controversy surrounding the main event was essentially its death knell. Ocho Cinco, Al Davis, Mark Cuban, Roger Clemens and Jeremy Shockey are some of the other athletes who made the 23-member list.

I don’t know how that got thru. 24 hours later, still in moderation. but the more i complain, the lamer my post will look, kinda like I built it up too much. summation to that post:Turkey of the year should go to Sports Illustrated b/c they couldn’t get the story correct, didn’t know the background to the story and they looked like they simply jumped aboard the hate bandwagon, much like ESPN jumped on the regular Kimbo bandwagon. Hmmmmm…..maybe ESPN should get the turkey for that previous reason and the fact that they are missing the boat on MMA; a popular/growing sport whether they want to admit it or not.

Yeah I am surprised that they did not pick Elite VC over him trying to cashin on the MMA Gravy Train. HE was obviously just taking on he opportuity of a lifetime, and honestly there is not one person out there from his background that would not take the ride. People beg for their 15 minutes of fame, this guy guy 30, hoperfully we do not have to deal with the reruns or any more claims of his massiive reurn to mma without another solid year of training.

EliteXC PAID Seth Petruzelli to stand with him, because they know Kevin Ferguson is worthless as a real MMA fighter. “Kimbo” is a talentless testament to how stupid and ignorant the vast majority of american sports fans are. Put a big black guy named Kimbo in the cage and watch him KO worthless, washed up old fighters, all the while touting him as the best fighter to walk the earth today. He is popular and commands big dollar fights for what reason? The guy sucks. EliteXC sucked for promoting anbd paying such a loser. He was spoon-fed cans, with a SILVER spoon I might add, and finally got KO’d by a jab while his opponent was moving backwards. Its a disgrace that this guy got paid what he did. Its a disgrace that so many people actually think he’s any good. Its a disgrace that I’m even here typing a comment about such an individual. The only reason I would ever pay to watch this guy fight is so I could see him get KO’d or have his arm ripped off by someone with an ounce of ground skill.
