Fields Dynamite!!: Gegard Mousasi vs Musashi

Gegard Mousasi (24-2-1), winner of DREAM's 2008 Middleweight World Grand Prix, has officially signed to face four-time K-1 Japan Grand Prix Champion, Musashi (49-28-5-1), in a K-1 rules match at the Fields Dynamite!! supershow on December 31 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Mousasi won the DREAM Middleweight Grand Prix with a stunning first round knockout of Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza back in September. He reached the finals after submitting the dangerous K-1 striker Melvin Manhoef in the first round of the semifinals.

The "Young Vagabond" is an extremely talented fighter and in addition to riding an eleven-fight win streak, is also a former amateur boxing champion and has served as a striking coach for current WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko.

He'll have his hands full however against the Japanese warrior. Musashi is a former WAKO Heavyweight Muay Thai Champion and two-time K-1 World Grand Prix finalist. He last appeared at K-1 Fields World GP 2008 and dropped a disappointing decision to Brazil's Ewerton Teixeira.

Musashi has a staggering 83 fights under his belt and isn't going to be intimidated by Mousasi. Don't expect this one to go to a decision.

Fields Dynamite!! is the New Year's Eve supershow featuring a smorgasbord of fighters under the umbrella of Fighting & Entertainment Group (FEG) coming together on one night to try and kick the crap out of each other.

Featuring participants from DREAM, K-1, K-1 MAX and K-1 Koshien, Fields Dynamite!! is going to have a wide variety of fighting styles and compelling match-ups, and could feature as many as twenty fights.

Stay tuned as this massive card continues to come together.

Wow! This is going to be a good one! Thats why I like Japanese mme…they arent afraid to throw in a k-1 style match up from time to time, like Pride did with Cro Cop.

Tough on to call, but I am a big fan of the armenian so I will roll with him

Mousashi probly wins IMO via experience in the big stage. Kawajiri is also doing K-1 and i think he will lose. I don’t know why they are putting him there seeing how his striking isn’t high level even by MMA standards.

yeah, i dont get why Kawajiri is fighting Takeda in K-1. Like u said, his striking is no where near K-1 level. I cant picture Tatsuya Kawajirir fighting without shooting for takedowns. WEIRD!!!

THE RETURN OF SAKURABA!!!!!

Pameric, you may not have noticed, but nobody plays the “I am first to post” game anymore. I think people realised how immature and sad it was. Try and get out a bit more or try getting a girlfriend if you are old enough to.

I’ll take Mousasi. I wish this guy would end up in the UFC somehow.

I do to Mex, but I doubt it will happen. He trains and is Managed by Fedor’s camp who as you know dont exactly hav ethe best relationship with the UFC.

I owuld like to see a rematch between Mousasi and Jacre down the road.

Fields Dynamite? I wonder what genius came up with that name.

I think FieLDS are just a sponsor who pay good money for their name to be put in the title and as for ‘Dynamite’ not the most creative name i’ll give you that but they’ve been using it for the NYE events for a good few years now so it’s a notorious name in Japan, no point changing it.

Also this is only 1 month away and there’s only 2 mma fights confirmed? Loads of big names have been thrown around these past few months for this event lets hope we here of some more great match ups soon.

Mousasi will get knocked out!!!!

I don’t like Musashi but he is by far the superior striker

I heard Mousasi will be competing in Abou Dabi grappling tournament next year. So I guess he’s going to take a fight with only striking involved and then next tournament take a fight with no striking and complete grappling. I like to see him do good in both tournaments and end up in the UFC one day.
