Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva disregards CSAC suspension and will fight Yoshihiro Nakao at Sengoku

The year-long suspension handed down to the first and only Elite XC Heavyweight Champion, Antonio Silva (11-1), following his positive steroid test in July apparently won't keep the Brazilian giant from competing after all.
The Japanese promotion World Victory Road has signed "Bigfoot" to compete on its next Sengoku event scheduled to take place at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on January 4. Yoshihiro Nakao (7-1) -- the man who Heath Herring infamously knocked out before their fight even started after getting kissed -- has been confirmed as his opponent.
As of right now Silva is eligible to re-apply for a license to fight in the United States in July of 2009, but taking a fight in another country that doesn't recognize the suspension is not going to look good on that application. In fact, he could face an uphill battle in the future with this move.
Time will tell.
Silva is undefeated as a heavyweight with wins over Wesley "Cabbage" Correira, Jonathan Wiezorek, Ricco Rodriquez and Justin Eilers under the Elite XC banner.
Nakao is probably best known for his "fight" against Heath Herring at a K-1 event on New Year's Eve in 2005. The bout was ruled a no contest when Herring struck and knocked out the Japanese fighter during the pre-fight staredown after a bizarre attempt at intimidation from Nakao turned into a straight up kiss on the lips.
In Herring's defense, there's probably a lot of fighters out there who would have done the same thing. Nonetheless, Nakao will always be known as "the guy that kissed Heath Herring and got knocked out before the fight even began."
It was extremely weird to say the least.
Since that time Nakao has compiled a record of (3-1), including his most recent second round knockout of Jim York at another Sengoku event in May. He holds notable career wins over Don "The Master" Frye and Cabbage Correira.
Former Pride FC Lightweight Champion Takanori Gomi will face off against Satoru Kitaoka for the vacant World Victory Road title in the night's featured bout. In addition, Strikeforce fighter Kazuo Misaki will battle three fight UFC veteran Jorge Santiago for the company's vacant middleweight strap.

I hope this guy isn’t a dissapointment, worldwide we need exciting and talented heavyweights.
the little that i did see from big foot showed that he definitely has the potential.
now that we are on the HW topic. Demolition man calling out Brock? Overeem needs to stop talking so much and just continue doing what your doing. I FEEL THERE IS MUCH TO PROVE FOR THE DUTCHMEN.

Wow, you guys are up late. I loved that Nakao fight. Um…I mean no contest. Anyway, interesting to see silva disregard the suspension. Is there a precedent that would allow him to fight in the states again, or will the commission be extra angry? Does anyone know what the results of this might be?

they probably will suspend him for an extra year, and if he disregards the suspension again ban for life
but id tell him to fuckoff hes not as talented as people think and would make one hell of a statement about “disregard our rules and you disregard your own career” kinda situation

I say good for him, fuck the CSAC. If they don’t wanna play by the rules why should he. Also now that garcia is out, he probly won’t have any problems coming back. Vitor did the same thing.

Chef, there is a precedent for this type of thing. Vitor was suspended for roids in America but he disregarded the suspension and went on to fight in England. He was supposed to be suspended in the USA even longer because he went on and fought, but he got around it and fought for Affliction anyway.
The athletic comission will huff and puff, but in the end they wont do anything. Big Foot will be fine.
As for the skill of big foot: He is a huge and very skilled guy. I would love to see him fight in Japan:
Barnett
Arlovski
Fedor
Alistar
Sergie
Werdum
Cro Cop
Grim
Aleks vs. Bigfoot wouold be bad ass!
All great match ups awaiting the big man outside of the states

Vitor Belfort was suspended for testing positive for a banned substance after the first Pride show in Vegas. Then went and fought in England for Cage Rage now he’s back fighting in the U.S
for Affliction. So I’m not really sure how it works.

Why wouldn’t Bigfoot go fight in Japan? He can get away with taking steroids there.

This is so crazy, he has Gigantism! He tested positive because of his disorder. Any other profession this would be considered discrimination against the handicapped. A good lawyer would be able to get him millions in a lawsuit.

“handicapped”? I wouldnt call him “handi” but I agree it would be some form of descrimination

I take it you know nothing about Boldenone. You should make an attempt to educate yourself before you make such laughable comments.

EazyE, only in a America could a skilled lawyer with corrupt morals win millions in a bad legal system. lol. HEY, British Maniacs…..question for you guys. A friend told me that on your side of the pond a lawyer (barister, sorry)CANNOT bring a frivolous suit or they risk having their license taken away. Is this true? if so, that’s f’in brilliant and our brainless lawmakers should take note.

War Bigfoot, imo. I admire the cajones required to do what needs to be done and say “Fuck the CSAC” to boot. What’ll really be great is if he comes back even before the suspension is up and some Nevada or Ohio allows him to compete.

At the top of Heath Herring’s highlight reel…..

It’s pretty funny how peoples hate for the CSAC seems to blind them to the fact that a steroid used for veterinary purposes was found in his system. The guy is overrated anyway. He couldn’t even finish a fat, washed-up Ricco Rodriguez.

..and clean urine I guess at that time.

Ricco Rodriguez is hardly washed up.He’s in much better shape than 2 years ago not as good as when he was UFC champion however, but the guy still has a skilled submission game for a big heavyweight. He could easily beat a lot of higher profile heavyweights out there.

acromegally is a pituitary gland disorder caused by a invasive tumor isn’t it. why would he test positive for steroids because of his disorder? based on his decision to disregard the csac, i would venture to say that he is dumb enough to take steroids even if it put him at risk of getting cancer again. he obviously doesn’t value his life or his career.
