MMA Quick Quote: Fedor cancels press tour to prepare for 'dangerous' Arlovski

"My trainers, Vladimir Voronov and Alexander Michkov, met with me in Russia after the World Sambo Championships and we decided that the Arlovski confrontation is too important to delay a comprehensive training camp in exchange for press tour obligations on the other side of the world. Andrei Arlovski is a dangerous fighter and has looked in prime condition and at the top of his game in his last few fights. He is one of the top three heavyweights in the world. This is not a fighter I will defeat if I am taking shortcuts in training."

-Current WAMMA heavyweight champion and Affliction headliner Fedor Emelianenko speaks in a press release about his planned absence from a scheduled press tour to the United States at the start of December with stops set for New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles to promote his Janaury 24 superfight with former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski at Affliction 'Day of Reckoning'. The decision comes on the heels of Emelianenko's recent loss at the 2008 World Sambo Championships - a tournamnet that "The Last Emperor" only trained for part-time to accomodate for his busy media schedule and movie commitments.

This is great news, and I for one am very happy that Fedor came out to say this! Of course I (who knows nothing) was the one who said he had cut corners (movies) and thats why he lost in sambo! He’s obviously pissed at himself, and unfortunately, AA is in trouble now!
John, what comment was bad towards me, I couldn’t find it!? what did it say! james, thanks for talking me out of betting texas! (that’s a joke)! went 5-1 yesterday guys 12-4 for the week!

Arlovski is going to crap his pants when he sees Fedor standing across the ring from him. Only chance Arlovsk i has of lasting in this fight is to dance around a lot with his footwork!

Regardless, Fedor is going to outclass arlovski

What is going on today with all these crazy posts?
Well, I was hoping Fedor would not refocus, but now AA has an extremely tough fight ahead of him, this will be good.

wow, I’m literally laughing right now! I haven’t owned my own business in years, and evry regular (that I give a shit about) knows where I work! I’m not rich (six figures is comfortable though), and as I stated before, I would NEVE pay to go to a UFC event! Sorry that I’m from same area as stinky and mentioned it 3 or 4 times to him…sue me! As far as my wife goes, she’s laughing at the maid comment! She supervises 3 pharmacies for the government…a tad bit more important than an illegal making bed at the best western! Nice try though! As far a business sense, you’re maybe right, but I seem to be doing something right in life! now move along son, I here your mom yelling and she wants her room cleaned…call my wife! lol
.
To all you regulars that defended me, thanks! I appreciate it, but it’s unnecessary! Thanks for brining it to my attention John!

That’s pretty funny how you thanked and insulted all the people that defended you in the same sentence. Next time, post in bullet form how great and modest you are. Save everybody the time.

by starchfart on Nov 29, 2008 12:22 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Don’t be dense. There was no insult there. He thanked people for taking up for him but ……
1. He’s a big boy and can take care of himself
2. I think you are ozzy with a different name
3. HEY MANIA, could you make people take an IQ test before allowing them to post? I realize you’d only have 25-30 people on the site then, but the level of conversation would go up proportionatly to the decrease in personal attacks/d*mb comments.

That quote is getting me all hot and bothered! I’m way more excited about this match-up than any other this year. This fight is for the purists who know that a “game” Arlovski is one of the few Heavies that can beat Fedor. On a serious note though, it would be crazy if Fedor came into the fight with a six-pack. AA would sh*t his shorts.

If he beats AA, then Barnett(if he gets past Alecks)and if the Randy can never happen, he should get in shape and drop to LHW and clean that out too.

Plain silly. He is being respectful to the extreme to AA and still you find a reason to bash him. By announcing this, there can be NO excuse if he loses. But if he takes out AA quickly, what will you say then? Care to bet names with me?

by chefdaddy on Nov 28, 2008 11:38 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I agree. Despite all the reported crazy demands that his managment makes, Fedor is class. The guy is always humble and never seems to say a bad thing about anyone. I dont think there is a chance in hell Arlovski wins, even if Fedor did take a press tour. Arlovski, as brief as it was, initially had trouble against Roy Nelson, and might have been kimura’d if the ref didnt stand them up. There’s no way to even compare the two. Fedor is just throwing the guy a major bone.

by the_mexicutioner on Nov 28, 2008 12:09 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Nelson was puttin on a clinic on AA’s ass. Arlovski just looked paralyzed. He wasn’t even trying to get it back to half guard. Fedor is gonna put him down and sub him.

if that fat fuck was able to get a.a. down into side control i can see fedor doing it with ease but i think fedor could win the standup as well. Every aspect of this fight i see fedor winning the only way a.a. wins is if he uses his reach and height to stick and move and land a right hand from the outside. Christ if Sylvia lasted 30 seconds how long do really think that a.a. can last.

by scott on Nov 28, 2008 2:42 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yes. everyone talks about fedor’s 36 second submission over sylvia like it was something that andrei could never do… he did it first (in 47 seconds)! andrei has never been submitted and nelson didn’t take andrei down, but rather andrei went for the trip but bounced off of nelson’s gigantic gut when he got him down and then nelson just laid there. andrei was never in trouble.

by ActionJackson on Nov 28, 2008 9:04 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

all i can tell you , is aa may have better boxing, but fedor has the faster, more powerfull hands. HE WILL just come over the top with his punches, and once aa gets hit, it will be a shock to his system. he will be in survival mode, and once fedor closes the distance, gety him down and puts him on his back its all over. Only chance aa has is stick and move, but it wont work, fedor is cat quick, and can get inside eaisly where his dirty boxing, or clinch and gewt aa down. AA has nowhere near the power in his hands of a mark hunt or others to keep fedor at bay. Its going to be ugly

by dt on Nov 28, 2008 10:08 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

that would be a good guess if arlovski went in completely unprepared and didn’t know fedor from joe. this is the biggest fight of his career and he will do everything to avoid those wild, powerful flailing punches. arlovski ko via evasive footwork + uppercut.

by ActionJackson on Nov 29, 2008 1:06 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

ActionJackson:that was the poorest fight analysis and prediction that I’ve seen in a while. Just say you don’t like Fedor and thus have trouble looking at this fight from a rational point of view. Thanks for the laugh.

by chefdaddy on Nov 29, 2008 11:13 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

fedor’s a badass and i love watching him fight but i truly believe andrei will win this fight. but you’re right, everyone else’s analysis is a lot better. “uhh…. fedor by whatever he wants.” yeah, you guys are really thinking outside the box on that one. also, if you’re going to criticize something i say, you should give a little bit more than “that was the poorest fight analysis and prediction that i’ve seen in a while.” back it up with some rationale of your own, son.

by ActionJackson on Nov 29, 2008 1:57 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

In regards to dt’s post. Fedor doesn’t hit as hard as AA. Watch how many guys AA dropped with 1 punch and how many Fedor has. AA dropped Timmy twice with 1 punch and how many times did fedor hit him before he went down? AA also TKOed Cruz sitting down. If Fedor thinks he can stand with AA it will be a short night for him. Fedor is to smart to think that though and he will be trying to submit him.
