Happy Thanksgiving 2008 from MMAmania.com

Happy Thanksgiving to all our readers ... and thank you for reading and helping make this site what it is today.
Enjoy the day and get fat.
For those who want to hang out around here this will be an open thread, which means you can post, discuss, break news and do essentially whatever the hell you want (within reason) in the comments section.
Have fun, maniacs. And thanks again!

Happy THanksgiving Maniacs! This is truly the top site on the net! Fort he most part we all try to respect each others opinions while debating topics and sharing knowledge. I learn a lot from many of you guys, and RESPECT you all for it! Enjoy your holiday boys! cheers!
By the way, I wouldnt be me if I didnt break a story:
Barnett is not fighting Grim Rogers. Bout agreements have been signed and Barnett will be fighting Aleksander Emelienenko at Affliction 2. Barnett is one of Afflictions biggest attractions so they wouldn’t book this fight if there was a chance that Aleks wouldnt be allowed to fight in the USA. This leads me to believe that Aleks will be cleared to fight in America which is AMAZING news! This is going to be a WAR guys, ENJOY!!!!

If thats true John….phew the long awaited rematch is on!
I so hope this is for real as Aleks deserves a bit of spotlight. We just need Kharitonov to get involved and we’ve got the Russian spetsnaz back at war!

yea man! it would be great to see Aleks back in action fighting top level guys in the USA.
i absolutely Love Sergei as a fighter. tHe guy is just a stoic bad ass! I wouldnt mind seeing Sergei vs. Werdum!

Allistar Overeem says he would beat Brock and although he is happy at strikeforce and DReAM, eventually he will come to the UFC!
by john on Nov 28, 2008 8:39 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I’m disliking Overeem more each time he opens his mouth.

Hey guys, I also just want to thank all the troops out there for allowing me and my family, as well as all the mmamaniacs out here the ability to blog on a dumb site and mess around all day! I really appreciate your sacrafice for our fine country!

Support the troops, not the war! By thanking the troops for allowing to let you live your life, you’re implying that we’re involved in a just war and that’s simply not the case. Your way of life has never been in any danger.

to you as well my friend. I’m still full and it’s 1 in the a.m. My oldest can’t sleep so we’re goofing off and watching saturday night live reruns and eating VAST amounts of leftover mac ’n cheese. Can we say hit the gym tomorrow? lol

HEY JONO, I let it slide yesterday b/c it was a holiday. And I’m not going to blast you or call you out near as harshly for such an ignorant statement as I normally would. Hopefully some of our countrymen/women in the service are on here today, and I’ll leave you to them. I will start by saying you are either the least intelligent American I know or you’re not from the U.S.A. (by the way that does NOT imply anything for people not from here except that they might not know how/why most Americans are thankful for our armed forces personnel.) To thank troops for our freedoms and the ability to live our lives as we choose IN NO WAY WHATSOEVER says anything about the war, you f’in dipsh*t. We thank our troops b/c we NEED them. They are there, whether there is trouble at the door or not, to defend our freedoms. Freedoms to do great, great things OR the freedom to make poor decisions (the point is having that choice is an amazing freedom). It is a symbiotic relationship, both sides exist for the benefit of the other. We NEED them, standing at the door, on the wall, here or abroad, in CASE they are called upon to lay down their lives for their country to maintain those freedoms. For their decision to put our lives before theirs, to say that people they don’t know’s freedoms/rights are more important in the grand scheme of things than their own lives, is why they are deserving of our thanks. Honestly, I’m going to stop now. But if I met you, I’d enjoy knockin’ you in the head once. Or twice.

You to bro. Hey, any idea yet on that breaking news we were supposed to hear?
by chefdaddy on Nov 28, 2008 1:10 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, that little “tease” kinda got lost in the mix didn’t it. Hmmmmm…
Interesting to hear that Aleks thinks he’s fighting Barnett. I will believe it when I see it. Although with the overhaul going on in California (since the departure of Garcia), maybe Aleks was on the right side off the whole sketchy “paperwork issues” debacle all along. That said, I’ll believe it when I see it. And While not as big, a fight between Barnett and Rogers would be pretty interesting.
Enjoy the workout today Chef.

Man, is having a distended stomach considered a serious medical condition? Cuz I ate til I thought I was going to die. We had 30+ people at my brother in law’s and all groups brought a dish. Everything was starch, which I love. But you would have thought SOMEONE would have been assigned an F’in vegetable. It was fried turkey, cajun style, stuffing, mashed potatoes, oyster casserole, mac ‘n cheese, sweet potato casserole with pecans, a sweet potato casserole w/o pecans, stuffed potatoes, broccoli ( in casserole form, lol), Smithfield ham, gravy, etc. I’m not even going to get into desserts. BUT, I weighed myself before and after (and I know scales aren’t super accurate, I HOPE not anyway) and it said I put on almost 10 pounds! Let’s pray that it’s just fluctuating.

Have a comment here, who else here thinks that Machida (being the best 205) will be get cut from the Ufc if he loses like 2 fights in a row?? only reason why i say taht is cuz nobody likes him as a fighter (his style atleast) even though its extremely effective, and they call him boring so i have a feeling that if he can’t get passed silva- and another top fight he’ll be cut too.
by Ricky on Nov 27, 2008 9:43 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I’d rather eat that than turkey any day!

Very nice rump. Did anyone know the first thanksgiving in America was in North Carolina on July 4th 1584? Yep Captains Phillip Amadas and Arthur Barlow were the first Englishmen to set foot in America. They met chief Granganimeo who hosted them to a feast on Croatoan or Hatteras Island.
