Mauricio Shogun Rua video training for Mark Coleman UFC 93 fight
Good to see him back in good health:
... or not if this is indeed old footage as some suggest.

I’m not sold on Rua yet…I have watched every fight I could find but I just don’t know if he can win in the cage…he’s too small
by McArthur on Nov 26, 2008 9:28 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
well small enough tu KO’ed rampage, Alistair Overeem(twice), Arona, beat lil Nog and submit Kevin Randleman, i have a feeling that shogun is BACK
WAR SHOGUN!!!

I hope to god the old Shogun shows up to show the American audience what he is all about…Rua is no doubt a top 5 Lightheavy in the world, and he seems to not get the credit he deserves on account of one bad performance..
War Shogun!
He is fighting a rusty old Hammer that he already has beef with, so im thinking that, along with the fact he had a bad debut into the UFC, he will surely come in ready to dump a body!!

he’ll beat coleman but thats about it…
205 is so stacked and i see him and coleman gasing out in the 2nd. coleman losing via rear naked choke in the late 2nd

Stager: NO Doubt that Shogun is one of trhe best LHW’s on this planet! The kid is a MONSTER…Everyone bashes him for his performance against Forrest…Fighting with a torn ACL is not the smartest thing to do, but I respect his HEART and Guts! MOst fighters would have pulled out of the fight, but Shogun being the warrior that he is, fought anyway, and gave Forrest some problems until the second half of the fight. He was so anxious to make his UFC debut that he fought anyway.
Coleman is in serious trouble, I can tell you that!
Who is the idiot that said he isnt sold on Rua and that he is too small? Shogun is a pretty big LHW… Forrest is HUGE but he didnt Dwarf Shogun. LHW is the perfect weight class for Shogun. Standing up, Shogun is a MONSTER and I dont think there is any LHW as good as him on the ground.
If you dont know, you will find out soon! War Shogun!

His knee looks on point. He didn’t seem to favor one over the other even during the sprawls. I hope he’s got a good cardio guy to work with. He should borrow Alejarra from Wand because he wasn’t having major problem with forrest until he gassed. Coleman, you’re so dead – War Shogun!!

yeah one thing you definitely dont want to receive are those knees! coleman better avoid those or hes done

Coleman better avoid the octagon or hes done.

thats exactly what i think, hes definatly gonna be a much smaller fighter up next to coleman. i know he’s talented but, if he fights the way he did against forrest, hes gonna lose. coleman is known to be pretty one dimensional but he does have plenty of experience. i’ll be rooting for rua, but i do have my doubts. and he should definatly be training in a cage. a cage compared to a ring is like night and day.

KEVIN: i know you’ll see this eventually, i saw the comment that guy wrote about p-town. either he has a dry sense of humor, didnt know what the f he was talking about, or he’s a pickle puffer for sure! that was funny sh*t!

who knows, but it’s not my thing that’s for sure!

he looks fat and sluggish in this trainning vid…..why not practice in a cage and I agree he looked tiny against Forrest…..Shogun vs Rua at 185?
by Robert on Nov 26, 2008 1:51 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
he thinks for his next fight they should make a robot of rua and have him fight himself to show the fans a perfect shogun fight

People have to get rid of this notion if someone loses they have to drop to another weight class. It’s crazy, but what would be crazier would be to see Shogun vs. Rua. What the fuck does that mean? Are you talking about a Shamrock brothers situation here?
by Robert on Nov 26, 2008 5:14 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Lets hope this is old footage because he is training in a ring. I’m not sure if he can win in a cage if he is going to train in a ring. Cro Cop had that problem too.

Luckily Coleman isn’t known for good cardio, but being that their this far out from the fight, I’d say Rua looks pretty good, no telling if this is 5 minutes at the end of a 6 hr day or when they filmed this; so I guess I can’t say that his cardio looks bad. Nice sprawl, nice flying knees.
by O damn he got caught on Nov 26, 2008 9:32 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
yeah rua looks gased at the start of the thing and he looks just as fat as he was fighting griffin i knew he would lose then, however lucky for him hes fighting a guy who is a hundred years old lol

Especially training for Coleman putting him up against the cage. Granted, maybe he doesn’t want to tell Coleman and the world exactly what he is doing.

joecool — Yup, you’re right man! Old footage. 2006, training for his first fight against Coleman.

My prediction for this fight is that Coleman will gas during the pre-fight interview.

Opens cage and all the UFC nuthuggers come out and bash pride fighters

I hope Rua can get it together. He was, to me, the biggest dissapointment among the fighters that came fvrom Pride. Bigger even than Cro-cop. Cro-cop was always a spectacle, but Rua’s fights were ruthless. I hope he has his health back.

Rua was number one at LH not too long ago. Then he lost to the current number one guy in Forrest. I’ve been a bit surprised at how far he seems to have dropped in the minds of fans and journalists; Sherdog dropped him pretty far in their rankings, and fans talk as if he’s coming off a three-fight losing streak.
by Tyler on Nov 26, 2008 3:28 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
He looks fairly slow right here. That scares me but i know he’ll beat Coleman.
by Chris on Nov 26, 2008 3:43 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
rua looks slow and tired. sort of like he did in the forrest fight. dude better pick up some cardio along the way. if he looses to coleman he would be unmarketable

This recording is from way back when he trained for Pride, so don’t know who put this out as him training for Mark Coleman in January 2009…
