What should we take from this fight? Is "Sasha" calm and calculating? Or slow and sloppy?

Aleks looked better here than Fedor’s ever looked. He’s easily the better of the two brothers…for a commie.

by prophet on Nov 25, 2008 1:00 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

good comment buddy!!.. Fedor is clearly the best HW out their, he’s quick for his size and prolly has one of the hardest punches in MMA- Alex just looked sloppy but ive always been a big fan of his. He’ll never be as good as Fedor but it would be cool to see him come to the UFC i can see him posing a seriouse threat to the HW division in the UFC.. does anyone know if Alex has ever faught big nog??

by ricky on Nov 25, 2008 1:34 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

He never gets cleared to fight in america, but I don’t know why

by Ro-J on Nov 25, 2008 7:48 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

It’s the Hep (or HIV). He’ll never fight here and our medical privacy laws prohibit the state athletic commissions from disclosing why. There isn’t any other logical reason.

by BobC on Nov 25, 2008 9:35 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

It is neither Hep or HIV, its because he has ties to the russian mofia and organizeds crime from back in the day, its a pretty known thing

by Chris on Nov 25, 2008 4:59 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Completely incorrect Chris. I tried to copy and paste the article that reveals it but I’m in moderation. He tested positive for Hep B. And that’s a pretty known thing.

by chefdaddy on Nov 25, 2008 8:01 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

MMANews is reporting, that Aleksander Emelianenko, brother of Top heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko, tested positive for Hepatitis B, which caused the drama during the weigh-ins at "Affliction Banned" and lead to Emelianenko being denied a license by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC). Emelianenko was ultimately replaced by MMA veteran Gary Goodridge who lost decision to Paul Buentello in the opening fight of "Affliction Banned".

by chefdaddy on Nov 25, 2008 8:07 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

in your defense Chris, from me, lol, I’ve tried to research this since my first post and am now confused. There’s reports of hep B, that he was late to testing b/c of his visa, and several other things. I am now not sure which is accurate. While IMO, the previous felony convictions should have been enough, I don’ t think they were the reason.

by chefdaddy on Nov 25, 2008 8:10 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

talk about rumours!! He was just late, thats all.

by theoriginalchris on Nov 25, 2008 8:32 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

That is what it’s looking like theoriginalchris. Good grief, I found maybe 50 articles saying hep b. And then a few saying he was late and no hep b. but I do know that it wasn’t the ties to the russian mafia.

by chefdaddy on Nov 25, 2008 9:06 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

and by that is what it’s looking like, I meant you seem to be correct. I wonder HOW such a rumor could come about from something so different?

by chefdaddy on Nov 25, 2008 11:04 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

he wouldn’t have won without the power of the mullet

by sac165 on Nov 25, 2008 10:36 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I think Aleks looked slow and not very good at all. You not just kidding around, “prophet”? from your above post?

Another point, Maybe if Aleks didnt outweigh the guy by 40 or 50 lbs, or whatever it was. Those numbers 13.3 for ALeks and 10.4 for Sang…if those numbers are in ‘STONES’, which I am about 99% sure they are, then Aleks did have him outweighed by 40 plus pounds?? Approximately 42 lbs?? WTF?

by fightfan on Nov 25, 2008 1:11 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

It’s heavyweight bro, just like Couture and Lesnar, anywhere from 205 to 265 is good. Anyway, I agree, I also thought both fighters here looked a bit more on the “Slow and Sloppy” side moreso than “calm and Calculating”.

by The Anomaly on Nov 25, 2008 1:23 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

hasnt he always fought like that though? anyways, i think fedors mom had sex with the milk man when she had aleks because while he is good, hes nowhere near on the level of fedor

by brendan on Nov 25, 2008 1:27 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I think the Emelianenko family business of crushing Japanese cans is still very lucrative. That is all I get from this video.

by naturalshadow on Nov 25, 2008 3:03 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

My vote goes to slow and sloppy. Battle of the beer bellies. I remember him looking much better in Pride. Anyone else notice the big M1 logo on the refs back? Does this mean that the refs over in Russia are employed by M1 and not a sanctioning body?

by RiverHorror on Nov 25, 2008 3:07 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yep. Slow and sloppy. His standup looked pathetic. He keeps his hands down and throws that looping baby left hook over and over. I have to look up his record, but cannot imagine him beatin anyone of worth. I HATE this guy. Just something about criminals/thugs/felons that I don’t like. Go figure.

by chefdaddy on Nov 25, 2008 6:41 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I have no problems with criminals, thugs or felons chef, but his standup looked pathetic! He should be happy that he can’t get cleared in the states and can keep crushing asian cans. He’d be the Russian Tank abbot if cleared to fight in the U.S. It must be a Russian thing to not want to be in any type of shape and to fight off your raw talent only!

by kevin on Nov 25, 2008 10:37 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

looked like Chuck to me. Out of shape and flat footed.

well put!

by kevin on Nov 25, 2008 12:35 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, “BRO” I also know that 1 + 1 = 2. it is just common sense for fighters to fight in the lower weight class, if they are outweighed so much by an opponent and close enough to cut 5 or 10 lbs. You dont see guys fighting at MW at 172 or 173 lbs or fighting at LH at 186 or 187 lbs….just common sense, they cut the few pounds.

They guy fighting Alwks weighs in around 212 lbs…..ANYONE can cut 7 lbs. you can do it by going to sleep and not drink any liquids the night b4 and lose 7 lbs

What I was trying to say, which, I will say blatantly , now……is that Aleks was a fed a scrub that has no busniess fighting, nor even knows what a weight class is. the big M-1 challenge couldnt find a real HW to fight Aleks….NO, they fed him a scrub that should be losing at LH

by fightfan on Nov 25, 2008 2:05 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

no he weighed in at 240

by the heat on Nov 25, 2008 7:40 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

And what I was trying to say, which I will say “Blatently” now, is that there are PLENTY of examples of lighter fighter fighting at HW, Couture, Vera, Crocop, even Fedor, all of those guys could/or probably could, make LHW.
Good thing Couture didnt have your “commone sense” to cut down to LHW before he won the HW title.

by The Anomaly on Nov 25, 2008 8:05 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

they are not atones dude 13 stones is 180 aleksander is about 18 stones

So does anybody know the reason why the CSAC wouldnt allow Allow A Emelienanko to fight back in July

by dia mette on Nov 25, 2008 1:28 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

He Supposedly has Hepatitus(Can’t remember A or B, but NOT C)
That’s why he will NEVER fight over here!

by SoCalStunNa on Nov 25, 2008 2:04 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

*Granted if it’s indeed true lol

by SoCalStunNa on Nov 25, 2008 2:06 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Hepatitus C, just like Pam Anderson. Pretty nasty. Turns your liver into swiss cheese. Hopefully it is not true.

by naturalshadow on Nov 25, 2008 3:06 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Pamela Anderson. LMFAO. God, that woman should try sleeping with a guy who showers more than once a month.

by chefdaddy on Nov 25, 2008 6:43 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

no its notttttttttt, he was in jail for ties with the russian mofia and now he cant get a visa

by Chris on Nov 25, 2008 5:04 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yes it iiissssssss, he tested positive for Hep B. Here’s a cut and paste.

A source close to the situation spoke to MMANews.com’s Michael Moody on a condition of anonymity and explained that the blood tests came back right before Aleks and Buentello were scheduled to weigh in and that is why there was so much confusion around the stage and why the fighters did not weigh in. Gary Goodridge ended up stepping up on extremely short notice and filling in for the Russian heavyweight.

The tests were positive for Hepatitis B which resulted in the CSAC cancelling the fight. …

A positive Hepatitis B test is no laughing matter and this could spell the end of Aleks’ fighting career as many of the people close to the situation pointed out. I can’t imagine many fighters willing to step up to fight Aleks with the possibility of catching the disease. He most definitely will not fight in the United States again and it will be interesting to see if this positive test results in organizations from all over the world black listing the brother of heavyweigh king, Fedor Emelianenko.

by chefdaddy on Nov 25, 2008 8:00 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Chris, lol, my apologies. Please see above posts. We were both wrong. I was just a complete a-hole about it.

by chefdaddy on Nov 25, 2008 9:08 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I thought his defense was a bit sloppy. He kept lowering his hands. I don’t know if he was inviting him to punch so he can counter, but if he had did that against a good striker, he would’ve had problems. I think he was just underestimating his opponent and not trying very hard.

by Chris W on Nov 25, 2008 1:28 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

I think what to take from this is it makes you very hungry living in ur brothers shadow and cheese burgers fill that void!

Pretty sure Aleks did not give a shit about this fight. He knew hed KO him eventually despite looking like he put about a week of training in~

by Scott on Nov 25, 2008 1:50 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

as i watched Aleks stand there expressionless i thought back to how Joe Rogan and Frank Mir (Murr) always say its the calm ones to worry about not the ones jumping up and down across the cage from you. although i CAN NOT stand either of the Emelianenkos they are some bad ass dudes whose guts put Chuck Liddell’s to shame! Some Badass COMIE brothers there!

FOr all you WWE fans lets have a “Four Corners Blood Line Beatdown Match!”- Emelianenkos VS Shamrocks VS Guidas VS Diaz’

Has there ever been an occurence where one of these small anonymous Korean fighters beats up the well known fighter that is supposed to KO them in the first round?

Cause these “showcases” really do not prove anything.

Aleks needs to train more seriously he definitely was no looking sharp. Either way id still love to see Aleks vs Overeem!

by Khaos_Warrior on Nov 25, 2008 4:35 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

He would be a threat in the UFC. He’s quick enough to be good and has the confidence to shake up th HW division. The UFC is getting so bland, we need to see guys like Alex who have personality. All star American puppets get boring after a while.

by Rilly on Nov 25, 2008 6:52 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

When Aleks actually trains for a fight he’s pretty badass and can hang with the best. But I hope he actually doesn’t have hepitis that would fuckin suck cause no fighting in america. BTW Isn’t Pam suppose to die in a couple of years?

by Jared on Nov 25, 2008 7:26 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Aleks looked horrible in this fight. Not that he ever had an “imposing” build but he looked very out of shape for this fight. If he looked like this when he was supposed to fight in Affliction, he would’ve gotten crushed. I’ve always been a huge Aleks fan and wish he’d be able to fight in the US sometime but it probably won’t happen. Whomever asked, no Aleks never fought nog. I’d like to see him get in shape and head to Japan for some serious fights against some guys who aren’t cans.

“Is “Sasha” calm and calculating? Or slow and sloppy?"

Try this, he’s BORING!!

by A Lynch on Nov 25, 2008 9:58 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Jesse Holland

“Slow and sloppy” is a stupid label to tag a fighter with after watching the guy connect with about 80% of the strikes he throws, then getting the KO. What the fuck does he have to do to get respect?….KO the guy in the first exchange?

I have a feeling if it was any UFC fighter that just connected that much in a fight, followed by a KO victory…you’d be all over his nuts.

by introvert on Nov 25, 2008 10:12 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

He’s definitely more “calm and calculating”…..the other guy is the one that’s “slow and sloppy”

I seriously wouldn’t pay to watch that fight.

I see alot of you guys are on the Crack Rock!!!! Lesnar would Herring him and I don’t see him beating any of our HW’s….

by wand1 on Nov 25, 2008 11:40 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Who’s “our” HW’s?

Are you Dana or Lorenzo?

by introvert on Nov 25, 2008 12:16 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

omg wat the hell r u smoking? lesnar would herring him???? hahahaha dude have u ever seen alek fight, lesnar would get ktfo really bad. he would beat 99% of ufc’s hws except for maybe nog and thats it

by oscar on Nov 25, 2008 1:40 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Aleks would get ripped in half in a fight with Lesnar, that is the Lesnar that is hungry to keep learning the technique. Lesnar is hungry and coachable. He’s gifted and has the ability to learn. Genetically Aleks (and Fedor are gifted and they have some seriously snappy hooks and leg kicks (the guy above who commented on the weakness of them is smoking crack and knows nothing about punch speed – i.e. it doesn’t take full body force to KTFO someone. The dudes are just gifted). Anyways, I digress, but bottom line is that he is gifted genetically, but chooses to be a puss and not train like a beast. He;s learned the technique and thinks that’s good enough to get him by. Lesnar on the other hand has the conditioning down pat, but is more than willing to learn the technique. Aleks = Gifted – Hunger… Lesnar = Gifted + Hunger.

by the matt king on Nov 25, 2008 4:33 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Correction…….

Aleks = Gifted – Hunger

Lesnar = Gifted + Hunger – MMA skill – experience – never been tested by a real top 10 HW.

Randy is not a top 10? Since when?

by naturalshadow on Nov 26, 2008 12:30 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

btw dude did u ever see cc herring let me tell ya wat lesnar did was nothing compared to wat cc did, cc literally ragdolled him way worse than lesnar did so watch some fights be4 u speak man

by oscar on Nov 25, 2008 1:46 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Oscar, were you replying to my reply? Cause it sounds like you were. Sorry if not. You are agreeing with me then? I said Aleks was gifted but did not commit himself. Lesnar would steam roll him. Are we on the same page or…?

by the matt king on Nov 25, 2008 5:36 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Oh sorry. Just looked at the time next to the name. We are one the same page besides the fact that you would bet on Aleks (in a fight that will never happen). Peace out.

ive watched every one if alek;s fights and this is by far the worst. he looked slow out of shape and sloppy something rarely seen in him specially in the stand up no feet movement which he usuallly has. if u guys think hes overated watch his fight with sergei it was one of the most beautiful boxing and stand up overall ever displayed in mma. u guys need to give him a break even fedor said alek has more talent and ppotential than him if he only he dedicated himself enough. this guy will be a monster hes only 27 if he starts training again

Truth

by introvert on Nov 25, 2008 1:40 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yea OK….. Then they come to the UFC and they beat by # 10. Where is Cro Cop? oh yea he is running from Overeem I forgot.

by wand1 on Nov 25, 2008 2:12 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

“come” to the UFC?

Why do you always act like you own the fucking company?

BTW, Overreem would destroy Brock…..so would Aleks, Fedor, Barnett and Arlovski.

Prove otherwise.

by introvert on Nov 25, 2008 2:17 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

the discussion is irrelevant, Lesnar has only had 4 fights.. come again with the same statement in about a year and then we’ll see what’s up..

by RoB on Nov 25, 2008 4:17 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Then, if you are right, you have a case.

Until then, any discussion of Brock beating any top 10 HW is “irrelevant”.

by introvert on Nov 25, 2008 4:39 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Prove otherwise? You’re asking him to prove a fight that hasn’t happened? Arlovski and Brock would be the only fight out of those that will ever happen, so we’ll see. We have this written down in case it does.

by the matt king on Nov 25, 2008 5:40 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yes, we will see.

Although it won’t be a title fight, unless Brock somehow wins the belt back from Nog at some point…..when he gains enough experience fighting someone other than a guy who crashed a motorcycle and hasn’t fought well ever since, or an old man who is starting to resemble that old pedophile on Family Guy that hasn’t fought in over a year.

by introvert on Nov 25, 2008 7:03 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

So, Aleks has a bad night, then knocks the guy out in the first round, and is all of a sudden a bum? But, Anderson Silva can dance around and do fuck all for 12 minutes, and be praised as some sort of God?

The hate for anyone outside the UFC on the website is astounding and never more obvious than….well…..always.

by introvert on Nov 25, 2008 2:36 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Refer to my post above. Aleks proved he has no heart with that lack luster conditioning. He always appears to be soft. True he is gifted though. Just a mediocre heart. The hungry man always wins (in otherwise well paired matches anyways)

by the matt king on Nov 25, 2008 5:43 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

CALM but slow and sloppy. If that was an answer.
