Fight for the Troops tickets opened to public through auction for Dec. 10 event

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is making just 30 tickets available to the public for its "Fight for the Troops" event, which is scheduled to take place at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, N.C., on Wednesday, December 10.

Prior to the news, the three-hour Spike TV special was open only to military personnel from nearby Fort Bragg and beyond, as well as vetted members of the media. So if you are among the hundreds of civilians (literally) who have emailed us about tickets then this appears to be your best opportunity.

Albeit a very limited one.

Here's the deal:

"'UFC Fight Night for the Troops' featuring Josh Koscheck, Matt Swick and Matt Wiman is live from the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, NC on December 10th. Thousands of soldiers from Fort Bragg, the proud home of the U.S. Airborne and Special Operations Forces, will be in attendance and only 30 tickets are available to the public with all funds raised benefitting the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Bid now to win tickets to this exclusive UFC auction."

To place a bid on tickets to UFC Fight Night 16: "Fight for the Troops" click here.

Josh Koscheck will headline the event against Yoshiyuki Yoshida. There was some concern that "Kos" would be unable to battle "Zenko" after losing a tough unanimous decision to Thiago Alves at UFC 90: "Silva vs. Cote" on October 25.

Fortunately, the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) product is apparently good to go … and very game

To check our the complete and final fight card click here. For all the latest on UFC Fight Night 16 be sure to hit up our event archive right here. MMAmania.com will also provide complete "Fight for the Troops" coverage before, during and after the show.

Donations to support the cause are accepted and encouraged online at www.fallenheroesfund.org or by calling 1-800-340-HERO.

I like Wiman he has a bright future. Let’s how he does against the very tought Frankie Edgar I think Edgar by desicion or Wiman by another Chuck Liddell style knockout.

kos by tko
swick by tko
wiman by tko

by ufcaddict on Nov 23, 2008 4:36 PM EST up reply actions

I got yoshida pulling an upset and submitting Koschek.

Is it just me or is this a crappy card? NOt very excvited about this event at all! THe UFC could have stepped up its effort and gave the troops a better card. If you are going to give back to our brave troops…..do it the right way. GIve them a solid event!

Can someone explain to me why I just can’t stand Goulet? I mean, he’s got a decent record. I just see him as no more than a 3rd tier fighter at best. Swick is putting him to sleep. …………….Maybe I don’t like him cuz of the hair? that could be it.

by chefdaddy on Nov 23, 2008 1:40 PM EST reply actions

All the talk before that KO from ludwig is what did it for me. Also besides the hair – “the road warrior”? seriously? GTFO.

by NameNotRequired on Nov 23, 2008 3:34 PM EST up reply actions

Namenotrequired: I think watching Luwig kO him in 3 seconds is what turned me off about Goulet. I just cant stand the guy. With that said, I hate Mike “I am Swicking out” Swick even more……Dont like either fighter but Goulet is the lessor of the 2 evils!

Dont you hate fights where you cant stand both fighters?

by john on Nov 24, 2008 10:22 AM EST up reply actions

i can’t stand goulet either…i just don’t look forward to any of his fights. i can’t explain why.

Who is Matt Swick?

by JB on Nov 23, 2008 2:03 PM EST reply actions

This poster looks really gay for some reason. Especially the bottom where Swick, Goulet, Edgar and Wiman are.

by Andy C on Nov 23, 2008 2:04 PM EST reply actions

agreed. it looks like a poster for a carnival…Kos looks like a disgruntled clown. why is edgar’s pic so tilted on its side?

Hey Mania, what’s going on with that Tee Hate Me contest. I’m dying to know the results!!!

by LiFt on Nov 23, 2008 3:47 PM EST up reply actions

Zuffa could take a hint from the Dream folks.

by Jason on Nov 23, 2008 4:28 PM EST up reply actions

Kos is a disgruntled clown, which is why he will be unemployed following his fight.

by PW on Nov 23, 2008 5:35 PM EST up reply actions

Demien Maia vs Nate Marquardt… Anyone???

by belfort_fan on Nov 23, 2008 4:37 PM EST reply actions

There sure is a lot of hate for this FREE card. I guess they could have just did nothing to please the douchebags.

I can’t wait to see Kos get back in there and I’m hoping Wiman puts a whooping on Edgar, but I’ve got the feeling Edgar will try and L&P. Heck, I’m even looking forward to Swick’s fight because this is someone he should be able to finish.

I am so sick of people saying free card you have to pay a cable bill don’t you the UFC gets a lot of money from SpikeTV to televise this free card.Just because the card is on cable TV doesn’t mean you can’t criticize the match-ups.Goulet is obviously just an opponent thrown Swick’s way to give him a win and Cantwell’s fight being on the main card is just to get people familiar with some of the WEC fighters crossing over.Besides the main event and the Frankie Edgar fight this card sucks.

by Robert on Nov 23, 2008 8:01 PM EST up reply actions

“you have to pay a cable bill…”

lol. you pay the cable anyways . might as well get some free fights.

by JB on Nov 24, 2008 3:08 PM EST up reply actions

lol the fights aren’t free !

by Robert on Nov 24, 2008 3:55 PM EST up reply actions

All 3 fights on the poster would fit perfectly on an undercard.

by tripleainto on Nov 23, 2008 9:30 PM EST reply actions

Then I hope you don’t watch it if it sucks that bad. I’m sorry you can’t have 5 champions fighting on the card to make it better. As for the matchups, Goulet is the one who has been calling Swick out and it’s not like Swick is a world beater anyway. This is a good fight to determine his standings in the WW division and same with the Wiman/Edgar fight.

by sbud on Nov 23, 2008 10:45 PM EST reply actions

sbud what do you work for the UFC? ‘cause you’re taking criticism of this below average fight card personally for some reason.

Lesner vs Fedor Fedor will beet the shit out of Lesner no problem what so ever!!!!!!!!!!!1 Lets make it happen..

by J powell on Nov 24, 2008 2:04 AM EST up reply actions

Are you drunk, everyone knows that!

Fedor: 8 years of MMA training, 31 fights, 29 wins.

Brock: 2 years of MMA training, 4 fights, 3 wins.

Today Fedor would take it but in two years he’d maul Fedor to pieces.
