Hallelujia! FINALLY we get to talk about the NEXT UFC event (UFC 92) instead of UFC 94 and 95.
Very pleased that this thread was made!
This is a mega fight! IMo, just as big as BJ Penn vs. GSP 2, and Bigger than Chuck vs. Wandferlei that went down last december.
Yeah Yeah Yeah, Wanderlei has demolished Rampage twice, but so much has changed since then. I have No PREDICTIONS about this fight, and I wont ever be making any predictions about this fight (not even the actual day of the event). I wont even bet this fight! Why bother, when just watching it will give me goosebumps!
I have no idea who will win this fight and I dont even know who to root for. I ADORE both Page and Wanderlei and I really hate to see one of them loose. Regardless who looses, put these 2 against each other and you will always have a great fight.
Wanderlei and Rampage should just fight each other once a year best of 7 or something like that!
BTW, Winner of this fight is the Next UFC lightheavyweight Champion!

I’m inclined to agree John. I think Wanderlei might maim Forrest if he gets past ‘Page. Then again Forrest is always an underdog and seems to pull a win out of nowhere, but he’d have to get Wanderlei down and just wrestle him most of the time. On the feet he’d have to be in and out jabbing and popping him with a few low leg kicks to try and outpoint him and hopefully set up a quick clinch and sweep.
That being said, I can see Wanderlei getting inside that range and smashing Forrest. Forrest is very much like Couture, in that neither are really scary fighters. Neither possess knockout power, or a crazy sub game like a Hazelett or Maia, (though Forrest’s ground game is somewhat underrated, no one mention the RNC on Shogun). Don’t even really think either have viscious g’n’p, definitely not Forrest anyway. But they both outwork they’re opponents, tire them out and then maybe ride it out to the finish and get the decision or look to finish because they’re opponents are exhausted. You can never count Forrest out I have learned.
Still I say Wanderlei by viscious KO against Forrest after decapitating Rampage.

Josh- lmao. John will never learn to spell lose, loser, or losing. I think we just have to accept it.

I like how you’re assuming Forrest will still be champ…NEWS FLASH…he won’t be after UFC 92. Rashad is going to work Forrest over and then bring on the winner of this fight.
WAR RASHAD!!!

Finally, a different subject. This is going to be an intense fight and probably the one that I will be looking forward to the most come fight night.

I love Wandy….want him to win over Rampage but I just think Ranpage has improved while Wandy is on the downside….take away the Jardine ko and I start to worry.
by Robert on Nov 21, 2008 7:59 AM EST up reply actions
I notice that Wandy, as well as a lot of other fighters, have really started doing more of the caveman style training that you see Sherk and Lesnar do.

I’ll be looking forward to this fight the most as well. I want the Wandy to win so bad. I think that not having the ropes like in pride may be a bit of a disadvantage as he hasn’t used his knees yet in the UFC like he did in Pride. Having the ropes allowed him to lean back and create space. I think Wandy will still take it down.
by Shadyone33 on Nov 20, 2008 11:19 PM EST up reply actions
That’s the thing…. the element of the change in the enviroment. That is the unknown here. Wandi isn’t going to fight Rampage like he did the techno viking. He will have to take his time and be a little more methodical. If Rampage is Rampage come that night I think it could go either way…. that’s a huge if though…
by Psyqo78®™ on Nov 20, 2008 11:25 PM EST up reply actions
I feel sorry for Page, he lost his title, lost his mind, lost his money to Juanito, and is about to cap off the year with another loss. It’s a shame, because I would like to see a rematch with Forrest but I believe we will have to wait quite a bit longer after this match, unless Forrest loses to Rashad.

hahaha you wish buddy!
My sources tell me that Rampage looks PHENOMENAL right now while training over at Wolfslair. Rampage is going to be tunnel focused to a ‘t’ and he’s gonna come in and finally get the retribution that he deserves after getting jobbed in two fights back in Pride. Steroids and bad ref’ing are the only reasons why Wandy won them…

Good discussion today guys, we debated a tough subject with relatively no insults (except for the few guys who think I really care what they think of me).
Chef, I get what you’re saying about signing your likeness away for life, and would agree with you if it were for more than the video game. There was a link to the contract, this was specifically for the video game bud! Also, it seems only one guy (manager) had a problem with it, why is no “big name” guy complaining? last, it doesn’t matter, because as a few of us stated, it lasted about 12 hours!
What really impressed me is the fact that we went all day with record posts, having a great debate! If we could get the moderation under control, we could maybe talk “real time” without the hours of delays, imagine that! If we can have a great discussion with those obstacles, I can only imagine the debate we could have if we went back to the old posting program. For those new here, back when this site was ufcmania, there was way less moderation, and comments were almost always instantly posted!

Kevin, This is the biased link, pasted on this site by CHRIS W, definitely on the side of the fighers, it looked like legitmate info, (I hope)…
http://www.tapoutlive.com/images/mags/ufc_legal.pdf
Is there a link to the contract specifically? I understood by this link that there was much more to it than a video game.
I’m always 1 to change my stance based on correct info, unfortunately we don’t always get that until later down the road.

Wanderlei is awesome. I believe firmly he will DESTROY RAMPAGE for the 3rd straight time. I think Rampage is too slow at times which will give Silva the advantage in strikes and knees.
by spiderman on Nov 20, 2008 11:12 PM EST reply actions
he should try something different this time like kill the legs first. I find it very satisfying to see that for some reason. Gotta love fighters like alves.
by NameNotRequired on Nov 20, 2008 11:22 PM EST up reply actions
Forrest exposed Quintons inability to take leg kicks as of late…. that’s exactly how he should be thinking. And I love watching trees get chopped down.

i must be 1 of the only people that is goin for rampage on this…. rampaage by decision ….. 3 round war plz!!!!!!!
by ufcaddict on Nov 21, 2008 9:15 AM EST up reply actions
I agree. And it’s already been proven effective against Rampage. Forrest’s leg kicks were the difference in their fight, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Wanderlei do the same thing to him.
by GregC on Nov 20, 2008 11:30 PM EST up reply actions
except wandy doesnt have the lenght that forrest does. his leg kicks wont be that much of an advantage. if rampage isnt insane, fat, and learns a new way to dodge punches (aka not duck his head cause he is vunerable to knees) then he takes it.
by COR on Nov 21, 2008 1:13 PM EST up reply actions
I like both fighters but I’m gonna pick Rampage. :D
by Natas on Nov 20, 2008 11:13 PM EST reply actions
Depending on which Rampage shows up Wandi could have his hands full. But if history repeats itself I wouldn’t be suprised.
by Psyqo78®™ on Nov 20, 2008 11:18 PM EST up reply actions
Couldn’t agree more, im a huge Silva fan- but if the page that showed up against Dan hendson shows up then i could see it going rampages way- why two reasons, Rampage has been wanting to get back at Silva since silva signed with the UFC- and two i think Silva might be looking past rampage only cuz he’s mashed him twice now, so he’ll come in over confident and it can happen… but if silva wins and gets a title shot keep in mind forrest wins would those two fight each other cuz i know they train together??
by ricky on Nov 21, 2008 1:15 AM EST up reply actions
It will go the same way ,the only reason the Henderson fight went that way is because Henderson is a wrestler,Wanderlai is a brawler ,so is Rampage,so there is only one way this fight, can be fought, plus they truelly hate each other,so emotion takes over, which tends to make people want knock the other guy’s head off, everything points to advantage Silva
by scott on Nov 21, 2008 2:07 AM EST up reply actions
silva would fight forrest if they both won… he said he would a while back something along the lines of business is business
by ufcaddict on Nov 21, 2008 10:07 AM EST up reply actions
this is a big fight an di think the best to date potentially as the ax murderer will be in title hunt
by rawbt on Nov 20, 2008 11:15 PM EST reply actions
its gonna be a really exciting fight but in d end silva will win again. the style rampage fights is perfect for silva to get the W. Silvas agressiveness will be too much for rampage just like the last 2 battles. silva by tko 2nd round.

by nathan on Nov 20, 2008 11:33 PM EST reply actions
He got beat by a better fighter,or maybe some one who works harder,at learning his craft, and to cemetary thats why that weird looking son of a bitch has beat Rampage twice
by scott on Nov 21, 2008 1:43 AM EST up reply actions
uhhh ok? that’s why Rampage’s face looked like he just got done having dinner while Forrest’s looked like he just got put thru a meat grinder.
Look Rampage lost because of his dumb energy drink diet and Forrest’s sudden improvement. WE all thought that the Shogun fight was a fluke because here was a fighter who had just got destroyed by Jardine and looked awful in doing so. Now that he has two straight big wins though, it’s clear that Forrest has changed his style of fighting and he’s a much different fighter.
Forrest never won that fight tho…
by Anthony on Nov 21, 2008 1:52 PM EST up reply actions
Uhhm?Maybe because Forrest is a harder worker than Rampage, and hey Cemetary that guy has beat Rampage twice so get ready for the third time

I do not see any way that Rampage can withstand Silva.Silva has a good chin,he can take a lot of powerful blows.I do not think that Rampage can survive a slugfest when somebody has a great chin

hopefully wandy puts his ass down bleeding a lake like he did in pride 2 bad he cant stomp on his head thats wat happend with chuck and thats y he lost even dana sed he should have beating chucks ass win he knocked him down but if he loses by ud it will be messed up

by bradpittfightclub on Nov 21, 2008 1:31 AM EST reply actions
Hey that is the difference between Pride and UFC,so get over that ,you should not be able to stomp a downed opponent anyway ,that is just brutal, might as well be street fighting,we can say a lot of matches in UFC would be different if it was not for that rule
by scott on Nov 21, 2008 1:38 AM EST reply actions
I would have picked Rampage if it was Wanderlei’s first fight back in the UFC but because he owned Jardine, he will feel more confident than ever. This was goes to Wanderlei in the first, or early in the second.
I also think that Wanderlei is secretly hoping Rashad beats Forrest so he doesnt have to fight his mate and training partner for the belt.

I agree, but Wanderlai is a pro ,he will fight who ever the champ is ,he probably would rather his friend wins ,then he and his friend would fight, they are both true professionals,so they would not have a problem or have hard feelings toward the other fighter
by scott on Nov 21, 2008 1:54 AM EST reply actions
both these guys have granite chins and both can have extreme ko power! Stylistically Rampage matches up well because of his wrestling but wandy’s been training at couture so who knows now!

i seeing a lot BS TALKING HERE and rampage haters
1 THE ONLY THING WANDY CAN DO IT AGAIN RAMPAGE IS USE HIS KNEES BECAUSE BETTER BOXER AND MOVEMENT RAMPAGE IS BETTER= WATCH THE TWO FIGHTS
2 I BELIEVE RAMPAGE IS STRONGER NOW WANDY GOT MORE STAMINA
3 I DON’T SEE THOSE KNEES HURT HIM AGAIN WHY BECAUSE CHEIK CONGO IS HIS TRAINER PARTNER AND HE IS BETTER STRIKER THAN WANDY BY 100 KM
4 WANDERLEI FOUGHT A YOUNG RAMPAGE TWICE BUT IN THE 2 FIGHT RAMPAGE WAS WINING UNTIL THOSE KNEES CAME IN TO PLAY A HUGE ROLE IN THE MATCH
5 THE ONLY PERSON WHO CAN DESTROY RAMPAGE IS HIMSELF AND HIS MENTAL HELTH
6 I SEEING RAMPAGE WINNING BY TKO SECOND ROUND OR FIRST
by ALEX on Nov 21, 2008 2:56 AM EST reply actions
that should tell you something if Rampage was winning both fights at first…it DOESNT MATTER! Wanderlei still KO’d him TWICE! Yes, Rampage DOES HAVE A CHANCE, but I have to go with history repeats itself on this one.
Won’t this be the first time someone will have a 3rd rematch after the wining the first 2 fights convincingly???
