Affliction tickets for 'Day of Reckoning' at Honda Center Jan. 24 on sale soon

Affliction: "Day of Reckoning" tickets are set to go on sale tomorrow, Wednesday, November 19 at 10 a.m. PT for the blockbuster pay-per-view (PPV) show scheduled for the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., on January 24, 2009.

The promotion recently made the official announcement, as well as confirmed several more previously rumored match ups for the fight card.

Of course, "Day of Reckoning," which was originally slated to go down on October 11, 2008, before being postponed, will feature one of the most anticipated fights in the history of the sport between WAMMA Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko and former UFC title holder Andrei Arlovski.

Another former UFC heavyweight champion, Josh Barnett, was also confirmed for the card. His opponent is unknown at this time.

Eleven total bouts are expected to eventually round out the card, including a light heavyweight showdown between Renato "Babalu" Sobral and Matt Lindland. Vitor Belfort is also expected return against a soon to be announced opponent.

Prior to the PPV broadcast, which will be produced and distributed by Showtime Networks Inc. in conjunction with Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, several fights will be televised on the HDNet channel.

In fact, a light heavyweight tilt between Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Vladimir Matyushenko will headline the televised HDNet preliminary card that will serve as a lead in to the PPV event.

it’s actually pretty close to mma, I saw clinch, knees, strikes, kicks and ground work. sorry to rain on all your parades, I truly hope this forces Fedor to train harder on mma/sambo, than make movies no one (but John) will see. He’s the best as of right now, but there are guys catching him, and with his inactivity and choice of fights, isn’t cementing his legacy like a true competitor would, in my opinion!

by kevin on Nov 18, 2008 10:55 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

choice of fights? he is fighting aa next and after that i bet 75% of his fights will be with highly ranked fighters.

75%= 3 good fights 1 new years japan event

If sambo is as close to MMA as you think (which it isn’t even close), then all that vid tells me is that the guy who outpointed Fedor would kick Nog’s ass……..since Fedor did, twice.

by introvert on Nov 18, 2008 11:23 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Don’t waste your time Roy. These UFC ’huggers think the UFC HW champ is always the best in the world, no matter what. Even though the former 5 time defending champ got destroyed in 36 seconds by Fedor…the current interim champ got beaten up twice by Fedor…even though the other UFC champ is 2-1 in the UFC…..Fedor sucks compared to all of them….lmao.

by introvert on Nov 18, 2008 11:26 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

lol, I never said that, my point is, Fedor, who I’m a huge fan of, needs to concentrate on mma, not movies! never-mind the UFC, wec, wwe or whatever organization you want to mention, there are no HW’s that will beat Fedor! NONE!!!!! the best fights for him are at LHW, which is an easy cut for him! I see no HW giving him a challenge. I am a competitor, played 3 sports in high school, could have played D-1aa football, as a competitor, I always wanted a challenge. If mw and my friends got into a fight at a bar or club, I was the smallest guy in my crew, but always wanted to fight the biggest toughest guy. I didn’t always win, but the challenge of fighting the bigger guy was fun to me!

by kevin on Nov 18, 2008 11:42 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Fedor didnt even fight anyone to get the Bronze Medal! What a true champ! And dont use MMA math cause it doesnt work!

by JV on Nov 18, 2008 11:48 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

That’s great Kevin, but if one of your challenges involved being owned by someone for the rest of your life, or else face litigation, would you still do it?

There is something to be said for a guy standing up for himself, whether it’s in the cage or out of it……that’s what Fedor did.

by introvert on Nov 18, 2008 12:17 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

what do you mean? his main thing was having his shitty team be in the UFC. it’s an individual sport man, your team can train you, but they don’t need to fight in the same organization, especially if their not good enough.

by kevin on Nov 18, 2008 12:44 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Kev: who the F r you to tell a man that they shouldnt do movies? Anyone of us would jump at the chances to do movies. I dont hear you hating on Cung Le for taking time off to doing movies.

Also, stop bitchin about the red devil fighters. I can name about 5 of them that would beat the snot out of all the british fighters that the UFC has signed like terry etim. Some of those dudes can bang!

Fedor will NEVER lose an mma fight. REALITY!!!!!

by john on Nov 18, 2008 2:24 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

wow John, you really don’t read what people write or are just a straight up douche! Go down to our long chat yesterday, I said Cung le and Randy also should stick to their “bread and butter” first and fore most, because it affects their fighting! second, I really hate to break it to you, but Fedor has a 1 in the loss column..that REALITY BITCH. I don’t care if it was an illegal (accidental blow), or if he avenged the loss, it’s still there. Like I said before, Fedor IS THE BEST HW OUT THERE, period! There is no fighter at HW that will challenge Fedor! What part of that don’t you get? Just because I don’t get an erection every time Fedor’s name is mentioned, doesn’t mean I don’t realize that!
by the way ass cheese, this took me 3 seconds to look up! it’s old news…you’re slipping John, check your facts. never said those dudes couldn’t fight, but if every fighter wanted their whole camp to fight with them, it would be chaos!

1st of all ‘TY’ Kevin for getting that link on here, I haven’t had time to search for it and u made it easy. 2ndly, not that Kevin needs any defending, but I mostly agree with his 1st comment. I watched the fight twice. Fedor’ looked like he gassed’.. that’s not a good sign.

I have no problem with Fedor doing movies, reality shows or fighting AA or Barnett, He should take full advantage of all that. However, with all that celebrity fame can come a price to pay in the MMA Ring.

Fedor is 32 yrs old, he’s right at that stage where training and fighting full time will prolong his peaking yrs. If he’s not doing all the things he needs to do in MMA, we will slowly see chinks in his armor and someone, like AA could possibly pick him off.

by THORAZINE on Nov 18, 2008 3:41 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

did u really just call me ass cheese? lol what can I say about that? lol

by john on Nov 18, 2008 3:42 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

maybe I took it too far John, but seriously, no one said anything negative about your boy! If there’s even a hint of negativity, you get all upset and defensive, it’s actually a little humorous!

by kevin on Nov 18, 2008 4:27 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I totally agree with Kevin. Fedor is the best, but he’s not a perfect fighter. Why are people being so sensitive?!

by Pat on Nov 18, 2008 7:05 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Why are people questioning his mma game over a sambo fight? This is just CRAZY talk! Fedor probably doesnt even train for the sambo championships…why would he when every year the fighters he is matched up against, quit and refuse to fight him. I bet he competes in it as an obligation to his country…his way of giving back….But you guys constantly Crucify him over this….I just dont get it!

BTW, UFC signingh the red devil fighters was not the main point. I wont list the reason’s because I know that you already know the deal Kevin…but to say that was the main sticking point to why he did not sign with the UFC, is just not correct…..YOU guys all want to se ehim in the ufc SO BAD, THAT YOU HATE ON HIM, UNTIL HE ACTUALLY STEPS IN THE oCTAGON.

YOu guys have to understand, Fedor is bigger than the UFC. He is one of the only fighters who can go his whole career without fighting in the Octagon, and he will still probably make more money than he could in the UFC, and also go down as the best fighter of all time….True story!

Fedor is beloved in countries that dont even know what the UFC is. I doubt that any fighter in the world is as popular as Fedor…..so why should he kneel down to Dana and come to the UFC?

He has already DESTROYED UFC champions is Nog (twice), Sylvia, Arlovski and Barnett are left…..There arent any interesting fights even available for him in the UFC and please dont mention Brock just yet!

by john on Nov 18, 2008 7:19 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

LHW! the world combined isn’t as big as the US john!
I get you’re point, although pretty sad and lame excuse for him losing in sambo. if a fighter you didn’t like didn’t train hard you’d crucify him!

by kevin on Nov 18, 2008 12:20 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Of the loss, Fedor said this:

“Yes, it was my first defeat in Combat Sambo, nothing shocking though. Its a sport, it could have happened in any moment. I’m happy that I haven’t lost by KO or any other unpleasent way. I’v lost by the throw. In MMA you can be on your back as long as you want. In CS is a different rules. Nevertheless I started with Sambo and I love this sport and I will continue to compete in it. From every fight I learn something. In this case I learned that you can’t have it all, if you do everyhting at ones. At the monent the most important thing for me is MMA. Its important for me to stay the champion. In MMA I won’t let myself to relax at all. As for Sambo – its like a hobby (proper translation) to me, so I can relax a little bit. I can’t train as hard for Sambo, because I have other things to do”.

by zheka on Nov 18, 2008 12:04 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

classy way to lose! And for you guys bashing me, he stated the same thing I did, he must prioritize, glad to hear it. AA is one of my favorites, but he’s dead, he has never gotten over the KO by sylvia!

All class.

by introvert on Nov 18, 2008 1:07 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

i agree with you kevin i just think some people are putting to much into his loss like he is on a downfall or something, he will probally lose in mma oneday but that dosn’t mean he isn’t the best.

by roy on Nov 18, 2008 2:18 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Exactly ROY!!!! Thats why I have been getting so pissed. Why would he even train hard for Sambo when every other year at the Sambo tournament, his opponents refuse to
even fight him? He does this is part to give back to his country and I can respect that! He is probably the most unselfish person in the fight game. I dont get mad when people question his skills, I get mad when he doesnt get the respect that he deserves as a MAN…. He is one classy dude, and If I ever were to become successful in anything, I would like to carry myself in the manner that he does.

Truly an inspiration!

By the way Kevin, Fighters that do movies:
Tito
Chuck
Randy
Rampage
Cung Le
Forrest
Gina
Sherk

and the list will continue to grow…. THats money man, and I cant knock their hustle! lol

I AGREE JOHN, but when it affects what your main focus is, thats when I have a problem. I have no problem with people making extra money! It would be like me not playing poker or betting football. But if those things affected my “real job” I’d have to stop!

I hope AA beats the hell out of Fedor, easier said than done!!! Just think it would be nice for a change, to hear that he is not the GOD OF MMA. He is still a man, to which he can be defeated and will in time!

arlovski is one of my favorites, but he is going to get MAULED!!! Epect to see Fedor unleash his brutal ground n pound!

Question: Can anyone come up with a good opponent for Barnett?

Barnett vs. Werdum!

by john on Nov 18, 2008 10:22 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

i think its a good fight for werdum. i see him winning that one if they fought.

by allamerican on Nov 18, 2008 10:26 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

is werdum came in like he did against dos santos, barnett would kill him! Silva is going to fight RJJ, I reported this months ago, thats why he says he’s retiring after 6 fights, thats the fight he wants and UFC won’t let him. My prediction…Dana comes around to keep him in the UFC!

also, i know one of the therapists there. his last name is bickford. maybe you met him. i grew up with his kids, the most f*cked up thing is, all of his kids are into drugs. his oldest was locked up for multiple charges icluding pistol whipping his pregnant girlfriend, he is considered a career criminal and got locked up for 10 years, the other two got locked up for stealing some old lady’s perse(amoung other things)…. talk about a f*cked up turn of events! the guy works at gosnold as a therapist, and look at his own kids! i used to see the guy walking the neighborhood at like 12, 1, 2 in the morning when i’d go for runs. poor s.o.b. i can only imagine what he was thinking on those walks of his……

lol don’t know, we’re going back 10 years man! Then again 4 or 5 years ago. I’ve been sober 3, so obviously it didn’t work too well. I know 1 thing, it was very expensive, lots of “famous” rich people, and a nice break! In my hey day, I was doing 2500+ a week on coke! I’m an animal when I’m into something!!

by kevin on Nov 18, 2008 11:48 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

2500 a week!! holy sh*t! i guess you liked your coke a lot! yeah the capes a cool place to vacation, drink, find drunk, rich, hot girls but you wouldnt wanna live there year round. now that i think about it though, was the dude tall and skinny and looked like a crackhead? if so, i may have went to high school with him. there was this dude who used to tell everyone that he was immortal (and was dead serious). what a nutjob he was. it kinda sounds like what he called himself.

lol. yeah, p towns a place no (straight) man wants to go. the last time i went there i was probably 19 or 20, i got hit on by a bunch of f*ckin tranny’s! they probably do it to straight guys just to mess with them but, needless to say, i havnt gone back. well, if you ever go back you’ll have to let me know, we’ll go drinkin with some good sh*ts that i know. like i said, im moving back to mass in the spring. yeah, yarmouth or barnstable are the only towns that have any real appeal to guys like us. otherwise, its all water, and that sh*t gets old quick.

was’nt barnetT suppposed to fight bigfoot silva or randleman on jan 4th for sengoku? i dont care much for all these “TBA’S”, but at least they still have a good while to fill in these voids. i’ll watch this for the a.a./fedor fight alone.

i know, im pretty pumped for this card. i think arlovski has a better shot than sylvia did(because sylvias a p*ssy). after what someone wrote in another thread, i really want fedor to lose! although, i still think he’ll win.

by allamerican on Nov 18, 2008 9:42 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

no way arlovski has a better shot that sylvia. arlovski has never beaten anyone of merit besides tim.

by allamerican on Nov 18, 2008 11:52 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

zheka, how do you see Fedor going about arlovski. GnP, standing ko, etc.

by James S on Nov 18, 2008 6:59 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I donno Fedor’s striking was brutal against Silvia, and Arlovski is somewhat average on the ground. Nonetheless this is indeed going to be a great card.

by Chad on Nov 18, 2008 9:50 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

ohh i agree!! trust me, i think fedors a baaaaddd dude. but, i knew what the outcome of the fedor/sylvia fight would be. but i definatly think that its gonna be a different type of fight with arlovski because arlovski has good ko power, and quickness. i dont think fedor will attack arlovski the way he did sylvia. it should be a more drawn out fight, a few exchanges til someone makes a mistake.

by allamerican on Nov 18, 2008 10:14 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Most people knew what the outcome would be, but nobody expecting Tim to beaten up so quickly and easily. I have said this about Arlovski before, he looked fantastic in his Affliction match, but that is the only fight that he has looked that good in since losing to Sylvia, all his other victories were nothing special at all. Why does this make him the next guy to possibly beat Fedor. He has not had that many really decent victories at all of late.

by Ade on Nov 18, 2008 12:48 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Not to discredit Fedor, I think he is an mma god, but Tim’s gameplan freakin blew. he might as well have put a post it on his forehead saying please knock me out. No circling, no using reach to jab and keep fedor at distance. Tim was going to lose no matter what, but probably could have lasted longer than 30 seconds.
