Wish this fight was this weekend….damn it seemed sooner than 2 1/2 months! By the way GSP is way bigger than BJ and it will show in this fight.

does anyone think its a little ridiculous that the lightweight belt wont be contested for more than a year? last time penn fought was ufc 84! kenny florian is gettting shafted big time, the lightweight belt probably wont be put on the line till like july
by brendan on Nov 17, 2008 11:25 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I think it is ridiculous. I think the lightweight division needs a champion that will defend the belt. If I’m not mistaken BJ has defended it against Sherk, won it against Stevenson. When Sherk had it before it was stripped he defended it how many times? Not many, twice at the most…This belt is lucky if it’s contested once a year.

I personally have no problem with it as long as I get to see the fights I want at 155lbs and 170lbs, right now I wanna’ see BJ VS GSP and then BJ VS Florian no matter what.
by THORAZINE on Nov 18, 2008 12:47 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
what’s the difference between the belt being held up for two of the top P4P guys in the world to fight, and the belt being held up for a gay TV show? either way, belts are held up. I wish you guys would quit bitching over fights and pay and appreciate the fights we’re getting. One of you actually said the NFL or NBA would never schedule teams to play like the UFC does fighters…no shit, what are you implying? Win or lose they should have a set “schedule” of fights, a year in advance? The UFC in my opinion are giving us as many super fights as they can, for two reasons. the fans want to see them, and they make money, quit your bitching and appreciate the fights and the fact that we saw every one of them on ppv this weekend. If you want a scripted 3 hours with no surprises, go watch wwe!

I also don’t personally have a problem with the belt being on hold either. I think Florian is the Number 2 contender still and that Sherk is the Number 1 contender but that is just my opinion. Anyway aside from those two there isn’t really a lot of guys in the LW division that could even go one round with Penn let alone five. Let Penn and GSP fight each other, give the newer LW’s sometime to mature and we’ll be having some pretty crazy LW battles sooner than you know. Nobody honestly thinks that Florian is going to take Penn do they? That was a retorical question, so lets watch someone who can actually pose a challenge to the Prodigy.
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Nov 18, 2008 7:35 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Cogito: I totally agree! IMO Penn vs. GSP 2 is as big of a fight as Fedor vs./ Couture would be. THis is a legit MEGA fight matching up 2 of the best P4P fighters on the Planet. What is even more intruiging is the FACT that both GSP and Penn are much better fighters than they were in the 1st fight which was a good one. Now they are both better fighters and its going to be a five rounder…..Cant waitr.
Kev: I have to agree that the belt being held up for a Mega fight is much better than it being held up over a reality show.
When BJ wins the welterweight title, is he going to vacate the Lightweight belt? I would like to see Florian vs. Sherk 2. i want to see just how much Kenny has improved since that fight. Kenny, like stevenson are both top fighters, but they havent shown the ability to get over the hump and defeat world class fighters like Sherk and Penn. Wow, did I just compliment sherk? lol
by john on Nov 18, 2008 10:17 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Florian is a better fighter than Sherk. The only real reason that Sherk wins most of his fights is because of his roid strength and power. There is nobody as powerful aS Sherk in that division and that is the key to his victories. Florian and Franca both lokked better than Sherk in there matches, but his roid strength saved his butt. If Florian had the same power as Sherk, Sherk would have no chance against him. Again with Lesner, if Randy had equal size strength and power of Lesner, he would have won it in the first round.

Yes its a great fight, But BJ doesn’t deserve the shot, He’s lost his most recent WW fights (2), he should have to string a couple wins together in the Weight catagory before getting an imidiate Shot. I still think he is overated and an (*).

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if BJ vacates the LW strap if he beats GSP. The you have another vacant title bout between Sherk and Flo, to decide the new champ. I think the rematch goes a little bit differently this time. Probably still with a boring Sherk win, but Kenny will do better this time.
by --utaptout-- on Nov 18, 2008 3:40 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
utaptout, I actually think Florian would beat Sherk this time around, I think Florian showed against Joe Daddy’ that he can get out from underneath just about any opponent, his wrestling escape skills have definitely improved and added tremendously to his BJJ game.
by THORAZINE on Nov 18, 2008 3:55 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I agree that Penn will probably vacate the LW title. I don’t really mind either because he would have a lot more challenges from the MW division due to size advantage not skill because I think there are plenty guys skilled at LW and MW. Also I do think Sherk would beat Florian again, not taking anything away from Joe but in a fight between Joe and Sherk I’m 100% positve that Sherk would destroy Joe. Sherk has a refined stand up and the only reason it didn’t look great was because he was standing across the ring rom Penn.
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Nov 18, 2008 7:39 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
florian demolished joe daddy. i really wanna see him beat down bj and take the belt. after gsp beats bj down hopefully this is what will happen
by bleeb on Nov 18, 2008 8:54 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
agreed but it will be worse if Kenny is asked to fight Sherk in the mean time, that would be totally unfair. Sherk vs Penn 2 is not something that I would want to see. GSP VS Penn is a great fight but it comes with a price. It would have been better if was on the Dec card. Your thoughts guys.
by Robert on Nov 18, 2008 9:35 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t think so, he’s not putting on weight for this fight, after he wins, he’ll fight kenny, then alternate defending titles!
by kevin on Nov 18, 2008 10:31 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Kevin: I think that Bj will fight Kenny, but after he whoops on Kenny, I believe that he will Vacate the title!
Much better match ups for BJ Penn at welterweight, then there are at lightweight. Does anyone really think that guys like Kenny, Sherk, Tyson griffin, JOe daddy, and other Elite lightweights stand a chance against BJ? I dont. I would much rather see him fight guys Alves, Fitch, Koschek, Diego, Yoshida, Karo!
YOur thoughts?
by john on Nov 18, 2008 10:47 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I agree, but he’s on a mission to cement himself as the best, not me saying that he is (although he very well could be), so he will defend both or move up!
by kevin on Nov 18, 2008 11:09 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Defend both? I think it’ll be a little hard to defend a title when you don’t have it! RUSH!!!
If he does beat GSP though, I think he’ll continue to defend the LW title, just to help make himself the best LW of all-time and from there move up to cement his place as the best fighter ever, which IMO he is fully capable of.
….Then again GSP 4th round tko!
by mmanutz on Nov 18, 2008 11:50 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
My man Penn always said he wants all the beltz. I think once he beats GSP, he moves up to take Silva, then Griffin, and then Lesnar. And from there he’ll defend the belts. He’ll move back down and take out Florian, and the cycle will continue.

BJ PENN VS. GEORGE “RUSH” ST PIERRE IS A HUGE FIGHT. THE LAST FIGHT WAS CRAZY AND BOTH FIGHTERS ARE BETTER THEN THEY EVER WERE. THIS FIGHT IS ACTUALLY THE MOST ANTICIPATED BATTLE (AT LEAST FOR ME) IN THE LAST TWO YEARS. KENNY FLORIAN IS GOING TO HAVE TO SIT BACK AND WAIT HIS TURN. THIS FIGHT IS WAY MORE IMPORTANT.

I lol’ed at BJ’s 9% body fat weight comment. Maybe he was also high during the conference:)
by NameNotRequired on Nov 17, 2008 11:30 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I’ve heard BJ say before he’s going to come in at his best fighting weight regardless of GSP being the bigger fighter… BJ is going to be the smaller fighter and he’ll have to give up about 15 lbs come fight night in order to be the best BJ he can be. That tire around his waist won’t help him any, so he might as well leave it behind.
GSP is going to win the takedown war n’ GnP BJ to a decision.
by THORAZINE on Nov 18, 2008 12:42 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
sholdn’t that be LnP like the first fight?
by --utaptout-- on Nov 18, 2008 3:41 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
utaptout, lol… yes LnP, GSP shouldn’t stand with BJ for 5 rounds ‘cause BJ will eventually close the gap and cut up GSP for a TKO. GSP will fight BJ a lot like he did Jon Fitch, except BJ can take a punch and not get cut or KO’d like no one else in the lighter divisions. On the other hand BJ should not look for the submission from his back, he should work on escaping and keeping it standing… if BJ can do that successfully rnd after rnd, I think he can pull off a win by forcing a standup fight IMO.
by THORAZINE on Nov 18, 2008 4:03 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I agree with you. BJ has to scramble instead of looking for subs.
by Pat on Nov 18, 2008 7:04 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
in one of those scrambles, BJ is going to use his flexibility to take gSP’s back and then ITS ALL OVER FOLKS!!!!
by john on Nov 18, 2008 10:25 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
That’s a bold prediction John, to say Penn will win by submission…GSP is very good, quick and stronger on the ground and doesn’t gas out and I think u have to add better wrestling than Penn but if anyone can sub GSP, I’d put my bet on Penn. However, I think if Penn is going to win this fight he should do everything possible to keep it on his feet. In a 5 round standup fight I think Penn wins.
by THORAZINE on Nov 18, 2008 2:48 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I think this past week we saw that there is a limit to the amount of technique that can offset athleticism. Also unlike Sherk, GSP will push BJ’s cardio and gas him out somewhere mid 2nd or early 3rd round.
by NameNotRequired on Nov 18, 2008 2:54 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
NameNotRequired, I’m almost positive Cardio won’t be a problem for BJ, unless GSP can wear BJ down with his size difference. I don’t see that happening Penn is eating and training right he has been since preparing for Pulver VS Penn and he hasn’t shown signs of gassing since.
by THORAZINE on Nov 18, 2008 6:32 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
9% is not unatainable for BJ. He won’t weigh in at 170, but he’s been pretty damn lean for his last 3 fights. He’s going to gain as much muscle as he can in the time he has, but I guarantee that he’ll be in fantastic shape for this one.
by --utaptout-- on Nov 18, 2008 3:42 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
yeah i strongly think GSPis gony be too much for penn this time around, he has improved so much asa fighter since their last fight!
BJ as good as he is wont have enough in this fight, he is pretty much the same fighter that fought GSP the last time, whereas GSP has improved leaps and bounds!
GSP by ref stoppage!!

Can you say fight of the century?! All I gotta say is if ESPN doesn’t do 91 coverage and then some for this one, I’m gonna be mad. GSP and Penn are two of the best fighters in the world, definite top 4 p4p’ers and…damn, I’m just sick of coverage only coming for Couture. GSP and Penn II deserves that much and then some and both these guys should become mainstream stars. They’re that gifted.

I am guessing for a decent seat you will pay 300-400 dollars for a good seat at face value. I paid around 300 a seat for UFC 83 and that was a hot ticket too. Get them early because they will sell out quickly and then you will pay more. You can sit in the cheap seats and watch the fight on a big screen all night for 75-150, but I would rather watch it on my home tv and pay a lot less for drinks! Good luck.

In the end BJ said he would be 165 or 175 wow!!! cutting in and out would affect your body this is too dangerous for BJ if he wins both the title. Oh by the way St. Pierre never lost a rubber match.. Plus Rush is bigger and stronger.. St. Pierre should control round 2 or three and it will be done. Winner by TKO in the third George Rush St. Pierre!

ST. Amour, as an ex-wrestler, trust me when I say this…cutting weight correctly doesn’t pose a health risk for an adult athlete, it’s just part of the sport… BJ can handle it.

FORGET UFC 91 (WHICH WAS AN AMAZING CARD) AS THE MOST HYPED/ANTICIPATED IN UFC EVENT IN HISTORY (DANA), THIS IS PERHAPS THE GREATEST MATCHUP (REMATCH) AND HAS THE MAKINGS TO BE THE BEST AND BIGGEST IN MMA HISTORY! UNLIKE THE FIRST FIGHT, BOTH ARE CURRENT REIGNING UFC CHAMPIONS AND ARE IN THEIR PRIME!!!!
CAN NOT WAIT!
I’d give it to BJ if it ends within 3, after that it goes to GSP!

by Phil from Quebec city on Nov 18, 2008 9:39 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
GSP has no confidence,he already said maybe we’ll meet again one more time after this fight! That tells me he’s thinking he might not win and a 3rd times a charm. Other than that, I think he & Bj answered all the questions accordingly, and I don’t even like GSP. They both exchanged words of respect which is nice for a change.
by WESTSIDE/OAHU on Nov 18, 2008 1:08 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
I think he said maybe we’ll meet again because itll only happen if BJ wins. If GSP wins, BJ goes back down and dominates LW until he decides to hang it up. Thats not a lack of confidence. Exactly the opposite actually.
by --utaptout-- on Nov 18, 2008 3:50 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Do you know how to read & comprehend sentences???? I just said GSP thinks thaaaaat, “G S P” meaning ""himself"" doesn’t have the confidence to win (ok) , so oviosly by saying we might meet again after this fight validates his lack of confidence (get it?). Because if GSP won a 2nd time what’s the point in fighting a 3rd. Do you under stand now?……………..(The opposite??) WTF.
by WESTSIDE/OAHU on Nov 18, 2008 1:03 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Ok WESTSIDE, I get your a BJ fan, but by your analogy since BJ said on NOV 14th, I should be the best P4P ‘IF’ I beat GSP… since BJ said ‘IF’ that means (by your analogy) that BJ doesn’t have the confidence to win, because he acknowledge there’s a chance he would lose??
C’mon… Hughes, KO’s, Serra, etc… all tried to use the GSP is scared and weak-minded routine.
BJ and GSP are being very respectful to eachother and each knows there’s a chance that the other one could win and that’s why they’re doing everything they can to prepare themselves for the fight of their lives. IT’s CALLED RESPECT!
by THORAZINE on Nov 18, 2008 6:48 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Thanks to Thorazine for clarifying what I meant.
WESTSIDE, see if you can comprehend THIS sentence. I guess you know exactly what is going to happen at 94. GSP’s sentence can be interpreted either way from either side. Giving BJ a possible chance to win this fight simply acknowledges that BJ is a talented fighter and a threat. BJ doesn’t walk around and say that there’s no chance that GSP beats him does he? WESTSIDE, You should try using a little objectivity and class when typing your responses. I’m a huge BJ fan, having trained in BJJ for a long time. You can be objective and still be a fan, and not get all butt-hurt when someone raises a very slight debate over something you typed. Its fans that act like you that make people think BJ’s fans are ignorant. Do YOU understand now?
by --utaptout-- on Nov 18, 2008 10:31 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Hey,I didn’t say anything disrespectful.I just said that I don’t think GSP has the confidence in my own opinion, that’s all.Your the one who replied back to me & not the other way around. Its more like your the one who’s butt hurt not me.I also can’t tell you the future. All’s I know is that BJ’s gonna come out on top…This is for the both of ya’s right above me.

Why would GSP want to fight him a 3rd time if GSP wins 2 straight fights against Bj? Whats the point??? Do you honestly think Bj’s stupid enough to say,“I want one more shot, the first 2 fights was luck ,let me try one more time please”.Are you high? BJ has more respect for GSP then that. If bj loses he knows that’s it!, there’s no 3rd shot if he loses & that’s why he has to win…It’s just common sense, some thing you don’t have.

It’s the same scenario with Silva Vs Rampage. Why is it okay for Silva to be willing to take him on a 3rd time even though he demolished Rampage twice? Timing and marketability.
by Nhuey on Nov 18, 2008 5:52 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I think Its because it was a different organization when they fought twice.I don’t think they would have gone at it a 3rd time if they were still in pride.

This is the greatest match up in UFC history. Two of the pound for pound best in the world, fighting in their prime, to earn the right to be called a legend. If this fight comes even close to its potential, we’ll all remember it forever. I’m cheering for GSP, but if its close, and it may well be, both these guys deserve serious mainstream recognition. There is no loser in a dream fight like this.
Hopefully GSP will end the fight in impressive fashion and get the opportunity to take on Anderson Silva. St. Pierre wants to be a legend. Beating Penn and Silva is the best way to accomplish that.
Can’t wait for Jan. 31st. The UFC gets better every year.

BJ said he was going to be in at 9% body fat – it could be 165 or 170 he said the day of the match.
Obviously, GSP cuts weight to make the 170 limit. I’m guessing he would weigh ~ 180 the day of the fight. That could be a 15 pound weight difference.
I say GSP via split decision.

BOBC, GSP has always been standoffish’ with his opponents, he’s not disrespectful, but he’s weary of the ‘FIGHT’ and the pressure is always with him around his opponents… his flight or fight syndrome is activated and that’s the way he deals with it. Don’t read that as weakness as past opponents have, it’s a mistake and underestimation of GSP. Not all fighters can be relaxed like Couture or opponent bashing like Tito.

Like they do several times a year? They are doing three in Dec. and two in January. Don’t worry, you’ll get some.

For some reason I think BJ Penn is going to win this fight. Not sure, he has just looked so good in his fights and he looks so determined. I think he has the potential to knock GSP out.
In saying this, I really want GSP to win. Purely for the reason that I want to see him destroy Anderson Silva.
White has gone on record saying there is no way BJ will be fighting Anderson if he gets by GSP.
(Mania: great topic coverage this week, very nice)
by DownUnder on Nov 18, 2008 4:01 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
BJ has looked so good in his previous fights partly because he has been fighting mediocre competition. Sherk, Stevenson and Pulver are not studs in this sport and beating them will do little to prepare BJ for a fight with GSP. You could line those 3 up and GSP would beat them all, back to back, in less time it took BJ to put Sherk away.
by stevo on Nov 18, 2008 9:12 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
maybe you forgot that sherk already fought gsp and it went to decision.
by pandaboy on Nov 18, 2008 12:15 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Sorry but GSP TKO’d him halfway through round 2.
by stevo on Nov 18, 2008 12:22 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Pandaboy, I think you’re thinking of a different GSP, and a different sherk, because The Real GSP, gave the real sherk a beating so bad, that sherk had his nuts’n’bolts permanently shook loose.
by GodDamnMike on Nov 18, 2008 2:10 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
LOL pandaboy. GSP broke Sherk’s will in their fight.

florian shouda been fighting bj,but pierre is a better draw,bj has beaten sherk, stevenson, pulver not bad,but gsp has beaten huges, kos, sera, fitch much tougher competition,bj has a chance but i thnk gsp will be too much for him too handle and bj will have to shut his mouth after gsp owns him,and ultimate takedown championships, take a loss with sum dignity a win is a win,and compare ther records gsps stands out much more,he is truly the better fighter
by keyboardwarrrior on Nov 18, 2008 8:09 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
GSP a better fighter? Yeah right!LOL, wow he had to fight a washed up Hughes & Sera TWICE to get a win from them. Because why? He doesn’t know WTF he’s doing & had to retrain for them! Kos & Fitch are nothing compared to Bj.So Sherk,Joe daddy,& Pulver-you GSP fan’s were talking like these guy’s was gonna make Bj retire. Now your saying they were just ok fighters? C’mon give me a break! When GSP starts fighting guy’s like the Gracies, the Caol Uno’s out there,Duane Lugwid who easily walked right through Pulver,Din Thomas, etc then you can start talking shit about who’s record is better!

Look at the comment above mine,I’m just repeating what the guy said.(Bj’s past wins were too “not bad” kinda fighters).Dude I remember all you guys saying Joe daddy & Sherk were unstoppable & was gonna kill BJ, but it didn’t happen that way.So now the only redemption is to down play Bj’s fights.I have never seen more sore losers then on this page………Unreal.

GSP will come out on top cause he trains with different people and he travels all around the world to learn MMA and to further his skill. BJ don’t know anything new. BJ would not throw no high kicks cause he doesnt practice it.. SO GSP by leg kick KO in the 3rd. GSP!!!! GSP

uhhhh maybe leg kicks will stop a fight, but i wouldnt count on it in this fight. maybe if u put a drunk bum in there against gsp, he’d be too stupid to move away, but i wouldnt think bj would just stand there.

by gsp4life on Nov 21, 2008 3:29 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
He doesnt throw them cause kicks lead to take downs, one of the main reason he naver goes down is because he is so cautious on his feet watching for takedowns. George will find this out on Jan 31st, so will you i guess.

Penn is a really great fighter, although his head is in the clouds. His chance of winning is only if GSP doesn’t show up. GSP will ridicule him in this fight and use him as a stepping stone to cement his Legacy. After Rush’s TKO over Penn in the 3rd or 4th, then I guess it’ll be Alves (who is tougher than Penn anyway). And adamg, it’s not just kicks that lead to takedowns, when fighting GSP, it’s literally anything! Punches, kicks, you name it. Heck, even if penn goes for a takedown, he’ll get taken down. Thee GSP will not be beaten for quite a while. We all know that it’s penn’s massive popularity, and marketability that allow this fight to happen. penn will find that out Jan 31st, so will you I guess.

Hey ((AdamG)).Are you from the Hawaiian Islands? Usually only Hawaii based people defend Bj that much. Or do you just think he’s that good? Just one local boy asking the reason behind the super strong Bj support? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to,you don’t owe any body anything. ..I personally think he’s just that good plus local people tend to back up their own.Example, Barack Obama,Bonga Perkins"2008 long board surfing champ",Shane Victorino “2008 World Series Champion”etc.Hawaii people got a lot of pride.

Hes just that good. Im from california. Ive been a penn fan since the LTWT tournament when he decisioned Serra and Drawed with Uno, then went out and smashed Ludwig and Gomi and Hughes and then a Gracie, i was hooked, plus watching the fights i had missed of his with Pulver Thomas Uno and a bunch of online BJJ vids of tournys and etc of BJ, some Grapplers quest and On The Mat DVDs i was sold for life. And now he is finaly about to let me say “i told you so” to all those nay sayers out ther (cuogh Gord cough cough PJJ cough St Amour cough) Im stoked!!! BJ BJ BJ!!! Thats all man, hes the best, i know it and believe it strongly. Anybody anytime, f’n crazy, cant wait!!!!

Yea when BJ took Jans 5 rounds and then Jans left the UFC plus BJ had already KO’d 2 out of the 3 other people in that LTWT tourny i saw him as the fav and have ever since, he didnt do much in that tourny though, but he did soon after = ) I was worried just after Penn beat Renzo about where Penn would end up or if he would just drift off in the distance with guys like Tank Abbot, Frank Shammy, and others. I was worried i wouldnt see him fight anymore, 5 fights (one being a long overdue battle with Pulver) and a season as a coach on the ultimate fighter plus a new title to add to the trophy room later and here we are, his website is excellent (GSP fans wished George gave them as much interesting footage and behind the scenes vids that BJ delivers via his website) He is in shape like i never thought id see after he faught Renzo and won (i thought he would want to continue to be lazy and fight some ok 185ers just so he didnt have to be in shape) Now he is in the conversation with the best P4Pers in the world ya know, im stoked!!! I though my DVD collection was pretty much, collected LoL. But now i look forward to so many fights, and maybe a season or two more as a coach o nthe TUF show would be cool, to build up to GSP3 would be dope! But its finaly here my friend, GSPENNII, BJ looks good in his training vids, everything looks great, BJ BJ BJ!!! and much thanks for the Hawaiian love, its returned my friend. WARRRRRRRRRRR PEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!

Your face would be busted up to if you were fighting with only one eye…that eye poke is the only thing you Penn fans can hold on too “oh is face was busted up” give me a break morons…do you actually train and fight or do you only jack off and type on your keyboards??..that won’t happen again….GSP will dominate this fight, he knows this is the biggest fight of his career…until he fights the spider AFTER HE KNOCKS PORKY PENN THE FVCK OUT!!!!!!!LOL….CAN’T WAIT
by savage on Nov 18, 2008 9:36 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Just cause Rogan called it a poke you GSP fans call it a poke, Rogan also calls it a Knuckle . . . That would be a knuckle at the end of a fist right? Like as in a punch right? No such thing as a black eye now a days huh, if the eye is hit its a “poke”, rediculous. Look at BJ’s striking recoed dude, look at the eyes of all his opponents after the fights, sherk all cut up under both eyes, pulve damaged around the eys, hughes, george, gomi, hes accurate but lets hold that against him right, lame. George will have 2 fresh eyes to start this one with so no eye poke b.s. BJ BJ BJ!!!

GET HIM, ADAM!!! lol…I watched the 1st fight again the other day and Ive been meaning to mention that the replay doesnt show any finger going into the eye. GSP fans can hang onto that one (and believe me they will), until BJ beats him. Then they’ll find some other excuse as to why GSP has a face that looks like it had a run-in with Edward Scissorhands, and goes to the hospital while BJ is puffing away with his buddies and his shiny new belt.
by --utaptout-- on Nov 18, 2008 10:53 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
WORD! BJ throws a nice combonation in that replay which he has both fists closed the entire time, but if rogan says it, it must be true. Him and Goldy also said that GSP had just scord his first points of the fight sometime in the 2nd round after a take down and a head kick by GSP (so those punches om the ground were obviously not the first points scord by George in the fight) but us Penn fans dont say anything cause we know George had already scored points. Just cause the commentators say it in theirt first reaction doesnt make it so, Joe also called it a knuckle after seeing the combination from Penn in the replay.

If Penn is so fat and porky why is this the biggest fight of Georges career . . .You GSPers know your full of sh*t and your house of cards built on take downs is about to come down courtesy of a knee a la BJ Penn!
by ( (AdamG ) ) on Nov 18, 2008 9:55 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
This is the reason you think BJ has a chance. If you realized it was a FORTRESS built on the most well rounded fighter in MMA, then you would know where the GSPers are coming from.

I own that DVD and have watched the fight a bunch of times..I even slowed it down…it is similar to Anthony Johnson vs Kevin Burns, except he didn’t get cut on his eye by the nail like Johnson did….try re-watching it on a real TV and not on your piece of $hit computer….Penn is fat because…..well he is, and this is the biggest fight of GSP’s career because Porky Pig called him out…besides I never said BJ wasn’t a great fighter cuz he is…Just not good enough to take the WW strap from GSP…GSP! GSP! GSP! GSP!

It seems like the penn fans are a lot more passionate than the gsp fans are on this site (adam g)(westside/oaho). “IF” its a normal night not some quite ko or some injury this fight should be a battle by my calculations and very competitive. Both fighters are very talented, they both have advantages in certain areas on each other. I’ve learned a long time ago you shouldn’t put all your eggs in one basket and to guarantee one beats the other is ridiculous, especially at these guys level. Some of the comments on this site are idiotic, serra was a ten to 1 underdog with gsp and tko’d him in the first round almost nobody gave serra a chance. Its not a testament to gsp’s poor fighting abilities its just that nothing is fore sure in MMA. And to say two fighters similar in size very talented top mma fighters, it will be a one sided fight is just ignorant. I’ll be rooting for gsp, but this fight could go either way. Anderson silva getting tko’d is one of the few things that would truly shock me. Seeing chuck liddel get KO’d by rashad surprised me. In my “opinion” I think gsp has the edge in this fight but know very well penn might beat him but really doubt he would if it goes to a decision. Gsp either tko’s penn or wins a decision or penn tko’d gsp or subs him thats how I see the fight ending. My prediction is gsp via decision.

gonna be a great fight. though penn is a smaller opponent he is the best to fight gsp right now and theres really no one who i see beating bj at 155 at the moment anyway. florian is a good fighter done get me wrong but hes not great. bj is a smart fighter who is finally trainging correct. if u ask me i see penn finishing off gsp which would only set up a future match between the two and what i think would be the best trilogy in mma history thus far.
by martin on Nov 21, 2008 1:27 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
if bj wins this fight he will then drop down to 155 to take on kenny in like 4 or five months time while in the shadows at 170 the pitbull waits for his shot at the belt the way it is going if bj beats it might take nearly a year before the 170 lb belt get defended again which would suck majorly because i think pitbull alves poses a problem to anyone in the 170 pound division because this kid is getting better and better and he is even a bigger welter weight than st pierre. any replies anyone on alves vs gsp or alves vs bj????
