WEC medical suspensions and injuries for 'Faber vs Brown'

The Florida State Boxing Commission recently issued its medical suspensions for the WEC 36 event that took place this past Wednesday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., on November 5, revealing that seven fighters in all will have to sit out of action.
New featherweight champion Mike Brown has been suspended indefinitely because of some torn cartilage between in his ribs that he suffered during his main event win over Urijah "The California Kid" Faber. He'll have to get clearance from a doctor before he can return to competition.
Here’s the complete list of injuries and their medical instructions:
Mike Brown — Out indefinitely with torn rib cartilage. He'll need clearance from a doctor to return to the cage
Urijah Faber — "The California Kid" will be out of action for 30 days following his technical knockout loss
Jens Pulver – Out for 30 days following his technical knockout loss to Leonard Garcia
Nissen Osterneck — Out for 30 days following his technical knockout loss to Jake Rosholt
Jonathan Brookins — Out for 30 days following his technical knockout loss to Jose Aldo
Rafael Dias — Out for 30 days following his technical knockout loss to Danny Castillo
David Avellan — Out for 60 days following his knockout loss to Aaron Simpson
Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.

Where in the fight did Brown get his rib cartilage torn?…In any case, sick knockout of the California Kid!

he torn his rib in the first minute of the fight… not that the fight lasted much longer than that lol… no idea how he did it, maybe in a scramble or something, but if faber didnt get caught so early that injury would have definitely played a factor in the fight

nah, faber needs an immediate rematch. this was his fight easy. 9 out of 10 times he wins this.

I would say 50-50. You can never really tell when it comes to MMA. And if you say that it’s 9 times out of 10, then why did Urijah lose the 1st time? Nice odds you’ve got then!

check the replay – uriah jumped into his fist. brown wasn’t even extended! on top of that, uriah wasn’t even looking. uriah lost, not because of brown being better, but because of uriah being stupid. if he wouldn’t have lunged off the cage, brown would have been done. his rib issue screwed him over baaaad.

Faber gave Brown two good knees to the ribs. At first, you can tell Brown slightly favored his left side, but since the fight was on, adrenaline, etc… he kept going. Notice when he caught Urijah, that Brown wasn’t even looking at him. His head was to Urijah’s right side and looking down. Lucky freakin punch. He wouldn’t have answered the bell going into rd 2. FAber still ROCKS!!!!

Does the Florida Stae Commission not have any psychiatrists on their payroll? How Filho could not be indefinitely suspended is beyond me.

I was at the fight and it seems Brown left the arena before the athletic commission could test him. he was asked to drop a urine and left anyway, then later at the hospital he was asked for a urine sample and left again. I am not saying he was doping, but he might be getting his title stripped anyway. just like if refuse a sobriety test it is an automatic guilty. You heard it here first!
