The really need to find a way to air Rani vs. Maeda. Fight of the night along with Garcia vs. pulver!

Is that really the line for Filho after he came in 7 lbs heavier? I might have to throw a lil bit on him for that reason, even though part of me wants to see his ass beat for not making weight.

by c-war on Nov 5, 2008 11:06 AM EST up reply actions

-130, not +130, not much value here

by Darryl Foy on Nov 5, 2008 11:17 AM EST up reply actions

-130 is still a decent payout for someone undefeated and is 7 lbs heavier

by c-war on Nov 5, 2008 12:13 PM EST up reply actions

I agree, but lately his head worries me!!
I like ball st. tonight john, over both college games!

by kevin on Nov 5, 2008 12:15 PM EST up reply actions

@john

I couldnt agree more. Maeda is always fun to watch. That dude is totally rad. Wasnt his fight with Torres on short notice?

by enzo-enormous on Nov 5, 2008 12:46 PM EST up reply actions

I see Filho coming in 7 pounds over as a HUGE disadvantage for him. I would attribute it to him not being in shape and not to him being even bigger and stronger. I think Sonnen is going to win their fight, but I would feel even better about it if it was going to be 5 rounds because I think Filho is going to gas.

by GregC on Nov 5, 2008 1:26 PM EST up reply actions

enzo, I believe it was on short notice and you are right. That dude is very exciting and he is a GAMER!

good luck Kev

Not betting this event. Too Tough to predict most of these fights. I will prolly just bet a $50 parlay on Urijah/Cerrone/Rosholt and call it a night.

big Betting planned for UFC 91, so I will take it easy for this event

by john on Nov 5, 2008 10:44 AM EST reply actions

I was thinking same thing John, but there isn’t really a bet that will pay anything! I’ll stick to football since it’s on every day!

by kevin on Nov 5, 2008 10:55 AM EST up reply actions

yeah the best bet is to just sit this event out.

Generally speaking Kevin, how do you do with Betting football? I had to give it up, as fun as it was I used to take a beating!

by john on Nov 5, 2008 10:58 AM EST up reply actions

I got a site cover.com, a forum like this with handicappers telling their leans, check it out. I’ve been splitting a lot, and paying the vig. Having an ok year, not what I wanted though. I’ve won 2 poker tournament in the past 10 days though. I gamble almost everyday…my wife is sick of it, but since I always have cash on hand and m playing with house money, she can’t say much. I bet small through betus 100 a game usually 5 games a night, and bigger through a book. NBA last night was good to me, celtics/over.

by kevin on Nov 5, 2008 11:08 AM EST up reply actions

I actually like NBA and I have found success but football really used to kill me. I will check out that site though. Appreciate it and good luck to you and all the gamblers out there!

I still feel that mma has got to be the easiest sport to bet on, over the period of a year.

Betting March madness is also a helluva time!

by john on Nov 5, 2008 3:04 PM EST up reply actions

the only negative of mma is the lines usually don’t pay, and if a dog wins, and you bet the favorite, you open yourself up to a big loss!

by kevin on Nov 5, 2008 3:08 PM EST up reply actions

THats why I said mma is the best over the period of a year because most informed gamblers like us, wont suffer to many monumental upsets in which the favorite looses and you are down a ton of cash. I get hit with about 3 of those a year, but Overall the money I win on the favorites on a consistent basis, makes me even….and the money I make on the DOGS, put me nicely over the top!

Feel me Kev?

by john on Nov 5, 2008 3:37 PM EST up reply actions

yeah john, I get what you’re saying, but for me, picking a -600 faber makes no sense. even if I put sonnen or fihlo and pulver and parlay it, I need to hit all 3 and it pays 2-1. straight bet I got to put 600 to win 100, so max bet on betus would be 3000/500. if it’s an upset I just lost 3k and only could win 500.
to me gambling is my spending/pocket money, so I really weigh the risk vs. the reward. for example, randy couture, win or lose has great value!

by kevin on Nov 5, 2008 3:41 PM EST up reply actions

I get your method. I guess we view it differently so to each his own. I dont like to take to many -400 Favorites, but (For Example) when BJ Penn is fighting in my eyes its as safe as a sure thing. I had ZERO doubt that he would beat Sherk so I have to bet big on favorites like that. My money in the betting account that I use isn’t a tangable asset for me as you know. I have won money on about 40 UFC events and I have still yet to ever take a dollar out. So its a different situation for me then it is you. If I was betting pocket money, I would be like you and not take as many dumb risks betting favorites. I have to be careful that I dont start treating my account like monopoly money because it is not Tangable…Thats when I start betting stupid and I take a hit.

I would love to bet on 1 more upset by Couture, but I hate that Greedy, NOgueira Ducking, senile old man, and I dont want to have to root for him….SO WAR BROCK!!!!!

by john on Nov 5, 2008 3:53 PM EST up reply actions

I definitely see your method bud, and you’re right, with me gambling on every sport plus poker every day, my money is always coming and going (more coming, but some weeks get bad). My betus account isn’t big, but hopefully after the next few nights (college football and nba) I’ll be cashing 5k out of it and still leave quite a bit to put on couture. I’ll be calling them to see about a larger than 500 bet, usually they’ll comply!

Leonard Garcia at +150 has some great value

by Darryl Foy on Nov 5, 2008 11:31 AM EST reply actions

Garcia and McCullough are worth small underdog plays, but that’s about it. And I think and hope that Sonnen completely destroys Filho, so he too would be a good bet at the standard 10 percent vig.

by PW on Nov 5, 2008 1:19 PM EST up reply actions

donald cerrone is going to kill razor rob!

by brendan on Nov 5, 2008 2:06 PM EST up reply actions

Is there anybody that can clarify things a little for me. I understand who is the favorite by the odds but thats about it. for example the Faber fight…. I see he is a big favorite but thats about all I know. So if I put $100 on Brown and he does win how do the odds work for that payout? Thanks

by Bucho on Nov 5, 2008 11:56 AM EST reply actions

you’d win 300

by kevin on Nov 5, 2008 12:07 PM EST up reply actions

you’d win 300 bucho.
don’t waste the 100 buddy!!

by kevin on Nov 5, 2008 12:19 PM EST up reply actions

I hope Bucho didn’t listen to kevin.

Easy money with Garcia last night, easy money

by Darryl Foy on Nov 6, 2008 8:57 AM EST up reply actions

I knew someone would say this…good post!

by kevin on Nov 6, 2008 10:34 AM EST up reply actions

very nice, I managed to get Chael at +185 a few weeks back. HA!

by O damn he got caught on Nov 5, 2008 12:35 PM EST reply actions

I’m leaning towards a parlay with sonnen in it, but even with pulver and faber in it, it won’t pay!

by kevin on Nov 5, 2008 12:37 PM EST up reply actions

You definitely got in at the right time for that one!

by GregC on Nov 5, 2008 1:29 PM EST up reply actions

you guys realize that ots of people are betting couture!! the line moved !

by kevin on Nov 5, 2008 12:42 PM EST reply actions

Good, I am betting that Couture gets DONKEY KONGED!!!!!

by john on Nov 5, 2008 3:39 PM EST up reply actions

you see, lesner has good value too john, thats a no brainer fight to bet no matter who you pick, the line is right on!

by kevin on Nov 5, 2008 3:43 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah you r right. Fights like that are great because you get to bet on who you want to root for without wagering more money then you bet, no matter which fighter you pick! I would bet on fights like this one ALL DAY!!!

by john on Nov 5, 2008 4:11 PM EST up reply actions

not much good betting on this card, should be great one to watch though!
