Brock Lesnar talks Randy Couture, UFC 91 as tonight's featured guest on Pro MMA Radio

UFC heavyweight superstar Brock Lesnar will be tonight’s featured guest on MMAmania.com’s exclusive presentation of Pro MMA Radio airing at 9pm ET.
With less than two weeks to go before his epic showdown with UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture at UFC 91, Lesnar breaks down his training for the fight, his thoughts on 'The Natural' and his shot at the title.
Also, go behind the scenes of Brock’s ESPN E:60 appearance and get his reaction to the Herring fight and post-fight celebration as well as the UFC interim heavyweight title fight between Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
But first, MMA supertrainer and author of the book "Training for Warriors", Martin Rooney joins the show to talk about why so many fights are going to a decision or turning into stand-up battles and what can be done to turn things back up a notch and put that edge back into MMA.
Hosted by Larry Pepe, Pro MMA Radio is professional, guest-driven program that features some of mixed martial arts biggest names.
If you’re looking for a radio show that revolves around a couple of MMA fans ranting and raving about everything that’s already been covered ad nauseam, then Pro MMA Radio probably isn’t for you.
However, if you want to hear from actual fighters and industry insiders answering questions that are relevant to the current MMA scene, tune in every Monday night at 9pm ET for our exclusive live feed.
See you tonight!

The 1st radio Ques should be; “Brock.. there’s a lot of speculation by fans that your size and massive strength has been linked to steroids use can you comment on that”?
by THORAZINE on Nov 3, 2008 2:06 PM EST up reply actions
hahahaha that would be the end of the interview right there. Make that the last question.

Actually, he is usually very humble and respectful. Yeah I would like to hear it.

I think Couture will win this fight if he is the same fighter that fought Sylvia and Gonzaga (obviously with a different strategy). If age finally shows, then I think Couture will lose to Brock in a damaging fashion. It just depends on which fighters show up. I am certainly not ruling out the idea that Brock will bring an improved MMA arsenal as well.

randy is the greatest of all time but this is gona be boring if they should go to the ground, becuase brock is just gonna lay-n-pray for 25 mins to pull off a boring victory
YOU REALLY think brock wants to get hit by randy! he has a game plan and thats to lay n pray
by big shot BOB! on Nov 3, 2008 11:04 AM EST up reply actions
I doubt that Brock is scared to get hit by Randy. Randy has NEVER been known for his KO power. His overhand right to begin the Sylvia fight was probably the biggest punch of his life. I can see Lesnar getting his with a kitchen sink and then laugh. I don’t think Randy has what it takes to KO Brock. Actually, I don’t even think Randy can GnP Brock to end the fight, unless he really utilizes the elbows in the later rounds because early on, even if Brock does go to his back, he will muscle himself out of that position.
by ViolentMike on Nov 3, 2008 3:09 PM EST up reply actions
Brock hasn’t really been hit in MMA yet. Taking punches from Randy, especially through GnP, could really throw Brock off. And although Brock looks as if he’s built to take a punch (I am referring to the size of his head and small neck) we still haven’t seen if he has a solid chin or not. I agree with you that Brock is probably not very worried about getting hit though. He had just better be prepared for it.

RyanHobbs I’ve mentioned this in a few posts glad to see someone else asking this big Ques… Brock was awfully quick to tap out from Mir’s anklelock and that’s the only time we’ve seen Brock in trouble.
If Couture can weather the storm, we’ll see Brock in a different kind of trouble. Will Brock have have the mental maturity to handle himself through tough spots?
Lesnar may be good only as a front runner and may eventually be exposed as such. Couture needs to punch Brock in the nose..lol. However, if not Couture eventually someone else will even up with him that is just mentally tougher, and that’s all it will take IMO at this time.

Brock may prove to have a chin, but does he have a heart when punched and dizzy or in a submission?

I got randy winning
and thing kenny will finish this fight!
by kevin on Nov 3, 2008 11:08 AM EST up reply actions
i see a decision in the kenny fight and he will have to drop his “i finish fights” line.

I don’t think Coture will lose, he is super smart and a nutritional zealot to boot. The guy beat Tim Sylvia, the “ice-man” and is in fighting shape 365 days a year. I do not think age is a factor, in stamina but age makes his mental game the most matured of any fighter in MMA. Brocks striking looks soo goofy, when he knocked down Heath Herring (I can’t stand that guy) he telegraphed it from a mile away. I am concerned about the 40lb difference in weight, especially if and when it goes to the ground. Brock does have nuclear power and he wrestled in college quite succuessfully. I think I am gonna parlay a substantial bet on Kenny Flo and Coture. Captain America shows that Brock does Yeild.
OUT

As big as he is I don’t see Brock winning this one. He is too green in this sport and although Randy is close to the end of his career he is always usually focused with a clear gameplan that he executes to a tee. It will be very interesting never the less.
I know Dana wants Brock to win this one cos then it saves him from trying to get Fedor back which I dont see happening but if Dana got his head from out of his arse he might just realise that Fedor would make the most exciting HW division the UFC has ever seen!!
by Ca$z on Nov 3, 2008 11:27 AM EST reply actions
I hate to see it but Lesnar by UD after a borefest of lay and pray wrestling. He’s too big. I hope I’m wrong on that though. Then after Nog takes out Mir I have him subbing Lesnar and “unifying” the belts.
by Aaron_W on Nov 3, 2008 1:12 PM EST reply actions
Lets say randy gets past brock then mir or nog, what would need to happen so us fans could see a fedor/randy fight? UFC is my favorite mma organization and for me it sucks that in my eyes the best HW ever is not in the UFC.
by rydinlow on Nov 3, 2008 1:40 PM EST reply actions
Don’t worry Dana said " Brock Lesnar could be the best heavyweight ever " so if you like the UFC you have the best HW you just don’t know it yet…

I have called every single one of Randy’s fights perfectly for the last 5 years or so. This one really throws me off tho for some reason. I knew exactly what he needed to do to win before, (I called Chucky KO’ing him tho) but I really dont know what he can do to Brock. Brock on the ground will beat Randy on the ground. His best chance is to stay away from Brock. If he can do that and land some real stunners, then he can win. I just cant picture him winning this one tho.
Brock with the win

Brock Sounded A Bit Racist With His Little If I Was A Big Black chiseled Guy I Wouldnt Be Getting Asked If I Was On Steroids But Since Im A Big White guy I Do…
Then Again When He Got Asked So Are You Referring To Blacks Guys Having Better Genes In The Muscle Catorgory …He Again Says No
Wonder WHat This Is Gonna Stir Up
by Hotdamn on Nov 3, 2008 10:23 PM EST reply actions
I don’t believe it was racist at all. To the contrary. Brock was making a point that those who pose that question would be far less likely to ask it of a black athlete. Probably a valid point.
