Lesnar is the man! Really looking forward to this event. Would have been nice to throw another superfight on the card. Lesnars right, what heavyweight would turn down this fight?

an ole man vs a wwe star,
i wouldn’t buy it,
i would rather see it later online
i’m a hardcore fan but this is a boring card

You are not a hardcore fan if you think this is an old man vs a wwe star… Lesnar is a legit HW contender (maybe not #1, but a contender) and Couture is one of the greatest of all time!

I’m with you triangle….Like Lesnar said who the hell would turn down a fight like this. This card is boring? Kenny Florian vs. Joe Stevenson, Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Josh Hendricks,Demian Maia vs. Nate Quarry ,Dustin Hazelett vs. Tamdan McCrory. Even if you don’t like the main event….. every one of those fights have a crap load of potential to be great fights. Especially Hazelett vs. McCrory.

I second this second. 91 is going to be a fun night of fights. Personally, I can’t wait to see McLovin’ vs. The Barn Cat. That is going to be a war. And Mia and Gonzaga should be a couple good fights. I hope Florian finishes but he will likely put on another clinic. I do think the main event may be a bit of a mismatch but, seriously, “old man vs. WWE star”? What kind of “hardcore fan” are you? Try Legend vs. The Future of the Division.

U guys do realize that the BarnCat vs. McLovin might not even be aired?

Brock is the Man, I hope to see his first slam be against Couture! I would really like to see Randy pounded out into retirement.
Randy doesnt want to fight Nogueira…..so he shouldnt be fighting at all!
Retire him BROCK!!!!!

This card is not stacked as usual because the UFC knows that the main event will sell the event all by itself. We are lucky to be getting Florian/Stevenson on this card.
McLovin/Barncat better make the televised portion, maybe we will all get lucky and while getting out of the shower, Josh Hendricks slips and falls back into obscurity and we never see him in the UFC. Seriously, his 3 toughest opponents to date are Travies Wiuff, Sam Hoger, and Tom Murphy. He LOST all 3 of those fights. He is currently on a nice win streak but he has been beating up single father Soccer-Dad’s at biker conventions.
My boss is out all week so I look forward to possibly having more time to post this week.
Look out for the ViolentOne!!!!!!!!!

Lookin forward to it VM!
Its really a joke to televise the Gonzaga fight instead of fight of the night: Mclovin vs. Barn Cat! Idiotic if you ask me.
McLovin’s fights NEED to be aired…he is a star in the making with his always improviong stand up and his top shelf Jits….He has been getting publicity in the UFC recently, but now they stick him on the undercard? Makes NO sense to me!

A hardcore fan but you dont like this fight? Are you serious? Randy Couture at 45 is 10 times the fighter of most 10 years younger then him! He may be the smartest fighter out there. If Randy thinks he can win,I’m behind him all the way. As for Lesnar,I cant stand his attitude and lack of respect for other fighters. I have to give him the credit that he is extremely powerful, fast, and as good as wrestler as there is.His WWE background gives him a bad wrap. He one day may be the best there is but he has work to do.He will make a mistake, then Randt will take advantage of it.I for one am very excited to see this fight.

QUICK QUESTION: I remember hearing that the UFC was going to be doing a multiple part countdown for this fight. Similar to the HBO Mayweather/De La Hoya 24/7 series. I know I read it somewhere on this site, but not sure if it was a post or a comment. If they are going to be doing this, I’d imagin that the first of the episodes should be airing soon.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON THIS???

Ha Ha, I thought you might be looking for me. I think this is gonna be a great card for any MMA fan. A ton of great matchups – even the Lesnar/Couture fight. I’m sure you know who I want to win – but stylistically, its a dream. Strength vs experience/technique. I personally think Coutures gameplan is to go for the take down right away (maybe circle a bit, use his footwork) – take the freight train off its rails. Whether he can control him and not end up on his back is the question. But like I said on my last post – you talked me into being open minded to Lesnar as a fighter, and I will. I just need to stop watching him speak – than maybe I could actually like him ;)
by Casey on Nov 3, 2008 12:23 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Haha….likewise, I knew you would find me here. I think we are all going to enjoy these fights very much. Make sure to get back with me after the fight and we can discuss the outcomes. Glad to see you opened your mind a bit. I like Lesnar and see a shitload of potential in him but you can’t ever count Randy out.I think you are 100% right about Randy’s gameplan.

On the fence with this one. Lesnar is so huge and quick, but during the whole Herring fight, I remember thinking, Coutre would have already ripped one of those legs off. Great fight either way IMO.

Randy only has a couple submission wins, and they were chokes. But then again, Randy doesn’t have to work from his guard in very many of his fights.
by ViolentMike on Nov 3, 2008 9:29 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Right on VM. Based on Randy’s track history, he’s twice as likely to lose by sub than to win by sub.
by PW on Nov 3, 2008 9:51 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I am very curious to see what strategy couture has, he really surprised me with the one against gonzaga with all that control against the fence and the dirty boxing…
by shamo84 on Nov 2, 2008 9:01 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Couture may be the only guy that can keep a fight with Lesnar standing… I’m sure he will (or at least try to) and out point him with his footwork, leg kicks, and overall striking ability
by 1-0 via Arm Triangle on Nov 2, 2008 9:10 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
You may be right about Couture being able to keep the fight standing but you saw where Mir ended up when he threw a leg kick. I can honestly say that I think the difference here is Brock’s speed and power. Randy has the experience and intestinal fortitude to pull this out though. It’s a tough one to call but I think I am leaning a little towards Brock in this one.
by Psyqo78®™ on Nov 2, 2008 10:03 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I think this fight takes place wherever Brock wants it. He has such ridiculous speed and power that if he decides to take someone down they really won’t be able to do a thing about it.

So you’re saying you don’t like him much?
I’m not much of a fan either but I do see a ton of potential in him. Once he loses the immaturity and has his ego knocked down a few pegs and loses the WWE theatrics, he could be great!
by JRK on Nov 3, 2008 1:35 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
For some reason I see brock going in for a huge takedown and randy moves out of the way rocks him with a nice punch and finishes him, that probly won’t happen but it popped up in my head a few times hah
by Jared on Nov 2, 2008 10:10 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I can see randy trying to be a matador….. but matador’s die too. It isn’t always the bull. I just hope Randy doesn’t get hurt badly in this fight.
by Psyqo78®™ on Nov 2, 2008 10:21 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Jared, I dont’ see that happening unfortunatley. I’d love it if it did, but it won’t. Lesnar’s head may be too big for one of Randy’s punches to really rock him. Plus, while charging in for a takedown, it would most likely have to be a knee that would catch Brock, or an awkward uppercut.
The atmosphere at the arena and in many rooms where the PPV is being watched will be electic! I know it will be at my house!

Brock is gonna show Randy what’s up! he’ll dominate the standup and everything it’s physically impossible for Randy to beat Lesnar..
by RoB on Nov 2, 2008 11:28 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
That’s just a horribly uninformed comment. Have you ever even seen Randy fight? He’s made a career out of being the underdog, beating guys bigger, faster and younger than him for the past 10 yrs. And what have you seen of Lesnar that makes you think his stand up is good? You watch a lot of WWE don’t you?
by Phil on Nov 3, 2008 12:41 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
What have you seen of Lesnar that tells you his stand up isn’t any good? I believe that Lesnar’s standup is as good as it needs to be right now. He is extremely fast, powerful and accurate (from what we have seen). However,You can’t count Randy out….ever. I think that Casey’s post above was correct as far as Randy’s strategy goes. Regardless this fight is eventually hitting the canvas so one of them needs to establish dominance in that region. And I have never watched the WWE or any of that for any matter.
by Psyqo78®™ on Nov 3, 2008 1:01 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I have never watched the WWE either but i have watched all of Coutures fights so Phil chill out, you need to realize that there’s a time for everything and this is Brock’s time to win and Randy’s time to step down i believe.. you’re not getting any faster with age so yes i do believe that Brock can win the standup and dominate the fight he’s faster, younger and much stronger i see a 1st round KO coming..

I think that Couture is a VERY smart and experienced fighter. He definitely has that advantage over Lesnar. However, I feel that Brock’s size, speed, and strength are gonna be too much for Couture to handle. I mean, Randy’s last two fights were against big guys, but I don’t think they compare to Lesnar.
In just two freakin fights, Brock has shown that is athleticism is unmatched. He has the potential to be one of the greatest HWs ever. The guy is a beast. Anyone who thinks this is not an exciting fight is nuts! I for one can’t wait!
by MMA fanatic on Nov 3, 2008 12:57 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
I LOVE how people think Brock Lesnar is a legit contender because he got subbed by Frank Mir and beat Heath Herring by a UD. He didn’t even put Heath away. Hell, Jake O’Brien did the same thing and now he’s working at the Sizzler. Brock doesn’t deserve this fight and to be honest I think Brock vs. Shane Carwin is more logical. Anyone who has been into MMA pre-2000 knows Randy should be fighting and losing to Big Nog.

“Its a business” apparently, the only rankings are in terms of how much PPV dollars you can rake in.
by DirtyML on Nov 3, 2008 5:51 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I’m gonna LOVE when you’re proven wrong on November 15th. We both know that the submission to Mir was a rookie mistake. He was completely dominating that fight and like he said in the video “he was rushing the fight and did everything wrong.” As far the Herring fight, his whole plan was to control him – NOT put him away. He didn’t want to take any chances because he was in a do or die situation.
I understand that this is his 3rd fight in the UFC, but there also aren’t many HWs like Lesnar. I don’t think the UFC would have set up this fight in the first place unless they knew Lesnar was gonna win.

I don’t think Herring had his face caved in after fighting O’Blanket.
by PW on Nov 3, 2008 9:56 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Not put him away? What kind of a strategy is that? That’s a totally bogus statement. Mir submission was a rookie mistake, but Lesnar is still a rookie.
by xxBAxx816 on Nov 3, 2008 5:32 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
people are crazy if they think Brock has a chance. He has two wins neither against good fighters. Heath Herring? Come on he got dominated by Jake Obrien he is garbage. I will at least give him that stylisticly he isn’t the best match up for Randy and has a beter chance against him than he would vs Nogeria or Mir but come on Randy is way too good to lose to some guy with 3 pro fights no matter how big or fast he is.

Wouldn’t it be something if lesnar pulls off a submission? I’m pulling for randy in this one since brock still have penlty of career left. I’m afraid that if couture loses this fight that I won’t get to see how long it will take the best HW to dispose of couture.

I personally think Brock will probably pull off the decision in this one. If it will be finished Randy will probably finish it. As far as Brock being legit HW. He is going to have to improve his submission defense 100 fold if he wants to be a true force in UFC.

Brock will lose by submission my guess {RNC}. Lasso The ASSo.

the smart thing for Randy to do would be to train hard in jiu jitsu. The only way he can beat Brock is by submission. Brock knows how to spraw and avoid wrestling takedowns but what about Judo? Could Randy learn an uchi mata or surprize Brock with some Judo takedowns instead of wrestling?
by hatteras on Nov 3, 2008 11:14 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Did anyone else notice in Lesner’s last fight he had several chances to slap on a guilotine choke against Herring. I think he really needs to work on his JJ to get Randy out of there any way possible.
Don’t you think Dana made this fight happen because he would like to see Randy lose? (and for the $$ also of course)

It’s about the money, dude! Brock will be great, but there is no way he deserves a shot. This fight will be fantastic, but it is an slap in the face to all HW contenders who have worked there butts off looking for a shot.

Well the 16-8 wonder just went to 16-9. hats off to Lesnar for beating him, though I dont belive Randy should even be placed in the Top 5 of MMA. Randys reasons for duckin out of the ufc I believe were legit but its Nogueiras prescense in the ufc that put those reasons into action. Nogueira has tapped men that have tapped cotoure ( overeem ) as well has Randys teammate Dan Henderson whom i belive is just as good if not more of a dangerous fighter then Randy. Nog. only has 4 losses on his record all of which came by descion. Two of these losses came from fedor, 1 was a controversial loss to dan henderson in Nogs early debut into mma which he quickly and without a doubt set straight. So has Lesnar overcame the biggest obstacle in the UFC ??? HELL NO !! Hes either gonna face a man thats already beat him ( mir) or hes gonna fight someone much more experienced and deadly in MMA, the no.2 ranked fighter in all of MMA Nogueira. Though i believe Nog is different then he used to be because of the wars hes fought in the ring especially against Fedor and on that note do realize that had the 2nd fight between Fedor and Nog been under ufc rules Nog would have won !! …instead the cut was ruled no contest in pride. Nog has fought plenty of people that are Lesnars size, Bob Sapp being one and many people with much better mma experience. Does Lesnar stand a chance ? well sure he does, any dog can have his day and the fact Nog cant quite take hits like he used to ( because hes takin so many ) does open a window of oppurtunity for Lesnar but consider that window one in a doll house. My money is on Nog to unify that belt. And Lesnar vs. Fedor ?? forget about it. Lesnar would have a better outcome swan diving off a 12 story building.
by chad on Nov 16, 2008 11:48 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
…and to chadx23s comment….how long did it take randy to do tim ? ..it went to paper !! Nog is the 2nd ranked HW of all time currently. Fedor is the man and Nog is runnerup….lets not forget though, had the 2nd fight bewteen fedor and Nog been under UFC rules nog would of won in the first round, but pride considered a cut no contest.
