it is a great show…but to be honest I REALLY like Dana’s blogs…he should make a half hour show out of them

I think McNeil sucks more. Man that guy needs to get a clue about MMA.

i like this show. Franklin McNeal is a f-ing moron and clearly know shite about mma

Both McNeal and Bonner do a great job. Bonner is very well spoken, much better than Mir.
I agree with what Bonner said about Anderson Silva. He was fighting smart, sticking to a game plan and making sure he got an easy win. The only way he was going to loose that fight was if he rushed in and got caught (matt serra’ed if you will) and he was making sure that didn’t happen. And like Bonner said, we likely would have seen a KO had the fight lasted.

Franklin McNeal needs to quit talking about f_cking boxing when I’m watching a show about MMA.

McNeal started out poorly as a commentator for MMA, but he’s gotten much better very quickly and while I don’t always agree with his viewpoint I certainly respect it. I think Bonner does an awesome job and really liked the way he called out McNeil for thinking Anderson was being unfairly blasted for his performance… I think 1/2 the fans feel the same way McNeil does… However, I agree wholeheartedly with Bonner.

you are right about that and I am of those 50 % that agrees with mcniel, silvas antics go to far in my opinion bowing constantly offering to help cote up during the bout its rediculous i wouldnt be suprised at all if the only reason silva was fighting conservative to take the fight to the 4th and 5th rounds which he himself admited was because of the respect cote showed him
I cant wait for some one smash him and end all the silva pound for pound crap and it will happen. Yes hes a great fighter but his antics go a little to far
by dia mette on Oct 31, 2008 3:03 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
hence the Roy Jones Jr. Comparison. I kind of agree with Bonner though, nothing wrong with playing around and having a little fun in there when your as good as A. Silva.

His comment about Sherk’s improved striking, since the BJ fight, put me over the edge. No more freebies. Bonnar needs to stop looking so high.

Brock Lesnar, borderline BJJ purple belt!!!! His camp saying they will bet the house that if theres a submission, that it will be Lesnar not Couture? Maybe just hype? But dam I cant wait to see that fight!
by JV on Oct 30, 2008 4:47 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Seriously??? Must be hype. In a championship fight Brock will not fu*k around. He will go straight for the bread and butter GnP!!!
by BNF on Oct 30, 2008 4:56 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yea, maybe mind games? Something more for Couture to think about I guess?
by JV on Oct 30, 2008 5:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
it’s gonna get alot worse(the back and forth stuff) as the fight gets closer. brock is a natural heel (i still like him) and randy, while usually very repectfull, can be pushed and might come out with a few zingers of his own. im telling you, that video, the part where brock comes around the corner and rogan talks about hoe huge he is, gives me goosebumps.
by b.w. on Oct 30, 2008 5:15 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Brock is a natural heel’’ great way to put it.. I bet couture takes acception to being called a ‘liar’ when he said he was stronger now than when he was in his 20’s.

I highly doubt that lesnar is at a purple belt level in BJJ simply because his BJJ was terrible against Herring. There were various times in that fight where he had a good position, but he couldn’t do a thing with it.
by naturalshadow on Oct 31, 2008 3:39 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
which video is rogan talking about how huge brock is?
by newkoba on Oct 31, 2008 9:00 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Soon enough he’ll be tapping the likes of Nog and Werdum. Can anyone even fathom a universe where Lesnar plays guard?
by NameNotRequired on Oct 31, 2008 10:49 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Where did you hear the purple belt thing JV? I know Erik Paulson (lesnars trainer) is a semi-unknown bad ass with a very underated knowledge of BJJ.

Knowledge or actual skill because Herring would beg to differ. He was just a less muscled Lesnar.

I do not like bonnar. He is annoying and looks like a nerd
by onthebutton on Oct 30, 2008 5:46 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I disagree. He is well spoken, interacts well with the rest of the panel, and has a personality…maybe that’s what annoys you, but sitting next to Franklin, you NEED some personality.
by Eric on Oct 30, 2008 6:26 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Eric i agree, he may not be exciting but Bonnar speaks the truth, is very well spoken and knows what hes talkin about. Franklin on the other hand should go work on a baseball show or something. Or just STFU, that would work for me. FRANKLIN sucks (and i rarely hate on people).

I have to agree. He stinks up every episode. 0 knowledge and the way he phrases his thoughts makes it sound like English is not his first language.

yeh i reckon Bonnar does a brilliant job he is animated .. mir and Ken Flo can sometimes be way to wooden. As for McNeil ….. the less said the better – they should poach Bas from HD Net

Paulo Filho will take it easily. Same with faber. That guy really needs to let up on anderson, he’s talking like silva let his guard down and took some hits or something. I agree with bonner, some fighters get over confident and lose their belts. Just because he finshed his other fights early doesnt mean he has to all the time. He picked cote apart and was probably gonna finish the fight in the 3rd or 4th. Lesner more likely to submit couture..comon..where are they finding these guys…Thats just as bad as Vinny on the ufc reality show saying his bjj is better than nogueira…
by sinbin13 on Oct 30, 2008 6:01 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
If Couture does get submitted I bet it’s by a guillotine, Brock is so strong he could probably squeeze fighters unconscious with arm in.

Why the UFC needs more fighters like Anderson Silva…
Unbelievably the UFC middleweight champion, Anderson "The Spider" Silva, has received a large amount of criticism from the mixed martial art’s community following his display at UFC 90 against Canadian Patrick Cote. What I would like to ask is, why?
Upon entering the UFC against Chris Leben in June 2006, Silva has gone on a tear in the middleweight division, capturing the title and leaving nobody in any doubt who is the best in the world at 185 pounds. Defeating the likes of Frankiln, Marquardt & Henderson at middleweight, Silva then moved up to light heavyweight for 61 seconds to demolish James Irvin, striking fear into the most stacked division in the UFC.
Not only has he done this in spectacular fashion, often leaving his foes in a heap on the mat, but he has been a role model for children and adults alike with a degree of class often lacking in modern day society. Considering this is a combat sport, to remain as respectful as he has is utterly remarkable.
So where have all the negative comments come from? The main bulk has come from the fact that Silva did not finish the fight as quickly as he previously has, seemingly "dancing around" which MMA "experts" viewed as disrespectful.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? In Cote, Silva faced possibly the most heavy handed opponent of his entire career, a man who possesses one punch knockout power. If fighting smart while gauging distances and not putting yourself at risk is disrespectful then what has the world coming to?
What people need to remember is this is not boxing. The gloves are not as heavily padded as in boxing and one blow can do irreparable damage. You only have to watch St. Pierre fight Matt Serra the first time to realise that.
Word of all this B.S. has got back to Silva and look at his reaction. He is so mortified that the press would turn on him in such a way and will not rest until the record is set straight that he wants to fight anyone the UFC can line up in three weeks at UFC 91.
That’s what I personally love about the guy, he will fight anyone, anytime. I’m sure he is disappointed when his fights are over because he loves being in there so much. I, for one, will be sad to see him retire and that is the only bad thing about Silva, that he has put an expiry date on his career.
Before then though, whether it be at UFC 91 or later, god speed to his next opponent. A calm Silva is one thing to deal with, a p***ed off one with something to prove is a totally different animal.

Ha, i started reading this and was thinking “What is this guy writing a full goddamn article?” Thank god he was, if every post was that lengthy on mania id kill myself. I agree with all of it, but i can sum it up in four words “SILVA WAS’NT JOKING AROUND!”
by medecine balls on Oct 30, 2008 7:29 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Silva was being cautious, changing levels and distance. It is common to make moves like that when you are avoiding an opponents strength. If Silva had run without the cutesies it would have looked like running.
by SaVaGe on Oct 30, 2008 8:09 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Lengthy, but all necessary. I still can’t believe the grief Silva is catching. I’m staying on this bandwagon for a long, long time. Maybe that’s a bad way to put it, as it implies that I’d hop off for no good reason. But the guy is amazing in the cage, and comes across as good/humble outside of it, so I can’t picture anything that would make me stop being a fan. Now let’s bow our heads and pray for his next opponent, they’re going to need it.

great show, just a few complaints. Why is fat fuck sherwood on the phone? that dude sucks. So does Franklin, he has no clue what hes talking about. Gotta love Bonnars straight-up boring commentary though, well at least i do. Get rid of Franklin and hand the phone to Hockensmith permanently (seems like he knows his shit) and this show would get eaten up by the hardcore fans. Oh and i totally want to ‘boink’ molly, shes fine as ****
by medecine balls on Oct 30, 2008 6:45 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Dude, I completely 100% agree. Sherwood is an absolute idiot. The reason why he’s on there is because espn has a partnership with him and his sh_tty @ss website. Thus, we have to look at a picture of that jabba-the-hut lookin’ dude while drones on about stuff that the posters on this website appear to be more knowledgeable about. Oh yeah, and I would do Molly’s t_tties.

How do you guys think that Randy “THE NOT SO NATURAL” (cause he’s a freak) Couture compares to the Randy that fought Gonzaga and Tim. I Believe I saw Randy at his best back then. Phenomenal cardio and mostly his strategy was great. Do you guys believe he actually stands a chance this time? I know everybody says he will come up with a plan like he always does, but what do you guys think the plan could possibly be? maybe a flying armbar???
by Don on Oct 30, 2008 6:57 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I have to agree with you. Brock has big and fast strikes, so you…go to the clinch? Yeah, like Randy will be able to manhandle Brock in the clinch. Randy will out-wrestle him? Brock’s wrestling credentials are as good or better than Randy’s are. I see Randy’s skill, experience, and cardio helping him to make this a fight and making it into the 3rd or 4th round at the most, but then Brock will gnp him into a TKO.
by Eric on Oct 30, 2008 7:57 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
If Brock wins, it will be a sweet sweet victory for fans who saw Randy corrupt his image and the sport of MMA. I hope Brock puts those medicine-ball fists upside Randy’s head.

Ive noticed that both Florian, when he wasnt getting ready for a fight, and now Bonnar, are really good at toeing the company line. They don’t do it to overtly, but both are definitely good “company” men. Never seen either say anything even bordering on criticism about the UFC, or their big stars.
-I do like the show. Say what you will about Franklin, but he is way better now than when the show first started.
by efisher on Oct 30, 2008 9:46 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
florian vs bj pen will be sick. I have this weird feeling florian is the nexts big thing..its just a matter of when? And as as the lesner couture fight its really hard to say..lesner broke heath’s orbital bone in one over hand right and the force knocked him down and caused him to roll backwards..thats freaky powerful. Then theres randy with his crazy greco roman wrestling and his phenomenal fighting instincts…i say lesners got the obviouse power advantage maybe a bit quicker. But i give the better mental game and “good enough” power to finish the fight how ever he wants. Go couture. i’m nervous just thinking of this fight…
