Matt Hamill vs Reese Andy UFC 92 fight official

Light heavyweights Matt Hamill (4-2) and Reese Andy (7-2) will go toe-to-toe inside the Octagon at UFC 92: "The Ultimate 2008" at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The promotion today announced the match up, which is not guaranteed to make the televised pay-per-view (PPV) telecast on New Year's Eve weekend.
Hamill is coming off a tough technical knockout loss to his friend and former training partner, Rich Franklin, at UFC 88: "Breakthrough" back in September. It marked the second loss in his last three appearances for the former contestant on The Ultimate Fighter.
The loss was perhaps not as hard to swallow as the performance -- Hamill refused to apply his elite wrestling skills and instead was content to eat more than his fair share of punches from "Ace."
Expect to see him go back to his roots against Andy, who is no slouch himself on the ground.
Andy was on a four-fight win streak, including impressive victories over Krzysztof Soszynski, Justin Levens, Mike Ciesnolevicz and others, before colliding with Brandon Vera at UFC Fight Night 14 back in July. The former International Fight League (IFL) standout lost a lackluster unanimous decision that night in Las Vegas.
The University of Wyoming wrestling alum will be in search of his first UFC win on December 27.
UFC 92 features a light heavyweight clash between 205-pound champion Forrest Griffin and top contender Rashad Evans in the main event, as well as a heavyweight bout between interim division champion Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira and Frank Mir.

well im sure mania will let you know when that happens, dont hold your breath homie. As for me, I think this will be a tough fight for Hamill. Reese Andy may not be the best at MMA but he has some sick wrestling. Matt by UD!

Is it just me or is there something weird about the ufc matchmaking. Hamill was part of the co-main event or fight before the main event just this past month or so. Seems like a trend with some fighters. Cheik Kongo after his lost to heath herring, kos after losing to gsp, etc. I know its important to win everytime out its a pretty big drop to go to the undercard. Is it just b/c there arent enuff fights or what??

Come on the guy is 7-2. I admit I dont know much about him other than the Vera fight, but if Houston Alexander is still in the UFC, why the hell not give a guy a shot who is 7-2

I am sorry, but I don’t believe Hammill has that killer instinct to compete at the highest levels of this sport. I really like the guy and have been a fan of his, but I don’t think he has the mental tools to compete with the elite. Reese Andy is obviously not a “A” level fighter and Hammill should destroy him, but he probably won’t and this will be a long 3 round fight.
The fight with Franklin made me lose all faith in Hammill.
