Besides Fedor vs. Arlovski, who’s fighting who?

by UFCAddict on Oct 28, 2008 9:32 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

they could beef this card up and put diaz-alvarez and

something like barnett-sylvia?

by stinky~fingers on Oct 28, 2008 9:39 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nogueira vs. matysenko will be a very good fight!

I exp[ect Gina Carano to be added to this card!

by john on Oct 28, 2008 9:51 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

We may even see Kimbo on this card

by john on Oct 28, 2008 9:52 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

true and true.

i believe we will see both. good call.

im sthinkin maybe gina-cyborg

and kimbo~seth rematch or kimbo~kensham?

what do u think?

Kimbo vs Rogers

by PhilQNY on Oct 28, 2008 10:21 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

John.. Gina vs Cyborg!!! Would be insane.. I just don’t want Gina to get hurt face messed up.

by PhilQNY on Oct 28, 2008 10:29 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

me 2. Also, lets not forget that new dream champion, Gegard Mousassi will probably be fighting on this card!

by john on Oct 28, 2008 10:43 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

OK, so that’s L’il Nog in the poster then?

by PW on Oct 28, 2008 11:22 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No Kimbo is not going to be added!

No Gina and Chris are not going to be added!

Barrentt and Belfort are going to duck out of the fight or get injuried before the fight is ready to go.

and once again affliction will ot be better than the ufc or any ufc cards.

fedor and pitbull are good friends and fedor is going to get him in an armbar in the 1st rd.

i like all the fights and ideas that you guys have mentioned, but if you add all those fights/fighters to the ones already scheduled, you might be talking about a $5million payout. Affliction already lost alot of money on the 1rst show, so they will probably have to tone it down a bit with the fighters salaries. if all the elite fighters were willing to take a paycut, then i could see it happening. i hate bringing up money, but it does matter.

by b.w. on Oct 28, 2008 1:06 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed b.w! None of them are a draw especially with the shitty economy and UFC bouts with more implications. this card will kill them plus now without the “boxing fights” that would have supposedly beef up PPVs.

I just can’t see this event being any good. The production will likely suck, and ever since tim ko’d aa, he hasn’t been the same. Basically, once again, I called it, 90% of the same fighters just fighting different opponents.

by kevin (some guys hate me...and I don't care) on Oct 28, 2008 11:39 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

they got 4 sponcers for this fight, they got golden boy which will duck out after this PPV
they got M-1/Trump/Showtime

Affliction doesn’t care about MMA- They were negotiating with Dana to get back into the UFC until it went south.

not bad ideas stink.
you guys really wanna see kimbo? i find it strange that kimbo gets no love (me included) but yet you guys still wanna see him? Make up your minds!

I agree, the same fighter regurgitated and fighting other opponents.
90% of the fighters are the same, the production could get better, but will probably still suck and AA hasn’t been the same since timmy KO’d him!

Didn’t you see AA lie there under Big country. He has all the tools to not get zulu’d under a minute against Fedor.

Looks like the exact same card as last time just shuffled around a bit, how many more shows are they gonna have the same guys fighting, and how many different match ups could they have at this rate?

by O damn he got caught on Oct 28, 2008 9:40 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

trust me i am sure they will get some good fighters

together for this show.

for example pro~elite just went out of business.

so lots of fighters are free agents right now.

but~

pro elite has contracts with these guys still

and it takes time before they can let a fighter go.

so pro~elite might be holding back some of the better fighters

so that the ufc doesnt scoop them up right away..

pro~elite and affliction are tight so contract procratinating

could be quick if affliction wanted to grab diaz-alvarez and

some other top guys.

i really think this night will turn out 100x better then banned.

and who really cares how the card shapes up?

arlovski is fighting fedor!

this fight has been long anticipated for me.

This is a good card, but how many people are seriously going to buy 3 PPV’s in January? I can’t miss a fight I have wanted to see for a long time, Hendo/Franklin. There is no way anyone wants to miss BJ/GSP. Looks like this card may suffer.

by BNF on Oct 28, 2008 10:09 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think hendo/franklin is going be free on spike my guess but yea i hear what you are saying

by ace1877 on Oct 28, 2008 10:19 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

When the UFC announced the Hendo/Franklin fight they said PPV. I hope it is free, but if the UFC cannot counter Affliction on the same night, they may just counter with people’s wallets.

by BNF on Oct 28, 2008 10:24 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’ll but the Affliction PPV and the GSP/BJ PPV. I wouldn’t pay to see Hendo/Franklin. It’s not that I don’t like the fighters or I think it would be a bad fight…it just doesn’t really have any lustre to it. I mean, where does the winner go from there?

by introvert on Oct 28, 2008 10:27 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

To coach TUF season 9, US vs UK and face Bisping at the end of the season to decide the #1 contender to the MW belt.

by ViolentMike on Oct 28, 2008 11:33 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Why? So we can see Silva kick the shit out of Franklin for a 3rd time? How exciting.

go to a bar man… free free, get some wings and a few pitchers of a beer and youll spend less than what you would for a PPV but get to look at tail and have food and drink

by brendan on Oct 29, 2008 1:38 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

this is a very good question BNF.

all three fights are fights i have wanted to see for some time.

if i could only choose two?

it would be fedor-aa and bj-gsp.

very tough choice to make~ but if i had too? thats what it is.

i am curious what 2 fights out of the 3

other maniacs would choose? or are going to watch.

i will be watching all three~ and 2 from the 3rd row!

by stinky~fingers on Oct 28, 2008 10:22 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I also want to see all 3 fights. GSP/BJ for sure then a tie for 2nd. The tie braker for me is easy. The production value of Affliction is no where near UFC, period. I don’t like/need Skid Row or some other lame band, I didn’t care for the commentating at the last Affliction show (Rogan is the best) and the ring is not my favorite. So for me I will watch Affliction on the net the next day.

by BNF on Oct 28, 2008 10:36 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I just hope Horodecki gets stomped. I saw this fight with him when he was in the IFL. He was totally getting dominated by this dude.. who I cant think of his name at the moment… and was just about to be submitted, when he climbed through the ropes to force a stand up. Then he won a decision. I was so pissed for some reason and ever since then.. I cant stand him. He even got dropped with a couple shots and somehow pulled off the win. I also saw his last fight in the IFL, which made me feel somewhat better, because he got put in this move where he had no choice but to eat like 10 power shots straight to the face, then of course the fight was stopped before he got mutilated.

Hope to see that again haha.

by enzo-enomrous on Oct 28, 2008 11:08 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

the last one you refer to was against Ryan Schultz , it should have been stopped earlier but I guess the referee liked seeing Horodecki getting punched too.
BTW – Why do many people say this Affliction card is good ? I for one am very disappointed . Who is Barnett gonna face exactly ? Looking at the fighters on the poster is it Myteshenko?? I figuered they’d protect Barnett but this is too much. Barnett Rothwell could have been good , or at least Sylvia Rothwell . This card is much weaker – no Sylvia,Rothwell or Rizzo . why?
And I was hoping they’d get Musashi , but that’s a no go either.
After half a year break I was expecting a better come back. The main event is good but you need a co main event or something , and they don’t have that…

by joel on Oct 28, 2008 11:21 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That would be so tacky for such a great card.
GIna should fight though.

If Gina doesn’t land a fighting gig out of this I’ll gladly give her something(one) to do.

Too bad we’re now missing out on the near-daily threads about boning Gina Carano. This is a sad replacement!

by Graham on Oct 28, 2008 2:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

How is this a good card seriously ? Granted AA Fedor is great (though Sylvia Fedor was imo better hyped) . But the rest??
Why are Sylvia and Rothwell not on this card ? Who Barnett is going to fight ? Kudos for taking IFL fighters but come on , is this the best they can do to compete with the UFC ?
For me this is a major downfall than the first event . They had 6 months to bring fighters , Im sorry Horodecki and matyshenko just don’t cut it . people who do cut it – Alex Emelyanenko , Musashi , Rothwell , Sylvia (he still is a draw).

by joel on Oct 28, 2008 11:27 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

They haven’t announced the full card yet. I’d be pretty surprised if Tim, Mousasi, and Rothwell don’t get added to the card. Not to mention Big Country and Eleks (pending medical).

by introvert on Oct 28, 2008 12:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Any card with Fedor vs. AA is automatically a good card. You bastards paid to watch Forrest vs. Rampage and that entire undercard was junk, so do not complain :-D

I hate to see Fedor vs AA, ’cus they are my fav fighters. Crap, Russian vs Russian…

by zheka1 on Oct 28, 2008 11:28 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Why do you care if it’s one Russian against another? As an American, I choose between one or the other all the time. I am a very partiotic American, but for some reason, don’t get wrapped up in rooting for a fighter simply cause he’s American. Olympics, World Cup Soccer, sure but not MMA. Too many American fighters I can’t stand, and too many foreign fighters I like.

I will guarantee you this, if AA shows up like he did in his last fight he will not make it out of the first round. I’m curious on to what fedor will do. Will he try and stand with AA, or will he take him down and work his brutal gnp looking for a submission. I don’t see this making it out of the 1st round. For me Fedor is the A. Silva of HW and I dont see the 2 best mma fighters losing before they retire.

by rydinlow on Oct 28, 2008 11:41 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Really? That seems to be a common thing around here. They will lose eventually, unless they pull a Mayweather. They arent invincible. I dont understand why people think that. Neither is truly undefeated. They have both already lost.. it is more than possible that it can happen again.

Fedor has an almost unblemished record, but Silva has lost 4 times. Technically he has only really lost 3 times. The illegal kick sucks but he was still winning that fight, so I’ll give a freebie on that.

They have and will lose again. They are fighters. It happens to the best.

by enzo-enomrous on Oct 28, 2008 1:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

very good comment. Al these guys say fedor is undefeated, sherdoggers are the worst, but he lost! I don’t care if it was a chair to the head and he got cut, a loss is a loss just like anderson silva’s win sat. is a win!

by introvert on Oct 28, 2008 1:20 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Youtube is blocked at work, but if this is the Chonan fight it is quite the crazy submission. I heard it described as something that you maybe pull off 1 in 100 times in practice. Another sub that was crazy was GSP vs. Santos. That was a wild armbar.

by Shadyone33 on Oct 28, 2008 4:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

and I know that the GSP vs. Santos wasn’t a MMA fight so nobody jump on me.

That was a sick sub. And kevin you are correct Fedor did lose and he almost lost to Fujita cause he got rocked still don’t know how he recovered on that and how he didnt get hurt when randleman dropped him on his head lol.

by rydinlow on Oct 28, 2008 2:25 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I remember people making similar coments about Liddel a few years ago. Most people could not invision him losing. However, It does and will happen, if they continue to fight the best the sport has to offer. It does’nt dillute the argument that they are the best, but simply that no one is invincible. That to me, is what I love about MMA. Anything can happen.

by Jrandolph on Oct 28, 2008 2:57 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

not really, he had 3 loses. Fedor has 0 legit loses.

by Bill Maher on Oct 28, 2008 9:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, but you have to be able to CONTINUE to fight (or continue in a tournament). Cote was injured and so was Randy against Vitor. Nobody is saying these don’t count as LOSSES. If you can’t continue , You LOSE, Fedor is no exception. He will have a legit loss in January anyhow, AA is going to KHTFO.
