sean sherk awesome fight!

by mad_drummer on Oct 26, 2008 11:37 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I cant remember the last time I enjoyed a fight that Sean Sherk won. Props to Sherk for a very exciting fight…props to tyson as well!

Sherks hands looked amazing. He should try stranding more often. My only beef with him is it seems like he doesnt go with the flow. When I watch him fight, I cant help but believe that he thinks to much. He doesnt do a good enough job of mixing striking with takedowns. We either see him in striking mode or Dry Hump mode. He should really start mixing it up more. THrow some cobos then go for the takedown. Sherk becomes too predictable. Everyone knows when he will shoot and when he will bang.

Hope to see him mix it up in the future, but he fought a great fight last night, and I bash him a lot on this site, so I would like to give props and a special thanks to Sherk for entertaining the crap out of me last night!

Sherk vs. Maynard anyone?
Tyson vs. Clementi?

This past year, I have called and bet big on alves vs. Lytle, Karo, Hughes and Kos and the pitbull has always delivered.

You guys on this site need to start taking him more serious!

ye but he is a roid muncher john so whatever. hopefully gsp will kick his ass

by heat on Oct 26, 2008 2:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yea john, I was suprised by Alves! Kos is a tough WW, and Alves made it look easy. I would have made some good change last night if I had bet. I was thinking 100 on each of the underdogs. I didnt know sh*t about Dos Santos but looking at Werdum, I would have put the 100 down on Junior. The only one I would have gotten wrong was Clementi.

by JV on Oct 26, 2008 2:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

clementi… big let down, i was screaming at the TV “GET UP!! SUB HIM!!! AHHHH” what a dissapointing fight

by brendan on Oct 26, 2008 3:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Clementi’s fight was by far the worst fight I have seen in years.

Clementi and Maynard shouldn’t be allowed to fight in the UFC after that dismal performance. They basically didn’t do SHIT for 15 minutes. Clementi had 3 opportunities to submit Maynard and he made ZERO attempts.

by J on Oct 27, 2008 1:49 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah I was super disappointed with Clementi. He just didn’t look like the same fighter we’ve seen in his last few fights. He lacked the aggression, I’m wondering if he was injured or something. Maybe just had an off night.

Sherk vs Joe Daddy. That would be a good fight.

by Kdog on Oct 26, 2008 7:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

wow…kos admits that he was not better…must be hard for him to say that. i am also suprised his ego fit into the press conference room….war alves!!!

by bradpittfightclub on Oct 26, 2008 11:37 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

alves vs gsp/penn now that would be an amazin fight … alves is sick!! i’ve liked him ever since i saw him against loser dasouza (sorry for the spelling)ever since he has just got better and better

by ufcaddict on Oct 27, 2008 9:28 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He beat Kos up, I hated Kos before the fight, then I watched Countown to UFC 90, gained a smidge of respect for him during the show and alot of respect during the beating he took. Alves is a juice monkey and should be tested over and over again until he is caught and suspended, just like Sherk, last nights show should have been called UFC 90: JUICED. I have a hard time watching guys lose to steroids. Its a good thing Werdum put on all that soft weight it cushioned his landing lol!!!!

by Spyder on Oct 26, 2008 11:40 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

damn, ur f*@cking stupid! the UFC has a strict steroid testing policy and all of the top fighters every PPV get tested multiple times during training and then in the week prior to the fight right before weigh-ins and everything. They’re not on ‘roids ’specially not Alves. It’s called working out in the gym. Maybe you should try it?

by Anthony on Oct 26, 2008 12:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Fighters are picked at random…by the Athletic commision and as far as the testing multiple times during training goes that is only if you have been busted before.

Having said that….. I dont believe anyone looked to be “juiced last night”

by Psyqo78®™ on Oct 26, 2008 1:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You have to admit though Alves didn’t look as swole in this fight as he did with Hughes.

by Psyqo78®™ on Oct 26, 2008 12:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, Kos admitting Alves was the better fighter was refreshing. I usually hate Kos but I am also starting to gain some respect for him. Taking the fight with 2 weeks notice must have been pretty tough too so I gotta give him that.

by WB on Oct 26, 2008 1:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It is hilarious there are these people that believe that just because a guy is muscular and cut he has to be on steroids. These comments usually come from a skinny kid that could never put on any muscle mass even with all the protein shakes in the world OR a fat slob that hasn’t been in a gym since High School PE. Genetics are different from person to person. These guys are in the gym 6 days a week and dieting to consistently build up lean muscle mass. Some are lean and lanky, and some are stacked and bulky. For someone to think that every fighter who looks like a body builder is on steroids shows complete ignorance towards MMA, training, and human physiology.

I see what you are saying (but), I’ve been accused of juicing when I wasn’t. I have also known more than one juicer and I have juiced to heal a cronic injury. There IS a difference in the way one looks naturally and juiced. IMO he is definitely juiced. One thing for sure, he isn’t above cheating, he took diuretics.

by Gord on Oct 27, 2008 2:31 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’m sick of hearing people complain about Thiago using steroids. As soon as he tests positive you can talk all the sh#% you want, but until then give it a rest. Sure people look different naturally than when they’re on steroids, but until there’s proof what’s the point in debating it? Also, he just turned 25 so he can definitely still be naturally getting bigger.

by GregC on Oct 27, 2008 2:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Gord, you respond to people on this site like you’re juicing

by RedDog on Oct 28, 2008 5:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Silva is the man, I hope petty people dont start flaming him about the lack of action in last nights fights. Si8lva wasnt being cocky or disrespectful, he was just trying to frustrate Cote and give him stuff to think about. Silva looked BETTER than EVER last night, showing flashes of utter GENIUS!!! If Cote had not gotten hurt, I feel that we would have seen a classic fight… Anderson was going to light him up but props to Cote!

Alves is a beats! Who wants to hatye on him now? He made weight and destroyed koschek…..“Can you see him now?”

Leites’s quick display of Jits was really amazing! High level Jits!

o look forward to seeing more of Cigano!

Talking to phlQny last night during the event, we came up with these 2 match ups that should be booked:

Cigano vs. Kongo (Strikers Duel)
Werdum vs. Heath Herring

Sorry, gentlemen! I truly believe Alves is going to defeat GSP when they meet! Still unsure about the outcome of B.J. and GSP, though. Can’t wait to see either fight!

by Dana's a Crossdresser on Oct 26, 2008 11:47 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Idk, I always said even prior to this beating that he gave Kos that Alves would give GSP his best challenge but I don’t think he’s capable of winning just yet. But make no mistake about it, it will be a war. GSP has some big fights lined up for him next with Penn, Alves and Anderson Silva. I mean thats three of the best challenges he could ever get in the sport all within the next 9 months or so.

Maynard’s face in the COte interview is priceless.

by Adam on Oct 26, 2008 12:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

this video should settle it. silva was not playing, toying or carring with cote, he never does. it was his strategy. i see alot of people dissing silva and dont know why. 1 lackluster fight and some are saying he is overrated.please, what about all the great perfromances before that? plus cote is a better fighter than what people want to believe.

by b.w. on Oct 26, 2008 1:58 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I thought it was stupid what Silva was doing in the 1st round. But so what, like you say b.w. “what about all the great fights before” Anybody who lost something for Silva was not a fan anyway!

by JV on Oct 26, 2008 2:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well said b.w., this is the way I see it too. I just think that the people who said Silva would destroy Cote are looking for a way to justify their unwavering thoughts of Silva being able to destroy anyone and everyone, all the time. I seen the fight as more of a mental chess match and I thought that was the best Silva has ever looked (skill wise). I don’t blame Silva one bit for being more causious than normal. If he was over zealous against a dangerous opponent like Cote, he could end up looking like one of his own past victoms.

by Gord on Oct 27, 2008 2:58 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I thought Anderson looked great…this is not a back alley brawl. Anderson is a MMA expert who put on a clinic last night.

by Robert on Oct 26, 2008 2:06 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

It DID look like showboating even if it wasn’t. But I found it awesome just to watch him move though. He changes direction in an instant and he’s so light on his feet. I think he was just trying to get Cote angry so he’d make a mistake and capitalize on it.

by JRK on Oct 27, 2008 11:39 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Anyone who says anderson silva was toying is just ignorant. Also I train hard and know first hand how it is and im nowhere even near the level these guys are at. Cote is the man. He came there prepared for war and thats what he did. He should not be boo’d or disrespected. stuff happens and I think cote deservseee repect..

by What?? on Oct 26, 2008 3:04 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I would not say “a clinic” He didn’t look as good as he usually does, but I think that has to do with Cote. After he hit Cote with the knee and all Cote did was smile at him,I think it affected his mind frame .Nobody and I repeat nobody should hate on Silva,he is still the same dangerous fighter that everybody loves, you can’t knock out everybody.

So boys what do you think if Thiago and GSP fight? How will it go down seriously?

So safe to say winner of GSP/Penn vs Alves?

by tripleainto on Oct 26, 2008 6:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

well i relly dont think gsp has better stand up than alves and so far not a damn person can take that man down…but then again its gsp so im not sure, i think if i had to bet money it would be gsp but i really cant look past alves

by box91 on Oct 26, 2008 11:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That’s a tough one to call. I see Alves being GSP’s toughest test (yes tougher than BJ). It would be a hell of a war. I’m not saying GSP can’t stand with him, but it wouldn’t be the smartest (safest) game plan. Alves’s TD defence is great, but GSP has a guy down before his opponents mind registers “sprall”. If GSP can’t take him down early, your going to see a very nervous GSP fan, that’s for sure. I think GSP will be out muscled for once, but he is a master at using leverage to his advantage, so he still might maul him on the ground. Alves offers something that we haven’t seen GSP face before, which makes for a very intriguing fight. I’m looking forward to it.
