The official weigh-in results for UFC 90: "Silva vs. Cote," which were recorded today (October 24) from the Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Ill., are in.

Perhaps the biggest questions heading into the event was whether or not Thiago Alves could hit the scale with no problems. "The Pitbull" came in at a ready 171 pounds, using the one pound over the division limit that is alloted to all fighters in nontitle fights.

Josh Burkman was not as fortunate. "The People's Warrior" required an additional hour to shed two pounds, having initially weighed in at 173 pounds.

Here are the official UFC 90 weigh-in results:

185 lbs.: Anderson Silva (184) vs. Patrick Cote (183)
170 lbs.: Thiago Alves (171) vs. Josh Koscheck (170)
265 lbs.: Fabricio Werdum (256) vs. Junior Dos Santos (234)
155 lbs.: Sean Sherk (156) vs. Tyson Griffin (155)
155 lbs.: Gray Maynard (155) vs. Rich Clementi (156)
185 lbs.: Thales Leites (186) vs. Drew McFedries (186)
155 lbs.: Spencer Fisher (155) vs. Shannon Gugerty (156)
185 lbs.: Dan Miller (185) vs. Matt Horwich (186)
155 lbs.: Hermes Franca (156) vs. Marcus Aurelio (156)
170 lbs.: Pete Sell (170) vs. Josh Burkman (171)**

*Note: Fighters are allowed to weigh one pound more than the division limit in non-title fights.
** Burkman initially weighed in at 173 pounds and needed an hour to reach 171.

Remember that MMAmania.com will provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the main card action on fight night, which is slated to air at 10 p.m. ET on pay-per-view (PPV) from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., on October 25.

Of course, the latest quick updates of the prelim bouts will begin to flow earlier than that at around 8:30 p.m. ET.

It’s going to be a fun night of fights … check us out for all the pre, during and post-fight coverage you can handle.

UPDATE: Check out the UFC 90 weigh in video highlight package after the jump.

Has Anderson Silva ever missed weight?

by nomaan on Oct 24, 2008 4:22 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Nope! Thiago is the only one we should be concerned about, if he doesn’t make weight Dana should force him into MW. Then Silva can kick his ass for not making weight, that’ll teach him a lesson.

Thiago mad it.

Cote 183 WTF?

by DDT on Oct 24, 2008 5:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

silva was only 184. both are in great shape imo.

by b.w. on Oct 24, 2008 5:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think this is one of those times when the fighter says he is in the best shape of his life and it actually is true. They both looked in great shape.

Who said Alves couldn’t make weight? Now what?

by RedDog on Oct 24, 2008 6:28 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If Alves couldn’t make weight, then he should be fighting in MW as mentioned above.

Man Anderson Silva looks like a lean, mean killing machine that he truly is. C’mon Silva, show Cote where he belongs!

Man John, I got Kos over your boy any day!! If Fitch can do it, KOS sure as hell can!!

by The Anomaly on Oct 25, 2008 12:18 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Anomaly: yOUr thought process is apples and Oranges. Not saying Kos cant beat Alves, but if he expects the same little youngbuck to show up tonight that Alves was when he fought fitch, kos will be in for a rude awakening.

Alves is a MONSTER compared to the fighter that fought Fitch.

Keep in mind, Koschek is NO Jon Fitch~!

I guess all that talk about werdum’s muscle gain from Chuteboxe was hype.

Werdum made weight eating Lay’s chips and donuts, LOL!

by Syd[a.k.a. "The Negation"] on Oct 24, 2008 7:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

lmao, seriously. Dos Santos will get the upset! Mark it down. Werdum’s head is not in the right place. All he’s thinking about is deserving a title shot. He’s gonna get KO’d fast tomorrow night.

by Anthony on Oct 24, 2008 8:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

dos santo was 234 and cut. werdum was 256 and flabby. might not mean anything, but maybee werdum is taking this fight lightly.

by b.w. on Oct 24, 2008 5:29 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Werdum is BIG, i never seen him that heavy before, hopefully it doesn’t mess with him cardio wise. Dos Santos looked solid though.

It looks as if anderson silva doesn’t like patrick cote…. just by the way he keeps going in his face… he hasn’t done that with any other fighter and the weigh ins not even Dan henderson it almost seems like silva has a disliking to cote… maybe its just me

by sinister on Oct 24, 2008 5:19 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Thiago Alves made weight at 171lbs on his first try

by jerrolds on Oct 24, 2008 5:19 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

yes. good for thiago, but he didnt look as big to me as he did in the hughes fight. that might change come fight time though. since alves made weight on thr 1rst try with no contraversy, if he walks through kos like he did karo and hughes, then we can start talking about gsp/alves as a serious challenge. or b.j/alves. i dont like kos as much as the next guy (he got his ass booed off at the weigh-ins) but i dont see him losing this fight.

by b.w. on Oct 24, 2008 6:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Alves is not on the same page. He’ll get murdered by the cream of the crop even if he walks through Kos.

by Syd[a.k.a. "The Negation"] on Oct 24, 2008 8:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t think he’d get murdered. I think Alves will give GSP his best challenge yet.

He’s yet to make 170, though. . . if he’s given a title shot, I’ll be curios if he can shed that final pound. . .

by Jesse G on Oct 24, 2008 5:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

So, Burkman gets some time to cut the other 2 pounds? Kinda crazy b/c he is a very experienced fighter and this isn’t his first cut for a fight.

And of course Thiago made weight. He got his cycle all figured out…his bicycle…for cardio to lose weight…what sort of cycle did you think I meant?

Does anyone know if Burkman made weight? Or how to find out? Its been an hour – I’m a huge Burkman fan from SLC and hoping he doesn’t make an ass of himself while he’s on the brink of being kicked out of the UFC anyways.

by Casey on Oct 24, 2008 7:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Doesn’t really matter. If he doesn’t make weight I’m sure Sell will still accept the fight and just take 10% of Burkman’s purse for the fight.

Most are writing off any chance of Cote’ coming out on top in this weeks installment of UFC carnage.
But Cote’ may be taking a different approach.
He’ll fight to his own stregnths. He’s a striker…and has been a very successful striker. It’s what he knows.
No one has ever even hurt him in a fight, he’s got an iron chin.
If he goes out and fights up to his best, and his chin holds up, Silva could be in for a long (or short) night.
If nothing else, this will be Silva’s toughest test to date.

by Talkman on Oct 24, 2008 8:40 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Come on Talkman give me a break………

Are you trying to say that cote poses a bigger threat to Anderson than Henderson???

by Homslice on Oct 24, 2008 8:56 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

What I’m saying simply, is that this could go all 5 rounds and be competitive.
Certainly you couldn’t argue that would be a “tough test”?
While Henderson was certainly Silva’s toughest to date, were Cote’ to take Silva through round five is this face off, would qualify as his toughest test…at least in the UFC.
(Witnessed a couple of Silva’s wars in KOTC)

by Talkman on Oct 24, 2008 9:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I watched Henderson/Silva fight and thought if Silva hadn’t caught him in that submission…it would have probably went the distance. As much as this Canadian boy loves Cote I am not delusional and don’t see Cote getting past the second. Kind of feel it out first is my guess.

by TBlades07 on Oct 24, 2008 9:14 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Can I nominate this for Most Ridiculous Post of the Year? “If he hadnt caught him in a submission, it probably would have gone the distance?” How can you possibly say that?

For some reason I feel like we could see a GSP/Serra this weekend with Silva vs. Cote. I just dont like all the retirement talk coming fron Anderson. I’m not putting a lot of stock into it though. Lets just say that IF it happens, I wont be shocked.

by SARS on Oct 24, 2008 9:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Silva is not going to knock cote out. I honestly think cote will take silva the distance. At least that’s what I’m hoping for. I’m tired of silva ending fights within 2 rounds, I wanna see him in the 4th and 5th rounds. I like exciting fights and when a guy gets knocked out in the 1st round, I’m sorry but that’s not an exciting fight to me. I want more couture/silva type title fights, you know fights that keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

by rydinlow on Oct 24, 2008 10:25 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

if he’s not knocking him out he will submit him.. I want Silva to win so bad that i just want him to take Cote down and submit him after he’s played with him for a couple of minutes..

by Dayvet on Oct 25, 2008 12:32 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Speaking of Evan Tanner, did the UFC ever acknowledge his death? I know that the next UFC after the event had no mention of him, and apparently they didn’t send anyone to his funereal either.

The first good exchange of strikes you will see Cote get knocked out for the first time in his career. I bet he doesn’t make it off the mat in time for them to raise Silva’s hand. If Cote has a chin like he claims then we’ll see Silva showcase his skills on him, kindof like a stumbling punching bag with feet. I can hardly wait.
