the mindset for this fight reminds me alot GSP Vs Fitch but i don’t think Cote can stand 5 rounds against Silva.
The only chance for Cote is a right hand right on the button…
That should be is gameplan!

who has said that. Silva is a class act. I’ve never seen him slightly appear to be overlooking anyone.

I’ve seen Cote take some big shots without being rocked. Is it true Cote has never been KO’d? If so this could prove to be better then what a lot of people think. He’ll still take a beating, but he might make a show of it.

I don’t think Leben had ever been KO’d either. There’s a first for everything.

4 losses. 2 by sub (Lutter and Doerksen), 2 by decision (Leben and Ortiz).

i don’t think this guy makes it out of the first round. i hope he does so we can get a little bit of fighting for our cash but i don’t see it. silva is just too smooth for this guy at this stage in their careers. SILVA BY SUB IN RD 1.

Was it just me or did it sound like they started off with Mike Tyson doing a voice over for Silva? lol Hope it is a good battle.

i’m kinda afraid to say it even over the net but… i hear a little michael jackson when anderson tries to speak english…..
also dana’s face is hilarious when he’s speaking english…. he’s trying VERY hard to concentrate on what he’s saying, and you can tell he’s processing it

I don’t even think Cote can beat Rich Franklin.

Well someone better get it for him before he gets hurt.

Leben got KO’d because Leben has no skill what so ever….id love to see Leben vs Cote 2 bet Cote would finish him this time around.
by Khaos_warrior on Oct 23, 2008 11:03 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Leben is skilled. It’s just that his skills were not up to par with anderson. Let’s see how Patrick Cote’s skills, will match up against Silva….Well in any case, WAR CLEMENTI!!!

Easy for me to say, as I won’t be the one risking decapitation courtesy of The Spider, but I see Cote’s only shot (albeit remote) if he absolutely goes for broke when the bell sounds. Don’t give Silva the chance to figure out Cote’s timing, as Silva is simply too good and technically superior. The fight still will likely end quickly with Cote in the prone position, but I think Cote needs to try to land a big bomb early.
by CL on Oct 24, 2008 12:07 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Your totally right, Cote’s only shot at winning is to come out swinging for the fences and end the fight early. I think if the fight last over a minute Cote’s done for, it’ll only be a matter of time until Anderson ends it in devastating fashion.
My hearts with Cote and oddly enough I having a feeling that he’ll land that lucky bomb…..the rematch won’t be so pretty though!

couldn’t agree more.. one thing that anderson silva does is he is a slower starter always takes his time in feeling out his opponent- if cote comes out right off the bat and applies hard pressure on him he does have a chance to catch anderson off gaurd and atleast rock him so that he is able to continue with the pressure and be able to give him a go….. then again it is Anderson silva so good luck to him..

It doesn’t matter if Cote wins. All that means is Anderson Silva will come back even stronger and destroy Cote,
and continue on a war path in the UFC.
by matt on Oct 24, 2008 12:54 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
silva is a slower starter, if cote just bum rushes him like penn did to gsp and serra did to gsp, gsp used to be a slower starter but serra/gsp 1 changed all that. If cote goes crazy willing to trade blow for blow off the start and surprise silva maybe he has a chance but maybe silva is waiting for this. Somehow I really can’t see cote winning, silva is just way too good, the only guy I could see beating silva today is fedor and only on the ground, silva would destroy him on the feet.
by nathan on Oct 24, 2008 12:55 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
yeah bum rushing will work that is what Leben did and Anderson Silva pushed him aside- literally.
by matt on Oct 24, 2008 1:00 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
serra never rushed gsp? gsp was throwing punches and kicks, serra just got lucky and landed one before gsp picked him apart.

Cote may have never been knocked out, but has anyone ever seen Anderson Silva bleed? Cote- in his lose will be successful if he can make Anderson Silva bleed one drop of blood.
by matt on Oct 24, 2008 12:58 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Didn’t know Anderson Silva could bleed, sure fooled me.

For everyone who thinks cote has a chance im sorry, he is going to lose. He is going up against the p4p best in his prime, Cote has a 1 in a hundred chance of winning this fight. The only way this fight gets out of the 3 minute mark is if Silva decides to toy with cote and put on a show. I highly doubt silva would do that bc apparently he wants to retire soon and some how squeeze in 8 fights in a year.

Just a little bit of info – we were talking to Ed Soares about a week ago and he stated that Silva is training his hardest for Cote. He says when Anderson and the team watched footage of everyone else, Anderson never saw a ‘warrior spirit’ in their eyes. With Cote, he sees that…anyway, that’s through his translator…just thought I’d share…should be a war, but Cote won’t role over for anybody.

Nice to see Cote keeping it classy, rocking the suit gsp style.

cote’s eyes look like he can step up and take the belt away. lets see if he has the skill to do so

My final point before the fight tomorrow. If Cote delivers an upset, which I still doubt, I sure as hell hope that the usual suspects don’t start the “lucky punch” chant! No one who has years of experience, an iron chin, knockout power and has been training their a*s off for months should ever be accused of simply landing a lucky punch regardless of the odds. I think Silva would agree. As an aside, I asked the question yesterday if it was true that Cote had never been knocked out. As it turns out, not only has he never been knocked out, he’s never even been knocked down! I’m starting to think this fight might be a little closer then many people have been saying.
