For those in town for the UFC debut in the Chicago area remember that the weigh-ins are FREE to attend and open to the public. The Chicago Theatre is located at 175 N. State Street.

Of course, fans are encouraged to show up about an hour before the fighters tip the scales to rub elbows, take pictures and get autographs from the several fighters who will likely be in attendance. UFC Fight Club members will also be able to attend an exclusive Q&A session with former welterweigh champion Matt Hughes before the weigh-in begins.

In addition to coverage of the weigh-in, remember that MMAmania.com will also provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the main card action on fight night, which is slated to air at 10 p.m. ET on pay-per-view (PPV) from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., on October 25.

Of course, the latest quick updates of the prelim bouts will begin to flow earlier than that at around 8:30 p.m. ET.

It’s going to be a fun night of fights … check us out for all the pre, during and post-fight coverage you can handle.

thats a good one Gweedo
hey guys, what do you think of this match up. Bisping/sakara.
To me it’s a good match up for Bisping to show off what kind of ground game he has. Sakara (who I really like) is a great Boxer, a bigger guy that moved down, and would be a good test for Bisping!

by kevin (most moderated guy on mmamania) on Oct 20, 2008 11:20 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah I like Sakara alot, id like to see him upset Bisping with better boxing

by brendan on Oct 20, 2008 12:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yea me too.. Sakara could go far if he started to stick and move all the time like many guys do these days, but he’s a warrior.. Sakara should knock him out if it stays standing

by RoB on Oct 20, 2008 1:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

How many different topics are you gonna post the same thing? And its off topiv every time! Sakara sucks, it would be a step down from Leben… I like Filho better or Marquardt

by 1-0 via Arm Triangle on Oct 20, 2008 2:10 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Bisbing is on his way to a title shot…He just picked apart the guy who knocked out Sakara in less than a round…they arent going to give Bisbing an opponent who hasnt beat a formidable opponent himself since Siniosic…Bisbing has passed Sakara up…the only fight Sakara will be getting will be against someone the promotion is trying to build up…not somebody who has already been constructed…

by dude on Oct 20, 2008 3:35 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sakara has good technique but i don’t think he has any considerable speed or power. Also, leben beat him before Bisping so i doubt it will happen off of his win against that one guy. As for his ground, I can’t image significant improvements. refer to the way he was defending that kimura against Sinosic. There are just not that many good ground training guys in Europe, too many strikers. On the other hand i can such strides from Sakara training with ATT.

well this kind of sucks. I took the day off of work to go to the weigh ins and what not and we only get matt hughes for a q&a? weak.

by jj on Oct 20, 2008 11:40 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

lol, didn’t hughes do the Q&A at the last ppv too?

RIP Cote……. This fight has been hyped so much, but its going to end so quickly and more violently than evans vs chuck.

Anyone buying in on Leben vs McFedries Next?

by Colin D on Oct 20, 2008 10:57 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

THAT would be a nice brawl. Leben, of course, would win it.

by sinisteR on Oct 20, 2008 4:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

hey mania, i read an article from the sun where dana said “If Silva finishes Cote in the way he normally finishes opponents, he could fight again in two months”

that would further beef up the already stacked card.

HW belt, LHW belt, and possibly the MW belt. Plus rampage and wandy. damnnnnnnnnn that would be a good card.

by weoweoweo on Oct 20, 2008 10:57 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think he probably will go through Cote fast, but who gets the title shot in 8 weeks time?!

by BritishBulldog on Oct 20, 2008 2:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nate Quarry, Andrei Arlovski, Bj penn, Anderson silva,Matt hughes,GSP…..anyone will take a title shot man…no one is crazy enough to pass up opportunities like that. but hey stranger things have happened.

by santiago69us on Oct 20, 2008 2:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think he meant Silva will have a lhw fight. Not a title fight.

by enzo-enormous on Oct 20, 2008 3:28 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

well if it isnt a blockbuster LHW fight that would suck. cause after cote we only have 5 silva fights left. If they feed him to another irvin type of fighter that would be a waste, id rather wait for a better opponent.

damn silva acting like gayweather.

I have;

Silva tko 1st
Alves tko 2nd
santos tko 2nd
sherk by dec
Maynard by dec
McFedries tko 1st
fisher sub 1st
horwich by dec
franca by dec
sell tko 1st

by Gweedo on Oct 20, 2008 10:58 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

god, I yawned just thinking of sherk fighting, literally. way to many decision fighters on this card! I’m all for great ground work, but when sherk and maynard get on top of you and do absolutely nothing, they should be penalized, not rewarded with a win. LNP is not the same as good GNP or great jits!!!

by kevin (most moderated guy on mmamania) on Oct 20, 2008 11:26 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Junie, is that you? just kidding, couldn’t agree more. Big difference between great ground game and humping someone into decision.

by James S on Oct 20, 2008 11:54 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Leben would KO Drew McFedries in the 3rd, like he did Terry Martin.

I feel so bad for Cote. What is the record for the fastest win in a title bout in UFC? I think this will be the new record.

That or when Tito KO’ed Tanner years back.

Silva is going to giggle.. a bit.. and take out on Cotes face.. The last guy that went Blah..blah.. about the Champion.. almost got his right eye.. jacked uo to the back of his skull.. and C Bacon.. is speaking a tad bit too much for his own good.. This is really not a fight.. more of a straight up beatdown of someone.. this is like Jordon 1 on 1 versus John Starks.. We all know what the outcome will be.. Cote will find out hte hardway.. They have to drug test him.. cuz whatever he is own. is F24#$%^^king with rational way of thinking.

I hope McFedries makes the televised card. McFedries would destroy Leben, unless Leban takes him to the ground and subs him. Leben is a one trick pony that would get knocked out in the 1st or 2nd round. Look what bisping did to him.

by MN Mad Man on Oct 20, 2008 11:29 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

the only person to ever knock leben out was anderson silva.. i highly doubt mcfedries who everytime i see fight i lackluster could bang with leben..

i think silva cote is gonna be competitive for at least 2 rounds

You might as well have donated that money to the plastic surgeon that will reconstruct that frenchie’s face, come on be real! Silva looks like the guy who runs the Prison and Cote is the new little inmate who wears caps sideways and is gonna get brutally raped!

Anybody want to make fun of Silva for that pink shirt, I really wanna see cote KO Silva. I could happen I love how all you guys are writting off cote and already tring to find the next match up for Silva. Hey I remember when GSP got beat by Serra, I was shocked my fav fighter going down like that.

by TKO on Oct 20, 2008 12:44 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

yeah? I really want to see Santa Claus, no…wait, how about a leprechaun at the end of a rainbow with gold coins? NO? ok, You really wanna see Cote KO Silva, the chance of that happening has the same chances of what I mentioned above “happening”

Anderson Silva is the only dude in the world that scares me while wearing a pink shirt!!!

All dudes kind of scare me while wearing a pink shirt

by James S on Oct 20, 2008 12:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ha! Thought the exact same thing.

Q: What kind of person goes out to intimidate someone who they are going to be locked in a cage with by wearing a pink and white collared shirt?

A: A total fucking hardass that knows he can.

Dude should have popped his collar while he was at it! LOL

by waterboy on Oct 21, 2008 1:29 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He should talk shit and try to get Silva pissed off, Silva is always so calm, maybe the only chance to beat him is if he gets pissed and gets in a slugfest and you catch him. When Silva is calm and picks people apart there is no way Cote can beat him.

Silva will remain calm though, because you can’t get in his head and he will pick Cote apart. Cote needs to try to catch him.

by mike on Oct 20, 2008 12:53 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Lutter pissed him off when he didn’t make weight. That didn’t work out to well for Lutter…

by BNF on Oct 20, 2008 1:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

And Franklin was respectful to him and how did that work out? I don’t think it matters either way really. If you fight Anderson Silva you are gonna get beat up, whether he is mad or happy won’t matter. It is a fight and Cote has a punchers chance, and that is that. I just don’t get why people are so upset that Cote is trying to get him riled up, it’s his game plan let him try it out.

by mike on Oct 20, 2008 1:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Dont get me wrong ill defintely be cheering for cote only if and only if he gets out of the first 2 minutes….

by Colin D on Oct 20, 2008 2:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I would laugh if cote ko’d silva, everyone would have that dumb look on there face like when serra tko’d gsp. I really can’t see it happening and I’m curious to see cote’s game plan. Nobodys made it to the third round since 2004 hope cote can do it, I really can’t see this fight going to a decision, cote simply can’t run at silva with a reckless abandon like he has in his past fights silva will pick him apart. One fight I would like to see is anderson fight machida at 205, that would be interesting.

by nathan on Oct 20, 2008 2:18 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Everyone thinks of Silva as some type of God. I like the guy, but as soon as he loses, I know that I will see all the posts about him being done or something stupid. He has lost already, he isnt unbeatable. Everyone said the same thing about Chuck and Hughes..

I dont think Cote will win.. but it has the potential to be a good fight. Cote has a good chin and tons of heart. We will just have to see if he fights smart. That is what I am hoping for anyways. Doubtful tho.

by enzo-enormous on Oct 20, 2008 3:35 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Wrong. This is NOT like Hughes, and NOT like Chuck. Both of those guys had some wars during there title rain, showed some holes in there game, had worthy opponents who came oh so close to beating them, and they definently got into thier fair share of trouble during there fights. Anderson has never had a second in the octogon with all his fights, where he looked like he was not in complete control, its freaky, thats why people are all about him, and thats why it would be crazy if he lost.

by The Anomaly on Oct 20, 2008 9:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Look how happy Dana looks. Its like he just got done making two people hate each other just so he can see them fight it out. hahahaha

Or he just farted and is wondering if anyone smells it.

Any Iowan maniacs that know of a good place to watch the PPV in Des Moines? (other than a Buffalo Wild Wings which are crap to watch ’em in.)

A roadtrip to catch a Metallica concert on Sunday would be deadened by missing a fight night. Thanks for any possible help.
